《》Chapter 39

== Simon’s POV ==
Collins stayed back, too surprised to see his dead father standing beneath the trees. My wolf had quickly reduced the distance between me and the man, our wolves circling, snarling at each other, looking for the best moment to attack.
Collins’ father, Allan, had a huge gray wolf, his size as big as mine, but he was also much older, and lacked the Alpha’s power, since he gave that title to his son. The battle would be hard but it wasn’t hopeless. I was still looking for a way in when he attacked me, quick as a whip, he went straight for my throat.
I pushed my muscles, side-stepping him to bite down on his hind leg. The taste of blood filled my mouth as he growled, pushing me aside with all of his weight, trying to sink his teeth into my skin. Battle was raging all around us, wolves’ snarls and cries surrounding us, pursuit and combat happening all over the woods but I could only think about him. Every time he raised his head and his gaze met my eyes, I could see in my head the images of Enna. Her back, her neck, how she had cried when she smelled him on me, how she trembled at the thought of going back to that place, about how she was still missing. He had probably hurt her even more since then, taken a little more of her away, and I couldn’t let this happen again. To her, or to others.
I growled as I attacked again, my jaw found his back and I bit down, while he bit down on my ear, then pushed me with a lot of strength, sending me flying against a great oak, ripping a piece of my ear away in the process. My head hit the trunk in a big thud and I could hear ringing in my ears from the blow. He approached me directly going again for my throat but I stood up, meeting him head on, pushing him so he fell backwards on a tree stump, knocking his breath out. I heard his body crack but he stood back up, just to be met by another of my attacks. I pushed him back again and he fell on his back. My teeth found the tender skin of his belly and broke it, tearing into his flesh with rage. He yelped out of pain, then growled and managed to push me off with a leg kick, scratching down my chest with his claws.

Away from me, I could hear Collins, now engaged in battle with some of his father’s minion. He had tried to reach us, but they seemed to keep him back, away from us. Allan circled around me again, leaving a trail of blood on the dead leaves between us, I growled at him, my teeth scarlet with his taste. He went for me again, pushing me hard enough to destabilize me before grabbing my right front paw with his teeth. I head the crushing sound of breaking bones, the pain shooting up my front leg like a bullet train.
I yelped, pulling away, he let me go. I could tell he was enjoying this, a sick smile seemed to be painted on his wolf’s face as he circled me again. We went at each other again, pushing and biting down here and there, hitting trees, falling, and getting back at it, in a blur of motions, growls and blood. I managed to stay upright most of the time, three-legging it was not the best way to fight but if this is what I had to work with to kill that monster, I would. We pulled away from each other and stood back a little, regaining my composure, and my breath, trying to push the pain away from my brain.
We were mostly evenly matched, and despite our injuries, we still fought hard. One of us would have to give in at some point.
“SIMON!!!” screamed Collins voice on my left. As I turned, I saw two wolves lunging at me, pushing me onto the side I was bearing a broken paw on, effectively making me fall onto my side. Unfortunately, one of them met an untimely death as he had kept his throat way too close to my razor-sharp teeth. I jerked his body on the side, while his partner in crime bit down onto my left tight. A cry escaped my mouth as I tried to stand up, but my broken paw kept me from it.
A shadow hovered over me, Allan had taken back his human form. He smiled down at me, standing in the woods in a naked glory. His body maimed by my teeth sported a long gash on his belly, oozing a little trickle of blood onto his scratched bare legs.

“Take back your human shape, son” he ordered me.
I shifted back, still laying on the ground, my forearm was definitely broken and would need resetting, my tight was bleeding, badly enough for me to get concerned about what would happen next. I could also feel blood running down the side of my face, I was too afraid of the damage to even try touching my ear.
“You’re going to pay for taking her away from me” he menaced, crouching down while I pushed myself up to rest against a tree. He punched me in the chest, I heard my breath being knocked out and a few ribs cracking. The old man could still pack a good punch. “You’re way too weak for her. I’m her mate” he stated, punching my face. “I WILL KILL YOU FOR EVER TOUCHING HER” he screamed, getting himself ready to punch me again.
His movement was greatly interrupted, as a bright flash tore through the woods, knocking most of the warriors on each side off the paws.

== Enna’s POV ==
One second, I was standing near Gerard and Liza in a cave, the next, a bright flash made my eyes water as I felt myself leave the ground. Surrounded by light, everything was, and everything wasn’t. All that I knew, is that I ended up standing in the middle of a battlefield, Liza gripping onto me like she was going to die. The arrival was rapid and she fell to her knees, half pulling me down.
Gerard, who seemingly was used to this method of transportation, grabbed Liza by the arm and pulled her up quickly. All the people surrounding us had stopped mid-battle to look at our arrival, all laying on the floor like they had just fallen.
“We’re here to fight against The Commander and his troops!” yelled Gerard. The rest of the group, all of them wearing a white item shifted. Suddenly, I was surrounded by an entire menagerie of animals. Wolves, horses, a big eagle, a couple of tigers, even a sheep, but biggest of them all was the bull standing right next to me, a white headband attached right underneath his huge horns. His breath was fuming in the cold air. He gave me a last look before her turned, charging forward with his makeshift army, taking on the first of their opponents.
Someone tugged at my arm and I turned around. Lady Calahan had a serious face on.
“It’s time for you” she said, pointing ahead of her. There, I could see them, my torturer was crouching in front of my Simon, who was laying against a tree. I could see he was hurt, I could smell the blood from here. “Go” said the witch, but I could hardly hear her. From the core of my being, I could feel it. For once, I wasn’t scared, I wasn’t sad, I wasn’t lonely, I wasn’t afraid of anything.
My eyes met with my mate’s and it broke in me. I was fucking furious.
My human body tore away, my bird taking me like fire as I took flight, heading right at them.

== Simon’s POV ==
Everything happened so fast. The light blinded me slightly, but when it receded, I could see a group of people standing, stating in some way their allegiance to our side. I quickly ordered my troops not to hurt them, hoping the two other alphas would do the same.
All of them suddenly shifted in a whole array of animals and beast, the one who had screamed their allegiance shifted into a huge bull, leading the charge. As they left, they revealed a silhouette I could recognize between millions. There, standing next to two other women was Enna, looking towards me. She looked around until her gaze was directed right at me. I could see it on her face, how she recognized me, and saw my current position.
“My love has come to me” murmured Allan, his eyes wide with joy and hopes.
I could have bitten his face off right about then, but someone took care of that. Enna’s face contorted with rage and she shifted, faster than I had ever seen anyone shift before. Her huge black bird shoot towards us, arriving feet first on Allan’s face, tearing his skin apart indifferent to his screams.

Figuring out what the course is about is a big part of the story. Mostly the story will be focused on dialogue and thoughts.
