《》Chapter 21

This chapter comes to you short and unedited. Sorry.
== Simon’s POV ==
The apocalypse was greeting me now. I couldn’t even grasp how Ash didn’t directly inform us of what happened. Collins was right, they didn’t cross his land, because we didn’t smell them and they found a way to sneak in. I was an Alpha, I had to take care of my pack, but right now, only Enna mattered.
“Where is she?!” I mind linked Nathalie right away.
The answer came fast, as if she had been expecting me. “In the bunker, with me.”
She didn’t say “she’s unharmed” or “she’s safe” which worried me even more. “How is she?” I asked.
“A little beat up. She fainted…now she seems to be having nightmares. She’s shaking pretty bad…” Nathalie answered. I could tell from her tone that she feared my wrath.
“James” I called. “Take care of it, make sure all of the fires are out”.
They had set a few houses on fire, probably to divert attention from the pack house. Were they making an educated guess at Enna’s position, or were they only blindly going in? I would have to find out later. One of my captain mind linked me. Two pack members had been killed, two guards on the borders. The rest of the pack was thankfully fine, only minor injuries. They were only werewolves in the team that breached in, and they had done some pretty elite work, targeting perfectly the houses, slipping in unnoticed and almost getting to my mate.
As I rushed into the pack house, my mom came towards me. “They are still in the bunker. Enna knows now, she saw me. I think she’s in shock” she said to me. Her forehead showed a complex network of small wrinkles laced in a frown of worry.

The bunker was an underground panic chamber. It had been outfitted years ago by my mother. She wanted to make sure her pups could be safe in case of an attack. Which ended up just being me, and we never got attacked when I was young, but when Enna came, I asked my mom and Nathalie to spruce it up, making sure she could use it in case of emergency. Obviously, they knew something was up, but they didn’t ask further questions.
I ripped the door open and barged down the steps. Nathalie stood up as she heard me, revealing Enna. She was awake now but she had backed up onto a corner of the room, her head hidden in her knees, she was crying.
“Leave the room” I ordered to Nathalie and my mom. Both left without protest. Enna looked up when she heard my voice. He tears kept falling but she had stopped to sob.
“You are safe now, I’m back” I whispered. She made a move to stand up but winced in pain so I walked closer to pull her up by the armpits. Once she was upright, I pulled her to me by the chest, crushing her against me with my other arm and softly kissing the top of her head. I could feel sobs shaking her body as she gripped on the back of my shirt.
“Ssssh, it’s fine. I’m back, they’re dead. You are safe” I cooed her until she pulled away drying her cheeks with the back of her hand.
“Are you feeling better?” I asked softly, taking her chin between my fingers and raising her gaze up to mine.
She nodded, and dropped her gaze down before whispering, “Simon, I’m scared”.
____
Very short update, but I figured it was better a little than none at all.
My schedule is jam-packed so I'll try to update as soon as humanely possible (sorry, I'm not a werewolf yet).

I learned that I could overcome those limitations. I wanted to bring that hope and healing to others. Activities like that make life meaningful and bring me joy. The reasons why I was suicidal in 2019 were set in motion in 2000 when a meteor would come crashing down upon the life that I had built leaving me powerless to do anything other than watching everything burn to ashes - the home that I had, the life I had known, the love I had, my career, everything would disappear almost as if it never existed. In that one the year 2000, I could not imagine things could get any worse. But the nightmare would continue for the next few years... culminating in a suicide attempt in 2019. Now, I am connecting with others, building relationships, and finding a reason to live again. I am writing my own story of my life.
