== Simon’s POV ==

One second, she was sitting on a chair, the next, she was kneeling on the floor, clutching her head between her hands and crying. My mom was faster than me, she reached her in an instant but when she tried to touch her back, she screamed again and the cries intensified.

“Do something” said my mother to me in a very harsh tone. I kneeled beside her.

“Enna” I whispered, “Enna, what’s wrong? Look at me.” I tried grabbing one of her hands but she pushed herself away from me, dragging her body on the floor. Her eyes shot up to me but it was like she wasn’t even there, like there were clouded over, she couldn’t really see me. No one was moving to touch her and at some point she curled in a bowl and cried more, repeating something about a smell.

My mother once again beat me up to understanding the situation. She pointed at James, who was keeping curious people at bay, and me and screamed “Go change! NOW! AND TAKE A SHOWER!!”

I raced to my office. I had a bathroom there and a change of clothes, I scrubbed my skin off faster than I ever did before and barely dried myself off before getting into my change of clothes. The ones I had worn were in a trash can, shredded.

I raced back to the kitchen where she was still folded onto herself, crying out, clutching her arm so strongly that her fingers were white. My mom was on the floor, trying to soothe her with words, she looked up at me and encouraged me from a sign of the head to go to my mate. My wolf too was pushing me. She seemed in so much pain. I kneeled near her, this time, she didn’t move away from me but as I tried to touch her back, she cried out again.

“Don’t touch her there” said my mom loud enough to cover Enna’s sobs but not enough to let everyone hear. Nathalie was near her, looking at Enna like she was a hurt kitten or something. Her eyes filled with tears. I nodded to my mom and tried another approach.

“Enna” I murmured, softly touching one of her arms with my fingers. At first, it didn’t seem to calm her much but I kept on going, my heart clenching at the feeling that I couldn’t help my mate. “Enna, come back to me please” I murmured again, rubbing her arm a little stronger. Her sobs seemed to lessen a little bit. Now kneeling in front of her, I used my other hand to rub the other arm, careful not to touch her back. She stirred a little. “Enna, you are safe with me. I’m here with you. You’re not there anymore, you are here with me. Please Enna, you need to wake up now. You are safe, you are loved, no one will hurt you anymore, Enna. Please.”

She seemed to stop moving completely, as if she even stopped breathing, then her head snapped up and she drew a large breath in. Her eyes were clear, if not for the rain which was still pouring from them, but they were green, and silver, and yellow, and looking at me. At my face. At my hands on her arms. At the kitchen around her. Back at me.

She started sobbing again but this time, she buried her face against my neck, dropping the rain all over my change of clothes. I pulled her close, letting her sob on me, on the floor, in the kitchen.

I wished I could take it all away.
