《》Chapitre 7

== Simon's POV ==
There was an eerie silence as I waited in the hallway. Even if my perfect sense of audition, I couldn’t hear anything happening inside the medical department. James and the Doctor were near me. The other injured people were dispatched to different places around the pack house. After a good half an hour, the door finally opened.
She looked like hell. Dark circles were showing up under her eyes, she seemed to breathe slowly and harder than before. She held onto the door and it seemed like talking was the hardest thing she had to do. “I saved them” she articulated before he knees gave up and she collapsed. I reached her before she reached the ground. She was a light weight to me but her state alarmed me. I gestured the doctor to go check on my men while I sat on the floor and pulled her on my lap. It looked more like exhaustion than anything else. I held her against me and stood up.
I put her on a spare bed in the medical room. “Doc, check on her too.” He came back with his eyes wide. “I don’t know how she did it…” he said before quickly checking her out. I walked across the room to look at my men. All three of them had shifted back to their Human form now, they were still unconscious but their putrid cuts were now only thin scars, their heartbeats were steady and they only looked like they were asleep.
I walked back to her. “She only need to sleep it off. I don’t know what she did, or how she did it. I don’t even know what she is, but she saved them” said the doctor before leaving me to her. James was still with the men but he looked at me with eyes which read “what the actual freaking hyena?” and I totally agreed.

I lifted her up to take her back to her room. She was limp against my body but I heard her chuckle. “I’m sorry, I think we’ll need to speak tomorrow” said her soft voice. “You saved my men just to avoid me. It’s a clever plan.” I answered holding her a little but tighter. “Where do you plan on taking me?” she asked in return. “I hadn’t planned, but I changed my mind”.
There was no way I was letting her go out of my grasp for a single minute now.
.
I woke up in my bedroom. It was still early and only a few rays of sunlight were passing through my thick curtains. Images of the previous day filled my head, my men injured and Enna mysteriously healing them. Of course, I thought about it for half of the night, maybe she was a witch or some kind of healer? It definitely took a toll on her to do it, she looked miserable and didn’t even protest when I laid her in my bed next to me. She fell asleep almost instantly cuddled next to my warm body and stayed there for the rest of the day and night. I reached next to me to feel my mate but the space was empty.
I opened my eyes and sat down in a swift movement, looking around. Her smell still lingered in the room, I didn’t even notice she was gone. I’m such a terrible mate. I didn’t even bother with clothes. I was wearing my boxers and a t-shirt, I usually didn’t even bother with a shirt to sleep but I didn’t want Enna to be uncomfortable. I followed her scent back to the room she had been sleeping in before and opened it without knocking. She wasn’t there. The clothes she slept in, the same as the day before were discarded on the floor but she was nowhere in sight.

I followed her scent again down the stairs into the commons. A few of my pack members were in there and looked at me like I was crazy before standing up, ready to get into the action but wondering what the emergency was. “Did you see Enna? The girl who was found in the woods?” They shook their heads and I growled in annoyance. Her scent led me outside and my heart pinched. What if she had tried to run away? What if she was gone?
I didn’t wait to find out, I shifted into my wolf and ran after her scent like it was a bunny. It led me down the hill the pack house was built on, offering a large view over my territory, and into the forest. It was the beginning of October and a few leaves were already littering the ground. They broke under my paws as did twigs and branches, I was definitely not being discreet.
I came to a halt near a small river that crossed into my land. She sat on the banks of the river, her feet dangling into the water. She was playing with a little bird and laughing. She looked beautiful, she was wearing the long black dress she was found in. It had been cleaned and it looked like it had been made for her body, hugging her in all of the right places. Her long curly hair was held back by two braids. Her laugh was to me as melodious as the song of the water’s cascade. I must have let out a small whimper as she lifted her head and looked straight at me.
She smiled and the bird flew away. “I’m sorry, I wanted some privacy…I must have scared you.” She seemed genuinely apologetic. She was also wearing her dark purple cape and from underneath it, she took out a small bag. “I took some of your clothes, I figured you might…act that way.” She smiled again. I did feel a little toyed with but at the same time, I couldn’t stop to think that she actually thought about me and took some of my clothes for me.
I shifted behind a tree and took out the boxers and shorts she had stored in the small bag. “How did you leave the house unnoticed?” What I really wanted to ask was “How did you leave the bed unnoticed?” but my pride got the best of me.
“I have my ways. For your information, you sleep very deeply and I think the bond is less obvious because I’m not as wolf…I also had no intention to leave your side so your wolf probably didn’t panic.” She explained.
I came to sit next to her. The first thing I did was to pull her legs out of the water and bring them into my lap. The stream’s cold water had made them turn red and she winced when I took her feet in my warm hands. They were ice cold but just touching her was making me happy. Her skin was soft and felt like a million of little pop rocks were exploding when it touched mine. She didn’t move to take her limbs back so I kept them there, stroking them gently to warm them up.
