《》Chapter 4

== Enna's POV. ==

He looked like he was a kind heart under his Alpha title. When he pinned me against the wall, I felt the bond strongly, pulling us together, not wanting to let us drift apart. I had dealt with werewolves before and quickly managed to calm him down, the bond helping me to keep him from hurting me. I could tell he regretted it and it made me laugh. He wasn’t the one I was mocking. I had spent so much time running, losing friends and loved ones left and right, trying to stay clear from packs, vampires and other creatures that I laughed in disbelief. The fates couldn’t be as cruel as that. Giving me a potential mate and pack to live with the same day I had lost Leïla. Thinking about her made my heart bleed. What will they do with her? What will I do?

James led me to the kitchen. It was probably late because no one was around. “What do you feel like eating?” he asked. I shrugged. I wasn’t that hungry to start with. I took in the decor. The kitchen was very large, with an isle the size of a large family table. Two ranges and four fridges where tucked in alongside one of the walls, as well as two large sinks, three ovens, two microwaves and a dishwasher like the ones in school cafeterias. It was massive and at the end of the room, huge French doors led outside. I pulled a stool near the isle and sat on it. “What about an omelet?” he asked again. My eyes quickly flickered to the boy. “I don’t eat eggs” I answered quickly. How gross would that be?

It was his turn to shrug as he pulled the fridge’s door open. I could see him stealing glances at me from the corner of my eye. “Is there something you wish to ask?”

He turned towards me, his cheeks a little red. “Sorry, but it’s the first time I see someone laugh at Simon while he’s angry.”

I chuckled. Simon was a piece of cake and a teddy bear to me. “He’s not the first Alpha I crossed path with”, I answered, tasting the bitterness of my voice on my tongue.

“Who else?” asked a voice behind me.

His smell hit my nose like a tidal wave. He smelled of the forest ground after a heavy rain and the musk of a male. I smiled before I could even see his face. He wasn’t unpleasant to look at.

He was very tall, taller than most tall humans I had met, his hair was dark brown and cut short. His intense eyes were brown and golden, like a small fire burned in them. His lips were thin and darker than his skin tone which was a golden-brown tan color, darker around his chin where he probably forgot to shave. He was overall massive, unsurprisingly for an Alpha. His shoulders were broad and toned, his arms the size of pipes. His whole body was muscular, and standing in front of me, he looked ready to take on any opponent. He was downright handsome. He caught me looking at him and he smirked slightly. Oh boy, those dimples.

James was smaller than him, and less tan. His hair was black and he had forest green eyes with a smart mischievous gleam in them. He looked younger too, but he was probably as build as the Alpha.

“I’ve met your kind before, but I doubt you would know them” I answered to Simon, holding up his fiery gaze. It’s not because his pack found me and because he is my “mate” that I will tell him my life story right away. For all I know, he will want to put me in a cage, and that would just not fit with me.

“So, what kind are you?” asked James’ voice. He obviously felt what was going on, but sort of seemed to try to ignore it.

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” I answered with a smirk. He laughed and pushed towards me a ham and cheese sandwich with some salad inside. It looked promising. “Thank you.”

“We need to know, if you are to stay here” said Simon. I could feel the weight into his statement. He half meant it, and half asked if I was going to leave.

“My kind has not stayed hidden for hundreds of years for me to just blatantly tell the world about our existence. It’s not only my secret I would share” I stated in a hard tone.

“But I’m your mate and you….” started Simon. He stopped halfway through, his fists held close to his body, turning white from being held so tight. His face was getting red while his eyes shot thunderbolts into mine. I could see his jaw locked, he was trying to hold it in.

I stepped off of my stool making my way towards him, his eyes still not leaving me. I also heard James gasp but I didn’t care about him. I reached Simon, his head was tilted down to look into mine. I could feel heat radiating off his body as I leaned against him. I felt him react to the hand I placed on his torso, sending waves of tingles and shivers up my arm. With my other hand, I reached for his head, placing it around his face to pull him down. I saw that he had shut his eyes, his nose flaring, taking my scent in. I stopped him when my lips reached his ear. I heard him breathe me in before I talked. “I owe nothing to you, besides we haven’t even mated...yet” I whispered before softly kissing right under his ear.

The Alpha growled.
