I stood in my kitchen as I felt horrible memories scratch away at my brain. 'What's he doing here?! I haven't seen him in so long... Yet he looks the same. He looks sober, but has he just gotten better at hiding it. I realized what had happened and finally helped him up. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry dad, are you ok?!" He groaned in response as he looked around the room, his eyes eventually stopping on me.

"Freddy... You've gotten stronger." He sadly chuckled at his pain and tried to stand up.

"I'm so sorry for this... Here, let me take you to a room-" I was about to move him when he shook his head.

"No... Your grandmother would kill me." He got onto his feet and started to walk towards the doorway.

"Dad why... Did you come here?" I stayed in my spot while he turned himself to me. "I haven't seen you since... Mom died. And even then you were so lost in drinking-" he cut me off when he gave me a hug.

"I know. I'm not the greatest dad in the world, I was wrong to throw that in your face when you were so young. It was so wrong of me."

"Dad..." I felt like crying when I finally pushed him away. "Come on, you can crash in my room with me." He nodded and followed me to my room. He slept on my bed while I passed out in my computer chair.

The sound of something hitting my ceiling, woke me up with jolt. I fell backwards due to the fact that I was leaning so far back in my chair. I stumbled as I managed to get on my feet and run up the stairs to see what happened. I opened the door to see my grandma and my father staring at each other like predator an prey. Except my grandma was the predator.

"Get out of my house, right now, boy." she was standing up with an umbrella in her hands. My father was on the floor, looking up at her with scared eyes.

"Ma, please! I wanted to talk to you." He pleaded.

"And I wanted you to leave me and Freddy alone. You throw the fact that his mothers gonna die, and almost harm him with your drinking?"

"I haven't taken a drink for a solid year, please. I wanted to see my son." He slowly got up and held his side. I finally worked up the courage and intervened.

"Grandma... Its ok." I awkwardly smiled and walked up to her. "I saw him last night and he apologized. He has changed." she slowly took her gaze from me to my father.

"Whats the real reason you're here?" She put the umbrella down and calmed herself.

"I wanted to show Freddy how much I've changed. I wanted to see him, and you, and be able to talk with him after all these years." I felt my grandma soften up as she looked at me.

"Well, I guess we can reminisce about the past few years at dinner. For now, I'm going to go to the store. Freddy, get dressed you're coming with me." She walked up the stairs and disappeared. I looked at my father who sighed.

"Guess I should of waited for you to wake up..." He walked into the basement and shut the door. I looked around the house and followed him in to go change.

The room was quiet as the three sat in silence. Freddy's grandma was looking down at her plate, Freddy was doing the same. "Freddy, how have you been?" The father finally spoke, breaking the awkward quietness.

"I've... Been good. I still go on the computer, and I'm planning on going to college for it." Freddy automatically began to smile.

"Oh... Do you think you can really male money off your computer skills?" The disbelief in his fathers voice caused his smile to slowly fade away.

"I heard you could make a lot of money." The older lady snapped as she raised her fork to eat. The silence returned until Freddy decided to ask how his father has been.

"I've been... Recovering. The house has been really quiet." The father looked pitiful as he slowly ate. "Ive missed you dearly, Freddy. Why don't you visit, or come home with me?" He began to plead.

"Shut your mouth. Its too dangerous for him to be with you. You've ruined your chances." His grandmother glared at her son as he began to tear up.

"I'm sorry..." The man's voice cracked. Freddy began to feel his sadness and stood up.

"I'm gonna go to my room... thank you for the dinner, grandma." Freddy rushed out of the room and into his own. The father sniffed as he mother stood. She cleaned up the plates and walked to her room.

"..." The father aggressively stood as he made his way to the front door, and into the night.

Freddy grew curious as his father still wasn't showing up in the basement. He slowly walked up the stairs and onto the first level of the house. As if on cue the front door opened and slammed shut. Freddy quickly walked to the front to see his father standing in the dark. "Dad... Whre did you go-" I stopped myself when I turned on the light. He was standing, face down, a bottle in his hand, and he was nodding.

"Turn that light off FFreddy..." I felt tears form as he covered his eyes.

"You went out drinking... Didn't you?" He looked me in the eye, quickly looking down after seeing the sadness in his sons eyes.

"I didn't want you ta see me lik this... Again." He stumbled towards Freddy, only to have the boy back away.

"Leave this house." Freddy managed to say between clenched teeth. "You're a liar, and a filthy drunk. Leave me, and grandma, alone." The father stood in his spot while he watched his son walked away. He angrily looked at the ceiling and began to run up the stairs towards the old women's room. He swung open the door and started to make his way to the sleeping female. He took a swing of his drink and glared down at her sleeping form.

"Why did you have to take away the only thing I loved? My pride and joy, my son. My own mother..." His hands rushed towards her neck as he applied as much pressure are they could. The women's eyes shot open as she looked her attacker in the eye. She tried to scream but only choked out sounds. Her eyes were riddled with disbelief as she struggled to free herself. "Die..." The man spoke darkly. His eyes were locked on the women's and his hands were closing more and more. Her vision began to fade as her life was being taken from her. Her lifeless body laid there as the father hyperventilated. He threw the, now empty, bottle at the wall, cashing Freddy to stop in his tracks. He heard the sound and rushed towards it. As he stood stepped in front of the doorway he stared at his grandmothers dead body. His eyes widened as his eyes welled up with tears. The father turned his gaze from the floor to his son. "Freddy...." He started to inch towards him, but failed as Freddy ran towards the stairs. "GET BACK HERE!" He ran after his son in a drunk rage. As Freddy made it to the stairs he was pulled back by his father.

"LET GO OF ME!" Freddy screamed as he tried to free himself. It was no use, the father was much stronger due to his age. The father was so angered that he pushed his son down the stairs in order to make him weaker. Freddy tumbled down like a bag of potatoes. His father wasn't far after, of course he wasn't tumbling, though. Freddy laid limp as his father picked him up, throwing him to the side without mercy.

"WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME?!" He screamed as he stood at the bottom of the staircase. Freddy was still on the floor, somehow still conscious. "You could of told her no... You could of stayed with me, helped me. BUT YOU LEFT, YOU LEFT ME!" The father cried as he started to walk to Freddy. The boy laid on the ground as his father got on his knees. He slowly put his hands to Freddy's throat and started to apply pressure.
