《Melissa Shield X MaleReader》Chapter 4

It's been a solid three years since I've studied in I-Island Academy. Melissa and I are as closer as two planks stuck together. Right now, I am currently making a new device that enhances our strength.
[Y/N]: This seems dangerous. Hey, Amy, can you scan the prototype before we test it out.
Amy: Can do.
Amy scans the prototype as I wash my hands. I wipe my hands and look at the time and see that it's almost lunch time.
Amy: Scan Complete. Prototype is ready to be tested.
[Y/N]: Awesome. Let's do this!
I put the device around my wrist as it glows a bright red. I smiled as I tapped on the device and it envelopes my hand.
Amy: Preparing test subject #1.
A dummy ascends from the floor as I ball my hand into a fist. I then punched the dummy as hard as I can making it bounce around the room.
[Y/N]: WHOA! AMY, A LITTLE HELP!
Amy: On it.
A claw emerges out of the wall and it grabs the dummy before it could hit me. I sighed a relief as the claw puts the dummy down on the floor before submerging back into the wall.
[Y/N]: Let's see the dummy, shall we?
I checked the dummy as I see that the spot where I punched had a hole. I smiled as I tapped the device and it retracted back to my wrist.
[Y/N]: Looks like we did it! High five!
I raised my hand up into the air as a glove goes flying for my hand. It slaps my hand as it just falls to the ground.
[Y/N]: Eh. Close enough.
I hear a knock on the door as the door opens on it's own thanks to Amy. Melissa was now in view as I smiled at her.
[Y/N]: Hey, Melissa. What brings you here?
Melissa: Heard a couple crashes in here. Thought I should check.
[Y/N]: Don't worry. Just trying out a new prototype.
I say as I push the prototype on the table towards her. She picks it up and examines the prototype.
Melissa: A strength enhancer, huh? It's impressive how you use Nitinol to make this.
[Y/N]: Niti-what-now? I just used whatever goods for armor.
Melissa: *giggles* You don't know your metal, do you?
[Y/N]: I just ask Amy if it's good or not.
Amy: Study more, you lazy slime.
[Y/N]: Yeah, maybe later.
Melissa laughs as she places the prototype on the table, while I wash my hands. Melissa sees a picture of my mom and dad but the face of my dad was crossed out.
Melissa: Do you ever wonder what your dad looks like?
[Y/N]: Not interested. Mom said to mind my own business so I don't really care. Anyway, how's your side been doing?

Melissa: Doing well. Any plans for I-Expo tomorrow?
As this thought comes up I widened my eyes. I then look at Melissa and grab her shoulders.
[Y/N]: THANK YOU!
Melissa: U-Uhm- You're Welcome???
I run out the lab leaving Melissa in the lab. I came back to the lab to grab my phone and go back to leaving.
Melissa: What's that about?
Amy: Maybe he has thoughts on bringing a relative of his.
Melissa: Huh...
《~》
As I run through the crowd with a smile, I pulled a device out of my pocket and pressed it against my chest. The device made me invisible as I run to a place where it's secure.
I take out my phone and dialled a specific number and put it against me ear.
[Y/N]: Come on... pick up...
Mom: Hello?
[Y/N]: Mom!
Mom: [Y/N]! What is it!?
[Y/N]: Are you coming for I-Expo??
Mom: Oh... uhm... [Y/N]... things are actually complicated where I am... You see... Your father is back and I can't leave... I'm sorry.
With that, my mom just completely hangs up on me. I sighed as I dialled another number as I put it against my ear with a frown.
Izuku: Hello?
[Y/N]: Hey, Izuku. How is UA?
Izuku: [Y/N]! Well, UA's been great. How about I-Academy?
[Y/N]: Doing good. Actually, I wanted to-
I stop myself from talking since I thought about it. I didn't want to disturb him since he's attending UA to be a hero.
Izuku: [Y/N]? You there?
[Y/N]: Yeah... Uh... I just wanted to know how you were doing. It's been a while since I've seen you, Izuku.
Izuku: I know... I miss you, [Y/N].
[Y/N]: I miss you too, buddy. Alright, I need to go. I'll talk to you later.
Izuku: Bye, [Y/N]!
[Y/N]: See ya.
I hung up on him as I deactivated my invisibility as I just chuckled and walked back to the lab. The fact my own mother declined on coming to see her own son. He doesn't care about anything anymore.
My hands glew blue as I thrust my body forwards and appeared back in my lab. I sighed as I put my phone on the table and see the photo of my parents.
I grabbed it and turned it the other way so I couldn't see it. I looked back at my table and saw the device I made.
[Y/N]: Hmm. Hey, Amy?
Amy: Oh, you're back.
[Y/N]: Is it possible to make the strength enhancer into a somewhat into a full body armour?
Amy: It's not impossible. Why?
[Y/N]: Let's get to work. Put on some music, Amy!
My favourite song then starts playing through the speakers that was on my side table. I smiled as my hands started to glowed blue. The strength enhancer I was working on gradually started turning into a some kind of supersuit.

Amy: If you don't mind me asking. What is this for?
[Y/N]: Well, you see, heroes will need help as well or... you could even say assistance from the scientists.
I put on a smile as I finish up the suit by placing the helmet on it. I wiped the sweat of my forehead as I look at what's in front of me.
I smiled at seeing the result to my project. Amy scans the suit before realizing one thing.
Amy: [Y/N]. How are you going to wear this? I see no possible way you can get in.
[Y/N]: *smiles* That's where you're wrong, Amy. I don't wear the suit, the suit wears me.
I put on two devices on my wrist as it glows a bright blue. I smiled as I reached my hand towards the suit. The suit then flies towards me as if it was liquid. I heard a robotic gasp as I just chuckled.
Amy: I see. Nanotechnology. Not bad, Professor.
[Y/N]: Professor? That's the first.
Amy: Well, you are a scientist now.
[Y/N]: Eh. Not wrong. Maybe you are right. I'm a Professor.
Melissa: Nice suit, Professor.
I flinched as I quickly turned around and see Melissa leaning on the door. I touched a screen pad on my wrist as the suit goes back to where it was standing. I moved towards Melissa and did a special handshake that she doesn't know of.
Melissa: What was that?
[Y/N]: a handshake.
Melissa: Okay... Anyway, I was thinking about I-Expo tomorrow-
[Y/N]: Sure.
Melissa: H-Huh?
[Y/N]: Knowing you already, I bet you were gonna say if I wanted to go to I-Expo with you tomorrow. Am I right?
Melissa: Y-yes.
I chuckled and pat Melissa on the head considering that I'm taller than her now. She fixes her glasses and looks up at me trying to say something.
Melissa: I invited Uncle Might for I-Expo.
[Y/N]: Uncle Might? Melissa, that's great considering how much your dad talks about him.
Melissa: Yup! I didn't tell Papa that he was coming though so it's gonna be a surprise for him!
[Y/N]: That's amazing! Let's go see Professor David right now and see how he's doing!
Melissa: Okay!
Melissa and I run out of my lab as I heard a robotic chuckle coming from it. I rolled my eyes and kept running. I grabbed Melissa by the hand and she looks at me in shock.
[Y/N]: Hold on tight!
My hands glew blue again as I jumped forward and blinked to Professor David's lab. I let go of Melissa's hand and look at her to find her with stars in her eyes.
Melissa: That never gets old.
[Y/N]: Heh. Come on!
I ran inside the lab to find Professor David and find him in a some kind of room to rest in. He sees me and Melissa and gives us a gentle wave.
Professor David: Hey, you two. How's it been going at I-Academy?
[Y/N]: Going great!
Melissa: We came to see how you were doing.
Professor David: That's nice of you two. I'm fine. Come on, sit down. Have a glass of water.
Melissa runs to the seat next to Professor David as I blink to the other seat next to him. Professor David flinched when he saw me use my quirk since I haven't used it in a while around him.
[Y/N]: Still getting spooked by my little surprises, Professor?
Professor David: You bet I am. Oh and call me Dave. We've known each other for a while now and I've taken a liking to you.
[Y/N]: I don't think I can. I'll call you David though.
David: Hehe, Alright.
[Y/N]: Say... How long has it been since you've seen All Might?
David: Ah.. All Might, huh? I don't wanna be reminded by how old I am now.
The three of us laughed at the joke Dave made. Melissa then looked at me wanting me to start a conversation about All Might.
[Y/N]: Anyway, what is All Might like? You were his former sidekick, right?
David: That's right. All Might a great guy. Everytime he sees a crime going on he just jumps out of the car and fight crime. We used to be side by side no matter what. Now he's teaching at a school. That's crazy!
[Y/N]: You two were my favourite duo back then.
David: You two are my favourite duo right now!
Professor David rubs our heads as we just laugh at the father figure that Professor David is. Through these three years, the professor is the only person I can look up to as a father figure. Though, he is not my father it's still cool to have your idol as a father figure.
[Y/N]: Anyway, it was nice talking to you, Professor. I'm gonna go back to my lab. There's something I need to check on.
David: Alright. See ya, kid.
[Y/N]: See ya!
I blinked to my lab as Melissa and Professor David was left alone in the room. Professor David then looks at Melissa and puts on a smirk.
David: Did you ask him out yet?
Melissa: P-Papa!
David: What?? I need to know if my daughter is doing progress on the pretty boy.
Melissa: W-We're not dating yet but... I asked him out for I-Expo tomorrow!
David: That's great! Let me know if you guys start dating.
Melissa: *sigh* If only it were that easy, Papa...

The Eternal Vigil
The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication. Finally, if you find the writing style passable and are interested in my other works, check out the one in the link below. It is a fantasy set in the Ancient Greek world, and is completed and uploaded in full: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/35099/the-oresteia-modernized
