《Melissa Shield X MaleReader》Chapter 1

I got home from a long day of trying to build a device that grows and shrinks stuff as I got to the couch and laid down. I then took out my phone as I text one of my online friends. I was unsure if it was a she or a he but they called themself Mel.
[Y/N]
Hey, Mel. Anything new today?
Mel
Hey! Nope nothing new today. What about you?
[Y/N]
The usual. Trying to work on the shrinking/growing device is super hard.
Mel
Even if you fail or not, just know that I'll always be here to support you.
[Y/N]
Heh, thanks.
Mel
You're welcome. Anyway, I gotta go. My dad needs me.
[Y/N]
Alright, see ya.
I turned off my phone and sighed as I went outside to check on the mailbox. I opened it up and see an envelope thinking it's for my mom.
[Y/N]: Hey, mom! Is this for you?
Mom: Hm? No. I don't think so.
I looked at the envelope again as I see my name written on it. I then shrugged and walked back to my room.
[Y/N]: Let's see what's inside this envelope.
I opened the envelope as a device. I placed it on the table as a letter shows up as a hologram. I read it and widened my eyes before grabbing my mom and showing the letter to her.
Mom: Oh my god. [Y/N], you know what this means!
[Y/N]: I get to go to I-Island Academy!
Mom: You get to move out!
I was a little surprised as I looked at mom and gave of a chuckle which we both laughed. My mok then gave me a hug as I hug her back.
Mom: Congratulations, my dear. You worked really hard for this.
[Y/N]: And it was worth it.
Mom: Hehe. I'm proud of you.
I started crying as I hugged my mom tighter. My mom pats me on the back as I start to calm down.
[Y/N]: This is the happiest day of my life...
Mom: Alright, honey. You csn get some rest for the day. I'll help you pack tomorrow.
[Y/N]: Cool. Thanks.
My mom lets go of me as I sat down on my bed and lay down. I then sighed happily as I closed my eyes and drift off to sleep.
《~》
Mom: You got everything?
[Y/N]: Yes.
Mom: Toothbrush?
[Y/N]: Yes.
Mom: Tools?
[Y/N]: Yes.
Mom: Underwear?
[Y/N]: Oh my god. Of course yes!
Mom: I'm sorry. I'm just... so proud to see my son leaving for school.
[Y/N]: Heh, thanks mom. I'll make sure I keep in contact with you. I gotta go now.
Mom: Goodbye, dear! Have a nice flight!
I waved back as I smiled and thought about something. I then turn the other way and knock on the door of my friend's home.
Inko: Oh! [Y/N]! Nice seeing you here.

[Y/N]: Hey, Inko. Is Izuku around?
Izuku: [Y/N]!
He sees my luggage and backpack as he tilts his head.
Izuku: You're leaving?
[Y/N]: Well, short answer yes. Long answer is that I got accepted into I-Island Academy.
Izuku smiles as he runs up to me and hugs me as I hug him back.
Izuku: You're gonna be the best scientist ever, [Y/N]! I believe in you!
[Y/N]: Heh, thanks, Izuku. I just came to say goodbye.
I then kneeled to his height as I held onto his shoulders and gave off a smile.
[Y/N]: One day, you'll become a hero and you're gonna keep that smile of yours, alright?
Izuku: Haha! you got it!
I smiled as I straigthened myself and turned around. I walk away and wave to them as a tear drops down from my eye.
[Y/N]: Goodbye, everyone.
I got to the airport and got on my plane as I look out the window. I then smiled and took out one of my favourite books about science.
[Y/N]: Time to catch up now.
《~》
Pilot: We are now arriving to I-Island. Please make sure your safety belts are on and tight.
I woke up from my sleep as I look out the window and see I-Island. I smiled as I tightened my safety belt.
Pilot: We are now landing. Hold tight everyone.
I was too excited to listen as I put my stuff in my bag. The plane landed as I grabbed my passport and took out a device I made.
I unboarded the plane as I rush out and see the amazing I-Island. I was walking towards the I-Island Academy until suddenly, I bumped into someone.
[Y/N]: Sorry! That was my bad. I was rushing.
???: There's no need to say sorry, Young Man. I see that you are headed to the academy.
[Y/N]: Yeah. It's my dream to become a scientist. I'm [Y/N].
Sam: Sam. Nice to mert you, [Y/N]. Well, I wish you good luck for your future.
[Y/N]: Hehe, thanks!
As Sam leaves and I was left going to the Academy, I looked back at the letter of my approval as I quickly make my way to class.
Teacher: Alright, knowing you all, you were probably approved by the same letter sent by David Shield, right?
Everyone: Yes, sir!
Teacher: Great, we will now introduce you all to your own labs.
I gasped in shock, not knowing that we would be having our own labs. A blonde-headed girl that was really atteactive then nudged me as I looked at her.
???: Didn't think we would get our own labs, huh?
[Y/N]: Heh, yeah. I'm actually kinda surprised.
Melissa: Well, I'm not surprised. I kinda expected it. I'm Melissa. Nice to meet you, [Y/N].
[Y/N]: Oh, Nice to meet you to- wait how do you know my name?
Before she could answer my question she already left to her lab. I was confused for a second but shrugged it off and went over to my own lab.

???: Welcome, [Y/N][L/N], to your new lab.
[Y/N]: Huh? Who's there?
Computer: I am your lab computer. Each and every lab has a computer built in it.
[Y/N]: Oh, cool. So, you're like Jarvis from Iron Man?
Computer: *robotic sigh* yes.
[Y/N]: Awesome! Then, I'll call you.... Amy?
Amy: Amy? Why?
[Y/N]: I'll feel bad calling you computer all the time. It's better to give you a name.
Amy: I understand. Thank you.
[Y/N]: You're welcome. Anyway, are we free to do anything in our labs?
Amy: Yes. Is there something you would like to do?
[Y/N]: I was actually working on this device I've been carrying the whole day. Mind helping me figuring out why it doesn't work?
Amy: With pleasure.
《~》
[Y/N]: And done! Thanks, Amy! You're the best!
Amy: I am merely just a computer but I take your compliment, Mr. [L/N].
[Y/N]: Please, call me [Y/N].
Amy: Okay, Mr. [Y/N].
[Y/N]: No no, Just [Y/N].
Amy: Okay, Mr. Just [Y/N].
[Y/N]: Okay, now you're just poking fun at me.
Amy: It's always pleasing to make fun of you, [Y/N].
[Y/N]: Yeah yeah, whatever.
Just then a knock was heard through the door. I walked over to it and opened it as Melissa stood there smiling.
Melissa: Hey, [Y/N]. You seem like you're getting used to the place.
[Y/N]: Oh, Melissa. Yeah, it's cool. Anyway, I didn't get to ask. How'd you know my name?
Melissa: Oh? I didn't think you wouldn't recognize an online friend like me.
[Y/N]: Wait......... Mel!?
Melissa: Hahaha. That's me!
[Y/N]: Oh my god, I would never have guessed that. You never told me you were a girl!
Melissa: Surprise!
I laughed and welcomed her in my lab as I leaned on my workbench and just chuckled.
[Y/N]: I can't believe it's really you. It's hard to call you Mel now because I'm used to calling you that by text.
Melissa: You'll be more surprised later.
[Y/N]: What's going on later?
Melissa: You'll see. Anyway, I gotta go now. See you later, [Y/N]!
She then leaves the lab as I was stood there with a small smile and my hand raised to the air.
[Y/N]: See you later.
Amy: Someone has a crush.
[Y/N]: W-what!? N-no! I don't have a crush on Melissa!
Amy: I find that hard to believe.
[Y/N]: Oh my god... Can we just go straight to testing our device now?
Amy: As you wish.
I grabbed the device and put it on my wrist as I get ready to test it out. I then take a deep breath as I pressed the button until the world started getting bigger.
[Y/N]: Whoa...
I was the size of an ant and even Amy didn't seem to realize it. Well, until she scanned the lab to search me.
Amy: Excellent work, [Y/N].
[Y/N]: Thanks, Amy. Now, to regrow it's this button, right?
Amy: It seems like it.
I pressed the button as I regrowed back into my normal size as my stomach starts aching.
[Y/N]: Amy, pull out the puke bin.
Amy: Right away.
A bin then was taken out of the wall as I rushed towards it and puke. I could hear the faint sound of Amy being disgusted as I wipe my mouth.
[Y/N]: Blegh. The after effects of the shrinking and growing device needs to be fixed. Let's start over.
Amy: Yes, sir.
《~》
After some tinkering with the device we finally figured out the final equation and we tested it out to see that it was completely perfect.
[Y/N]: We did it! Give me five!
I hold my hand out in the air as a robotic arm came out of the wall and gave me a high five.
[Y/N]: Now, it's time for a break. This one device was incredibly hard to work on. See you in a bit, Amy.
Amy: Alright.
I walked out of my lab as I made my out of the academy. I found a place to sit as I took out an apple.
Melissa: Funny seeing you here. Mind if I sit next to you?
[Y/N]: Oh, Melissa. Sure, you can sit.
She sits down next to me as I was eating my apple and looked at everything in this island.
[Y/N]: It's incredible that I'm here. I'm happy.
Melissa: I know you are. Considering how much you talked about it.
[Y/N]: Heh, I still can't believe that you're Mel. You're alot more attractive than I expected.
Melissa: A-attractive?
[Y/N]: Shit! I said it out loud! That was uh.... nothing. I was saying you were not how I expected. I didn't even know you were here.
Melissa: There's alot you don't know about me. Who do you look up to again?
[Y/N]: Oh! David Shield! He's the best scientist that worked alongside All Might! I can't wait to meet him!
Melissa: Hehehe. Follow me. I got something to show you.
[Y/N]: A-alright.
Melissa leads me to a somewhat large lab as we enter it and we entered a room where she had to come in first.
Melissa: Papa, I'd like to introduce you to someone.
???: And who might this someone be?
Wait. That voice...
Melissa: He's a friend of mine who came for the Academy.
???: Oh? A friend of yours is a friend of mine, Melissa. I'll gladly meet this friend of yours.
Melissa: You can come out now, [Y/N].
I walked around the corner and the very person that stood infront of me was the one person who I hoped to meet for a very very long time.
[Y/N]: D-D-D-D-David Shield!!

Living in Paradise
The first thing I saw when I woke up was a group of people standing over me shouting "Happy Birthday!!!". Immediately after they start debating what type of world I came from and calling me 'William'. Later on I would learn that everyone here is reborn from another world and many children come with magic or superpowers or other gifts leftover from their old lives. I came from a world that was, to me, typical modernity. To them it was pretty boaring with the only thing interesting about my world being was a higher than average tech level for a non-spacefaring civilization; technology that wouldn't even work in this new world. All I brought with me was a peculiar mindset and the strong suspicion that there must be something more to life. Once everyone started to clear out my mother took me up in her arms, explained how the world works, and then stabbed me in the neck with a knife. I got better. -------------------- This story was written from the central idea of a simple question: What if a videogame like world, with all the normal video-game staples and tropes, was actually a real world? How would that work? How would people understand the universe around them? What sort of weirdness would the world appear to have from the point of view of someone who recognizes the odd nature of the place? And finally, if left to its own devices, how would this type of world ultimately develop?

Demons Don't Lie
Algier, average human and recent convict, has committed the gravest sin of all: demon slaying. His fate? To participate in the Culling, a battle-royale style tournament that’s televised live to the world, where all the worst criminals go to die. As with all tournaments, a prize is on the line. If Algier survives, he can have any wish granted by the Marquises, the new rulers of Earth following the demons’ invasion. However, there’s little hope for survival in a tournament designed to have demons do the work of the executioner, especially for a human. Demons are stronger, faster, wiser, and more talented than the average human, and, despite his crime, Algier is no demon hunter. Mentally defeated before the tournament even begins, Algier is torn between becoming another demon’s points and fighting on in his dead mother’s legacy. But should he choose to fight, there is one advantage that Algier has that can tip the odds in his favour: Demons don’t lie, but humans can. How to read this story Demons Don't Lie is written from the perspective of an unreliable (lying) narrator. There are many inconsistencies within the story which are placed there intentionally. It's up to the reader to decide what is the truth and what is the lie. Promotion Full quality cover image

Author's disclosure: My purpose in this novel is to explore trading and adventure in a magic world. I'll try to put some humor and good fights in the novel to make it more fun. This is a spin-off novel of AK – The Alchemy Kingdom. You don't have to read the other novel to understand or follow this one. It might offer some additional information and entertainment, tough. You can also check my other spin-off novel, Harbinger of Death, which will be more action-focused and a little grimdark. Even if you are not a fan of the genre, give it a chance. I'm adding some soft romance in the hopes to make it unique and interesting. I'm trying to improve my writing skills, so your comments and reviews are welcome. New chapters three times a week. Majority Rule
Readers choose from a selection of options for participants of a survival game show known as "Can Anyone Beat Level 10?". Each level has some monsters to kill and a boss at the end. Treasure chests and traps are available. Treasure chests, if opened successfully, give decent weapons, first aid kits, etc. If unsuccessful, treasure chests will either explode, taking some health from player or do become permanently closed. Monsters in dungeon levels depend on the theme of the week. This game show occurs on the first week of every month. The game just showed up out of nowhere and many people were interested in it as they attended the live version of the show. As for its mysteries...well, who knows? Maybe someone will solve them some day. But, for now, let the games begin! This is a story that depends on the votes of the viewers using the poll system. I will probably wait a week or so per poll in order to accumulate enough votes. After the week is up, viewers can still vote but it won't affect the story. This is my first interactive fiction so it might not be on par with the better ones. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed reading this story. Thanks.
