Sleep was the last thing on your mind when it came to sleeping in the same bed with Tooru. Instantly mesmerized the way he breathed peacefully with a motionless face and parted lips, the way the morning light rayed down from the window to his milky skin, he shined so much brighter on his bed.
God, he looks so hot while sleeping.
You stared at his sprawled form with elbows propped on the pillow to cradle your head. His single arm still hooked underneath you that is likely numb from your weight. Tooru laid flat on his back when you leaned to peck a small kiss against his jaw, watching him twitch at the unknowing touch and then face your side to hug around your body. You swallowed at his limp weight on top of you, slightly suffocating you.
Careful not to move him, you managed to slip your body through his arms to break free without waking him. Toes curled against the floor as you waltzed across the room to find the spare bathroom. Luckily, you found the toothbrush and extra towel by the rack to commence your normal morning routine. As you smelled yourself, Tooru's signature scent clung to you from last night and it stayed on like perfume.
With that thought in mind, it made you giddy - a sense of pride filled you up that you smelled just like him.
From yesterday's turn of events, cooking breakfast for the two Oikawas is an idealistic morning welcome. It was shortly after when you heard a pair of feet walking from their room when you began to pull the fridge open.
"Whatcha doing there, pretty lady?"
You jumped at Tooru's voice behind you and closed the fridge shut. His body leaned against the counter with arms across his chest, hair waved wildly from his waken slumber. Overall, you were captivated by the morning tone in his voice.
"Fixing up breakfast," you replied innocently with a pack of bacon behind your back, "if you don't mind."
"Not at all," he gave a sleepy smile, approaching behind you to give a small kiss behind your head. "Thought waking up next to you would be a sight, but seeing you in an apron with my clothes is quite better."
"Just saving you from burning your expensive groceries," you laughed but captured when you felt his hands trace your hips to pull your back against his chest.
"How thoughtful," he tittered, swaying your body with his in a playful motion, almost dancing around in the kitchen. "Feel free to use anything but leave the dishes for me at the end, 'kay?"
When he released you from his grip, your face reddened when you felt him give a quick slap at your ass. Slamming your hand where he touched you, your mouth widened at him in shock but his innocent smile masked the sadistic look on his face.
"I'm going to wake up Tetsu and give him a bath," he informed before walking away, stretching his arm above his head as a few bones popped in his shoulder.
Still stumped by his bold move, that bastard teased you and walked away without a care in the world. What a freak.
It wasn't long until you made breakfast. A simple omelette, bacon, and toast would boost today's adventures and a bowl of fruit salad. There wasn't much to assemble in Tooru's kitchen since it lacked most common essentials so this is the best you can whip up.
Momentarily, you heard the door flung open and feet pitter-patter against the wooden floor. Out came a completely drenched and naked Tetsu running, screaming with a high pitch laugh followed by his father who is chasing him with a towel - even he is also half-naked and soaked. The erupted noise disrupted your morning peace and kitchen remedy, watching them from a far to play cat and mouse.

"Daddy can't catch me!" the boy screeched while running around the couch and circled Tooru to run to where you are. "[Name], hide me!"
"Oh no, you don't, little guy," he warned with a wicked grin, attempting to gain on his son's tail as they ran around the island counter where you were chopping the crowns off the strawberries.
Your leg flinched when Tetsu's cold, wet hands held onto your calf to hide himself in between your legs.
"Tetsu! I have a knife here," your warning didn't reach the boy's ears as he squealed when Tooru came running.
"Gotcha!" then he was immediately scooped by the older brunette with the white towel engulfing his tiny body.
The toddler's screams were muffled against the plush material and then bursted out laughing once Tooru's hands tickled his sides. Chuckling at the two, you put the chef knife down and patted your hands on a cleaning towel before assisting the man to dry the boy's head, ruffling his cackling head and fair hair.
"Daddy caught me!" Tetsu sang once his head popped out of the towel, but then his eyes aimed at the food you plated on the counter. "Oh, the bread is not black this time!"
"Black?" you questioned his odd comment and wondered your eyes at Tooru who averted his attention away from you, embarrassed. "Have you been giving him burnt toast?"
"Burnt toast is yummy because Daddy makes it," the smaller Oikawa argued and you felt Tooru gave a smile in triumph.
His nose stuck in the air as he said, "As long as my son likes it, then that's an achievement in my book."
He doesn't learn, but you can't blame him since Tetsu is awfully nice to insult his dad's awful cooking. A pout reached your lips.
"You shouldn't even be giving him that," you scolded while pushing the damp boys out of the kitchen for them to change up. "Get dressed, or else one of you will get a cold."
"Such a party pooper," Tooru teased, carrying his son in his arms back to the bathroom again.

You were just about done with setting up the dining table when Tooru and Tetsu walked out of their changing rooms, fully dressed and eager to eat by the looks of their starving outlooks. Tetsu was the first one to sit as his beaming eyes glowed at the pretty presentation of the food you made. You would assume that this is his first time seeing a homemade breakfast that isn't touched by his father.
"That plate has a face on it!" the little boy pointed, not knowing that it is his.
The berries remained in its assigned place when you pushed the plate closer to him, "It's yours, buddy. Make sure don't play with it too much."
"It is?" he stared with a gaping mouth, then replaced by a smile. "Wow! I like [Name]'s food."
"How about me? Where's my plate with a face on it?" whined the older Oikawa who sat next to his boy.
As you rolled your eyes, you just placed the empty saucer in front of him with only chopsticks and a butter knife. "You're not the one who's four, Tooru."
"What is that?" Tetsu pointed at a jar sitting by the eggs and you brought it closer to him while you spread the red substance onto the crispy slice of bread.
"It's strawberry jam. I made it."
"You made it?" Tooru's eyes blinked in amazement. "In my kitchen?" The fact that you created something in his bare kitchen completely blew his mind away.

You shrugged, acting as if it isn't such a hard task to do. "Yeah, it was no biggie. It's good for three days."
"[Name] is so cool!" applauded Tetsu. "She can make everything! Isn't she cool, Daddy?!"
A brief pause came from the brown headed male while peering at your form taking a seat next to Tetsu. An appreciative hum emitted from his lips while getting lost in his thoughts as the corners of his mouth twitched in an endearing smile. He looked almost smitten.
"Yeah...," the brunette swooned with a hand underneath his chin, narrowing his eyes at you softly with a long sigh. "Yeah, she is."
Before you even noticed his alluring eyes on you, a sound erupted from the athlete's pants. His eyes already glowered at you in an apologetic manner as he dug for his singing phone to check the caller ID, then he looked back at you.
"Is it okay if I...?" he trailed but you nodded before he got to finish his sentence, seeing the screen that he flashed shown his work call.
Screeching the chair back, Tooru picked up the call while he removed himself from the table and walked to the patio to seek privacy. You've waited for him to come back until the two of you can start on your breakfast. In the meantime, you helped Tetsu feeding him his fruits first.
"Do you like staying here with us, [Name]?" the youngling asked after chewing a small blueberry.
Your head nodded while cutting up his bacon in pieces. "I do. I always have fun here."
"Then, it would be nice if [Name] sleeps over all the time!" indicated Tetsu and you stopped your knife from cutting any more of his bacon, glancing back at him with a wondering stare. His brown pools widened at the idea when he stated that as another grin reached on his face. "It's no fun when [Name] isn't here. It's get so lonely."
His announcement stunned you. As much as you want to accept his offer, you resisted yourself from agreeing. You never thought of moving in with them - with anybody in particularly unless it's with your family. Is it too soon to think about that?
The thought of it made you a bit uncomfortable yet confused. However, living with Tetsu and Tooru would be a dream come true. Everyday would be a new beginning with them and you get to see the little boy grow. Not only him, but your attachment for the kid will definitely grow also, and it will soon become a parent's love.
But your mind stopped imagining the endless possibilities when you heard the patio door open to reveal Tooru entering back inside. You noticed his eyes weren't on you but they were at the floor while he strolled over to the dining table, looking puzzled and distressed.
"Is something wrong?" you asked with a genuine tone.
Astonishment came to his eyes once he heard your voice, sitting himself back in his chair and shook his head feverishly.
"No, no," he urged, regaining back his composure to give back his smile. "Let's eat! I'm starving."
Of course, you caught the change in behavior - something that you didn't ignore but you plan to confront him about it later. Instead, you allowed them to feast their breakfast.
Morning with them seemed like the usual. Tooru's odd demeanor didn't hinder during the conversations you and Tetsu had with him. For a moment he was himself and babbled like the idiot he is.
It was until he motioned for Tetsu to get ready to go shopping with you and bake the cake at your house since you already have the needed equipment installed in your kitchen. Plus, Tooru wouldn't be home to watch you two make a mess due to his job.
Dressed in his athletic uniform, he sat on the couch while you two waited for the child to be done changing in his room. Now that it was just the two of you, perhaps it would be better to interrogate him about his phone call without Tetsu's presence. So, you sat down on the couch with him as he raised his arm to let it rest behind your head.
Before you had the chance, the brunette beat you on the subject.
"Send me your receipt after you're done shopping," the Oikawa ordered with a relaxed expression.
Your brow curved. "Why?"
"I want to pay for the cake, of course," he said in a matter of fact tone, unbothered by your dazzled face.
Your hand waved at him, refusing his generous favor and laughed. "Tooru, it's not needed. I don't want you to be a sugar daddy."
By your simple mention, although it was a joke, he took that quite seriously as a charming grin stretched on his lips. A bright idea that was, it sent his mind to other places, making him lean closer to your face.
"Oh. I can be," he suggested with eyes growing dark and tone becoming sultry. His curled finger brushed against your warm cheek as he cooed, "which I simply don't mind. Maybe pay me back for some... hanky-panky?"
You hit his chest as a few entertaining laughs escaped from his lips, catching him in his teasing moment but you knew he wasn't kidding. The man is thirsty for you but you have to remind him to be proper when his son is present.
Clearing your throat, you wavered the topic off before you began to do your questioning. The aura between you two felt care-free, seeing it as a chance to challenge him.
"By the way, are you sure you're okay?"
Suddenly, the playful expression on his face disappeared when you reminded him about his phone call earlier. The smile faltered into a pondering frown and his eyes stared at you in contemplation. Then he bursted a sigh when looking away from your studying facade.
"I got a call from work," he began, "to coach, starting tomorrow and all throughout the week."
His answer pieced his crestfallen expression earlier. Immediately, you felt concern, not only for him, but for Tetsu. It is his birthday tomorrow.
"Are you going to take it?" you asked.
His fingers drummed on the couch while putting his foot over his knee and muttered quietly, "I'm trying to refuse but they won't let me have it."
"Well, they can't call you last minute. They have to book you, don't they?" you attempted to argue, trying to find a solution in his situation to spend the day with his boy.
"That's what I've been trying to tell them, but they wanted me to coach tomorrow. They know they're asking at the last notice so that's why they're offering a lot of money for it, but I-... I don't know if I should refuse. It's a good team and the money they're giving will be good for the bills," he explained with a mixed emotions and you can hear the dilemma stressing in his voice. "If I take this, I don't need to worry about coaching for a couple months. I can just worry about my modeling gigs and I can spend all my free time with Tetsu... with you."
As much as you like the sound of the idea, you didn't excuse for him to miss on his son's birthday that he promised to spend. You were even disappointed, because it will be the first time you get to spend with them together outside of their home.
But you can understand his role. It's not you taking everything, it was him. So, the idea of having to worry less in the near future would be a logical decision.
"It's going to break the poor kid's heart if you don't go," you reminded but he didn't react.
His lips tightened by picturing Tetsu's complaints and cries. He wasn't really sure how he would react. "I know, which is why I'm going to talk to them today and see if we can arrange it for another time."
"Should you tell Tetsu? Just to let him know what's going on?" you suggested but Tooru wasn't sold on doing such a thing. The nerves prickled his skin and made him have cold feet.
"I don't want to tell him unless I know for sure," he said so.
"You don't want to shock him though," you retorted, holding his arm in a soothing motion to ease him. Your eyes gave him an assuring look, "Just communicate with him. See how he feels. He might understand."
Your aid gave comfort to him but the worry in his eyes didn't leave entirely as he speculated your placid expression. "I don't know... I love him to death."
"I'm sure he knows that," you appeased with a smile, helping him to loose the ounce of doubt he had for himself. When you thought he was going to disbelieve your words, Tooru returned your smile.
"Daddy! [Name]! I'm ready!" just when the conversation ended, Tetsu came barging through the living room in his cap and backpack in his shoulders.
"Tetsu," the taller brunette stood to crouch in front of his son. "I gotta tell you something."
The child blinked. "What is it?"
Before Tooru can proceed to spill his turmoil, he glanced back at you in thought but you gestured him a sweet nod to continue. Tetsu only tilted his head at the two of you, unable to detect the intense air flowing through his dad's body.
With a gulp, Tooru kept his composure and gave a stern look at him. With a gentle whisper, he denounced him with a lulling visage, hoping to not scare his child or perhaps not to hurt him.
"There's a chance I may not make it to your birthday."
Then, after a short pause, you can sense the little boy's pupils dilating at the formulated words.

I Want You to Remember Me
A simple romantic tale of a... girl meeting a... boy. Trust and love both take time to grow, but growing together is also a lot of fun. A handful of disclaimers and claims: First, this is fan fiction, set in the “Amaranthine Saga” universe written by Forthright. The story and characters, on the other hand, are wholly my own (fault). I highly encourage you to read the stories from the “Amaranthine Saga” before reading this; the latter half of this story will make a whole lot more sense if you do. Second, this is a relatively short and stand-alone story. The completed story should clock in around 10,000 words, so please do not expect a novel, let alone a series. Third, while this is a romantic story, I’ve never been a fan of the usual romance “misunderstanding” tropes. Think of this as more of a romantic slice-of-life story than an action or traditional romance story. Finally, thank you for reading. :)

The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield
***The wrong girl is sometimes The Right One.*** Charlotte Samuels thought she'd be stuck waiting tables at Marlow's until all her debts are paid off-in about ten thousand years or so. She definitely didn't expect a marriage proposal from the arrogant Brandon Maxfield who was blackmailed by his father to make her his wife if he didn't want his least favorite cousin to run Maxfield Industries. Charlotte's instinct was to say HELL NO! but she's stumped by a few obstacles: 1.) His old man Martin Maxfield is dear to her heart and has been recently deteriorating in health. 2.) She gets a million dollars if she stays married to Brandon for a year. 3.) She would rather like the opportunity to teach the attractive but awfully rude man a few lessons he didn't think he needed from a 'teenage gold-digger' which was his term of endearment for her on their first date-er, business meeting. So what's a girl got to do, right? Sure, she's young and a little rough around the edges but there's something her would-be husband didn't know about her yet-she's nothing like he ever expected. Thrust into the glitzy world a standard-issue Mrs. Maxfield would fit perfectly and rule with impeccable social grace, Charlotte will either have to force herself into the mold or break free of it, risking what little she has left for everything that she can gain.*** Copyright © 2014 by Nina Tippett.
