《》Chapter Twelve

It was a bit more awkward then I had first thought it would be as we finished the food brought out to us, along with the delicious dessert that Minato had ordered for the table.Maybe because last time around during this moment I had just been with my family.
Naruto had also gotten me something, but that had been about it.
"Ready to open your gifts now?" asked Sakumo with a smirk as he looked between Kakashi and me. "Everyone is finished eating after all."
"Asahi first," answered Kakashi making me send him a look before shaking my head.
None refuted what he had said causing me to sigh but reach for the first gift now placed back in front of me. Seems I would be opening Obito's gift first. Though from the nervous look he was giving me made me wonder if I should have waited to open his last, or in private.
I gave Obito one last reassuring smile before focusing down onto the wrapped present set in front of me. I had to hold back a slightly fond laugh considering how messy the wrapping was which showed he had wrapped it himself.
From the bandages on his fingers I would guess it had led to a few paper cuts.
Something similar had happened with Kiba hilariously enough.
"Oh wow," I breathed with wide eyes filled with awe as I took in the object resting gently in the middle of the box. "You really didn't have to go this far, Obito."
Because staring back at me was a finely crafted Fuinjutsu Master inks and brushes along with sealing parchment of high quality as well. Minato had been teaching me fuinjutsu a bit but had used the lower quality brushes and equipment.
This wasn't something a beginner usually got considering how high the quality was. It also wasn't cheap either meaning he had really gone all out on my gift.

"So you like it?" wondered Obito eyes gleaming as he leaned toward me while fixing the goggles upon his face.
A small laugh escaped me as I reached out to push his goggles to rest atop his head before leaning forward to kiss his cheek. It was as I turned to Kakashi who let out a loud growl that I ended up missing Obito turn a brilliant before letting out a yelp of pain as Inoichi slammed his elbow into the other stomach.
Though I was curious as to why Obito was yelping in pain when I turned back around.
"My turn," cut in Inoichi as he surged forward to snatch up a beautiful wrapped purple box before shoving it into my hands. "Something tells me you're really going to love this."
Inoichi had made me handmade soaps, shampoo, and conditioner for when I wasn't out on a mission with a soft scent of vanilla and honey causing me to send him a beaming smile while I looked through the bottles in front of me. Ino had done something similar after finding out my love of good smelling soaps.
Once again, this moment was bringing up some of my fondest memories of before.
Not that I minded in this case.
"This is amazing Inoichi," I stated reaching once more over the table to pull the other into a tight hug before pulling away making him pout. "I can just imagine how long it took to make all of this so it means the world to me that you did this!"
Choza's gift was just as thoughtful and had me reaching over to give him a kiss on the cheek as well without thought as I admired the fuinjutsu scroll belt that would attach to my waist with slots for my scrolls.

Shikaku also received a kiss to the cheek once I noticed the medical pouch fully stocked he had gotten me in a dark green with a set of antlers embroidered onto it. The last gift I opened from my friends was from Shisui and he had gotten me a few scrolls on Earth and Lightening jutsu.
"How come they each got a kiss and I didn't?" pouted Inoichi causing me to let out a small snort of amusement while Rin giggled.
"Oh fine," I faked a sigh before plopping a kiss to his cheek making him beam even as I turned to Rin as she handed me her own gift. "Thank you sister dearest."
She had made two knitted scarves for Ōkami and Tenshi along with a larger one for myself. The hug I pulled her into was tight and filled with the pure love I had for her, she truly was an amazing sister to me.
"Thanks for the gifts," choked out Kakashi between his teeth causing me to turn back toward him as he shifted to sit almost in my lap with how close he was. "They're all great and I really appreciate them."
"Try it without the death aura," teased Kushina with a snicker making Minato sigh with a sheepish chuckle as he yanked Kushina back down by the collar of his shirt. "Hey, watch how your pulling on me pretty boy!"
It was the next day that we settled back into the Academy classroom to learn what teams we would be placed upon causing me to wonder if I would be messing up the future Team Seven that was under Minato.
"Morning brats," called out Inuzuka-sensei as he overlooked the scroll holding team placement making wonder where our original sensei was. "Team Seven is Hatake Kakashi, Inuzuka Asahi, and Uchiha Shisui under the command of Namikaze Minato."
I had ruined what had originally been Team Seven even as another part of me wondered why Shisui hadn't told us he had taken the Genin Exam with us. It also bothered me that I hadn't noticed him during it since my attention had been on scoring a high score to prove I deserved to be promoted to Genin.
It also meant I would have to get him a nice congratulations gift on making Genin.
"Well would you look at that," cheered Shisui with a bright grin as he came to plop down on my free side while Kakashi glared at him. "So, a Uchiha, Hatake, and Inuzuka walked into a room. Sounds like a bad joke, huh?"
I didn't know what to say to be honest. Kakashi and I both were good at tracking so placing us on the same team seemed to be unbalanced choice. Not that my thoughts mattered since the reason they really could have done it was because of our age.
Too much was unknown leaving me to push it aside while I focused onto talking to Shisui about what he thought the real Genin test would be like, not surprised he was also aware of it.
This should be interesting.
