"We had a deal! You protect my unborn child, I dismantle Marcel's army. And whilst I've been busy fulfilling my part of the bargain, you allowed Evie and Hayley to be attacked and almost killed by a gaggle of lunatic witches." Klaus growls, angrily.

"I had nothing to do with it, I swear. Hayley and I are linked, remember? She dies, I die. And the witches need Evie alive to get Davina." Sophie says, raising her hands in frantic defence.

"I hate witches." I mutter, quietly to myself.

"Then who were they?" Rebekah asks, sounding confused as she raps me up in a blanket.

"They are a faction of extremists. Sabine stupidly told them about some vision she had about the baby."

"Who's Sabine," I ask, absently playing with Klaus's hand while everyone else seems alert and focused.

" What kind of vision?" Klaus asks, suspicion lacing his tone as he squeezes my hand lovingly.

"She has them all the time. They are totally open to interpretation. I'm guessing she's wrong on this one." Sophie says, forgetting to explain things properly to every 'patient' person in the room.

" Well, how, may I ask, was this particular vision interpreted?" Klaus asks, well-snaps.

"Pretty much that your baby would bring death to all witches." Sophie shrugs as if she does not believe it.

"Ah, well. I grow fonder of this child by the second." Klaus says, his eyes travelling towards my stomach as I shrug,

"Has their Mothers support too." The witch looks between Klaus and I in disbelief, scowling as the both of us shrug at her, sharing a mutual dislike towards witches.

"Sophie, look-- I promised Elijah that I would protect the Mikaelson miracle-baby whilst he tries to win your witch Davina's loyalty. Why don't you tell me just how extreme this faction is?" Rebekah asks, not making a comment about witches... She probably hates them to...

" Elijah's talking to Davina?" Sophie asks, shocked as her eyebrows raise and her eyes increase visibly in size."I'm guessing she'll have plenty to say about that crowd." She says, her face slowly returning to normal.

"Do tell."Klaus says, intrigued.

" I... wasn't always an advocate for the witches."She sighs, staring down at her lap nervously.

She takes some time, explaining some sort of harvest ritual where the witches slaughter their own young ones to suit their selfish lust for power... I told you they're a bunch of cats...With sharp claws... and no hair because usually, they don't have very pretty personalities.

" What the bloody hell is a Harvest?" Rebekah asks once the witch has finished her awfully long, awfully boring speech.

"It's a ritual our coven does every three centuries so that the bond to our ancestral magic is restored. We appease our ancestors, they keep our ancestral power flowing." Sophie says, her frown expanding.

"And why haven't I heard of this?" Klaus asks, not sounding in the half annoyed....

"Because a Harvest always seemed like a myth. A story, passed on through generations like Noah's ark, or the Buddha walking on water. The kind some people take literally, and some people don't." She sighs.

"I thought Jesus was the one that walked on water..." Klaus sighs, squeezing my hand again.

"They had the girls of our community preparing for months. Four would be chosen for the Harvest. They said that it was an honour, that they were special. I thought it was a myth." Sophie continues, ignoring mine and Klaus's commentary.

"Yes because everyone is just dying to get killed..." I trail off.

"You can't go out there now. I need to gather the witches' remains and consecrate them. If I don't get to them before sundown, we'll lose the link to their magic." Sophie says, catching onto the end of Klaus's phone call.

"Those witches tried to kill Evie. I'd prefer for Marcel's informant not to find anything that would lead him back to us, to her, or to... you know..." He points at my swelling stomach," Evie's bump is getting too big now for loose clothes and magic to hide it." He sighs.

" Stay put. And save the rest of your story 'til I return."Klaus says, pointing at Sophie while pressing a gentle kiss to my cheek.

"Hey. What the hell?" Sophie says, turning to look at Hayley and I as the three of us stand in the cemetery... Yes, non of us listened to Klaus's demands. We are 'independent'.

"You're going out there anyway, aren't you? I -" Hayley pauses, looking at me with a smile, "We wanna go with you."

"No, thanks. Already got assaulted by Klaus this morning. Don't need a repeat." Sophie says, giving us her attempt at an intimidating look.

"I will assault you if you do not take us with you," I bare my teeth at her threateningly.

"Listen. The whole reason I came to this stupid town in the first place was to learn more about my family. Your sister's the one that told me Marcel ran the werewolves out of the Quarter into the Bayou. And last night, I'm pretty sure that some guardian-angel-wolf saved my life. So, I'm coming with you" Hayley snaps, her motives completely different to mine...I just want an adventure.

"Could you two be more idiotic?"She, Rebekah asks, looking between Sophie and Hayley before turning to me,"I'm not even going to ask you because I already know the answer." I shrug as she sighs, rolling her eyes at me.

" Two can play the follow-game, you know! You heard Klaus, he and Marcel are headed right where you're going."Rebekah says, as if that would change our minds. Hayley smirks.

"So distract them. Because unless you wanna lock a hormonal, pregnant werewolf in a tomb, we're coming with you. And wouldn't Elijah be mad if he hears that Evie and the baby died of asphyxiation?"

"What's asphyxiation?"I ask.

Rebekah stares at us both, rolling her eyes whilst Sophie sighs, officially stuck with the three of us.

"So, this Harvest thingy—- tell me more." Rebekah says, her arm dangling loosely around my shoulder as we walk through he trees.

" Klaus said to wait." Sophie says, monotone...Oh so now she does what Klaus says.

" Yes. He also said to stay out of the bayou and yet here we are, amongst the crawly, buzzy creatures." Rebekah snaps, causing me to laugh.

"We're here." Hayley says, shutting both of them up.

"Is that a wolf track?" I ask, staring down at a huge paw print in the mud.

"Who's there?" Rebekah calls out, hearing the crunching of leaves under feet.

"What the hell? An Original?" A man asks, shocked and freaked out before he vamp speeds away.

After some time in silent confusion, Rebekah breaks the silence.

"You know." She starts, looking between Hayley and Sophie, her face lacking expressions. "When Klaus finds out you disobeyed him,"She pauses for dramatic effect,"He's going to kill you." she finishes with a sigh.

They both stand quietly for a moment before the witch asks a question that appears to be bugging her. "What about Evie?" She asks, to which, Rebekah merely shrugs.

"She has a get out of jail free card-Klaus loves her too much to hurt her. __________________________________________________________________________

" Those people, all this, because of a vision about Evie's baby you don't think is true?"Hayley asks, staring up at the now dark sky deep in thought.

"Look," Sophie begins, pausing," I love Sabine, but she's the witch equivalent of a drama queen. I've learned to take little stock in whatever she says or sees. Just kinda wish she'd kept her mouth shut" I chuckle quietly, being reminded of a certain blonde vampire.

"The Harvest ritual-- you said you didn't believe in it. Were you right?" Hayley continues with her questioning.

"No. I saw it with my own eyes. It was working. It was real. "The witch responds, adding a sigh on the end.

" So, how can you be so sure Sabine's vision isn't?" Hayley asks, receiving no response.

"Oh, right. Well, if you ask me, family is a pain in the behind." Rebekah tells Hayley as I enter the room, lolloping onto the couch and crossing my fingers that Klaus does not catch wind of today's... adventure

" And as for being in it alone, how dare you? I don't ruin a perfectly fabulous pair of boots traipsing through the Bayou for just anyone."Rebekah continues. I sigh.

"Becks, they were my boots." She shrugs,

Hayley smiles, and Rebekah downs her second drink. Their conversation is interrupted by Klaus walking through the front door .

"Nik, finally! What–-" Rebekah starts.

Elijah walks through the door after Klaus with a huge smile. Rebekah runs to Elijah and hugs him tight. Elijah sees Hayley over Rebekah's shoulder, and they smile at each other, though Hayley leaves the room right afterwards. Elijah then grins at me.

" Elijah! You're safe! Now that you're home, is your first plan to kill Niklaus?" Rebekah asks excitedly as Klaus scoffs.

"Excuse me just a moment." Elijah says, smiling as he heads towards the backyard.

"Where's he going?" She asks as Klaus encases me in his arms.

"I missed you,"He says, sweetly kissing my lips as I giggle.

"I saw you this morning." I smile, to which he just shrugs, pulling me into his chest.

"That was too long ago."

I sit, leaning against Klaus across from Elijah as they both read,I set up my first new phone since the gumbo disaster, Klaus turns the page in a book called a poison tree. Elijah reads one of his Mother's grimoires.

" So, this is what you do the first time we're back together as a family? Vampire book club? Evie, there's no point in setting that up, we both know you'll have cracked it by tonight." All three of us shrug.

" Reading edifies the mind, sister. Isn't that right, Elijah?" Klaus asks as he continues to read.

"Yes, that's quite right, Niklaus." Elijah replies.

"However."Klaus begins, smirking down at me,"I must agree with you sister about Evie." I scoff, leaning further into his chest.

"And what's this business?"She asks, gesturing towards the dead girl on the table.

"This is a... "Elijah moves his hand around, searching for a word "...peace offering"

"I presumed, after so much time desiccating in a coffin, that my big brother might be a bit peckish." Klaus says, with a sigh, flipping his page over again.

Annoyed, Elijah retorts back,"And I explained to my little brother that forgiveness cannot be bought. I'd simply prefer to see a change in behaviour that indicates contrition and personal growth." He then gestures to the girl on the table,"Not this nonsense."

"Well, I couldn't very well let her go to waste, could I?"Klaus shrugs, grinning as he removes one hand from his book to place on my stomach, a gesture that he has been doing a lot recently.

" Well, I suppose I'll go fetch the rubbish bin, because she's staining a two hundred-year-old carpet." Rebekah trudges out of the room, annoyed.

Elijah looks up from his book to see the girl bleeding out onto the table, where the blood drips onto the floor , he sighs.

"Ah, yes." With a final sigh, Elijah closes his book and leaves the room.

"There really is no point to you starting that phone," He says, forcing an innocent smile.

"Shut up." I scoff, elbowing him in the stomach.

"Poetry about poisoned apples from dead trees. Looks like someone's worried about impending daddy-hood." Rebekah says as she continues to scrub at the blood stained carpet.

"Maybe he's a Regina Mills fan." I shrug, knowing that they won't get my reference... But that doesn't stop me from making it. Klaus sighs.

"Nonsense. Elijah's back. In his presence, all problems turn to pixie-dust and float away!" Klaus says, faking optimism.

I sigh as he gives me a quizzical look, "You are such an idiot." I mutter to him.

"Strange, I don't recall any pixie-dust from the darkness of the coffin I was recently forced to endure." Elijah says, re-joining us. I smirk as Klaus rolls his eyes.

"What are you doing with Mother's spellbook?" Rebekah asks, swiftly changing the subject.

" Well, in exchange for my freedom, I promised the witch Davina that I would share a few pages from Mother's grimoire to help her learn to control her magic. I thought we'd begin with a little un-linking spell." Elijah says, not looking up from the grimoire.

"Wait, you want to use her to un-link Evie from Sophie Deveraux?" Rebekah asks, stunned.

"Sophie brought us here under false pretenses! She doesn't just want us to take down Marcel and his minions, she wants to take Davina back. So, she yolked her own cause to ours with magic threats and half-truths! Well, no more. As of now, our deal with Sophie Deveraux is null and void."Elijah rants as Klaus raps his arms around me, himself and Rebekah smiling at each other.

"Niklaus, I need you to come with me. I need five minutes alone with Davina. You need to make certain that I am not interrupted."He points to Rebekah," You stay here and watch Hayley and sweet Evie"he turns to leave, pulling Klaus back for a moment and looking between the two of us,"Later we will converse why none of us were invited to your wedding." We both gulp.

" How did I get elected super-nanny?" Rebekah asks, annoyed as Elijah leaves.

"More importantly, who put him in charge?" Klaus asks, pecking my lips before following Elijah out of the room.

I sit on the couch, flipping through a book before I feel a burning pain appear in my neck. Reflexively, my hand flies to my neck as I scream in pain, my fingers dripping with blood as the wound quickly heals.

" What the hell was that?" Rebekah asks, hurrying into the room.

"It felt like I was being stabbed." I sigh."insects these days are dangerous..."I shudder.

My eyes widen, so does Rebekah's as we realise that something is wrong.

_________________________________________________________________________

"You know, when I first met you, I thought you were a real bitch." Hayley says, turning to Rebekah as I snack on my apple, Regina Mills still lingering in my mind from this morning.

"What changed your mind?" Rebekah asks, smiling.

"Oh, I still think you're a bitch! I've just grown to like that about you" They both chuckle.

"Aw, well, that's sweet of you to say. "Her face becomes more serious"Remember it when I'm gone."

"Gone? Where are you going?"Hayley asks, confused.

"I only came to town to make sure everything was okay with Elijah. He's fine, and he hasn't punished Klaus for daggering him, so... as usual, they'll be thick as thieves, and I'll be left to clean up the mess. It's time for me to fly the coop." She sighs as I throw my apple to the side, rapping my arms around her.

"No, Becks, you can't leave me with tweedle dum and tweedle D." I moan.

She laughs lightly into my shoulder,"I'll miss you to Eve."

Pulling away, I bring my hand to my forehead, feeling lightheaded and woozy, the feeling you get as your body prepares you to faint.

"What's wrong?"Rebekah asks with a frown.

" I dunno, probably morning sickness..." I try to shrug it off as she brings her hand up to my forehead.

"Oh, you're burning up, actually." Rebekah corrects me, concerned.

___________________________________________________________________

"I feel like I've been microwaved" I groan as sweat continues to build up, "I would make a horrible microwaved lasagna"

"Hey! Just because you're carrying a baby doesn't mean you get to act like one! I'm sure my little niece is healing you up as we speak." Rebekah says, down-grading my pessimism.

Elijah returns with Sophie, hurrying as Rebekah glares at the witch.

" What the hell is she doing here?" Rebekah snaps, losing her temper.

"I'm trying to help." Sophie replies wthh a sigh.

"Bitch, I'm turning into process ravioli over here so, if you could, help a little faster." I snap, my temper appearing worse than Rebekahs'.

" Help? You're the reason we're in this bloody mess! Why aren't we unlinked with this witch already, Elijah?" Rebekah asks, madly and incredulously.

"Rebekah, let her do what she can." Elijah says, desperately.

"I may know a way to slow the fever down. But, I'm gonna need some special herbs. "She turns and looks at Rebekah" I'll text you a list."

__________________________________________________________________________

"She's burning up! We need to do this now."Elijah says, his tone panicked as Hayley tries to calm me down, sitting beside me next to the pool.

" Get her in the water!"Sophie yells, frantically as Elijah carries me in.

" I don't see how a midnight swim is supposed to help." Rebekah says, frustrated as Sophie follows us in, holding some weird herbs.

"Her temperature is sky-high. The water, with the help of the herbs, should cool us down."She hands me the herbal concoction" Drink this! "She turns to Elijah "You're going to have to get her heart rate down."

____________________________________________________________________________

"I can't breathe,"I struggle out as Elijah holds me close to him.

"Okay, long deep breaths,Evie! Look at me. Long deep breaths, just focus on the sound of my voice."He hushes me soothingly.

I continue to scream in pain, until, suddenly I stop, feeling the feeling melt away as quickly as it came, unhappy, I mutter a short series of colourful language under my breath.

"Elijah... as soon as your brother finds out that the link is broken, he'll kill Agnes. I know you don't owe me anything, but please, don't let him kill her." Sophie says as Elijah carries me out of the pool.

" Elijah! She's our only access to the power we need to survive. Promise me that you'll stop him!" She continues as I glare at her in distaste.

_______________________________________________________________________________

" Don't. Touch. My. Family." Klaus growls, holding Agnes by the throat as Elijah holds me by the waist, vamp speeding me with him.

"Leave her." Elijah commands, his tone calm.

Klaus pulls Agnes into a headlock and stands back as he watches Elijah and I walk down the aisle toward them, he sighs in relief as his eyes zone in on me.

" I gave my word." Elijah continues.
