《Stardust // Poe Dameron [ON HOLD]》3 | Millennium Falcon

A dark figure slowly tip toed their way across the house and towards the front door, trying nothing more than to be quiet enough so that no one else in the house would wake up. It had almost been a successful mission too, but the moment the doorknob began to twist open was the moment a soft voice was whispering out, "What are you doing?"
Castor Shae let out a soft sigh as his hand fell back down to his side. He stood facing the door for a moment longer before finally building up the courage to turn and look at his older sister.
Cassie was standing there with a blanket hugged close to her body as she sleepily rubbed at her eyes. Castor knew the girl had to have just woke up, but how she knew he was leaving was beyond him. Then again, Cassie always had been able to know what his next move was going to be before he did.
"You're leaving," Cassie said, her voice coming out in more of a statement than a question. There was nothing to question him about and she could see that. He was leaving and that was final.
Castor was silent, not knowing what to say. The reason he was leaving in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep was because he knew he wasn't going to be able to handle having to say goodbye to them, but having Cassie be the only one was even worse.
Castor and Cassie had always had a special connection. It wasn't quite like the connection the triplets had, but it was probably just as serious. The two understood each other. In fact, they could practically be considered the same person most of the time. It was the reason why Cassie was called Cass and Castor was called Mini Cass.
And having to say goodbye to the person Castor was closest to in his family was hard.
"Yeah," Castor finally admitted, his head hanging low as his grip on his backpack strap tightened a bit. Now it was Cassie's turn to watch him in silence, her eyes flickering over his face as if she were both trying to read him and memorize what he looked like.
"You have all your things?" Cassie questioned, earning a nod in response from the boy. "How long are you going to be gone?"
"I don't know," Castor admitted with a shrug. "Everything around here reminds me of her and I just. . .I need a break from it all. I just don't know how long that will be."
"I get it. Believe me, I do," Cassie whispered, already knowing how much it hurt to think of Nova and be reminded of her every day. Unlike Castor, Cassie didn't have the guts to leave or she would've left long ago.
The older girl sighed and held her arms out towards the fifteen year old who instantly rushed forward and wrapped his sister in a hug. Castor squeezed his sister tight and shut his eyes as he dug his face into her shoulder. Cassie leaned her head against his and rubbed a hand up and down his back, the two both enjoying this last moment with each other.
The hug didn't last much longer and Cassie pulled away to brush her brother's hair back into place before whispering, "You be careful out there, Mini Cass. And please, just come home, okay? I don't care if it takes you five days or five years. Just come home."
Castor nodded and kissed his sister's temple before whispering, "I love you, Cassie."

"I love you too, Castor," Cassie muttered, her eyes glossing over as tears began to fill her eyes. She tried to put on her best smile, but Castor could still see the small quivering of her lips and was quick to hug her one last time.
Then, before Cassie could think much more about what was happening, Castor pulled away and walked out the door leaving Cassie standing there with a heavy heart.
She had just lost another sibling and the realization of that fact had her slowly falling down to her knees as a quiet sob escaped her lips.
If only she knew that she wouldn't see Castor for another six years, then maybe she wouldn't have let him walk out of that door. Maybe she would've pulled him right back inside and hugged him close to her until he knew that he wasn't alone. Maybe then she would still have him.
But she didn't know that, so there was nothing she could do when the flashing of a light outside and the sound of a ship taking off filled her senses.
Castor was already gone.

"Cassie," a voice whispered as someone lightly began to shake the girl's arm. A small groan escaped from her lips, but the girl didn't move to open her eyes. A huff of annoyance could be heard before the girl was shaken a bit violently as the person said, "Cassie, wake up."
Cassie seemed to finally realize what was going on at that moment and let out a small groan before letting her eyes flicker open. She was instantly met with the concerned looks coming from Rey and the man from Jakku and she gave them a confused look as she slowly sat up and put a hand to her head.
"What happened?" she whispered, confused.
"You passed out while we were trying to escape," Rey sighed. "How are you feeling?"
"Honestly," Cassie muttered as she unbuckled herself from her seat and sat up straighter, "a lot better."
"Really?" Rey questioned, her stare calculating as she watched the girl.
Cassie stretched and let out a loud yawn before looking up at the girl with a bored expression. "Yes, I wouldn't lie about my health," Cassie said.
Rey gave the girl a look while BB-8 let out a series of whirls and beeps that had Cassie glaring at the droid. "Okay, fine. But I'm not lying right now," Cassie insisted.
Rey stared at the girl for a moment longer before finally deciding that she was telling the truth. She then held something up in the girl's face and Cassie scrunched up her nose before taking the bottle that she realized was full of water.
"Drink," Rey said before turning to look at the man. Cassie rolled her eyes, but did as the girl told her and took a swig of the water while she also turned her attention to the man.
Now that she wasn't as delirious as earlier, her senses were all coming back to her and with that, her judgements. She couldn't exactly tell what was throwing her off so much with him, whether that be that he was still wearing Poe's jacket or something else. But something was definitely up.
BB-8 let out a soft couple of beeps and Cassie nodded her head in agreement, the two not trusting the newcomer. Rey heard the droid and turned to see Cassie frowning as she stared at the man.
The newcomer glanced over and jumped slightly at the sight of Cassie staring at him before frowning and looking away, not liking the feeling of her judging him even though he knew she was doing exactly that.

Rey knelt down in front of Cassie and BB-8 who slowly tore their gaze away from the man to look at the girl. "You're ok. He's with the Resistance," Rey said while Cassie raised an eyebrow and looked to the man who quickly looked away. Out of the corner of her eye, Cassie could see BB-8 swivel his head to look at the man and the droid and girl shared a look.
"He's going to get you two home. We both will," Rey assured them, a small smile on her face as she stared at Cassie expectantly. Cassie locked eyes with the newcomer once more before looking away. Rey took that as a good sign and patted the brunette's leg before standing up and turning to the man.
"I don't know your name," Rey said as she looked at the man curiously.
"Finn. What's yours?" he asked.
"I'm Rey."
"You already know me," Cassie said as she sent Finn a small smile. Finn glanced over to find that both BB-8 and Cassie were staring at him, the girl narrowing her eyes slightly from behind Rey's back as a small reminder that she knew he was lying.
Rey just continued to look at Finn with that sweet smile of hers and Finn glanced between the two girls before sighing and saying, "Rey. . ."
However, before Finn could say anything, a loud bang from behind them had the three turning to see that across the lounge, something had broken and steam was now bursting out from under the grating.
"Help me with this! Quick!" Rey exclaimed as Cassie pulled herself up from her seat as fast as she can, her Finn, and BB-8 hurrying after Rey and over to the grating.
The three grabbed ahold of the grating and began to pull it up together while Finn exclaimed, "Whoa! What's going on?"
"It's probably the motivator," Cassie muttered softly to herself, having been on this ship so many times that she could distantly remember some of the problems that had arised during her time she would spend flying the ship with Han Solo.
The two ignored her and Rey hopped down inside the ship before beginning to look around. BB-8 beeped a few times in concern before Rey's head popped up from under the heating surrounded by steam.
An emergency alarm was now blaring from who knows where and Rey gave them a look of alarm before exclaiming, "It's the motivator!"
"Knew it," Cassie muttered under her breath.
"Grab me a Harris wrench. Check in there!" Rey said as she pointed towards a storage box off to the side. Cassie went to move over there, but Finn beat her to it. Feeling useless, Cassie let out a huff before plopping onto the ground beside BB-8, the two glancing at each other before the droid leaned against the girl.
Cassie smiled softly and pat the droid's head before taking another drink of the water while Rey disappeared down below and Finn rummaged through the storage box.
"How bad is it?" Finn asked, pretending to ignore Cassie who was still staring at him as if she were trying to uncover his big secret just by looking at him.
"If we wanna live, not good!" Rey exclaimed from down below.
Finn frowned as he looked through the tools, not quite sure what Rey had wanted. "They're hunting for us now, we gotta get outta this system!" Finn exclaimed.
Rey popped her head back out at that and looked to Finn who was holding a wrench in his hand. "Cassie and BB-8 said the location of the Resistance Base is 'need to know' — if I'm taking you there, I need to know!" Rey insisted.
Finn hesitated for a second before tossing the tool in his hands at Rey. "This?" he asked. Rey didn't respond, but by the way she disappeared under the heating again he knew he had been correct.
With Rey out of sight, that left Finn, Cassie, and BB-8 alone. Finn was quiet for a moment, nervously biting his lip as he contemplated just telling Rey the truth. If he was going to, this would be his moment.
However, something had him stopping himself from doing that. So with a sigh, Finn glanced over at Cassie who had a small smirk on her face as she looked back at him. He took a step closer and looked down before whispering urgently, "You gotta tell us where the base is."
BB-8 let out a series of beeps that had Finn staring at him blankly. "I don't speak that," Finn said as he shook his head.
Cassie sighed and stared down at the bottle of water in her hands. "He asked why we should tell you. Since you're a Resistance fighter and all, shouldn't you know yourself?" Cassie questioned, her eyes flickering back up to Finn as if to challenge him.
"Alright, between us, I'm not with the Resistance, okay?" Finn admitted with a sigh.
BB-8 backed up as dramatically as a droid could while Cassie let out a gasp of fake shock. "What? Really? I had no idea," she muttered sarcastically earning a frown from Finn.
"I'm just trying to get away from the First Order, but you tell us where your base is, I'll get there first—deal?" Finn asked, his gaze nothing but hopeful as he looked between BB-8 and Cassie. He watched silently as the two glanced at each other before BB-8 tilted his head and let out a soft beep.
"Cassie, please," Finn said.
At that moment, Rey popped up again and exclaimed, "Pilex driver, hurry!"
Finn moved to get the tool while Rey looked between the three. "So where's your base?" she asked.
"Go on, Cassie, tell her," Finn said making the girl look to him with raised eyebrows. Finn just gave her a pleading look before mouthing so that Rey couldn't see, "Please!"
Both Rey and Finn were looking at the girl now and Cassie was silent as she looked at Finn, her eyes flickering over his face as she considered what she was about to do. But then her eyes landed on Poe's jacket and she knew what she had to do. Cause if Poe had trusted Finn enough to help him escape the First Order, then Cassie could trust Finn to help her take them down.
"The Ileenium system," Cassie finally said as she looked at her bottle of water in disinterest.
"The Ileenium system?" Rey asked in disbelief. Her eyes wide.
Finn was quick to toss the girl the tool she needed, his face a look of both surprise and thrill. Rey disappeared once again and Finn nodded as he said, "Yeah, the Ileenium system, that's the one — get us there as fast as you can."
Finn then sent Cassie one of the biggest and brightest smiles she had ever seen as he gave her a thumbs-up. BB-8 was quick to extend his welding torch and turn it upwards in a way of giving his own thumbs-up. He then retracted it and Cassie just looked away, the corners of her mouth twitching up slightly as she tried to suppress her smile.
"I'll drop you three at Ponemah Terminal. I need the bonding tape, hurry!" Rey exclaimed as she appeared once again.
Finn began to search for the tape while Cassie looked to Rey confused. "What about you?" Cassie asked, a small wave of worry washing over her for the tiniest of seconds before disappearing just as quickly. She couldn't get attached to anyone. They were fighting a war and it would only make things worse if Poe hadn't been an obvious example.
"I gotta get back to Jakku!" Rey replied as if it were obvious.
Finn looked back to Rey with wide eyes filled with disbelief. "Back to Jak—? Why does everyone always wanna go back to Jakku?" he huffed in frustration.
"I don't want to go back to Jakku," Cassie muttered. She never wanted to step foot on that planet again. Not after everything that had happened and from the looks Rey and Finn gave her, it was obvious they understood why too.
Cassie felt tears began to prick her eyes, but was quick to blink them away as her finger nails dug their way into her palm. She couldn't break down right now. She was on a mission that her and Poe had started, but that she needed to finish. There would be time to cry and curse the world for what had happened to her husband later. Right now, she needed to be strong.
A small silence fell among them once again as Finn began to rummage through the storage box looking for bonding tape. He went to grab something, but Rey shook her head.
"No, that one! No. No. The one I'm pointing to!" Rey exclaimed while Finn began to pick up random objects. "No. No. No. If we don't patch it up, the propulsion tank will overflow and flood the ship with poisonous gas!"
Cassie could tell that wasn't helping and sighed before nudging BB-8. The droid took the hint and rolled over to Finn before tipping his head to show the boy the tool. Finn gave him a grateful look and grabbed the tape, "This?"
"Yes!" Rey exclaimed before Finn threw it to her, Rey disappearing down below once again.
"Hey. Rey," Finn said as the alarm stopped and the smoke cleared, signaling that Rey had fixed the problem. "You're a pilot — you can fly anywhere! Why go back?! You got a family? You got a boyfriend? Cute boyfriend?"
Cassie raised an eyebrow at the boy who avoided her gaze as Rey popped up once again with an annoyed look on her face. "None of your business, that's why!" the scavenger spat.
Before anyone could say anything else, the lights on the ship turned off, the whole ship powering down within a split second. BB-8 let out a nervous whirl and rolled over to Cassie's side. The brunette gulped and looked around before whispering, "I've got a bad feeling about this."
"That can't be good," Finn muttered.
"No, it can't be," Rey agreed as she pulled herself out from the grating. She began to make her way out of the room and Finn, Cassie, and BB-8 were quick to follow. They had made it to the cockpit within seconds and Cassie quickly plopped down into a seat while Rey did the same.
The two girls checked the controls and Cassie glanced at the dead instrumentation panel before frowning, "Someone's locked onto us, so all controls are overridden."
Quickly and awkwardly, Finn shoved past the two girls and began to climb so that he could look out. He stuck his hands against their heads to help push himself up and Cassie sent the boy a scowl while Rey muttered, "Get off. Get off!"
Finn finally stopped and Rey looked to the boy who was staring out the windows confused before asking, "See anything?"
Before Finn could respond, a red light lit up the room and Cassie slowly looked above her, her eyes widening at the sight of a huge ship right above them, its red lights flashing down on them as they were slowly pulled in.
"Oh no," Finn muttered as the Millennium Falcon, powerless, was pulled through into a giant hanger. Finn plopped back down onto his feet before going and sitting down in the seat behind Cassie, a look of pure horror on his face as he whispered, "It's the First Order."
Cassie's eyes widened. "The First Order?" she asked, her voice a little higher than usual as her eyes flickered over to BB-8. It was her job to keep that droid safe at all costs, so what the hell was she going to do now?
"What do we do? There must be something," Rey insisted as she looked around at the controls worriedly.
Cassie bit her lip in concentration as she ran through a million different scenarios in her head. Thanks to her training, she was prepared for almost any situation, so an idea had sparked in her head almost instantly.
The brunette was quick to look to Rey, her eyes shining with a bit of mischief as she asked, "Did I hear you say something about poisonous gas earlier?"
"Yeah, but I fixed that," Rey said, her eyebrows furrowing together in confusion.
However, Finn seemed to realize where Cassie was going with this and smiled before looking to Rey and asking, "Can you unfix it?"
Rey looked between the two confused for a second before the plan seemed to click for her, the scavenger's eyes widening as she got up from her seat and hurried out fo the cockpit. The others were quick to follow while BB-8 followed behind them.
They made their way back to the lounge and Cassie noticed Rey grabbing a gas mask, so quickly grabbed herself one before tossing one to Finn. The three then made their way over to the grating that was still open and Cassie glanced back at BB-8 before saying, "The droid goes first. Come on, BB-8."
The others didn't object and Finn hopped down inside to help get BB-8 down safely. "I got it," Finn said, but BB-8 only managed to knock him down due to how heavy the droid was. "I'm okay. BB-8, get off me!"
