《Escape The Night - Season 3》Episode 17, Part 3 - Betrayal Of The Castle

Lizzie was in the eastern tower, in the same room Dan was thrown from.
There are a ton of books here, so I think someone might hide a journal here.
She scoured the shelves looked everywhere she could think of. She opened cabinets and drawers, hoping to find something, but nothing was there. She looked around the room again, and saw the cells, with the doors wide open. Cautiously, she walked into the cell Thomas was kept in. The door stayed open behind her. She looked around in there and found the journal with an ink pot and quill pen sitting next to it. Lizzie signed the journal on the front page and, before she could pick it up, she watched her initials being carved into the front cover.
"That's weird," she said. She carefully picked the notebook up and left the room.

Zoe went to the training grounds. They hadn't been there in a long time, and she suspected the spirit may have hidden something here. She looked around, not knowing exactly where to look. Joey's blood still stained the sand on the ground, but she ignored it as best she could.
I have a feeling something might be here, but I don't remember this place very well, so it might be completely wrong.
She looked around the spectator area they had watched Joey's death from, and soon came across the journal, along with a pot of ink and a feather quill. She quickly signed her name in the book, eager to leave the training grounds. Joey's death was too gruesome for her to think about right now. She picked up the journal, and it began to heat up. She looked at it as her initials were carved into the front of it. She looked at the book, confused, then set off for the garden.

The group all met up at the doors to the garden, and they went back to the purple circle. Joel collected everyone's books and placed them in the circle. The group watched as they vanished.
"What just happened?" Lizzie asked.
"I don't know," Thomas replied.
"I think I should talk to this gargoyle again," Joel said. He stepped back into the circle.
"You've done well, mortal," the gargoyle said.
"What do we do now?"
"You will vote on two who will be sent to the bell tower. The challenge will await you there."
Joel stepped out of the circle.
"We need to vote again," Joel said, "oh, and if the break room looks like someone broke in, I was looking for the journal there. Found it in the first room I looked in. I was happy."
"That's weird, I found my journal in the first room I searched as well," Lizzie said.
"Me too. And has anyone else noticed, we quite often meet up right outside wherever we need to go after finding something. No matter where we were or how long it takes to find what we're looking for or how far we are away, we always end up together," Thomas said.
"This whole castle is weird. Things that make no sense are right at home here," Zoe said. The group walked back to the break room, Phil trudging along behind them.

The Adventures of Alan
What happens when a university professor somehow ends up in another world, where magic bends the laws of nature? Alan is, albeit unwillingly, about to find out. As a professor of physics, he has a decent understanding of how the world works, or so he likes to think. Armed only with his knowledge, Alan is thrown into a world very different from his own. In his new reality, he will meet both friends and foe, he will seek knowledge, he will build power, and perhaps he will even find love again? Follow Alan through his adventures, and find out for yourselves how he deals with the challenges thrown at him by a new world, while struggling with the issues brought with him from his old one. * Author’s note: A fair warning. This is the first time I’ve published anything, and basically the first time I’ve written anything more than mandatory school-stuff. The story will probably have inconsistencies, grammatical errors (not my native tongue, though that excuse is getting old), and potentially confusing (missing?) plot. I will naturally do my best to write something worth reading, but my main goal in writing this story is to have fun and explore the limits of my own creativity. My hope in publishing it here, is that I’ll reach someone who enjoy the story, and can push me forward towards writing more, as it is difficult at times to find the motivation to write just for myself. Additionally, I can’t really promise to have regular updates, as I have a full-time job that often likes to take the ‘full-time’ part literally, and a sporadic social life that occasionally surprises me (happy surprises mostly, so I shouldn’t complain). I’ll aim for once a week to start with, and take it from there. Happy reading! Cover photo by Jeff Hire (/photographer/gun4hire-58415), from https://freeimages.com/.

Contact First
2039 - Earth A narrow beam energy signal appeared aimed squarely at earth from the TRAPPIST system. The communication consisted of a layered set of repeating data over several thousand wavelengths. Over the next few months scientists discovered that the lower wavelengths carried an encoded numerical language which could then be used to interpret the more complicated messages carried on the higher wavelengths. After half a year of painstaking work the signal was fully decoded. It described a small satellite launched along a precise trajectory towards the fourth planet of our solar system. Included was a package of advanced research that humanity would need to have ready in order to receive the satellite and decelerate it safely. The alien data provided the kick that humanity needed to turn from petty squabbling and unite to explore the final frontier. Major government and corporate leaders worked together to create the framework for the United Federation of Sol. UFS spaceports went from scaffolding to daily launches in every major city around the globe. Ships floated like dandelion seeds, spreading on solar wind to grow into colonies. 2397 - Mars orbit, Egeria Station The command center was a hive of activity as checks were conducted and systems initialized. Scientists flitted by like mayflies as communicators beeped and holoscreens spat out green tinted readouts. Nervous energy was thick in the air as everyone anticipated the culmination of over three hundred years of work. Massive fusion reactors under the planet's surface thrummed with barely restrained power as energy fed into a gleaming metallic maze criss crossing the planet. Metal fingers reached up, overshadowing the mighty olympus mons and trying to grab the stars. All over the solar system, people quickly turned to look as gigantic energy lances shot from the dusty fourth planet. Two years later. The same people that clapped loudly at the successful activation of project Hermes now wait with baited breath. A silver capsule trailing bright photonic sails is captured by a net of grav beams and guided with care bordering on reverence into the station. Holoscreens across the headquarters project an image of the sleek craft settling in the bay. Data connections are established and the holoscreens blink to white. Slowly an image forms on the screen. Across the headquarters people stare in wonder as a wholly alien face stares back. "Contact established. Welcome to the universe."

Murderously Disturbed
This collection chronicles the horrific contents of my brain in poetic form. This is not for the faint of heart. It contains terrifying moments of murder, suicide, mayhem, rituals, hauntings, and nightmares in various poetic forms from ballads to sonnets and many more. Most of these pieces are oneshot tales, but the "Haunted Blades" ballad sequence is marked with an asterisk (*) throughout the collection to denote an interconnected series of poems.
