Previously on Escape The Night, the guests encountered a mad scientist with technology far beyond the medieval era. They thought they could outsmart him and save a life, but they soon learned that they could not trick the spirit, and Oli paid the price for their idiocy.

"It says the next lieutenant is the castle executioner. He hold both the totem piece and the spirit of the next guest. He is cold and unfeeling, but not intimidating unless he has his weapons. Do not approach him if he is armed or is near the gallows," Lizzie read, "if he is armed at the gallows, stay far away."

"Okay, so if we find him unarmed and anywhere but the gallows, we're safe?" Willow asked.

"Sounds like it," Phil said.

"You are lucky that I am neither armed, nor at the gallows," a deep, booming voice appeared from the doorway, and a man wearing all black clothes and a black hood appeared before them as the guests moved closer together.

"The executioner, I presume," Dan asked, fear present in his voice.

"Indeed, my boy, I am. I have two quests for you. One group must find my axe for me, the other group must cut down the dead bodies from the gallows, I will await you here. Return after the bodies have been cut down, or with the axe," the executioner said. The guests left the room quickly and split into two groups.

My group draws the short straw, we go to cut down the bodies, and I just really hope it's not people we know.

As Rosanna, Joel, Dan, Mark and Lizzie approached the gallows, they saw knives waiting for them along with a note. They each took a knife and Joel picked up the note.

There are 10 bodies here, you are required to cut down two each. No more, no less.

"So, I guess we get to work," Dan said, "the sooner it begins, the sooner its over with."

The rest of the group had to agree, and they began cutting down their first body.

Phil, Willow, Thomas and Zoe headed for the basement. As they walked in, they saw an array of axes on the walls.

"One of these must be the executioner's axe," Thomas said.

"There's a note," Willow pulled out a note from behind an axe, being careful not to cut herself on the shape edge.

The axe you seek is first and second. The clue is behind the two faced axe.

"That makes a tiny bit of sense," Zoe said, "I think first and second means silver and gold."

"Which narrows down our options to these four," Phil gestured to four axes made of both silver and gold.

"And the two faced axe might be this one," Thomas pulled an axe with two blades off the wall, and saw a note attached to the wall behind it.
