The scientist began constructing his machine, his masterpiece, on the spirit's request. As lightning began to strike, the scientist laughed maniacally. His assistant was tied to the machine. It looked like it should bring something to life, but as lighting struck the tower, the young man shrieked in pain as electricity shot through his body. Tears rolled down his face as the pain continued to course through him. After what felt like an eternity, he finally died.
"Are you satisfied?" the spirit asked.
"I am," the scientist said, "oh, I am satisfied."
He laughed to himself as he released his old assistant from his restraints.

Now, he must conquer Ephemera and defeat the Hero...or Virya promises to make him beg for the release of death before granting it. Playing along for his own survival, Seiji nonetheless is under no illusions who his true enemy is, and it's not the naive young would-be Hero from his own world. Placed in an impossible position, Seiji must make enough progress toward world domination to keep his sadistic patron goddess off his back, but not so much that he can't strike an accord with the forces of Good and convince the Hero Yoshi that it's the goddesses who are their mutual enemy. Forced to embrace Evil without being too evil, Seiji walks the razor's edge, building his forces and biding his time till he can get revenge on the goddesses and be free of them, his only certainty that he will not be getting out of this with his hands clean. But what catches his attention isn’t the wild monsters, the in-depth quest lines, or the ability to perform superhuman feats — what draws D0n at first is a bit more… mundane. Sure he’ll put in the time to level up his character… just as soon as he can finish applying the last layer of paint on his new coffee table… and after he lands that triple backflip he’s been trying to do all day… not to mention the lady next door was talking about a new horned rabbit stew recipe she was working on… Sure a world of swords and magic in virtual reality means a whole slew of fantastical experiences you can’t get anywhere else, but it’s not like those are going anywhere. And virtual or not, D0n is determined to live out his reality with a pace and vision that suits him best.
