The group were crowded around the bird bath, the necklace clearly visible at the bottom, with a locked box next to it.
"Ok, who's going for the necklace? And that box," Zoe asked.
"How cold it it?" Willow asked.
"Very," Thomas replied.
"I'll still do it, but someone else will need to get the box," Willow said.
"I'll do it," Sean said.
"Let's do this," Willow said. Willow and Sean rolled up their sleeves and the group stepped back, then plunged their hands into the ice cold bird bath.
So, I go for the necklace, and immediately regret my life decisions.
It was so cold. My arm was numb in a few seconds.
"Its so cold," Willow said.
"I got the box!" Sean said.
"Have you got feeling in your arm?" Willow asked.
"No."
"Me neither," Willow grabbed the necklace, "I have it!"
The group rejoined them and looked at the necklace and box.
"What is that box? Do we have any keys we didn't use that might fit work on it?" Lizzie asked.
"There's no keyhole," Jack said. The group stood for a moment, puzzled.
"I think we should leave it in the break room for now. It might be useful later," Willow said. The group agreed.
"We'll take it back for you," Alex said. Jack gave him the box and he and Lauren left. The guests headed back to the witch.

When the guests made it to the moat, Mark was still standing in the exact same place, still in a trance.
"We have your necklace! Now let Mark go!" Sean shouted.
"Throw the necklace into the moat," the witch said in a sing-song voice. Willow threw the necklace into the moat and Mark was released from the spell. He stumbled back, clearly disoriented.

"What happened?" he asked, dazed and confused.
"She had you in a trance," Sean explained.
"Oh. For how long?" Mark asked.
"About 20 minutes," Sean replied.
"Send your chosen two to me and I will reward you greatly," the witch sang.
"I don't wanna vote again!" Sasha exclaimed.
"Looks like we have to," Phil said. The group trudged back to the break room, each one of them desperately trying to justify who they will vote for.

8 142Soul of the Warrior
In a world where Classes, Stats, and Levels are the everyday norm, Reivyn has a secret. He was unusually aware of his surroundings from an incredibly early age, and Skills and Stats were acquired easily. He was just the son of an ordinary village family, and nothing appeared out of the ordinary on the surface. But below the surface, dreams of another life help shape his mentality and growth. Why does he have some remembrance of a past life, and what is his purpose in this new one? "Soul of the Warrior" is what I call a Semi-Isekai LitRPG. I say "semi," because Reivyn's past life is remembered like a dream, and very incomplete. It is still Isekai, though, as he remembers enough that it directly shapes his personality and his sense of self. The System that governs the world of "Soul of the Warrior" is a combination of modified versions from Selkie's "Beneath the Dragoneye Moons" and Kosnik4's "Magic Smithing." I have changed enough of these Systems and combined them in a way that is unique that I'm mostly sure it's fine, but I still have requested permission to use these ideas. They have both graciously granted me permission. Winner of the April Writathon Challenge. Release Schedule is Mon, Wed, Fri on Royal Road.
