《Escape The Night - Season 3》Episode 7, Part 1 - The Murky Moat

Previously on Escape The Night, the guests were forced to free a murderer. Dan and Lauren were voted into the challenge to free Gabbie's spirit. In a shock turn of events, Dan was possessed and stabbed Lauren to death.
The group was stunned into silence by Dan's confession.
"What do you mean, you killed her?" Willow asked, a little afraid on the answer.
"I think the spirit of the murderer possessed me or something. I blacked out and when I came to, Lauren was dead and I was holding the knife," he said.
"We don't know if you're telling the truth," Lizzie said.
"But we don't know if he's lying either. Innocent until proven guilty," Willow said.
"What if the spirit is still possessing him?" Oli asked.
"That's not encouraging," Dan said.
"Make sure at least two people are with Dan at all times. That way, if he is possessed and he attacks someone, one person can restrain him and the other person can save the person he attacked," Lauren said.
"That would be great. I don't want to hurt any of you guys, especially if I won't know until you're dead," Dan said.
"So, now that we've sorted that out, who's the next lieutenant?" Joel asked. Lilly grabbed the notebook.
"There is a legend that a sea witch lives in the castle moat. When knights returned from battle, she would lure them into the moat where they would drown," she read.
This just became 'The Little Mermaid', and I for one am excited for when we get to sing 'Under The Sea' and 'Poor Unfortunate Souls'.
There was a quiet hum in the background, which slowly got louder until the guests realised that it was the sea witch singing to them.

"Should we investigate the creepy singing or stay here where it's safe?" Willow asked. The group was already getting up to investigate.
"Or you can just ignore me, that works too," Willow said. She begrudgingly followed the group outside.
They made it to the moat where they saw the sea witch. She looked like a beautiful young woman, and she sang as the group watched her. They also noticed Mark acting oddly. He stood perfectly still, hardly even breathing. His eyes were glazed over and he stared at the sea witch. Willow waved her hand in front of him and clicked her fingers in front of him.
"He's in a trance," Sean said.
"It must be the witch," Lilly said.
"So, is he gonna die?" Rosanna asked, fear in her voice.
"I will spare his life if you can save him," the witch almost sang, "find my necklace and I shall return him to you unharmed. The necklace is in a place of water."
"Can we trust her?" Dan asked.
"We have no choice. Either we do what she says or she kills Mark," Phil said. The group left to puzzle over the riddle, reluctantly leaving Mark to the mercy of the sea witch.
———
"What does that mean, a place of water? It can't be the moat, so where is it?" Willow asked.
"The bird bath!" Thomas exclaimed.
"What?" Zoe asked.
"When I was doing the challenge, one of my clues was the bird bath. The necklace might be in there," Thomas said.
"Well, if it's all we've got to go on, we may as well give it a shot," Joe said.
"Lead the way," Lilly said. The group followed Thomas to the bird bath.

But Umbra isn't the hero everyone wants her to be. Updates will at least one chapter every two days. Notable Location Poliagoras. Poliagoras is the most important world in the Fabric partly due to it being the centre of everything both literally and metaphorically. Trade, commerce, travel, and politics are all conducted primarily on Poliagoras, it has the biggest city in the fabric stretching to cover almost the entire world. It also holds all the known Great portals in the Fabric which are the only way to travel to other worlds. Even without these things, Poliagoras would still be the most important world in the Fabric as it is home to the largest population of Favoured. They were mages chosen by the Deities and given the potential to become more than mortal. I cannot overstate how appreciated constructive criticism is. This is the first story I have written of my own volition so even a small comment on how I could improve would be great. The current title is most definitely a working one. I know it isn't great.
