《Escape The Night - Season 3》Episode 1, Part 1 - Let The Festivities Begin

My friends,
I have inherited a wonderful estate, a castle in the countryside. Don't ask questions about how I obtained such a property, it is not important. I would like to invite you to a ball on its grounds. The theme is the medieval era, and I have given you each a persona and costume to match. I have arranged for a carriage to pick you up at 7pm on Sunday evening. Be ready at that exact time or the carriage will leave without you.
I hope to see you there,
Joey Graceffa
No one guest was more confused than another. They were all confused, but they decided to go. It might just be Joey being theatrical as usual.
"Not again! Stop asking me!!" Oli shouted at the invite. He looked around at his friends in the room. They decided to meet up on the week of the anniversary of the day they faced death, and it was that week.
"Why did you send me this!" Eva said loudly. Tyler ripped up the invitation and threw it in the fireplace, quickly followed by the package.
"Why! Are! You! Inviting! Me!" Andrea said through gritted teeth as she ripped the invite up.
"I'm gonna go make a bonfire," Eva said.
———
The carriage arrived at the guests doors, but 4 stayed home, editing and recording and posting videos. One by one, the guests entered the house.
"Hi, I'm Phil, and I am The Carpenter."
Phil walked into the castle with a grey shirt and overalls. The overalls were a little worse for wear, as he would be wearing them for work. His grey, formal shoes also had wood shavings on them from work.
"My name is Sasha and I'm The Tailor."
Sasha entered the room wearing a purple gown, her huge sleeves almost touching the floor. Her hair was tied back in a plait going down her back, practical and stylish, and there was a handmade looking flower in her hair.
"I am Nathan, Nate for short, and I am The Songwriter."

Nate entered the castle with a beige tunic with baggy sleeves. He had a dark brown, unbuttoned waistcoat and black trousers, as well as brown, stylish boots.
"Hi there, I'm Yammy and I will be The Medium for the night."
Yammy walked into the room with a dark green, off the shoulder dress that almost touched the floor. The sleeves were also very large, like Sasha's. Her hair was half up, half down, styled like a true medieval princesses. Her green heels were just visible under her long dress.
"Hi. My name is, Dan. I will be The Blacksmith."
Dan wore a white shirt that looked a little worn. There were some tiny black stains on certain areas. He also wore overalls, that also looked like he had crafted many swords in them. He wore black, formal shoes, and blacksmiths gloves to add to the character.
"Hey, I'm Willow and I'm The Playwright."
Willow walked into the room with a dark pink and white dress. Her pink dress was over her white dress, and there were visible ribbons to keep the pink dress on. The white dress also had large sleeves. She had her hair down with a delicate looking silver headpiece.
"Hi, I'm Sean and I am The Constable."
Sean walked in looking authoritative with a fancy looking dark blue tunic, with black trousers on as well. His black boots looked perfect for chasing criminals down unknown alleyways.
"Hi, I'm Lauren and I will be The Alchemist."
Lauren walked into the castle wearing a red dress, this one without large sleeves, as it is less practical. Her black boots were visible under her dress. She also wore a dark red cloak with the hood up, and had a belt with a few tools she might use. Her hair was tied back, out of her face.
"Hey guys, I'm Mark and I am The Clerk."
Mark wore a fancy grey tunic with a dark grey waistcoat to match. He had a leather belt on as well as black trousers and formal black shoes, as if he was walking into work.

"Hi, I'm Stacy, The Hound Master for tonight."
Stacy walked in wearing a shorter, seemingly more practical dark grey dress with a black cloak. Her black boots were fairly heavy duty, and she also wore trousers under her dress. Her hair was tied back in a stylish, medieval but still practical way.
"Hi, I'm Joel, and I'm playing The Prince."
Joel wore a very noble looking blue tunic and a long, deep blue cloak. He wore dark blue trousers and knee high brown boots. He wore a belt with a golden buckle and a small silver crown on his head.
"Hey, I am Lizzie and I am The Princess since Joel is my fiancée."
Lizzie walked in wearing a regal blue gown, with large sleeves touching the floor and a sliver ribbon tied around her waist. Her hair was done in a very stylish, noble looking way. Like Joel, she also had a small silver crown on her head, marking her nobility.
"Hi there, my name is Oli and I am The Laird or landowner."
Oli had a fancy red, short sleeved tunic with a white shirt underneath with large sleeves. He wore deep red trousers and formal black shoes, and he looked every part the rich landowner.
"Hey, I am Tiffany Garcia, and I am The Crafter."
Tiffany wore a simple, elegant, purple gown, with dark purple heels just visible under her skirt. Her sleeves were large, but not as large as the other ladies' sleeves were. Her hair was tied back in a practical fashion, and she wore a handmade golden headpiece.
"Hi there, I'm SeaPeeKay aka Callum, The Glazier."
Callum, like Dan and Phil, wore overalls that looked a little worn. His beige shirt was practical, as the sleeves weren't puffy like some of the other gentlemen's were, and he wore practical black boots that also looked a little worn. Like Dan, he also wore heavy duty gloves, like you would wear if you were working with molten glass.
"Hi, I am Rosanna, and I will, of course, be playing The Baker."
Rosanna walked in in a gorgeous white gown with a silver waistband, looking almost like a bride. Her hair was tied back in a bun to keep it out of her face, and she even had a little chef's hat on.
"Hey, I'm Thomas Sanders and I am The Jester."
Thomas walked in wearing a bright red and bright blue stereotypical jester's outfit, even wearing the hat, although without the bells on the end. His boots were also red and blue, although a much darker shade.
"Hi, I am Zoe and I will be The Artist."
Zoe wore a black, practical looking gown, with her hair tied back in a stylish, yet practical way. Her black boots were clearly visible under her shorter dress. She also wore a painter's apron, covered with every colour of the rainbow as it had clearly been used frequently.
"Hello, I'm Joe Garret, more commonly known as Stampy Cat, and I am The Warrior."
Joe walked in wearing a floor length, dark brown cloak, lined with light brown fur. He wore a deep brown tunic and black, slightly ripped trousers. His black, heavy duty boots looked worn in, like he had worn them in battle. His two leather belts also had sheaths for any swords he may be carrying.
"Hi, I'm Lilly Singh and I am The Falconer."
Lilly wore a dark brown, short dress and deep brown trousers. She wore a black cloak and heavy duty brown, knee length boots. She also had a falconer glove on, with a falcon resting on her hand as she walked in, although she had to let it go very quickly.
———
The guests began to interact with one another. They started getting to know each other, and having drinks left out for them on a few tables. They laughed and talked, and enjoyed themselves.
Let them have fun. For soon, the festivities will begin. I'll have my fun, but I must wait. The host is yet to make his entrance.

Shaman
*** Let's get this clear now: the MC is a trans woman. This is not a gender-bender. It's set in a fantasy world but the exploration of identity and gender is reality-based. Not a joke, not a kinky turn-on. If this is a problem for you, please just act like an adult and look elsewhere for something to read. *** Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 2 x 5*, 1 x 4.5*, 1 x 3*, no reasons offered. A human shaman and healer returns from several years with the mysterious shyani, accompanied by her shapeshifting puma best friend. A valued friend, from her previous identity as a male student physician, has acquired an old shyani book, and extremists will not tolerate its presence in human hands. But back in human lands, the question arises: which world does she belong in? Generations ago, human explorers found a continent inhabited by an utterly alien culture of shapeshifting weyres and the shyani, humanoids who prefer dusk and dawn. A truce of sorts was eventually reached: humans claimed the rich lowlands, and the shyani and weyres retain the highlands. Along the border, practicality often rules, but on either side, old grudges linger in some hearts. As a student physician, Corin tried to take his own life, unable to bear the countless tiny wounds inflicted over twenty-one years of lying to himself in order to be, or pretend to be, socially acceptable. At the last improbable instant, intervention came, in the form of a spirit fox, who led him away from the existence he’d known in the lowlands and into the highlands. There, a puma weyre rescued him, and a shyani shaman helped him find his true self and offered a rebirth, a life with no more lies, and an important role to fill. Now a shaman and healer in her own right, Vixen who was once Corin learns that the one human who mattered to her in her previous life, then a fellow University student, has come into possession of an old shyani book, and the more fanatical shyani and weyres will stop at nothing to reclaim it and punish Jared. Even though it means going back into the lowlands and facing Jared as a woman, she can’t bear to just look the other way. This should be a short visit, just long enough to see the book into the proper hands and make sure Jared will not be killed for having it, and then she can return to the shyani community that has accepted her as their shaman. And, of course, her feline best friend Dayr insists on coming with her. But Jared is now a Lord, with considerable wealth and power, and his response to her presence isn’t one she expected. After years living with the shyani, she sees everything around her from a new perspective, and that makes it difficult to keep to the plan of making as few waves as possible. As an honoured guest in a highborn house, with only Jared aware that she has ever been anyone else, Vixen finds herself questioning where she belongs: with Dayr and the shyani, who accept her gender without question but have to make allowances for her differences, or with humans, in the culture she grew up in even though her past would mean a major scandal? *** Trigger warning: there are scenes of Vixen's previous life, which include some difficult moments and culminate in an (obviously unsuccessful) attempt at suicide before she finds her true self and a better life. Please be careful! This is the ONLY reason for the "Traumatising Content" tag.*** Complete stand-alone novel, 96K words. Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
