After an hour of marching, the entire Scarabia residents plus the Ramshackle Duo made it the East Oasis, but unfortunately for them, the oasis itself is completely dried up. That watering hole is just a sandpit and the palm trees are all wrinkled and dried up.

"This place almost looks like something from my dreams... Just more dried up..." y/n mutters as the area reminds her of her dreams,"Hey, stop spacing out. Did the heat deep fry your brain?" Grim snaps the girl out of her dazed mind, concern written in his eyes.

"Sorry Grim." y/n pants,"All stop!" Kalim shouts as he holds a fist up,"D-did we finally made it to the oasis?" Grim asks with a relieved smile,"We'll take a fifteen minute break here then begin our march back to the dorm." Jamil announces and on cue, almost everyone drops to the ground from exhaustion, including Grim.

"Water, water..." he pants as he crawls towards the watering hole, only to find it completely dried up,"What the hell, this oasis is all dried up!?" he cries out as Kalim jumps off his elephant,"Water... Water..." he mutters as he approaches the Ramshackle Duo,"Do you want water?" he asks softly, catching y/n's attention at his sudden soft tone as she looks up at him with perplexed eyes.

"Well, duh! My throat is mummified..." Grim exaggerates and Kalim grins at them,"Then I'll get you some perfectly cool and delicious water to drink!" he declares before pulling out his magical pen.

"Relaxing on the hot sand, an endless party. Sing! Dance! Oasis Maker!" he chants and the next thing everyone knew, it was suddenly raining from the cloudless sky,"Whaaaa! Glorious rain!" Grim cheers as he feels himself being cooled down,"Amazing! It's raining when while it's still cloudless!" y/n says with amazement as she held her hands out, allowing the droplets to caress her hands.

"So good! My whole body feels refreshed...!"

"I've come back to life..."

All the other residents say something similar with relief and happy smiles as they enjoy the cool weather,"Kalim, this is incredible!" y/n praises the boy, causing him to become bashful.

"I'm glad you like it! If it's water you need, I can create enough to fill the whole oasis to the brim. My Unique Magic, Oasis Maker..." he boasts humbly,"Let's me summon a huge amount of tasty water for very little magic." he explains briefly.

"Umm... 'I can make lots of water' is pretty lame to have as your Unique Magic, y'know. There's plenty of wizards who can do the same..." Grim comments, but yelps when y/n flicks his ear,"Grim! That's rude!" she scolds him.

"Don't say that. Lots of water for little cost is what makes my Oasis Maker special. In the time before indoor plumbing this would have been a huge boon to keeping people from dying of dehydration. So I think it's pretty valuable." Kalim explains before rubbing a finger under his nose.

"But I'll admit, it not very useful since we all have indoor plumbing and stuff. Ah ha ha!" he laughs before clapping his hands together,"However! I'm positive my water is most delicious in the whole wide world." he says with confidence and y/n had to admit, the water does taste really good and cool.

"Now that you mention it..." Grim opens his mouth to catch a few droplets of water and taste tests it,"It is at the perfect temp to be refreshing, but not shocking. It's mellow like fresh spring water and it easy to guzzle down." he describes with profession,"In short, it is delicious." y/n sums up with a smile that made Kalim bashful.

"Can monsters even tell the difference between different kinds of water?" Jamil questions with crossed arms and a raised brow,"How rude! My palate is of the highest grade!" Grim says with his nose turned in the air and a paw on his chest.

"Hmmhmm! I was right about you! I knew you'd get it. As a reward, here's a cracker." Kalim takes out a small bag of crackers and Grim frowns at the sight of it,"Ugh, I may be hungry, but no way am I eating something dry like that..." he groans with disgust before y/n crouches close to his side, just when the rain had come to a stopped.

"Hey, did you notice? Kalim is totally different from when we left." she whispers,"You're right, it's like he got body snatched, y'know." Grim whispers back,"Hm? Hey, didja say somethin'?" Kalim tilts his head at them, an imaginary question mark floating above his head.

"...Kalim, our fifteen minutes is up." Jamil says after checking the position of the sun and shadows,"Get everyone together to head back." he says,"Already? We can let them rest a bit longer, can't we?" Kalim asks with a pout after putting his cracker pouch away.

"If we laze about here for too long the sun is going to get higher and the temperature right along with it." Jamil tells him,"That's a good point. Alright everyone, time to get ready to go so we can be back in time for breakfast!" Kalim calls out and everyone gathers themselves up before they all began their march back to the dorm.

By the time they made it back, everyone was hot and exhausted, especially the Ramshackle Duo since they're not used to this type of environment. Y/n wished she was back at Octavinelle. That place is at least nice and cool. Oh wait... It's winter time.

"I don't wanna be stuck in the prison life for another second!" Grim spat after swallowing a hefty amount of food,"It pains me to admit that the food here is really good!!" he grins widely,"Prison life?" Kalim furrows his brows at the little monster's wordings.

"I don't follow, but I'm happy that you enjoy the food. Have as much as you want!" he tells him as y/n drinks her third cup of water,"Phew~! I feel alive again~" she sighs with a relieved smile before grabbing herself some food.

"Today we have blue cheese made from cow's milk, make sure to get some of that on crackers." Kalim presents and y/n leans away from the cheese, even pinching her nose closed as she looks at as if it had offended her greatly.

"Eehh... I'm over crackers..." Grim tells the boy as Kalim puts some cheese on crackers,"Don't be shy. Ah ha ha!" Kalim then shoves the cracker into Grim's mouth, causing the little guy to choke in surprise as his cheeks puffs up,"Hehehe..." y/n giggles at this, still feeling sorry for her little Buddy. But it's just too funny not to laugh at.

"Kalim, don't force feed Grim too much. You're going to make him choke." Jamil scolds his friend after sitting down next to y/n,"Oops, take your time. There's plenty of food." Kalim immediately backs off with an apologetic smile as Grim chews and swallows the cracker,"That's not the problem here..." he mumbles.

"We have some ice cream left over from yesterday to have for dessert. Lining up a bunch of different flavors and getting as many as you can onto your spoon is 'Kalim-style'." Kalim grins widely,"As many as you can... on your spoon?" the Ramshackle Duo utter in unison.

"Yep, yep. You always have room for dessert right? I'll be right back with it so give me a sec." Kalim says as he gets up and Jamil jumps up right after him in alarm,"Kalim, wait. I'll go get it so you just wait here." he says,"I'm fine. All I have to do is take it out of the fridge, right?" Kalim says.

"Idiot. What kind of servant would let their master work? Have more respect for your place in the Asim family. Your father would be furious if he found out." Jamil lectures,"Jamil, you're always so serious. It's fine. We are students together at school right now." Kalim waves him off with a carefree smile.

Jamil sighs at his attitude,"Then how about I get the dishes and you help me carry it out?" he suggests,"That works for me!" Kalim chirps,"I can help too if you want." y/n offers, but Jamil waves her with a smile,"No need, you're our guest." he says.

"So?" y/n raises a brow at him,"We have to serve you." Jamil simply tells her as Kalim waits at the doorway,"Nah, I never did like that concept. Even if I'm a guest, I'll gladly offer some form of help. Just ask me." y/n says with a warm smile, her words sparked something in Jamil as he looks at her wide eyed.

Though he huffs a smile,"I insist. Just relax." he tells her before follow after Kalim while Grim searches for something,"Hm? Something wrong?" Kalim asks Grim,"Ah, no? Nothing at all!" Grim jumps with a smile,"Okay! We'll be right back with it!" Kalim grins before he and Jamil finally left for the kitchen.

"... Now I'm really confused, y'know. This Kalim doesn't really listen to others, but I don't think he's a bad guy, y'know." Grim tells y/n as he sits down in front of her,"I get what you mean. He's actually a really nice guy. Though, that does make me wonder. What caused his bad mood yesterday?" y/n mutters, her hand cupping her chin before running footsteps catches their attention.

It was Kalim, but she could immediately tell something was off about him,"Hey, you all... How long do you plan to sit around stuffing your faces!? Do you presume to become kings!?" he catches everyone's attention with his sudden shout, scaring most of the residents.

"Whaaaattt!?" everyone screams with awe, shock and terror at Kalim's sudden personality change,"Clean this mess up! It's time for afternoon training!" Kalim orders with a glare,"Ye-yessir!" the residents nod before scrambling to clean up their mess.

"Eek... Now we're back with scary Kalim!" Grim yelps as he hugs y/n as Kalim looms over them both,"I won't let you escape. We'll be practicing defensive spells until evening. Get out to the courtyard!" he shouts as he points in the courtyard's direction and y/n was quick to get onto her feet before walking towards the courtyard,"This goes beyond 'emotionally unstable'... Does he have a bipolar disorder?" she mumbles with worry.

After long hours of training, everyone had dinner and were immediately sent off to bed, or prison in the Ramshackle Duo's case as their door is being locked,"... Okay, we made sure those guys from Ramshackle Dorm are locked up tight in here." Scarabia A says,"Let's continue our guard rotation." Scarabia B says, pointing a thumb over his shoulder.

"There's a lot of residents trying to run away... Kalim is furious." Scarabia A frowns heavily as he puts the key away in his jacket,"Apparently, he's not listening to Jamil's advice either." he adds,"How long will things go on like this?" Scarabia B hugs himself, sorrow evident in his eyes,"... I wanna go home." he whimpers,"Stop your whining. I'd much rather be home with my family too..." Scarabia A glares at him before leaving. Scarabia B was quick to follow after him.

"...Did the night watch move on?" Grim asks as he and y/n listen for any signs of noise against the door,"Sounds like it." y/n tells him and Grim plops his butt onto the ground, an exhausted look on his face as his ears droop,"We got worked so hard I thought I'd lose my lunch this afternoon. Headmaster isn't coming to our rescue either..." he whines before sporting a serious look.

"We have no choice but to handle this ourselves." he declares as he stood back up,"I guess you're right." y/n mutters as she couches in front of him, Grim nodding at her in agreement,"Which is why I went out of my way to come up with a foolproof escape plan." he boasts pridefully.

"Oh? And what is this 'foolproof' plan of yours, oh Grim the Great?" y/n asks with teasing smile, but she's actually curious to know what his plan actually is,"Listen and be astound. I grabbed the most important item for our escape during lunch today." Grim then reaches behind himself and pulls out a spoon that was tucked away in his bowtie,"Look at this!" he grins widely as he presents it like it was the finest treasure to be discovered.

"A spoon? What're you gonna do with a spoon?" y/n asks with a raised brow,"We'll use this spoon to dig our way through the floor, bit by bit!" Grim explains and y/n sweatdrops at this so-called 'foolproof' plan,"And what about this is 'foolproof'? That's gonna need time and perseverance, Buddy." she tells him.

"I got this, I was called the burrowing escape artist back home. You keep look out so we don't get caught!" Grim reassures her before getting to work at digging a hole near the wall while y/n sat against the door to listen for any noise heading their way.

After an hour, y/n was lightly humming a tune while Grim managed to make a decent dent in the ground,"It's easier to dig than it appears! This is gonna work, y'know." Grim chirps with joy as he continues to dig for another hour. Y/n was starting to nod off, but Grim luckily snaps her out of her sleepy state,"Digging is too mindless, I'm bored..." he says with boredom.

He then turns to y/n,"Switch with me, I'll take the next watch." he says and y/n nods,"Sure. It'll at least keep me awake then." she says as she takes the spoon from him and starts to dig herself, surprised by how easy it is to dig through the floor,[What materials did they use?] she thought.

"Ugh, so tired..." she yawns after another hour,"Crap! Night watch is back! Hurry, pretend to be asleep!" Grim whispers and y/n was quick to leave the spoon in the hole, place a rug over it before scrambling into bed. They both pretend to be asleep just as the night watch stops in front of their door before moving on after a few minutes.

They were quick to continue their digging through the entire night, dark eye-bags prominent on their features,"We dug all night and the hole is finally big enough that I can fit my arms through." Grim announces with exhaustion,"Good news is we made goo progress. The bad news... It can't be completed in one night..." y/n says, sitting on her bed with her head resting in her cupped hands, wishing to just fall asleep then and there.

The rattling of the door catches their attention and Grim was quick to cover their escape route before the door was shoved open by the same guy again,"Get up! It's time for our morning routine. We're marching to the East Oasis again!" he shouts before yelping when a pillow was chucked at his face, hard.

He pulls it off and was able to yell at y/n, but freezes up when he's met by her deadly glare again,"Hey amigo... What did I say about barging into a girl's room, huh?" y/n scowls at him,"I'm sorry!!" the boy was quick to get his butt out of there and shut the door behind him.

"Hey, you okay?" his friend asks once he saw his pale face,"... I think I just saw my life flash before my eyes..." Scarabia A utters with fear filled eyes,"W-what?" Scarabia B jolts at this before looking at the door behind his pal and shivering with fear,[Are girls really that scary?]

After ten minutes, y/n, Grim and everyone else found themselves outside again while Kalim rode on his elephant once more,"Wipe that sleep look off your face! Our march to East Oasis begins now!" Kalim announces just as the march begins.

"I didn't sleep enough and this heat is killing me..." Grim whines with droopy ears,"How do you think I feel...?" y/n grumbles with annoyance as they trudge through the desert,"Didn't sleep enough? Well make sure you drink plenty of water so you don't collapse." Jamil advises them as he kindly hands y/n a flask of water.

"Jamil..." the Ramshackle Duo stare at him with awe and admiration,"Got it. I'll be careful..." Grim nods,"Thank you, Jamil." y/n smiles at him, causing a pink to dust the boy's cheek. But Jamil turned away before either of them could see it.

"You in the rear, you're falling behind! Lift your umbrellas higher!" Kalim shouts as he points at a poor boy,"You in the front, I can't hear your bells! No slacking!" he points at another poor victim while Grim and y/n try to catch their breath, the exhaustion and heat hitting them all at once.

Y/n would've collapsed if Jamil hadn't helped held her up after y/n tripped over her own feet,"Hang in there. You'll die of dehydration if you stop here." he tells her gently as he helps steadies her on her feet,"Hard pass on that, y'know..." Grim wheezes,"Same..." y/n groans as she pulls herself away from Jamil, not wanting to be a burden to him.

"This is taking longer than yesterday, move!" Kalim shouts as he slams a fist against his knee,"Ugh... I can't take another step..." Scarabia B whines as he slacks behind a bit,"Jamil, how much farther?" y/n asks as she wipes some sweat off her forehead,"I can see the oasis. It's almost break time!" Jamil informs everyone, much to their relief.

"It's only a bit further, hang in there everyone!" he encourages,"Vice Dorm Head... You're working to keep our morale up...!" Scarabia B wheezes,"High morale isn't going to ease my exhaustion, y'know!" Grim cries out as y/n wipes the sweat from her chin,"Let's go, one last push." she utters with determined eyes.
