Y/n and Grim had followed the residents outside to the courtyard to watch them train. Y/n had to be honest, she wished she could join them if she had magic. She does also wonder that if she had magic, what her Unique Magic would be. Simple thoughts like that.

"Alright, we're done with training! Let's go!" Kalim cheers as he ran towards y/n and snatches up her wrist so he could drag her along with him while Grim ran after them,"Whoa, Kalim slow down!" y/n yelps at the sudden movement,"Wait, we still have stuff..." Jamil gives up with a sigh as he watches Kalim run off with y/n.

Kalim had dragged the Ramshackle Duo back inside the dorm and down a hallway,"Whoa~ Everywhere you look has a golden sparkle to it... Completely opposite from Ramshackle Dorm, y'know." Grim says with awe as he looks all around him,"Even I have to admit, this place is like a palace." y/n says with glimmering eyes as she studies every structure of decor in the building.

"Is it that surprising? My dad did give a small donation to remodel the dorm when I got accepted, but..." Kalim explains to them,"Just how rich are you!? Are you some kind of prince like Leona!?" Grim asks with shock while y/n cups her chin in thought,[I'm starting to see a pattern here with these Dorm Heads.] she thought.

"The Asim family isn't royalty so I'm not a prince, but some of my family is related to the royal family." Kalim reveals,"Asim...? Wasn't your name Al-Asim?" Grim asks with curiosity.

"'Al' is an old word from the Land of Hot Sands that means 'son'. Family names are passed down by one's ancestors so... They said that all boys born into the family will be called 'son of...'" Kalim explains as y/n's eyes glimmer with interest and curiosity.

"My ancestors was 'Asim' and since I'm a boy I get 'Al' and..." he turns to them with a smile and a finger lifted up,"Since my name is Kalim Al-Asim, it means 'Kalim, son of the Asim family'." he finishes.

"Whoa... I've never thought about the origins behind names before." Grim says with interest and wonder,"It's hard when you're not familiar with it? You can just call me Kalim!" Kalim chirps begore turning back around and continues to lead them down the hallway.

"Well, there are students from all over, you're bound to learn something new from meeting them." y/n says with a smile before Kalim turns back around and grabs her hands,"You should come visit me in the Scalding Sands sometime! We'll take good care of you." he promises before letting go of y/n's hands with pink cheeks.

"I bet your house is as big as a castle." Grim claims,"Not really. We only have about 100 servants." Kalim says as if it's no big deal,"100!?" y/n's jaw drops at the number,"100 is way more than enough! I've only got my one minion." Grim says as he pats y/n's leg, who playfully nudges him with it.

"It's because I've got more than thirty younger siblings. There's no way we could take care of them all without that many servants." Kalim reveals,"Th-thirty!?" the Ramshackle Duo's eyes bulges out of their head at that high of number.

"Uuuhhh, it might be forty. I stopped counting once it got over thirty! I've got all their names and faces down though! Ah ha ha!" Kalim says proudly as he continues the tour,"His mom must be superhuman to have survive that many births..." y/n thought with a dumbfounded look,"That's in a whole other league from us normal people..." Grim mutters.

"Jamil's mother and father are part of our servants. So Jamil has been helping take care of me since we were little. Jamil is amazing. He's smart, observant and more than a great cook!" Kalim praises with eyes full of fondness,"That I can't deny!" y/n chirps,"You're right, everything we ate was awesome." Grim praises.

"Right? You guys should stick around for dinner too! 'Kay!" Kalim offers,"If we're not intruding too much." y/n smiles softly,"S-sure." Grim nods before scurrying onto y/n's shoulder as Kalim walks ahead of them,"...I got lost in the moment talking with this guy." he whispers in her ear.

"I'm just relieved that there are good people at this school. Especially a Dorm Head." y/n whispers back,"Hey guys, don't be whispering way back there! Come here." Kalim waves the two over, him standing in front of a double door.

Once y/n walked over to him, Kalim led them inside. There, the duo's jaws dropped at the sight of mountains of gold coins, gold bars, gems, valuable pots, treasure chests, plates and,"Is that a sword!?" y/n whispers loudly as she eyes the curved blade,"Baaaah! What is this place!? It's floor to ceiling treasure!" Grim squeals with shock and amazement.

"My dad had me take all of this when I left home. It couldn't all fit in my room so I turned this room into a store room for it." Kalim explains as he walks from pile to pile,"This sir a store room, it's a treasure vault!" Grim exclaims,"Or treasure room!" y/n adds.

"Ooh. That's a good word for it. Very nice!" Kalim grins at them begore turning back to the mountain of treasure,"My favorite thing in this mountain of treasure is..." his brow raises in confusion as he scratches the back of his head.

"Huh? Where is it?" he utters as he searches around the pile while Grim gets off y/n's shoulder to explore by himself,"Do you need help?" she asks as she follows after him and said boy nods at her,"It likes to go all over the place by itself sometimes." he tells her with a sigh before cupping his hands around his mouth,"Heeey, where'd you go?" he calls out.

"'It'? Is it alive or something?" y/n asks with worry as she follows after Kalim,"Uh, yes and no?" Kalim answers with uncertainty, worrying y/n even more about what they're searching for as they left Grim by himself.

"Whoooaa... Gems as big as my eyes and shiny, gold cups." Grim's eyes shone at the sight of the valuable items before smirking as he rubs his front paws together mischievously,"With all this I'm sure he'd never notice if one went missing... Heeheehee..." he laughs 'evilly' before rummaging through the mountain of treasure, unaware of the shadow looming behind him.

He feels someone poke his back. Thinking it was y/n, he waves her off,"I'm a little busy looking through treasure right now!" he says without turning around.

He feels her poking him more, this time irritating him further,"Will you just leave me... Gaaaahhh!!!" he screams with terror when he saw that it wasn't y/n poking his back, but a flying carpet waving it's like tassel at him,"That carpet is moving on its own! Is it some kind of possessed carpet!?" he screams as he backs away.

His scream luckily attracted y/n and Kalim towards his location,"Whoa, a magic carpet!?" y/n marvels at the sight of the magical item while Kalim looks relieved,"Oh, so that's where you were. Why do you never stay rolled up where you're supposed to?" he says with a smile as the carpet flies over to him, waving it's tassel at y/n, who returns the wave.

"What the hell is that thing!?" Grim cowers behind y/n's leg as he stares up at the carpet,"This is a legendary treasure from the Scalding Sands, the magic carpet!" Kalim presents as the carpet gave another wave at the Ramshackle Duo,"This guy is a replica of the flying carpet once used by the sultan that the sorcerer of the sand served. It's been in my family for generations." Kalim explains and the carpet nods.

"That's incredible." y/n whispers before her mind once again goes blank and the carpet before her was completely different. It was purple with red and gold designs on it instead of the gray colors on it from before.

Y/n couldn't help but reach out to touch it, but as her hand made contact with it, she's snapped back to reality and the carpet was back to normal. It was enjoying her petting and y/n smiles at this as she continues to strike its 'head'.

"Flying... So can you ride this like a broom?" Grim asks with curiosity,"Yup. You'll get it faster if we go for a ride." Kalim says as the carpet straightens out and allows Kalim to hop onto it,"The sun is almost down so we can enjoy the sights under the night sky! So hurry, get on, get on!" he urges and y/n hesitates with Grim.

"Eeh? We're not gonna fall?" Grim questions with suspicion,"I agree Kalim, I'm a little hesitant to get on the carpet." y/n admits as she fidgets with her fingers, but blinks when Kalim holds out his hand with a smile.

"You'll be fine. Trust me." he says as they both made eye contact,"...Okay." y/n smiles as she finally accepts his hand and he pulls her up next to himself while Grim jumps on front,"And we're off!" Kalim says as he guides the carpet with incredible speed out of the treasure room through a window and high up into the night sky above the clouds.

With the sudden jerk of it, y/n had latched onto Kalim in fright, who wrapped an arm around her waist as to make her feel secured all the while blushing with a grin.

"Whoooaaa!! We're really flying! I really shouldn't look down!" Grim says with amazement as y/n took a peek down, amazed at the incredible view below her,"The dorm is already tiny!" Grim exclaims as they watch the dorm get smaller and smaller the farther they flew up and away.

Y/n finally took her eyes off the dorm and decided to look up instead, her eyes glimmering at the sight of the stars and the moon right in front of her as the clouds act like a soft surface,"Beautiful..." she mutters, making Kalim smile softly at her.

"Above the clouds is a different world, right?" he tells her,"Yeah! It's like a whole new world." y/n grins as she finally found the courage to let Kalim go and really enjoy the ride for herself,"Ah ha ha, like it?" Kalim chuckles as he still held a grip around the girl's waist.

"It's the best!" the Ramshackle Duo say in unison,"Flying free in the sky is wonderful. All your worries just seem to drift away." Kalim says fondly as he leans back a bit,"Jamil is always telling me I don't care enough, though. I wish he could live a little more freely..." he says softly and y/n smiles softly as well.

"Ffgna! There's a bird I've never seen flying over that river!" Grim exclaims as he points down and the other two follows his gaze,"Oh, you're right! Let's go check it out!" Kalim says before guiding the carpet downward,"Ahahaha!" y/n laughs as they flew down, enjoying the wind caressing her being.

An hour or so of flying, the three made their way back to the treasure room and with a 'goodbye' to the magic carpet, made their way back to the lounge,"Pheeewww!! That was a blast!" Grim says with a broad smile,"That was the best experience I've ever had!" y/n cheers with her own wide smile.

"I'm glad you had fun. And it looks like it's already dinner time." Kalim notes with a warm smile just as Jamil rounds the corner and approaches them,"Kalim! You're finally back." he says with relief.

"Could you come with me, there's something I want you to check before dinner." he adds as he places a hand on his friend's shoulder,"Yeah, sure." Kalkm nods at him before smiling at the Ramshackle Duo,"You guys can head to the lounge." he says,"Sure!" y/n chirps before picking Grim up and heading towards the lounge.

While waiting for Kalim and Jamil to get back, y/n was chatting with the other residents and getting to know them. She can tell that most of them are one in the same and some are not. She wonders if the Dark Mirror sorts them by their personalities or backgrounds.

"I'm starving. I wonder what's for dinner today." Scarabia A whines,"Training kicked my ass." Scarabia B groans as he rubs his backside,"This place is heaven compared to Ramshackle Dorm with all its holes." Grim says with a content smile as he lies in y/n's criss-crossed lap.

"Kalim's pretty great, too. I wanna live here." he adds as he makes himself comfortable in the girl's lap,"Aw, and leave poor lil' old me all alone? How shameful of you Grim." y/n feigns sadness, causing Grim to feel guilty,"I mean, if you want to, I'll stay with you." he stammer and y/n giggles as she scratches his ear,"I'm just messing with you, Buddy." she says softly and Grim pouts at her teasing.

Footsteps catches everyone's attention as Jamil and Kalim made their appearance,"Is everyone here? Before we eat, our dorm head would like to make an announcement." Jamil says while y/n noticed something odd about Kalim.

She doesn't know why, but her gut is telling her that something is off about him now.

"An... announcement?" Scarabia A utters,"Oh yeah, earlier he mentioned..." Grim thinks for a moment,"Ending the training and letting everyone go home for the break." he says quietly so he doesn't ruin the surprise.

"I'm sure Scarabia will be happy, but I'm sure gonna miss being able to eat like this everyday." he adds and y/n nods in agreement,"Not gonna lie, me too." she says sheepishly before looking at Kalim with unease.

"Originally I had decided that we of Scarabia would spend our winter vacation studying for six hours a day, but... I've realized..." Kalim suddenly glares at everyone,"That is nowhere near enough!!!" he yells, shocking everyone with his words.

"What!?" everyone jumps with baffled looks,"Didn't want say you wanted to let everyone go home!?" Jamil reminds him with shock,"That's not at all what he said earlier!" Grim reveals with a dumbfounded expression,"Yeah, what the heck changed his mind?" y/n mumbles with furrowed brows.

"There's no way we can catch up to the other dorms with only six hours a day. We can't clear our sullied name without twice, no, five times the effort!" Kalim claims fiercely,"Starting tomorrow, all of us will study for five hours followed by four hours of practical training!" he announces.

"Whaaat? That means they'll be working for nine hours a day!?" Grim notes with furrowed brows,"After dinner we'll practice defensive spells! Don't drag your feet." Kalim says with narrowed eyes.

"Ye-yessir!" all the residents nod as they stood up straight like soldiers while Kalim approaches the Ramshackle Duo and glares down at them,"Since you've been enjoying our hospitality you will take part as well! Understood?" he tells them.

"Whaaat? Why us!?" Grim yelps in shock,"Kalim, I can't even use magic! What am I supposed to do in that sort of training?" y/n asks, eyes full of worry as she wonders what happened to the sweet boy from earlier.

"You will then receive regular defense training from Jamil." Kalim spat before walking away,"Things are getting weird. What's with him all of the sudden?" y/n whispers to herself as Jamil approaches her,"I promise to go easy on you." he tells her.

"Thanks Jamil, I appreciate that." y/n says with a soft smile before gasping when her vision goes dark. The Ink Room is revealed to her again as it's bathed in an orange-yellow glow. Two drops of ink echoes in her ears and gathers in their usual pool before she's finally snapped back into reality.

Y/n coughs as her chest tightens up a bit,"Hey, you okay?" Jamil asks wirh pure worry as he rubs the girl's back,"I-I'm fine... I just choked on air." y/n reassures him with a shaky smile before sending Kalim a wary glance,[...It's happening again...] she thought with a sigh.
