I sat down next to Jay and placed my backpack laying down on the table, "This is my backpack. The same one I used for school." I explained, "Unlike all of you my bag isn't a black void." I joked.
My bag was a tan color with three zippers on the outside. On the inside of my biggest pocket was another pocket. And a smaller inner pocket at the front.
I first opened the big zipper and reached inside. I took out five things. My glasses case, two boxes of contacts, contact lense solution, and eye drops, "So these are my eye things. My glasses. The frames are new too," I opened my case and showed my glasses. The frames a rose gold color.
"Honestly, noona, without them youre blind." Niki joked.
I rolled my eyes, "Oh hush NiKi. Anyways. I also have my contact lenses." I held up the two boxes, "Like Jay's, they're a bit beaten up-"
"!" Jay yelled.
I sighed and continued, "I've been using the same prescription for a while. And I have a lot." I explained. I set them down and held the two bottles in my hands, "The bigger bottle is my contact solution. My eyes get dry easily. Especially during allergy season and winter. And the small bottle is my allergy eye drops. My eyes get really red and puffy during allergy season if I don't use these daily."
I pulled out a small makeup bag and opened it up. I started cracking up when I saw what's inside, "What what's so funny?" Jay asked me.
"We are not showing that one!"
I quickly stuffed the pouch in my bag and pulled out another one and pretended nothing happened, "Soojin what was that?" Jake laughed.

I smiled and looked at the camera, "My girl Engenes will understand."
They all realized what I meant and said "Ohhhh."
"Okay this bag is my make up bag." I explained. I unzipped it and looked inside. I started taking out the bottles and made sure to hide the brands, "Uh my foundation, concealer, lotion, mascara, contour, and lip balm and lip gloss." I also pulled out another small plastic bag, "My hair stuff. A bunch of hair ties. People who use hair ties daily understand the struggle of forgetting them and losing them. And some bobby pins. AND- a headband." I said dropping the fabric headband on the table.
"Wait put it on." Heeseung urged.
I shrugged and brought it under my neck and pushed it back up, "To keep my hair out of the way incase I lose my hair tie or something."
"How do you fit that much in there?" Jay asked.
"When I got older I started going out of country to do figure skating so I learned how to pack a lot in a small bag." I explained. I pulled out another pouch and opened it, "Oh yes my meds." I placed the three bottles on the table. I pointed to the one in the middle, "Pain meds." I pointed to the one on the right, "Allergy medicine." And I pointed to the last one, "And some vitamins and supplements."
"It's a pharmacy like Sunoo hyung." Jungwon joked.
I chuckled, "It's called staying healthy. I already dealt with enough pain for a life time." I said. I looked inside my bag and seemed to gotten to the bottom. I pulled out the two spray bottles, "Since we practice a lot we get sweaty sometimes and dirty. So I bring dry shampoo and conditioner for my hair." I pulled out two folded pieces of clothing, "And an extra change of clothes if I need to. Usually it's more stylish since I wear it after practice." I looked inside again and saw my wallet, "Well I have my wallet in there. But I don't feel like showing it so- it's going to stay in there."

I opened the second pocket and pulled out my four things, "Perfume. I like to use subtle scents. Not super strong ones. And my head phones and phone charger." I showed them all the the camera, "A lot of people ask why I don't use wireless, it's because I just really like the feeling of having them in my ear and having the wire there. I don't know." I shrugged. And I held up my small hair brush, "Again, my hair can kind of get messy after practicing a lot so I make sure it's not too tangled."
I opened the last and smallest pocket and felt inside. I laughed at myself when I felt the four items. I took them out and buried my face in the table while everyone laughed at the randomness, "Okay I have no clue why I have a tuner and a guitar pick in here. I thought it was in my guitar case but I guess not. Sometimes I bring the guitar to work and leave it in the studio, sometimes I bring it and bring it back. It's just random."
Sunghoon inspected the pick, "How do you still have that one? You lost it so many times over the last couple years."
I shrugged, "I have no idea. I have a collection of picks. But this is my favorite one." I told them, "And then..." I put my hand in again, "Oh and socks. I don't like to stay in sweaty clothes." I said simply as everyone laughed. I showed the camera quickly before putting it down, "And I think that's- oh there's one more thing."
"How many things do you have?!" Jay asked.
I laughed, "Like I said I can fit a lot of things in small bags... oh it's a Polaroid." I pulled it out and smiled at the photo. I showed it to everyone and the camera, "A Polaroid of me and Sunghoon. At the park."
"I have a matching one." Sunghoon added. I nodded, "I have it at home."
"OH wait- ." I mumbled making everyone shocked. I pulled it out and everyone gasped, "A pocket knife." I said casually.
I looked at Jay who's face was mix of concern and panic, "Why do you have a pocket knife?!"
"Incase. My brother gave it to me. You don't know what creeps are lurking in the alleyways." I said jokingly. But seriously, my brother gave it to me in case some guy tries anything.
I checked my bag again to make sure it was empty, "Okay! So that's it!"
"So in conclusion, Soojin is a smart packer." Heeseung laughed.
I proudly smiled and nodded, "My mother has trained me from a young age how to pack." I joked.

Shadows in the Dawn Mist
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - Winner November 2020 When a young woman is lured back to her homeland for the opportunity of a life time, she must face old fears. But never would she think that facing up to her past would change everything. Is History written by the victors, or by someone or something else...? *** I started writing this a few years ago and eventually fell out of love with it. I never finished it and my newer books are being written in different writing style, and genre with a more planned process. I decided to revisit it for the writathon and found that it wasn't as hopeless as I'd come to think. Hopefully, I've improved as a writer since them so the consistency may vary. Its been good to revisit and analyse my writing which I feel used to have some clunky and obvious dialogue which I'm trying to fix. This will always be my first novel and I hope, with a little exposure, I may come to like it again. Thanks for reading!

Daily life of a cultivation judge
Tired of those cultivators who think it is righteous to eliminate a sect or clan root and stem all in the name of revenge and avoiding future troubles, fights over treasures that end up destroying cities with no consequence whatsoever to the culprit, these psychos whose aim for the peak always involves a trail of carnage and bloodshed in its wake for some reason. Then look no further than the daily life of a cultivation judge. Yang Qing, is a young genius cultivator from a low-tier family whose only safe choice to get resources and hopefully lead an easy life led him to the courts of the Cultivation Order Society. Author’s disclaimer: Hey there this is my first novel so any criticism will be well taken though beware I’m a million-year-old monster who has cultivated the way of the sword to the peak. The daily life of a cultivation judge will be true to its name so it will be heavily on the slice of life lane with a bit of action here and there.Meaning we will see the life of Yang Qing when he clocks in and out. Hopefully, it will be one of those novels you read if you need to relax or are in a slacker mood like one of those otakus who listen to the noises of cicadas in the summer famously used in most animes. And it is in the slacker spirit that chapter release will be on Wednesday,Thursday and Friday. Sank yuuu Cover art by Conny Schneider on Unsplash
