-2 days later-
"Thanks for letting me stay here Alana. I should be moving out in about 2 weeks"
"No problem girl, anything for my cousin", she hugged me.
I smiled and hugged her back. While I been here, I seen my parents and I gave them big hugs.
I can't believe I'm back in Toronto. I knew I would be back but not this soon.
I heard a knock on the door.
"You expecting someone?"
"Nah", she said, walking to the door.
My eyes widen when I saw Dominic. What was he doing here?
"Can I come in?", he said.
My cousin nodded and let him in. He walked in and looked at me. She closed the door and walked to the back.
"What are you doing here?"
"I should be asking you that same thing", he said.
"Dominic jist go home okay. Go be with your family"
"Why do you think I want her back Leah?"
"The way yall get along, it just makes me upset okay", I said, crossing my arms and looking away.
"You're jealous?", he smirked a little.
"No!", I blushed and looked at him.
"You're cute, you know that?", he said, holding my arms.
"Can you not?"
He smiled at me and pecked my lips. I stared at him and smiled. This man was so handsome it was crazy.
"What?", he raised his eyebrow.
"Nothing"
"Soo can I meet your family?"
"Sure, we can go tomorrow"
"Alright"
.
-Next day-
I walked in my parents' house, holding Dominic's hand. I closed the door and walked to the kitchen with him.
I saw my dad sitting at the table, looking at tv. My mom was cooking some lunch for them.
"Hey guys"
"Hey sweetie", my mom said.

"Hey, who's this?", my dad said.
"This is my close friend Dominic"
"How are you?", my mom asked him.
"Good, how about you?"
"Good", she smiled at him.
My dad got up and walked to us. He looked at Dominic and raised his eyebrow.
"You're that Sage guy"
"Yes sir"
"Don't fuck up her heart or I will send my sons to come fuck you up"
"Yes sir", he said, looking scared.
"But otherwise, you look like a nice guy", he shook my hand and smiled.
"Thank you", he nervously laughed.
.
Dominic and I were sitting in the backyard on the grass.
"I love your parents but your dad scares me"
"He scares everyone but he isn't playing. Terrance thought it was okay to cheat on me once and my brothers messed him up"
"How bad?"
"Broken jaw, nose, and a broken leg"
"Damn, your brothers don't play"
"Surprise they didn't shoot him. They're so violent"
"They have been to jail?"
"Shockingly no"
"Well okay. How old are they?"
"25 and 27"
"Big Brothers, okay"
I laughed and kissed his nose.
"Just be good and they are really cool"
He nodded and pulled me closer to him.
"Come back to LA with me", he said rubbing the lower part of my back.
"I don't know if I should"
"You should and you can live with me"
My eyes widen when he grabbed my butt.
"We're not even together yet"
"So?"
I looked at him and raised my eyebrow.
"Okay, I'll come back"
He smiled and kissed me. I kissed him back and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"But under one condition", I said, pulling away.
"Yes?"
"You have to quit hanging with your ex. I understand yall have a kid but that's all it should be about nothing more"
"Anything for you", he said, rubbing my lip.
I smiled and pecked his lips.

MANTIS: On Hiatus
Two young adults who were childhood friends are killed amidst a pandemic worse than our own. After many years apart, Rihelah was on her way to see Michael, hoping to rekindle their friendship on the day they would both lose their lives. The pair are unwittingly selected to represent Earth in a test set forth by godlike beings who are intrigued that our world gave rise to complex life without having been intentionally seeded by their kind. Michael and Rihelah are reincarnated as predatory insects upon a distant planet called Edon. Elves, Dwarves, Dragons and their kin, Goblins, Ogres, Humans, Lizardfolk, Orcs, and sapient arthropods known as Enkelyn all inhabit this beautiful world touched by magic. The tiny mantids must survive terrified and very much alone upon arrival, while neither is aware that the other has also been reincarnated upon the same island. Naked in their new chitinous exoskeletons, they must now brave the terrors of an alien world's food chain. Each will benefit from their years of experience on Earth, but they must somehow find a balance between old lives and new. Moderate mindsets and peaceful values from a mostly safe and privileged life on Earth must now contend and somehow coexist with the strange physiology of a new and unfamiliar body as well as the violent aggressiveness of a predator's mind. To top things off, the pair are about to find themselves struggling with their inner turmoil while swept up by terrible conflicts they know nothing about. Both endure the hardships of their new lives while attempting to understand and make proper use of a mysterious and terse video-game-like System that pops status notifications into their vision from time to time, but initially has no useful interface. Some of the options they are presented with sound enticing, but as with everything else in life, each choice has benefits and drawbacks... Author's Note: This story makes many changes to the original version, and readers of Mantid will find that many things in Mantis are new and different; especially after the first few chapters. I've learned a ton from writing like a madman, and also from the RR community. I appreciate you guys! :)

Reborn Into My Novel
What if you lived in the world of your own creation? As fate would have it, our dear amateur novelist, Ellie, was reborn into the world of her fantasy novel after falling asleep at her computer. Bewildered as she was, the first person that she met was the protagonist of her novel. To add salt to the wound, it was right before the tragedy that decimated his village as per his backstory. Will Ellie save the village (and herself) to risk changing the fundamentals of her novel? Will she instead let the story run its course and leave everyone in the village to their deaths? Disclaimer: This novel is a work in progress and will be updated hopefully at least once a week. Expect minor mistakes (maybe some typos and punctuation errors) since this is the very first draft. The author suffers from perfectionism and impostor syndrome and therefore attempts to use this as sort of a therapy to break away from perfectionism and self doubt. Basically, the author employs a “I don’t care anymore and screw this trash work” mindset just to get stuff rolling and not set any expectations. Basically, basically, the author just wants to write something and not care about planning and quality and all those nice things about writing a GOOD novel since it’s counterproductive. Kthxbye. ps: Thanks for even reading this trash work pps: You’re not trash for reading this trash work btw ppps: Thanks I love y’all so much Shout out!
