《The Beginning of the Age of Heroes》Chapter 4

When they got to where they could see the camp, they all stopped, and Oliver then gave his orders. "Barry, you will go in and rescue the girl, Thea, Yeo Fei, and I will give you cover. Sara and Laurel will use their powers to clear a path for you as well. Kara, I need you to go and find a map of this island, I am sure they have one in what looks like the tent with all the electronics in it over there." Oliver said and everyone went to do what their job was.
Sara and Laurel went in first. Sara used her mind control to get all of the men to go back to their tents. Laurel could use mind control as well and she told them that there was something happening on the other side of the island and that they needed to go and help. The men that were on the other side of the camp were taken down by Oliver, Thea, and Yeo Fei. This gave Barry the time that he needed to get in and save the daughter of Yeo Fei. Kara went into the tent with all the electronics and was able to find a map that would help them getting around from day to day.
As they made it back to the cave that they had been stay in, they couldn't help but be pleased at how well they did on their first outing. Of course things would get better because none of them really knew how to fight right now and once they got that down they would probably be just about unstoppable.
"That went better than I thought it would. Of course, they were week minded so that made it easy for me to do what I had to do." Sara said.

"Yeah, it was pretty easy for me too." Laurel said.
"So, who are you people anyways?" Shado asked.
"We were shipwrecked here, and your dad is now teaching us archery and how to fight." Oliver said.
"Nice to meet you all and thanks for helping to save me. My name is Shado." Shado said.
"I am Oliver, this is my girlfriend Laurel, this is her sister Sara, those are my sisters Thea and Kara, and that is Barry. It is nice to meet you as well." Oliver said.
"Well, I am willing to help with teaching you as well. I know everything that my father does." Shado said.
"Thank you. We can use all the help that we can get." Laurel said.
"I got this map of the island. Is there any certain place that we should go next?" Kara asked.
"I know of a man that is on the island that was sent here to save me. I know where he is located. The map will help us all get there. He will be able to help you learn to fight as well." Yeo Fei said.
"Ok, so we will start to make our way to that position then." Oliver said.
"We will go after night fall. It will be harder for those men to see us if we go then." Shado said.
"Ok, so we should probably get some rest now, while we can since we are going to be moving at night." Barry said.
"Yeah, that makes since. So, let's get as much sleep as we can now." Oliver said.
Shado walked up to Oliver and said, "So, I guess you are the leader of this group. Are you open to new members?"
"We will take as many as we can. If what we have been told is really coming, we will need all the help we can get." Oliver said.

"Well, you seem to be well in control of things here and it seems that all of your friends trust you with their lives." Shado said.
"I guess they do. I never really thought of myself as much of a leader, then I found out what I am supposed to be in the future, so I am just trying to embrace that." Oliver said.
"Well just follow your gut and everything will be ok. Don't second guess yourself. That will only lead to trouble." Shado said
Laurel walked over and asked, "Should I be worried here?"
"You know you have nothing to worry about with me. I only have eyes for one woman." Oliver said.
"No. I was just asking him if I could join your team when we make it off of the island." Shado said.
"I wouldn't see where that would be a problem. I think we will need a lot of help." Laurel said.
"So, you are Sara's sister?" Shado asked.
"Yes, I am." Laurel said.
"Is she dating anyone?" Shado asked.
"Not that I know of. She is a little wild. So, there is a possibility that she is." Laurel said.
"I think she is pretty. Do you know if she is into girls?" Shado asked.
"She is into both boys and girls. She has been known to have both at the same time sometimes." Laurel said.
"Well, I might try to talk to her later." Shado said.
"Might as well. Everyone else here is in a couple so why not you and Sara. We can't count Thea because she is only twelve." Laurel said.
"How did she come to be with all of you on your ship anyways?" Shado asked.
"She snuck on and we were too far out to sea to turn around once we found her. I now wish we had turned around though." Oliver said.
"I think we all do Ollie, because that means that we would be in our homes and not on this island for who knows how long." Laurel said.
"I know everything looks bad right now and it is all probably going to get worse, but we will all become better people for this experience, especially Thea and me. I mean you have to admit, we are both very spoiled. I am surprised that Kara didn't turn out like us as well, as much as mom spoiled her when she was first adopted." Oliver said.
"She was old enough when she came to live with you that she knew better." Laurel said.
"I guess you are right. Now let's get some rest so we will be ready to go and find this other guy when the sun goes down." Oliver said and the two girls nodded, and they all went to sleep for a little while.

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.

The Ultimate Supporter
Mona stood there, her body has stopped shaking as she stared at Sarah with no expression. “... do I have to set a goal?” Mona asked quietly. “Yes, if you do not then you will not be allowed to play Road Builder.” “...why? Why do we have to set a goal?” “This game is about inspiring people to work hard towards something that they wish to achieve. Don’t you have something you wish to achieve too ma’am?” “... I… do.” “What is your goal then ma’am?” “My goal… my goal is to become the ultimate supporter.” Feelings rushed back into Mona’s eyes as she clenched both her fists hard. “I want to help others succeed. I don’t need to be the main character. I want other people to be the main character.” Mona yelled as tears began to stream down her face. “I just… I just want to feel needed again.” Mona sniffled. Sarah looked at her with a soft expression on her face. “Is ‘I want to become the ultimate supporter’ your final choice?” Sarah asked. Mona bit on her lip as tears continued to stream down her face. She slowly nodded her head. “Alright then… this goal has been registered onto your avatar. You will soon spawn into a town and began your journey.” Sarah smiled, her eyes illuminating warmth to Mona. Mona nodded her head understanding as she wiped away the tears. A blue circle appeared around her as numbers counting down from ten appeared in front of her. 10… 9… 8… “By the way ma’am.” Sarah said. 7… 6… “Yes?” 5… 4… “I am sure you will achieve that goal, and to guarantee that, I give you my blessings.” 3… “What?” 2… “Enjoy your time in Road Builder.” 1… ********* Please point out if you notice any mistakes so that I can fix it. Also, because I re-edit this a lot so the chapters are going to come out very slowly(and because the blue tables take a while to do). Any comments and reviews are welcomed and are appreciated! Thanks for reading!
