《Canary After Lightning》Eight

9 long months. 9 months since Barry went into his coma, and everything has really changed. Joe and Iris had welcomed me into their life, Joe invited me for Sunday dinners, I spent the fourth of July with them, and they had just been amazing.
I had the weekend off, so I decided to pay a visit to Starling, but before I left I went to visit Barry. He hadn't changed, but Caitlin mentioned he had slightly reacted to her dropping a tool, so she had hoped he would wake up soon.
I sat at his bedside, taking his hand and leaning on the bed. "Hey, Barr" I greeted. "I'm going to Starling for a trip, just to check how everyone is doing, handling things without me, making sure no one is killing each other. I'll be back Monday night, maybe early Tuesday morning. I don't really want to see Oliver, he pissed me off a few months ago, but I know I have to suck it up cause the man can't survive without me. I hope you wake up soon, your family needs you"
"Cisco, no!" Caitlin said. Cisco was turning on Poker Face by Lady Gaga. "Sorry, Avery"
"No, it's fine," I said. "Why are you even playing it, though?"
"I stalked his facebook, this is apparently his favourite song," Cisco said, "I mean, he can still hear us so"
"Well, I should get going, my mom wants to get dinner before I leave," I said, I stood up and leaned over and gave Barry a kiss on the cheek. As I turned to leave, he grabbed my hand and shot up.
"Oh my god" I gasped.
"Holy" Cisco said, "He's up!"
"Barry," I said. He was freaking out, he took my arm and looked at me confused.
"Avery?" He asked, "What the hell?"
"Relax, don't worry," I said.
"BP 170 over 110. pulse 120. Pupils equally reactive to light" Caitlin went into doctor mode.
"Where am I?" He asked.
"Caitlin, calm down," I said, "You're at STAR labs"

"STAR labs?" He asked. "What happened?"
"You were struck by lightning," I said. He was trying to get out of the bed but paused once I told him.
"I'm sorry, what?" He asked. He stood up and stood in front of one of the TVs with a camera. "Lightning gave me abs?"
I bit my lip and looked away. "Do you remember anything about that night?" Caitlin asked
"Oh my god," He said turning around to look at me, "You weren't hurt, were you?"
"I got thrown across the room, but I was fine," I said, "You have to let these guys take care of you"
"You've been in a coma for 9 months," Cisco said.
"9 months?" Barry asked.
"Indeed" Wells wheeled in, "It's good you're finally awake, Mr. Allen"
"Dr. Wells," Barry said.
"Follow me, Mr. Allen"
~
I was waiting for Barry to come back, I sent a few texts to my mom and sisters.
I put the phone down as Barry and Wells came in. "Which is when Detective West, Miss West, and Detective Lance agreed you should be moved here, into our care" Wells stated.
"Joe and Iris?" Barry asked.
"They visit all the time," I said, "They'll be happy to hear you're awake"
"I should go see them," He said.
"Dude, you just woke up from a 9-month coma," Cisco said.
"And I am feeling fine, thank you, really" He ran out, he popped back in. "Avery?"
"Oh, right," I said, "I'll get him back here, I promise"
"Good luck"
~
We arrived at CC Jitters, Barry looked around and smiled when Iris noticed him. "Oh my god!" Iris exclaimed. "Barry"
She ran over and hugged him, Barry hugging her back. "Hi," Barry said.
"Why didn't STAR labs call me?" Iris asked.
"He literally just woke up," I said. "He's not supposed to be out, but he ran out to fast for any of us to try and stop"
"Barry" Iris scolded him.

"I feel fine, I'm alive, I'm breathing," He said. A waitress tripped, causing her plates to drop and shatter on the floor. Barry looked around confused. Oh no.
"Are you okay?" Iris asked the girl, she nodded and Iris turned around again. "Let me grab my stuff, dad'll be so happy to see you"
~
We walked into the precinct and everyone began greeting Barry. "Good to see you alive, Allen" everyone smiled.
"Thanks" Barry smiled. We stepped into the main room where everyone was, Joe looked up and smiled.
"Oh my god, Barr" He stood up and came over, hugging him. "Oh, it's good to see you"
"Quite the nap you took there Allen, yet you still got a baby face," Someone said, making a few people laugh.
"Are you really okay?" Joe asked.
"Yea, I feel perfectly fine" Barry smiled.
"He actually wouldn't know, Caitlin couldn't test him cause he ran out before she could," I said.
"Barry" Joe scolded.
"I said it, I feel perfect," he said.
"You should still get checked out," Joe said.
"I'll take him back to STAR lab after a short visit," I said.
"You better listen to her, she's spent more time with Dr. Snow than any of us," Joe said. "Are you still going to go for your trip?"
"Uh, no, my sisters agreed I should stick around for a bit, I can take your Sunday shift if you want," I said.
"No, I got it," Joe said. Barry looked at me confused.
"I work for the CCPD now" I smiled, "I'm Joe and Eddie's partner"
"She's been an amazing help" Joe patted my shoulder.
"I try" I shrugged.
"We got an armed robbery in progress at West City National Bank, I'd suggest taking your rain gear, storms really picking up," Officer Andrea said.
"Alright, I think you should get back to STAR labs, make sure he is confirmed to be okay by Dr. Snow," Joe told me.
"Got it" I nodded. Eddie grabbed his coat and passed us.
"Good to have you back, Barr" Eddie smiled, running over to catch up with Joe.
"Oh" Barry saw the photo in the 'In Memory' case.
"Clyde Mardon shot and killed Chyre the night the particle accelerator exploded," Iris said, "Dad took it pretty hard, but thankfully Eddie and Avery were able to help"
"You've really been helpful" Barry turned back to her.
"I admit, I might have felt guilty for you getting struck by lightning" I shrugged.
"Avery" Barry sighed.
"It's my nature" I shrugged.
"Iris, can I talk to you," Officer Rhodes asked. Iris walked off to talk with him. Barry looked around and I felt a small gust of wind and a few officers struggled with a guy they were detaining.
"I need some air" Barry went to walk out and I knew something was up, so I followed him. We got into the elevator and he leaned on the wall.
"Barry, are you okay?" I asked.
"Yea" He nodded. "Uh, why don't we head back to STAR labs?"
"Okay..." I said. We exited the building through the back and he suddenly hit the wall across the parking lot. "What the hell?"
"How?" He asked himself, he held up his hand and it was vibrating at superspeed. I looked around, hoping no one saw him.
"Barry we need to get back to STAR labs," I said. "They can help you"
In seconds he hit a patrol car and shattered the windows, he fell off the car and looked at me shocked. "Woah" He chuckled.
"Barry, Barr-" I tried to stop him, but he already zoomed down the alleyways. "Goddamit"
I went running after him, seeing him crash into a laundry van. I managed to get to him as the laundry van driver helped him out. "Sorry" Barry apologized.
"I've seen a lot of weird over the years, it don't faze me anymore," the driver said, turning and getting into his van.
"Barry" I panted, "What the hell was that!?"
"I have no idea," he said, "But it was awesome"
"We really need to get you back to STAR labs, they should know how to explain this," I said, taking his hand. "I thought I was powerful.."
