《Canary After Lightning》Seven

"Night, Avery" Eddie said, I was packing up to head home.
"Night, Eddie," I said, "Don't work yourself crazy"
"Promise" He responded as I headed to the elevator, stepping and checking my phone. Nothing new, Oliver was still working to stop Slade, Thea and Roy were having troubles, Laurel was overworking herself, Sara was working with Nyssa again, Dad was being dad, and Felicity and Dig were having a debate over Big Belly Burger or Chinese.
It had been 2 and a half months since Barry went into his coma, I got an apartment a few blocks from the precinct, so I didn't drive home. "Night, Detective" The security smiled.
"Night, John," I said, stepping out of the precinct and started walking towards my apartment. It was a cold night, mostly thanks to the small snowfall earlier this morning.
I was getting closer to my apartment when I was thrown into an alleyway and my purse was ripped off my arm, and the guy began shoving me on the wall. I took his arm and spun him, slamming him on the wall, I thought I knocked him out so I went to grab my purse when he grabbed my ankle. I turned around and let out a deafening scream.
The guy hit the wall again, covering his ears and leaning on the wall. I stopped screaming and crawled backwards, "What the hell!?" the guy asked, hunched on the ground, he stood up and ran back into the dark alley.
I grabbed my bag and ran out of the alley, racing back to my apartment and locking my door. I ran into my bathroom and looked at the mirror and holding my throat. "How?"
~
I walked into the cortex of STAR labs and saw Barry hadn't changed. I sighed and looked at Dr. Wells. "That wall of Light," I said, "The first blast that knocked out power"

"Yes?" Dr. Wells asked.
"It changed people, didn't it?" I asked, "Like gave them... abilities"
"Why would you ask?" Wells asked.
"Cause I think it changed me," I said.
"What?" Caitlin asked.
"Last night, I was walking home from work and someone pulled me into an alleyway, but I was able to get out of his grasp. I went to grab my purse, but he grabbed me and I turned and let out a scream, but... It wasn't a normal scream" I stated. "I had the worse sore throat after the particle accelerator, I thought I might have hurt it when I called out for Barry or I hit it myself when I was thrown across the room, but I don't think it's that now"
"I think we should go down to the parking lot," Wells said, "I want to hear this scream"
~
The four of us entered the underground parking lot, which I didn't really think was a good idea. "Aim for this" Cisco ran over to a few feet away from me, putting a glass bottle on the ground.
"Alright, Detective Lance, show us," Wells said.
I turned around and sighed, leaning and taking a deep breath before screaming. It was the same scream from last night, and it shattered the glass bottle as well as a window on a STAR labs van. I stopped screaming and looked back. All three of them had covered their ears and were staring at me in shock.
"Holy," Cisco said.
"That's, not... what?" Caitlin was taken back.
"That is extraordinary," Wells said.
"What is it though?" I asked. They looked at each other with questioning each other.
"A sonic scream"
~
Caitlin did dozens of tests, finding that a lot had changed. My eardrums were able to handle higher frequencies than normal, my vocal cords had changed, and I was a little stronger than before. "So the particle accelerator did this?" I asked.
"Yes," Wells said, "We believe the accelerator released something called dark matter that changed you"
"If it changed me, how many others were changed?" I asked.
"Our guess... hundreds," Wells said. I sighed and sat down, "Almost everyone in the city was exposed to it"
"What about him?" I asked, looking at Barry.
"We don't know," Caitlin said, "We'll have to wait until he wakes up"
What did I get myself into?

Chromesight

Megacorporations accrue enormous power by linking together nations turned insular in the aftermath of yesterday's global multilateralism; a reinvigorated United Nations threatens the crumbling sovereignty of state by enforcing human rights independently of member nations, and the UN and others patrol for mass destruction technologies in the ever-accelerating, ever-democratizing arms race. Another environmental collapse looms, visions of the last haunting memories and consciences of the lower and middle classes around the globe. The goal is to finish this as quickly as possible and then possibly circle back and tidy things up. In the meantime there'll be no editing and helter-skelter story planning since I didn't do it beforehand :/
