Barry pulled me back to his lab, "Are you okay?" He asked.

"Yea, I'm fine" Avery smiled, "I just hate getting compared to my father all the time"

"I guess it can get tiring to hear," He said, opening his lab, the sunroof had been left open, slightly flooding his lab. "Dammit"

"Oh my" I giggled a little.

"Just leave it, I'll clean it later" He led me around the pool of water. He turned on his computer and put it on the news.

"I'm Linda Park and we're live outside of STAR labs despite the weather, which will only get worse. The torrential downpour has in no way affected the Particle Accelerator, Which is up and running smoothly according to STAR lab CEO Harrison Wells" Barry turned back to me.

"Sorry, we missed it" He sighed.

"It's fine," I wrapped my arm around his neck and we went for a kiss, we stayed connected for what felt like an eternity, pulling back and smiling. "Welcome to the Future"

We were going to kiss again when a loud bang came, we both jumped, looking over to STAR Labs. A wall of light came barreling towards us, knocking all power out. "What the..." Barry looked around. "Get to the back wall"

I listened, running over the wall near the door as he went to close the roof. I pulled out my phone, trying to call my mom, but the line was dead. "My phones not working," I said.

"Try mine" He handed me his phone and I tried dialling my mom again. Dead. "No, not working either"

"Dammit," He said, the chain had snagged.

"Do you need help?" I put both phones down, I turned back to see a bright beacon of light shoot out of STAR Labs. "Holy shit"

"Stay by the wall," He said, pulling on the chain more, "God knows what that thing can do"

I wanted to move, I wanted to help him, but it was like I was glued to one place. Some chemicals on the shelves around the lab began floating. "Barry," I said, he stopped and looked at the shelves.

"Stay back, Avery," Barry said.

The chain began rattling and we both looked up at the roof. "Barry," I said, sort of trying to warn him. In seconds a light and cackle hit the chain, sending both me and Barry flying.

I hit the wall and landing on the ground, my vision blurring, Barry was not even a few feet away from me, lying on a shelf. I slowly closed my eyes...

"It's getting close Ollie," I said, closing my book and sitting up. Thunder crashes and rain pouring just outside.

"We'll be fine, Ave," Oliver said, handing me a glass of champagne. "My father wouldn't drive us into a deathly storm"

"I know that, but-" Another loud crash of thunder nearly made me drop my glass. Oliver chuckled, leaning over me.

"We're fine, Avery" He smiled, kissing my neck. "I'm always here with you"

I slowly opened my eyes, Eddie and Iris were running in. "Oh my god!" Iris exclaimed I groaned, sitting up.

"Hey, hey, relax" Eddie tried slowing me down.

"Barry" I croaked, my throat was sore and I could barely speak. "Lightning"

"He was struck by lightning," Eddie said to Iris who was checking Barry's pulse.

"He's breathing, but barely," Iris said, "I'll call the paramedics"

I sat up, holding my throat. More people ran in, including Singh. "What happened?" He asked.

"Barry was hit by lightning, Avery was knocked out" Eddie explained.

I crawled towards Barry, he was knocked out cold. "The ambulance is on their way, but they said there's a chance he won't- he won't make it" Iris began crying. Someone began consoling her, but I couldn't take my eyes off Barry.

Of all the people in Central City... Why Barry?
