《New Earth: Arrow》Chapter 45

Today was the day that Oliver was officially announcing his candidacy for Mayor, which was now being backed by not only Queen Consolidated, but also by the newly renamed Smoak Technologies, since Felicity had finally been able to change the name from Merlyn Global Group to Smoak Tech, since she pointed out that separating the company from the Merlyn family name would be good for their stocks.
"Looks like you're all set for your announcement today Ollie." Thea said to Oliver as they walked through his campaign office.
"I can't help but notice that you aren't helping to fund my campaign." Oliver said, giving his sister a hard time, to which she just rolled her eyes and punched his arm.
"Take that up with Kara. However, don't forget who's going to be filming your announcement." Thea said, since Kara had approved of her idea to turn the Star City branch of Danvers Daily News into a TV news branch, which Thea now ran and was also the anchor of, something that both her mother and brother were very proud of.
"True. Still can't believe that you're a news anchor now." Oliver said.
"I never thought that you'd become mayor or become the key to saving the entire universe, and yet here we are. I think if there's one thing we've learned by now it's that us Queens are full of surprises." Thea said and Oliver chuckled.
"Fair enough." Oliver said John approached them.
"Everything's ready boss. All we're waiting on now is you and while I know you like to make an entrance, I don't think showing up late to the announcement of your campaign for mayor is a good idea." John said.
"Very funny John. You sure you're okay with just being my head of security? I thought you'd want to stay with Argus." Oliver said.

"Honestly Oliver, the only reason I took the job with Argus is because we were on the outs with each other and I know that is mostly my fault. My place is by your side, it always has been. Besides, you should have someone you trust vet the rest of your security." John said.
"Fair point. Now, let's not keep the public waiting." Oliver said as took a deep breath before entering the room where the press was gathered.
"Thank you all for coming out here today. As you all know, earlier this week I stepped down as the CEO of Queen Consolidated and now I have finally decided that I am ready to reveal my reasons for that. The main one being that as of now, I am announcing my candidacy in the election to become the new mayor of Star City. Now I know that I don't possess the traditional background of a politician. I certainly did not study politics at any of the four universities I attended, but honestly, I think that is what makes me the best choice. I think that is what allows me to see this city without my vision obscured by political goals. And what I see is a city divided. A city that has been divided for far too long and while I admit that my family has contributed to that, I believe that it is time for all that to change. Despite the fact that we are all supposed to be a part of one city, the division between us and the Glades has likely made them feel like they are their own city instead of being a part of ours. That needs to change. It's time to replace that division with something that is sorely needed right now. Unity. For it is only when we are united that we will be able to change things. Only united will we be able to repair the damage to this city and build it into the Star City we all believe it can be. A place that is considered safe for families to come and settle down. I believe that if we all work together, we can make that dream a reality. And that is why I am running for mayor. Because I believe that the only way Star City can truly shine once again is if we all work together to make it happen. Thank you." Oliver said passionately as all the press clapped for him before they started to ask him questions.

"Well, I'd say that was a successful press conference wouldn't you?" Laurel asked Oliver as they all entered the bunker.
"Are you kidding, they were eating out of Oliver's hand." Rene said with a grin, right as they noticed a case on the table.
"What's that?" Dinah asked as Oliver saw a note attached to the case and recognized Cisco's handwriting.
"As requested, a cure for Thea. Make sure she's certain that it's what she wants, since once she takes it, there's no going back." Oliver read aloud as he opened the case to find two items in it. The first was an injector gun that likely contained the cure and the second was a golden ring with a sword insignia on a yellow background.
"Well Speedy, you sure want this?" Oliver asked as he picked up the injector and Thea nodded.
"Being Tsunami was great, but honestly, she wasn't me." Thea said as took off her gold and blue ring, since she knew she wouldn't be needing it anymore.
"Okay then." Oliver said as he took her arm and gently injected the cure into her and Thea closed her eyes as she felt the cure take effect and if she was being perfectly honest, she liked the way it felt and honestly, for the first time since she'd discovered her powers, she felt like herself again.
"How do you feel?" Laurel asked her when Thea opened her eyes.
"Like me again. Completely human. And honestly, that's something I've missed." Thea said.
"Well, now I think I know why Cisco included this. Tsunami is gone, which means you need a new suit." Oliver said as he tossed her the ring that was in the case.
Thea grinned as she activated the ring and found herself once again wearing a yellow, more advanced version of her old suit.
"Yellow." Thea said as she noticed another note in her bow.
"Red is more Roy's color. Yellow seemed more fitting for you." Thea read.
"Well, yellow is your favorite color." Oliver said and Thea nodded in agreement.
"I like this way better than either of my other suits." Thea admitted as she reached behind her back to find that Cisco had even included the sword of Al Faith in it, since it was hers now.
"So long Tsunami, welcome back Speedy." Oliver said with a grin as the rest of them suited up to head out for nightly patrol.
