《A Journey towards Her.. [COMPLETED]》6. The life changing day..

I waited through out the night for elena to open the door but there was no traces of her. I don't know what or where I went wrong that she is angry on me to such an extent. Giving up, I reached my home at early morning. How can I call it as home? It's nothing but just a building made of bricks. A home is a place where someone should be waiting for you to come. There should be someone to love you with all their heart, to make you feel special. But here, I have no one to even look upon me. After my Father's death two years back, I became more lonely. Now I have no one to call as mine, except her. I still strongly believe that she is waiting for me somewhere in this world, to see me, to hear me, to love me... like I do. I retired back to my room to atleast have a nap for a few hours. I feel like today will be the beginning of a new phase of my life.. The phase which is going to change my life completely. After literally tossing on my bed for 2 hours, I woke up to welcome my first day in my new workplace. I love my work the same way I love her. I can't give up on one for the other. I don't know why but I feel like one will lead my path to the other. Pushing my thoughts aside, I dressed up quickly and descended down to be greeted by Kichu bhaiya.
"Dev Sir, I waited for you last night, but you didn't come, so I went back to my home",he said serving the breakfast. "It's okay Kichu bhaiya, I had some work yesterday.. That's why I was late", I said. "I hope the work you had went good", he said as I reminisced elena's words and how she pushed me out of her house. I simply nodded at him, I'm happy that atleast I found elena's house. Now I'm sure that sonakshi is here somewhere. But something that I can't understand is why was elena behaving weird. Anyhow, she can hate me but she can't ignore me. I'm ready to stand at her doorstep every day and night to atleast get a glimpse of sonakshi.
Soon, I reached the hospital. I went to meet Dr. Mehra first and after completing the formalities, I retired back to my cabin to treat a bunch of out patients first. The day went very tiring and it was lunch time. I rested my head back on the chair and closed my eyes, savouring my memories with her.
As sonakshi passed by Jatin's room she was surprised to see Dev busy in packing his luggage. "Why are you packing your bags?", she asked entering in. Hearing her dev turned around excitedly and rushed towards her. "Sonakshi.. Sonakshi.. You know what happened?", he jumped excitedly. "I will know only if you say. Tell me", she asked but Dev was all in smiles. "Sonakshi, I got my admission in London University", he jumped in joy making her face to lit up soon. "Wow Dev.. Congrats!", she exclaimed, being extremely happy for her friend. "So, I'm leaving to Delhi tomorrow morning", he said and soon her face dropped down. "But you were supposed to go after two weeks only, isn't it?", she asked in shock. "Yes, but now I have to do some arrangements before my admission there. I should get some documents from my old college in Delhi. So all this might take a week or two", he explained returning back to his unfinished work.

"Oh", this was all she could say as she herself didn't know what made her sad. Every year, when Jatin leaves back to Delhi after his summer holidays, she will miss him for quite a few days. But this time, the thought of Dev leaving haunted her. She didn't know why but she felt something bad. "Sonakshi, you know dad was very much happy about this. It is my mom's dream to see me as a doctor. But she couldn't. But for her, I will become one of the top doctors of India. No one should lose their mother, like I lost mine", he said and turned around to see sonakshi lost in her thoughts. He went towards her and shook her by her shoulders. "What happened? Where are you lost?", he asked and it was then she regained her composure. "Nothing.. I know you will do it but..", "But what?", she asked confused. "What if you forgot me?", she asked with a sad pout. "Oh.. So that's what your problem is..", he said looping his hand around her neck and made her sit beside him. "You know what.. You are the most strongest girl I've ever seen. Someone who looks at you, will never say that this tiny girl as gone through so much. You are special to me and will always be", he said pinching her nose to which she giggled. "And I will never break my pinky promise with you. Soon, after a few years, you will see me as Dr. Dev Dixit and even at that time, you will always be special to me", he said as she smiled.
"But I don't know why, I feel something.. Something bad was about to happen", she said nervously. "Nothing bad is gonna happen. Don't confuse yourself. Go and sleep, tomorrow I need to go early morning. Try to wake up a little earlier atleast tomorrow", he said to which she twitched her nose. "Call me atleast once in a month", she said getting up sadly. "I'll call you every week, if possible every day", he said but she didn't look convinced. "Why are you behaving like you are sending me to my in-laws house on bidai.. Smile", he said stretching her lips into a curve with his fingers. "I will miss you", she said sadly. He pulled her into a friendly hug, giving her an assurance that he will be back. "What if, this is our last hug?", she asked pulling herself back. "May be.. After three years Ms. Bose may become a celebrity, a famous RJ of the city, then she won't hug or even talk to a poor man like me", he said to which she hit his arm playfully. "Okay, now help me in arranging my bags", he said to which she agreed and they both started their work.
That night, was the last time I saw her. I don't know why she didn't even come to send off me. I waited for her patiently till the train arrived. But she was found no where. After that when I got back to Delhi, I got busy in making the arrangements for my departure. After reaching London, I tried calling her many times, but all in vain. When I asked about this to Jatin, he said that Bose family shifted to Kolkata and so they have changed their number too. I tried to get her number but I couldn't. I spent so many sleepless nights, without seeing her, without hearing her voice. I felt so lonely, at first I thought it was because I was alone there. But with time, I realised that I was not alone, I was alone without her. It took me sometime to realise that I have fallen for her, but by that time, I fell so bad that I couldn't get myself back from her. I impatiently waited for my three years in london to get completed and flew back to India to meet her. But to my bad luck, she was not even in Kolkata. Then I was sent back to UK again, to complete my doctorate. After coming back to India, there wasn't even a single place that I didn't search for her. But I don't know how she keeps hiding from me everytime. But I very well knew I will find her soon, and now I'm sure that the day not so far.

I was lost in my thoughts that I didn't realize a person standing near my cabin door and staring at me. "Dev", I heard someone calling. As I opened my eyes, soon my lips curved up. "Come in", I said and arohi entered in holding her teddy bear tightly, taking small steps. The smile crept on her face, was the cutest of all. "What is my princess doing here?", I asked as she stood before me. "I.. I came to see you", she said as I made her sit on my lap. "Anything important?", I asked to which she nodded. But before she could say, a nurse knocked the door. I excused her inside but arohi hid herself in my chest, seeing her. "What happened?", I asked the nurse as she looked at arohi and me. "Doctor, this girl is so adamant. Now she is not even eating her food", she complained. "I will make her eat. You leave", I said and she placed her food here and left my cabin.
After confirming that the nurse went out, arohi turned around slowly, looking through her one eye. I chuckled seeing her sighing in relief due to the nurse's absence. "Why are you not eating?", I asked to which she pouted sadly. "I don't like this food.. Even my teddy didn't like it.. Haina teddy?", she asked her doll making me giggle. "Then what do you want to eat?", I asked to which she tapped her forefinger on her chin, gesturing to be thinking. "I like chocolates", she said and I chuckled. "You can't eat chocolates for lunch. You need to eat some food too to become strong.. Like me", I said showing her my biceps. She poked my biceps with her forefinger and giggled to herself holding her mouth. "But I like chocolates only", she said pressing her lips. Even this habit of hers reminded me about sonakshi, and her craze for chocolates. This little girl never leaves a chance to remind me about her. "You know what, I know a girl, she is very much like you", I said to which she looked at me in surprise. "Does she look like me? Same to same eyes.. Same to same nose.. Same to same lips.. Same to same cheeks..", she continued but I giggled stopping her. "No.. No princess. She won't look like you. She is much bigger than you by look but her mind and heart is same to same as yours", I said. "Who is she? I want to see her", she said. "She is my best friend. Even I want to see her.. But.. We will see her soon", I said convincing her. "What is her name?", she asked. "Sonakshi", I said to which she repeated the same in her babyish tone.
"Now arohi is going to have her lunch with me", I said opening my lunch box. I know, though she is eating some diet food here, it is okay to eat some home food. "Dev, even my mumma packs lunch bag like this. Did she pack this for you too?", she asked. I don't know what to say. How will I tell her that her mom is no more to pack her lunch bags. "No, this was packed by Kichu bhaiya, he is a cook in my house", I said and opened the box. Surprisingly it has aloo parathas.. Not bad. I took a piece and fed her, she munched it and smiled.. Thank god she liked it. "Why? Won't your mumma cook for you?", she asked still munching it. "My mumma went to meet god", I said. "Oh.. I think then she will cook for god", she said smiling. I smiled back seeing her innocence, how will I tell her that even God took her mother with him. Once she was full, I went to her ward and made her sleep. She asked about her mother once in a while, but I managed to put her into sleep. I wonder why she trusts me so much.
After that I retired back to my cabin, only to be greeted by a bunch of files. Before I could go through them, the nurse informed that it was my time to go for rounds. I asked her to take the files of the respective patients and we reached the ward. It took me more than 2 hours to examine all the patients and go through their records. But there was only one remaining. I sighed tiredly and went to the Intensive Care Unit, followed by the nurse with the patient's record. I got the file from her hand and glanced at the patient's history. "Doctor, this patient was shifted from NIMHANS, Bangalore just a month ago. When she was admitted there she was found to have been in persistent vegetative state. But still, after 4 years, there is no improvement in her health, so they termed it as permanent and was informed that the recovery is also quite hard. Seeing this, they have admitted her in our hospital, but still her condition doesn't seem to get better", she said as I went through the record. "Patients age and name?", I asked still looking at the file without glancing at the name mentioned at the front. "Age 24 years, Name Sonakshi Bose", she said as I stood stunned. I could feel the sweat beads formed over my forehead. I was scared to look up. I slowly lifted my face, my heart thumping loud in my chest. As I looked up, I felt the floor beneath my feet shifted. The file slipped from my hand and the papers scattered on the ground. "So..na..k..s..h..i..", I gasped as I saw her lying on the bed lifelessly.

There for the first time, he will make true friends and find people he will come to see as family. He will encounter strong enemies, build powerful alliances, and become a person his ancestors would be proud of. But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here

Changement : Version Pile [French]
Notice: This story is in French, not in english, mainly because of my poor english. I may translate it later if I get better, and hopefully I will. - Author's note: this story is a concept. During the first chapter, the main character is faced with a major decision, which will change his life forever, and, not knowing what to do, he decide to play heads or tails, and let fate choose for him. And so there will be two versions of this story, one for each of the result, and their consequences for the main character, as well as all those around him. Here, he got tails.
