"I'm sorry but I don't remember who you are and I don't know anyone called sonakshi", elena said as I stood there frozen. "Elena, it's not time to joke", I said trying to control my raging anger. "Why should I joke to you Mr. Dixit? I don't even know you", she said. "Okay, let it be. But please tell me where is sonakshi? She is fine right?", I asked panicked. "How many times should I tell you that I don't know anyone called sonakshi?", she shouted as I banged my fist on the wall in anger. Elena looked at me startled as I tried to compose myself. "I don't know why you are hiding her from me. I heard you calling the radio station today morning for wishing sonakshi for her birthday. I know she is somewhere here. Please tell me where she is", I pleaded her but she looked unaffected. I couldn't control my rage and this made me spit the words that I shouldn't. "You would've told me about sonakshi if you cared about her.. If she was your real sister but..", I stopped as I realized what I was about to speak. She stood there looking down, what followed then was death silence. "I'm.. I'm sorry elena. I didn't mean..", I was about to continue but she cut me off. "Mr. Dixit, I think you have mistaken me to be someone else. Now please let me go. It's my working time so please don't disturb me", she said barging out of the room leaving me behind.

What did she just say? I know I went a little overboard but why is she lying to me? Is my sonakshi fine? Or.. No! I shut my eyes, trying to absorb the tears that were about to flow down. No, I can't give upon her. I very well know that sonakshi is also waiting for me the same way I'm waiting for her. She will be expecting me to come to her. I won't let her wait any more long. I know she is here, somewhere very close to me. What if elena denied to tell me about her? I will find her, in my own ways. My thoughts broke hearing my phone ring. I received the call, it was Dr. Mehra. "Yes Dr. Mehra, I'm on my way. I'll be there within half an hour", I said disconnecting the call. I hesitantly dragged myself from there, making my way towards my car.

After completing all the procedures, Dr. Mehra asked me to take a look at the files in my cabin. He wanted me to have a glance at all my patient's history before I join. As he said, I made my way towards my new cabin. It was neat, clean but colourless. I slowly walked in, taking the entire view as the flashes of my memory came before my eyes.

Jatin saw sonakshi and elena entering his house with a huge box. He stopped them in their traces and started examining the box. "What is there inside?", he asked doubtedly. "Bomb!", Elena shouted as he rolled his eyes off her. "Ele, he isn't worth of even getting killed by bomb", Sonakshi said pushing him away from her path, walking towards the dining room. "Dadi.. Maa told us to give this to you", she shouted placing the box on the table. "I want to know what is inside", Jatin interrupted again and tried to take away the box. "No.. Don't touch! This is for Dev", Sonakshi said taking it in her hands. "What? What is so special about him?", he asked angrily. "Even I don't know. From last week Maa was praising only Dev and see now she prepared these special rasgullas for him", elena said fuming. "Rasgullas!", Jatin exclaimed trying to get the box from sonakshi's hand but she refused to give him. "Hey Jatin! Why are you troubling sonakshi?", his dadi yelled as she saw him running behind her to grab the box from her hand. "See dadi, Sonakshi is not giving me the rasgullas", he complained as she shook her head. "I will give you, but only after giving it to Dev", she said walking towards his room leaving a fuming Jatin behind. "Huh.. Dev!", he huffed stomping his foot in anger.

Sonakshi walked towards his room holding the box in her hand. When she was about to enter, she saw Dev sitting on the bed, engrossed in some book. She purposely cleared her throat to gain his attention. When he heard her coming, he quickly hid the book behind his pillow, wiping his tears. "What are you hiding?", she asked placing the box on the table, sitting next to him. "Uhh..hmmm..nothing", he said averting his gaze. "Dev..", she said narrowing her brows and he took the book from behind the pillow. "Picture book!", she exclaimed taking it from his hand and opened it excitedly. "Wow.. Is this you? You look so cute", she said looking at his childhood pictures. He simply nodded his head with a tight lipped smile. "This must be your mom and dad.. Am I right?", she asked showing him a picture consisting of an hardly 1 year old dev with his parents. "Yes", he said and she turned the pages. "Your mom looks so pretty.. Strange to believe that she is your mom", she said jokingly but he was in no mood to laugh or scold her. "Why are you being sad?", she asked closing the book. "Nothing", he said averting his gaze. "You are thinking about your mom right?", she asked and he let out a long breath. "What is the use now?", he asked sadly. He was tired of crying for the past two months. He tried to make himself understand that she is no more but her memories haunted him.

"You atleast have some beautiful memories to look upon. You should be happy about that", her voice trailed off as he looked at her astonished. This was the first time he was seeing her sad. "Leave it.. You must be having your childhood pictures, isn't it?.. Show me that", he asked enthusiastically trying to cheer her up. "I don't have", she said taking him by surprise. "Why don't you have? Your parents must have kept it somewhere. Come let's ask about them to your mom", he said getting up but she grabbed his hand, stopping him in his traces. "They.. They are not my parents", she stuttered while he looked at her shocked.

"Sit here", she said making him sit beside her. He couldn't believe what she was saying and so he did the same. "Asha Maa is my mother's sister. When I was 3 years old, my parents passed away.. I.. I saw both of my parents dying infront of my eyes", she said shutting her eyes as tears failed to drop down. He squeezed her hand, giving her the courage to speak further. "We lived in Ahmedabad. One day when I was playing in our backyard, I heard a loud noise. When I turned around I saw my house blasting. They were inside.. I was able to hear their scream..I was so scared that I fell unconscious When I woke up I saw asha Maa and she told me that my parents are never gonna come back and I'm going to live with them after then. I used to cry a lot, sitting in a corner. Later mumma told me that I used to cry asking for my mom and dad. Elena was one year old by then. Both mumma and baba took care of me more than their own daughter. They never showed any difference between both of us. I'm lucky to have them", she said smiling through her tears. Dev couldn't believe anything. He never thought that this chirpy girl, had such a bad past. This side of her was extremely new to him. "Baba never took me back to Ahmedabad coz he feared that I may get depressed again. And seeing my burnt house will never help me again. It was just an accident dev, but it turned my life upside down. With my parents, their memories also died there in our house. I don't have anything to look upon..", she said as tears trailed down her cheeks. Dev wiped her tears and took her in a friendly hug. She hugged him back, letting out her bottled up emotions, as he rubbed her back slowly, calming her down.

"I'm sorry", he murmured and she pulled back herself. "Why?", she asked surprisingly as she could see the tears visible in his eyes too. "I was so much lost in my own sad world that I didn't even notice my best friend's struggles. So sorry", he said holding his ears. "It's okay Mr. Obhodro", she said giggling while he gave her a death glare. "Look at this", she said taking a heart shaped locket. She opened the locket and they heard a music play. "This is so cool", he said taking it from her hand. "My mom gave this to me on my 3rd birthday", she said smilingly. "I don't know why, but now I feel like giving this to you", she said as he looked at her surprised. "But Sonakshi, this is a gift from your mom", he said giving it back to her but she was hesitant to have it. "No, it's my wish to give this to you. You should have this and that's my order", she said and he looked at her confused. "But..", he was about to say but she interrupted him. "No ifs and buts. If you consider me as your bestfriend, then have it otherwise give it back", she said and he shook his head in defeat. "Okay, I'll have it. And thank you for your gift", he said and she smiled at him. "That's like a good boy. Now tell me what magic did you do on my mom that she's praising you for the past one week nonstop", she asked in confusion. "That's a secret between us", he said winking at her. "Whatever.. She gave this to you", she said taking the box and opening it. "Wha..", he was about to ask but she shoved a rasgulla in his mouth giggling. He gestured her to stop but she kept on shoving one after the other into his mouth, making his eyes pop out.

Dev slid his hand inside his pocket and took the pendant out. He caressed it with his hands as his tear dropped on it's surface. "As you said sonakshi, your memories are the only thing that makes me live my life now. Please come back to me", he whispered and dropped it into his pocket. He got seated and took a file from the pile. He was about to open it but stopped hearing the sound of someone crying. He closed the file and looked out of his cabin. He realised that the sound comes from the children's ward situated at the end of the corridor and so he walked towards the ward. He saw a little girl of around 3-4 years crying aloud, refusing to take an injection. He entered in, gesturing the nurse to wait and sat on the chair beside her bed. She was clutching her teddy bear tightly in fear, traces of dry tears were visible on her face. "Relax princess they won't give you injection. I'll ask them to go", he said smiling at her but she was still sobbing. "I want to go to mumma", she started crying again. "Okay, I'll take you to your mumma if you had this injection", he said and soon she smiled brightly. "Pinky promise?", she asked and he felt his heart pricked. "Haa.. Pinky promise", he said assuring her while she smiled back warmly.

He gestured the nurse to inject her but she started to move back. "What happened princess?", he asked seeing her backing off again. "But.. It will pain", she said pouting sadly. "Hmmm... Let's do one thing", he said taking the pendant from his pocket. He opened it and she smiled brightly hearing the music from it. He gestured the nurse to inject her and she did the same. "See, it's not painful at all", he said and it was then she realized they have injected her already. He made her lie on the bed and was about to leave but she clutched his hand. "Mumma?", she asked and he turned around. "You sleep. I'll bring her", he said pulling the duvet on her. "What is your name?", she asked. "Dev", he replied with a tight lipped smile. "Hi Dev, I'm Arohi", she said and he smiled hearing his name in her babyish tone. "Okay Arohi, now you sleep. I'll bring your mumma", he said and she closed her eyes. "Where are her parents?", he asked to the nurse as they came out. "Doctor, arohi and her parents met with a car accident before 2 days. And we were only able to save her. No one came to take arohi back. We don't know what to do so our chief let her here until she is fully recovered",she said as Dev took some time to let the matter sink into his mind. He didn't know why but he felt a strong connection with arohi. She appeared to him like the same 3 years old little sonakshi who lost her parents.

"I tried to contact elena. But she even refused to talk to me", Jatin said as he was talking to Dev through the video call. "I don't know what happened to her. I know it's my fault but still she is acting too weird", Dev said thinking over elena's behaviour. "I'm sorry Dev. I should've been with you there at this time", Jatin said sadly. Jatin was living in London with his family, working there. Even he wasn't in touch with sonakshi or her family members for the past 7 years. "It's okay Jatin. Don't worry I will find the truth from elena soon. You take care", Dev said ending the call and got seated in his car.

He drove back to elena's office and followed her till her house. He strongly believed that elena was hiding something from him and he so wanted to find it out soon. Dev stopped his car outside the gate, as he saw elena entering her house. He soon parked his car and went to her door. He knocked the door and soon someone opened the door. "What are you doing here?", elena asked in shock. But he walked inside ignoring her and started looking into each nook and corner of the house. "Sonakshi.. Sonakshi..", he kept on calling her name but a few other girls came out of their rooms. "Mr. Dixit, stop it", elena shouted. "Where is sonakshi?", he shouted back while she looked away irritatedly. "Tell me damn it!", he shouted breaking the vase on the table. "Mr. Dixit! How many times should I tell you that I don't know you and your sonakshi. Just get away from here otherwise I will call the police", she shouted but he didn't seem to calm down. "Call anybody. But I want to see sonakshi. What happened to her? Call your parents, I'll talk to them", he said and she looked at him shocked. "Mr. Dixit, I'm living here with my friends. My parents are not here", she said. "Stop lying elena. I saw your father on the signal yesterday", he said and she looked panicked. "But before I could stop him, he walked away", he said and she sighed in relief. "Now, please don't create any scene here. Please get out", she said pushing him off the door. "Elena please..", before he could say anything she pushed him off and shut the door. She sat on the couch holding her head while he was continuously banging the door. "Elena, why did you lie that this is your house?", asked a girl sitting beside her. "I'm sorry Riya, I knew he was following me from my office. I don't want him to know my house. So I came here. I'm really sorry", she said holding her hands. "But why you don't want him to know your house?", she asked and elena looked at her silently. "Because I don't want him to know about sonakshi", she said nervously.
