Surprise!

"Finally! Let me get back to home", Dev sighed tiredly stretching his arms and shutting his eyes as he leaned back on his chair. It was indeed a tiring day for him. Being a doctor wasn't an easy job at all. That too being one of the most wanted Neurosurgeon of the country doesn't make anything easier. He should attend his patients from morning to night sometimes even without a break. But that doesn't stop him from his work, as he is most dedicated towards it. He removed his white coat and was packing his things when he noticed a pair of eyes looking at him, through the little open in the door. The same magnetic eyes, which has the power to captivate him. He stood in shock, as the sight of that dark brown orbs never left him. He rushed towards the door and opened it but before he could catch a glimpse of her, he saw her running in the dark corridors of the hospital. "Stop! Stop!", he ran behind her, without stopping in her tracks, she turned towards him, only to show him her partially covered face. "Please stop.. Please", he shouted but before he could catch her, she got lost in the oblivion, as the bright rays of sun made him hide his eyes with his palms.
"Triiinnnnngggg", the alarm buzzed in his ears as he uncovered himself from the duvet and sat up yawning, stretching his arms. He stood up and went towards the window, sliding the curtains, allowing the golden rays of sun to fall on him. He closed his eyes, inhaling a long one as a small smile crept on his face. "A dream again! You can't run away from me anymore. I'm so near you. I'll find you soon", he said smiling to himself as he rushed down into his memory lane.
:
Dev was standing near a large window, looking at the star studded sky, "The days of my life weren't as dark as this before. How could it be if I lost the sun of my life? Maa.. I miss you", he said holding the photo of his mother, as tears pooled in his eyes. "Maa, how can you go leaving me alone here. No, you didn't leave only me alone, you left dad too. You know, he is the one who was affected the most. But he is showing himself strong, to cheer me up. That's why he sent me here, to Darjeeling along with Jatin so that I could get a little better atleast. But what will I do, you never taught us to live alone without you. We were habituated to your presence Maa. That's why it pains to realise that you won't be there in our life hereafter", he said hugging his mother's photo.
"Dev", his trance broke as he heard his name. He wiped his tears and turned, faking a smile, towards his friend, Jatin. "Haa.. You came. I was just waiting for you Jatin". "Are you crying?", he asked as he doesn't meet his gaze. "No no.. I was just..", before he could finish jatin stopped him. "Dev, you are in depression for the past 2 months. Please dev, cry out. My friend was never like this. I can understand your pain dev. But if you are crying within yourself, it will increase your pain more. You were numb, from that day dev. Please let your emotions out ", he said holding him by his shoulders. "Please Jatin, leave this matter. Come let's sleep", he said and lied on the bed leaving him, lost in his thoughts.

Jatin was Dev's best friend from his childhood till now as they both were doing their MBBS together and he very well knew what sort of person he is. He was never this silent. Together, there was nothing they both didn't do. They were full of mischief from their childhood and often this landed both their parents' in trouble. From their kindergarten to their college days, till now they were always trouble makers. They always stayed together and made their teachers scream their names daily due to their divine activities. But there was one person who supported them always, and it was Ishwari Dixit, Dev's mother. No matter, what they both did, she always showered them her love equally. She thought Jatin as her own child and gave equal priorities to him.
Everything was perfect, until that day, when Ishwari suddenly felt dizzy and was admitted in the hospital. Doctors examined her, and said she suffered from brain stroke. It was hard for everyone to accept the fact but not long after that, she suffered from another stroke and left them permanently. Everything happened all of a sudden, that it shook their lives to a greater extent. From that day, Dev became silent. Though Raghunath Dixit, his father tried to get him back to his normal self, it wasn't an easy task at all. Dev was always close to his mother, and her lose broke him apart. Thus, his father tried to bring him back by sending him along with Jatin, to Jatin's Grandmother's house in Darjeeling for this summer. Though he resisted a lot, finally he gave up and agreed to his father. Dev and Jatin both reached Darjeeling that evening only and decided to take rest for the rest of the night. Jatin too soon dozed off thinking of a better way to get back his friend.
It was morning by then. Jatin got up earlier than usual and went to shower leaving dev alone in his bed. His Dadi, was sitting alone in living room, watching DDLJ and dreaming about Shahrukh khan when someone closed her eyes from her back. "Who's this?", she asked as if she didn't know but how could she not recognize her favourite person. "Your fingers are long and thin", she said tracing her hands. "You should eat more. Otherwise someone will mistake you as incense stick", she said chuckling as the person behind her fumed. "Dadi!!", Sonakshi screamed and marched infront of her. "You are so mean", she said pouting sadly. "Arey, my darling I was just teasing you", she said and made her sit beside her. "My sonakshi is the most beautiful girl in the whole world", she said making her smile and side hugged her. "Then what about me?", Elena rushed there and pushed them aside, settling herself in between them. "You are the second most beautiful girl", she said as she pouted sadly. "Second?", she asked making sonakshi giggle. "Yes second", Sonakshi said making faces and elena started to pull her hair. Soon, they both started fighting like cats and dogs making the whole house upside down. "Hey girls! Stop fighting, I need to focus on my hero", Dadi said as they both rolled their eyes thinking about her craziness for her hero.

Jatin's grandmother was an easy going person and a die-hard fan of Shahrukh khan. She is very cool and chirpy unlike strict grannies shown in TV serials. She was fun loving. She lived alone in Darjeeling after her husband's death though Jatin's father insisted her to come to Delhi. She felt peace living in her home, with their own sweet memories. She never felt alone, as she had her two naughty monsters sonakshi and elena. Sonakshi and elena are sisters, living beside her house. More than their own home, they were mostly in her house as they too loved her so much. Sonakshi just finished her schooling and was waiting for her 12th results and elena just wrote her 10th board exams. They both were very average in studies but were always so mischievous. Their father Bijoy Bose, was always strict to them unlike their mother Asha, who was sweet.
"Dadi, where is Jatin?", Sonakshi asked excitedly. Though Jatin, came to Darjeeling only during his holidays, he's one of her dearest friend. Sonakshi and elena both loved to trouble him a lot and he was no less. There wasn't a single house in Darjeeling that the trio(jatin, sona and elena) haven't troubled. Whenever, Jatin had holidays he made his presence there without any delay. "He is there in his room", Dadi said as sonakshi and elena made their way towards his room.
As they both entered his room, they saw someone, sleeping peacefully covered with duvet from head to toe. Seeing him asleep, Sonakshi smiled mischievously at elena and tiptoed into his room. "How can you sleep peacefully when I'm here?", she said smirking. She took the water jug from the table beside and emptied it on him. Sonakshi and elena started laughing loud clutching their stomach, unaware of the blunder they've created. "Shhhiiitttt!!!", Dev who was sleeping peacefully behind the duvet woke up with a jerk causing the little monsters' laughter to die. "Jatin, you changed completely within a year yaar.. You look so different", elena said approaching towards a fully drenched dev.
"Did I hear my name now?", Jatin asked coming out of the washroom from behind. "Jattuu bhaiyaaa!! ", elena and sonakshi screamed together and jumped on him. "Heyy mirchies.. Get away from me", he said pushing them aside and tried to balance himself. It was always sonakshi and elena's habit to annoy him like that. They both laughed seeing his angry state and felt proud of them. "One minute, if jatin is here, then whom did you wake up?", elena asked turning behind to see an already fuming dev. "What the hell is this?", Dev shouted at the top of his voice and sonakshi turned around panicked. "Oh god, what have you both done to him?", Jatin said looking shocked at Dev. He very well knew that Dev is going to blast on them now. But he didn't have any ways to save them from his anger. "I.. I.. I'm sorrryyyyy", Sonakshi muttered under her breath seeing the angry young man infront of her. Dev eyed her angrily, making her gulp down in fear and walked away murmuring , "Senseless people", which didn't go unnoticed by sonakshi. She too stood there fuming at him while jatin opened his mouth, "You shouldn't have done this sona", he said. "We thought it's you", elena said making a sad pout. "He is Dev. My best friend", he said as sonakshi looked at him unbelievably. He told them a lot about Dev in all these years but the dev he said was not even nearer to the man she saw now. "So, you were lying about Dev all these years to us. He doesn't even look like our type. He is so obhodro", elena said cursing him under her breath. "They should've named him Devil instead of Dev", Sonakshi said eyeing at his retreating figure. Dev took a pause, hearing her words, fuming more.
A small smile crept on Dev's face, reminiscing their memories . He went to shower, dressed up quickly and descended down soon to be treated by the only other person in his huge mansion. "Good morning Dev bhaiya", Kichu, his servent greeted him setting up the table for breakfast. "Good morning Kichu bhaiya", he greeted back with his heart warming smile, as he took his seat. They both settled in Mumbai, just a day back. He was working in Delhi previously. But just got transfered to Mumbai. "Should I pack your lunch?", he asked to which Dev nodded in negation. "No need kichu bhaiya. I'm joining after 2 days only. Today, I'm going to meet my friend, my old friend whom I lost long back", he said smiling dreamily.

In this world, there are haves and have nots. The former are pureblooded humans, some of whom are capable of manipulating qi, the mysterious energy that flows through every living creature, to miraculous results that defy the laws of nature and physics. Wen Feili was one such cultivator. However, she allied with the have nots- the anthropomorphic hybrids incapable of channeling qi-and dabbled in forbidden demonic arts, seeking to change the very composition of reality. This did not end well for her, and she was consumed by her own flames. A decade later, far in the northwestern mountains, her daughter Wen Fengli is working as a lowly servant of the minor Shuangshan sect. In between sweeping the floor and avoiding bullies, she secretly trains with a wooden sword, hoping to become a warrior cultivator at some point in the future. However, since she's part-human, part-wolf, it's just a pipe dream. ....or so she bitterly thought. However, one day a mysterious amulet that belonged to her mother falls into her hands. A deranged old master, a terrible conspiracy, a mysterious past? None of that matters to tomboyish wolfgirl, who only seeks to become stronger. She embarks on a journey of adventure and self-discovery, towards the mysterious southern lands where pure demi-humans are said to live...as spectre of war once again envelops the world of man. This is a Chinese-themed fantasy story set in a fictional world. You can classify it as xianxia, if you wish, but it's a rather low fantasy variant; the heavenly realm is silent, no one reached immortality in generations, and magical artifacts of old are locked away and feared. Magical beasts and spirits have been driven to the corners of civilisation, and "ordinary" abilities such as flying or controlling swords through telekinesis are considered spectacular feats. The main plot of this book revolves around a kemonomimi girl who seeks power, no matter the cost. This story also features multiple character pov, and will not always follow the perspective of the mc- there are two major plotlines, one connected to conspiracy and war ongoing in the political background of the presented world, and the other focusing on the main character's physical and metaphorical journey.
