A/N: I've seen a bit of KRPKAB but I've not seen KYY. Anyways, I'm not well acquainted to the cast/characters of these two shows, and hence I decided to keep the cast/family members of Sonakshi and Manik as it is (i.e The Basus And Sharmas respectively) however since the story is different, the names will be different ofc, but just due to the familiarity I've with kasauti, the cast will remain the same.
Manik's Family:
Dr. Ashok Malhotra(father) Mohini Malhotra(mother), Pooja Malhotra Desai(sister) Anupam Desai(brother in law)
Sonakhi's family:
Pradeep Bose(dad), Aasha Bose,(mom) Kaushik Bose (brother)
Yes I didn't spend a lot of time thinking about the names😂😂🤦

His eyes were scanning the crowded yet discipline room, as he stood with a glass of whiskey in one hand. By the look of it, he was already bored, it had barely been five minutes into this so called party, and he regretted agreeing to come here. His father was was a renowned doctor, he was at the annual meet of doctors all over Mumbai, all physicians, pediatricians, nutritionists, surgeons and so on were present. Every year he managed to make an excuse to stay out of it, but this year his parents had somehow managed to blackmail him into coming. So there he was, bored to death, looking at the crowd of boring people in front of him, listening to the soft music playing in the background. This was not Manik's kind, loud music, people dancing till they drop, people letting their guards down, drunk girls falling into his arms, fancy clubs, that was more of his thing. However if there was one thing common, then that was girls- although sober - but Manik was still the eye candy in the room. Almost every girl in the room had approached him, trying to initiate a conversation...Except one..His eyes stopped their horizontal movement as they came across a girl...with a pretty good height and hair that reached upto her shoulder. She stood there talking to Mohini and Ashok, his parents, and somehow she seemed to be the only one who hadn't tried to come up and talk to Manik. "Hm, interesting, a girl not coming up to Manik Malhotra, not possible", Manik thought to himself. It hurt his 'male ego' to a certain extent, getting girls easily had become a part of his life, a habit he couldn't get enough of. He checked her out completely from head to toe, and thought "Hm looks prettier than most girls who have come up to me, must have come with her parents.." For a change, Manik decided to make the first move and made his way towards his parents and the girl who had managed to catch his attention effortlessly.

He coughed, making his presence known, hoping his father would do all the necessary introduction, and that he did. "Sonakshi, this is Manik Malhotra, my son, and beta this Dr. Sonakshi Bose, she's a nutritionist." Manik raised his eyebrows in surprise turned towards her and said "You're too pretty for a nutritionist." "You're too stereotypical being a doctor's son yourself", came her brazen reply. His mom dad giggled and Ashok told him, "You're not the only filled with sass around here son, I think you'll enjoy catching up, I'll meet the other doctors." Saying so, Mohini and Ashok left Manik and Sonakshi to themselves.
"So...hey, I see you know my parents from before?" Manik enquired. "Yes, actually I met uncle at this meet only, 3-4 years ago, I was the youngest back then, so he was pretty happy about it." Sonakshi answered. "Oh, oh that's great." Manik replied. "So, I'm seeing you for the first time here?" Sonakshi asked. "Ya it's not exactly the place you'd expect Manik Malhotra to be in, a club or bar is more like it. My parents blackmailed me for some reason this time...so here I am.. Lucky you!" ;) Manik explained, winking. Sonakshi replied, "Ya lucky me to be a part of this for the 4th consecutive year!" Manik smiled "You look too sweet to be sassy babe." "You look too smart to make a dumb stereotypical comment right after I gave it back to you!" Sonakshi replied...this was new for Manik, girls tried to be all sweet and quiet and let him take the lead... But this Bose girl returned each of his comments, wrapped in sass and spice. He asked, "Well there's no indirect way to get to you, let's be direct... You didn't notice me before? Or you did, but you liked being chased, so waited for me to make the first move?" "Well I did notice you, and also observed that you were talking to a new girl every 10 minutes.. soo!" Sonakshi answered. "Well because unlike you, all other girls came up to me, and I'm not rude or proud-y, so I spoke to them.." "Cool enough, so did it hurt your male ego that I didn't come up to you"? Manik raised his eyebrows and smirked, went a step closer, and said "Well yes it did...'' He fidgeted with the glass in his hand and said, "Care to share drink with me Ms. Nutritonist? I won't take no for an answer." "Then why bother asking? I'll have a cold-drink.." Sonakshi said. Manik looked at her in surprise, "Too loyal to your profession sweety." "I drink only on my or my parents' birthday." Said Sonakshi, clearing his confusion. Manik shrugged and led the way to the drinks corner. They chatted for a while, Sonakhi learnt that Manik had done MBA, and was working in the marketing department of a bank. Apart from that all they learnt from the chat was they are worlds apart, with absolutely no point of commonality between them. Although, they exchanged numbers, Manik said "Well this was kinda good... But we lack compatibility, soo I guess that nothing is happening." "Well ya, nothing is, so I think initiating the conversation didn't do you any good." Sonakshi said. "Ya but it wasn't a complete waste of time, I survived this boring party!" Manik joked. "Boyy we lack compatibility big time, probably the only thing we agree on." Sonakshi said, before bidding him a goodbye. Manik stopped her and asked, "Can I expect a first call from you?" "Maybe, If that satisfies your male ego" Sonakshi mocked, before leaving.
