《PRISONER CELL BLOCK H EPISODE 693 ONWARDS》Episode 817 - NEW YEAR SPECIAL

Eileen and Ted are in a meeting with a group of people
The meeting looks grim and Eileen looks especially grim and troubled
A female member of the group speaks
Woman - So these are the findings of our investigation. The building did not meet the required standards and many corners had been cut compromising safety. The building was structurally unsafe and built on weak foundations. It was a disaster waiting to happen and it just happened to be an Earthquake that did it. What do you to say on it Mrs Raymond?
Eileen - I still can't believe this, the builders cut so many corners, and that's why the building collapsed? This is shocking, I had no idea
The woman - Well we put it to you that you did know. You were in charge of that entire project, the budget. Nothing went on that you didn't know about, your signature is on every document. It is our belief that you knowingly cut corners in order to spend less money. Now, what do you have to say about that?
Eileen - I say its absolute rubbish of course
A man speaks
The man - But you would say that we hardly expect you to own up to it
The woman - However now really would be the time to come clean Eileen, if you need to tell us anything tell us now
Eileen - Look everything I did I did with good intentions. I placed all my trust in my builders. Ok so I wanted to save a bit of cash, I did suggest to the builders to find the cheapest options, but as long as they were safe. I trusted them and I truly believed that the builders knew what they were doing
The man - So now you admit to knowingly allowing them to cut corners?
Eileen - Well....(hesitates).... yes...but I meant well and I really had no idea anything like this would happen
Ted attacks Eileen suddenly, he is furious
Ted - YOU BLOODY STUPID BITCH, MY DAUGHTER IS DEAD NOW THANKS TO YOU!
Eileen - TED PLEASE, I'M SORRY!
Ted is restrained by the other people
The woman - I must ask you please to behave yourself Mr Ferguson, any more outbursts like that and you will be asked to leave the meeting
Wentworth
Bob is behind his desk as there is a knock at the door
Bob - Come in
Toni enters the room......With Vern beside her. Vern is wearing a Wentworth uniform
Toni - Mr Moran this is Mr Schofield
Bob - Oh yes, I was expecting you today Mr Schofield, please take a seat
Vern - Thank you
Vern sits and holds out a hand to shake
They shake
Toni - I will leave you both to it
Vern - Thank you for giving me a tour and bringing me here officer Williams, I will not forget the favour and when you need one in return I'll be ready and waiting
Toni - It was no bother really, I like to help when I can
Toni leaves the room
Vern - Nice young girl that one
Bob - Yes, Officer Williams is one of my finest officers, she has a great attitude towards the prisoners
Vern - She offered to give me a tour of the prison without me even asking, I was very impressed
Bob - And what did you make of the prison?
Vern - Well it's different to Blackmoor, certainly, it is
Bob - And do you see that as a good thing or a bad thing?
Vern - I don't know yet, it's too early to tell. Ask me again in a week or two and maybe I will be able to give you an answer...I was a bit surprised when I saw the Restaurant though. I may as well be honest and say i'm not sure i approve of that at all
Bob - I cannot see what there is to disapprove of really, it will be an excellent opportunity here
Vern - Well of course you're the governor not i, so I have to go along with it. But I am just being honest, I can't pretend I approve of something when I don't
Bob - I appreciate that I like honesty from my staff
They sit in silence for a second, both seeming unsure where to take the conversation next
Eventually, Vern speaks
Vern - well Mr Moran, here we are eh, working together at last
Bob - How are you feeling about your step down to deputy governor?
Vern - I am not thrilled about it, who would be? But the fact is I don't have a prison to be governor for anymore and they could hardly fire you to make me governor here, that wouldn't be fair. It wasn't your fault Blackmoor fell down
Bob - Yes, quite
Bob sighs and looks troubled
Bob - I may as well be honest with you, I was happy with the deputy governor I had, so I wasn't particularly happy about having to demote her and put you in her place. However one does not argue with orders from one's superiors, so I had no choice but to accept it. I am prepared to work with you and get along, I hope we can get along well
Vern - All fair enough, I understand how you feel. I agree it would be good to work well together and get along
Vera and Toni are together in the staff room
Vera - Have you heard about Meg, Tone?
Toni - No what about her?
Vera - Dennis has taken her to Bali to see in the new year, a special holiday for the two of them
Toni - Oh that's great, she really needs the holiday. She's been through a lot
Vera - I agree, it was long overdue. I am very impressed with Dennis, I think he is the right man for her after having her heart broken by Greg. He seems to treat her very well and I hope this will continue
Toni - Does Bob mind that she went away at short notice?
Vera - I think he had the usual moan about being short-staffed, but really he was as pleased for her as we are. Bob knows what she has been through and he cares about Meg just as much as we do
Toni - I hope she has a great time in Bali and comes back refreshed
Vera looks concerned
Vera - It's how she will cope with having Butler here that worries me. While the break will no doubt do her the world of good, he will still be here when she gets back
Back with the meeting
Eileen - So where do we go from here? Do you report me?
The others in the meeting laugh, apart from Ted
The woman - Don't be silly Eileen, we can cover this up you know that
Eileen- But the families of the dead are demanding answers
The woman - And they will get them...just not the real answers
They exchange a knowing look and smile
Ted is angry
Ted - Hang on here, you are seriously going to allow Eileen off the hook for this?

The man - You object Mr Ferguson?
Ted - You're damn right I object. A lot of people died and among them my daughter
The woman - We understand how you feel but...
Ted cuts her off, anger building up inside him
Ted - You don't know how I feel so don't patronize me. Do you honestly think I am going to sit back and let Eileen get away with this?
The woman - You have no choice in the matter
Ted - I will not work for a department that can cover something like this up
Ted glares at Eileen with contempt
Ted - Or for the woman who killed my daughter
The woman - Than you are free to resign immediately....in fact I will save you the trouble and dismiss you at once
Ted - That's fine, I don't want to work for you bunch of corrupt arseholes a moment longer, but this is not over. I will go to the press about this
The woman - You will not, you will be subject to a gagging order. In any case, we have the power to influence the press about what they can and can't print. They will print the story we give them only and they will not print what you tell them....and even if they did we would say you're lying and angry about your daughter, that you're simply looking for someone to blame and lashing out in revenge
The man - Face it, Mr. Ferguson, you can't win
Ted stands up
Ted - Pack of mongrels the lot of you!
Ted starts to leave but Eileen looks like she has a tinge of regret and remorse
Eileen - Ted wait...
Ted - Go to hell!
Ted storms out
Eileen calls after him
Eileen - Ted please, I'm sorry, I didn't think anything like this would ever happen!
Ted is gone
Eileen - Poor man, I feel so bad about it
The woman - What is done is done and the best thing we can do now is cover this up and move on
Eileen - What will we do about the overcrowding this has caused at the other prisons?
The woman - Some of the short term prisoners, minor offenders, and those who were near the end of their sentences anyway, will be released on early parole, this will ease it a little
Eileen - But it won't solve the problem in the long run
The woman - That's why building work will start soon .....
Eileen - To rebuild Blackmoor?
The woman - Not exactly...
The staffroom
Sue is there as Bob arrives with Vern
Bob - Sue I'm glad you're here, I wanted to introduce you to Vern, the new deputy governor
Sue looks at Vern, a slight bitterness in her expression
Sue - Hello...
Vern - Mr Moran told me that you lost your position as deputy to make way for me?
Sue - Yes, that's right
Vern - I am very sorry about that, I know what a slap in the face that must have felt like
Sue - Not your fault is it, the department made the decision
Vern - But I still feel bad about it
Sue - No need, I'll get over it. Nice to meet you, I will see you later
Sue leaves the staff room, leaving Bob and Vern alone
Vern - Poor woman, I can tell it really bothers her
Bob - Sue is professional, she will deal with it in a professional way
A couple of familiar faces from Blackmoor are waiting in Reception, in uniforms
Officers Owens and Shelby
Officer Owens - It certainly looks less intimidating here anyway compared to Blackmoor, the grounds in fact are rather pleasant
Officer Shelby - Still got barbed wire fences around it and bars on the windows though
Officer Owens - True
Sue arrives
Sue - Good morning, you must be the two officers we have been expecting from Blackmoor?
Officer Owens - Yes, that's right
Sue - Then allow me to welcome you both to Wentworth...I will give you a tour and then you will meet the governor...and later on the Wentworth prisoners
Office Owens - That will be wonderful, I can't wait to get stuck in!
Officer Shelby - I am not looking forward to being reunited with a few familiar faces from Blackmoor though
Officer Owens - Well I'm sure a few of them went to Woodridge, we will just have to wait to find out which ones came here and which didn't
The Recroom
The women are there as Spider and a particularly smug-looking Madge arrive wearing their civvies
They are accompanied by Toni
Toni - Ok you two, you have two minutes to say goodbye
Sasha - Goodbye? What is this?
Spider - We're being released early along with some other prisoners to ease the overcrowding
Madge - Yeah, good ain't it
Ros has a face like thunder as Madge strolls across the room to her with a smug grin
Madge - Pity you won't get a chance to take revenge on me now right Coulson....still perhaps if you hadn't been so slow about it you would have got there by now
Madge chuckles
Madge - Seeya around eh Coulson!
Madge strolls out of the room
Ros is shaking with rage
Ros - That bloody bitch!
Sasha is with Spider
Sasha - Shame to see you go just as we were starting to reach an understanding. I don't think you're half as bad as you want people to believe you are. Try and be a bit nicer to people and let those walls down a bit and you might find that people like you and your life will be happier
Spider - Yeah well don't get carried away alright Cartwright....just cos we had that chat and I told you the truth about Winter it don't mean nothing really. I am still the same as I ever was and I really am just a bitch and that's the way I like it!
Spider leaves and Sasha watches her go with a chuckle and shake of the head
Sasha - I must be going mad, I might actually miss that bitch Spider
Ros - Why would you miss that frizzy-haired cow?
Sasha - There are worse around here than her
She glances in Abigail's direction
Sasha - And I don't think she is as bad as she makes out underneath. Also, she actually made me laugh sometimes with some of her sarcasm
Ros - I am damn mad to see Cummings waltz out of here. Hopefully, she will blow it and be back in no time, then I will fix her. Damn it why did I leave it so long to get her?
Vern is having a coffee in the staff room as Lee joins him
Lee smiles at him
Lee - Hi, Mr Schofield right?
Vern - Hello young man, yes i am Mr Schofield
Lee - Hello there, I am officer Bailey
Vern - Pleased to meet you son
They shake hands
Lee - Shocking business, the collapse I mean
Vern - Indeed yes, I was inside the place at the time you know
Lee looks stunned
Lee - No never! You must have been terrified
Vern - Yes I was. I expect the inquest to provide some answers to this
Lee - I expect the Raymond woman cut corners, she seems the type
Vern- Know her do you?
Lee- No, but her reputation proceeds her
Vern - You are right, she was behind it and I hope the inquest exposes her so that she can be hung for it!
Lee - Erm... Mr Schofield, I need to ask you something
Vern - Yes go-ahead
Lee pauses and looks reluctant
Lee - It's about Blackmoor
Vern - Yes, go ahead son...
Lee - One of the prisoners, Lorraine Dawson, told me something disturbing about that place
Vern sips his coffee and keeps his cool
Vern - Really? So what exactly did she tell you, son?
Lorraine is in her cell as Sasha arrives in the room
Sasha - G'day Lorraine, I thought it was time to have a chat
Lorraine - Yeah, how cozy for us
Sasha - I'll be honest, I am not thrilled that they sent you back here but the fact is they did so we're all stuck with each other...but we are still pretty disgusted about it all
Lorraine - Well my daughter is dead so there is little need for you to make an issue over it now
Sasha - We can't just forget it like it never occurred either
Lorraine - Your problem not mine. I don't give a toss about any of you. All I'm concerned about is finding out which one of you killed my daughter. I'm glad they sent me back here so I can do some detective work
Sasha - Who says anyone killed her, we were told she killed herself
Lorraine - Yeah well I don't believe that, my Han wasn't the type to commit suicide
Lorraine gets off her bed and walks towards Sasha
Lorraine - You're the top dog here, if I find out that you were the one, or that you ordered it or knew about it I will have you for it
Sasha - Don't threaten me, Dawson, I don't like that
Lorraine - I don't care what you do or don't like, I lost my daughter and I intend to get to the truth
Lorraine is suddenly overcome with emotion and starts to cry
Lorraine - Whatever you think of me I did love my daughter and losing my child has hit me hard. I haven't even had time to grieve for her properly because they sent me to that hell hole and I had to focus on staying alive there
Sasha sighs and looks sorry for Lorraine
Sasha - Look maybe there is something I should tell you...
Back with Vern and Lee
Vern roars with laughter and slaps Lee on the back
Vern - You didn't believe any of it did you?
Lee - Well I don't know, she sounded convincing
Vern - She is a good actress
Lee - So none of it is true?
Vern - Of course, it isn't...its the biggest pile of crap I have ever heard, medical experiments indeed! How ridiculous
Lee - She even claimed that an inmate died
Vern shakes his head and laughs a bit more
Vern - The woman is a fantasist!....listen have you told anyone else about this?
Lee - Not yet, I knew you were coming here today so I wanted to wait to talk to you first
Vern - It's a load of bullshit son, really. Not worth repeating to anyone else
Lee - Yes I thought it probably was, but I wanted to talk to you about it anyway, put my mind at ease
Vern - I understand son, but best not to tell anyone else, people don't like having their time wasted with this sort of nonsense
Lee - I won't Mr Schofield, you have put my mind at ease, and that's the end of it as far as I'm concerned
Vern - A tip for you son, take everything any prisoner ever says to you with a very large tablespoon full of salt
Lee - Yes, my mother said a similar thing
Back with Sasha and Lorraine
Sasha - So I'm not not saying Freestone did it, all I'm saying is that she was the only one who could have done it if Hannah was murdered. Everyone else was in the Recroom
Lorraine- Are you sure of this?
Sasha - Of course, I am.....among the inmate's no one else could have done it, we all had alibi's
Lorraine - And what about the screws? One of them could have done it too, who among them didn't have an alibi?
Sasha - Oh I couldn't even start with them, that's a lot more possibilities
Lorraine - Well I'll start with Freestone
Sasha - What exactly are you planning to do?
Lorraine - Make investigations that's all, try and find out if she did it
Sasha - And if you discover that she did, what will you do then?
Lorraine looks angry
Lorraine - Honestly? I haven't thought that far ahead yet
