Exterior shot of Toni's flat
Toni and Sandra are sat eating breakfast, both wearing their Wentworth uniforms
Sandra - I still think you should consider getting a new kitchen, but I will respect your decision if you don't want to have one
Toni - Sandra I really don't want one, I like my kitchen as it is
Sandra - Fair enough, I will just have to accept it then. I don't want to push you into anything
Toni - Sometime soon I will have to replace that wallpaper you put up too because I really hate it
Sandra smiles and tries to hide her anger
Sandra - Oh fair enough love, I will help you with that. After all, it was all my fault!
Sandra chuckles
Sandra - Help you pick something you actually like and help you put it up I mean of course, not pick it for you this time!
Toni - Yes thanks I would appreciate that
Sandra - I am so sorry I picked wallpaper you hated. At the time I was so sure I was doing the right thing and so sure that you would like it, I can see how I was wrong! But I don't mind at all!
Sandra drinks her coffee and looks angry
Wentworth
Kelly is surrounded by the women, being held tightly by Judy, Lorna, and Ronnie
Kelly - Just let me go will you, you pack of bitches!
Bea - Not until you tell us the truth about Cassie
Judy -Yeah come on Webster, you didn't touch her did you. Come on just admit it, it was Clements and you're covering for her
Kelly - I am not covering for her, I did it and that's the truth
Bea grabs Kelly and twists her arm up her back
Kelly struggles as Judy, Lorna and Ronnie hold her tighter
Bea - Bull....now are you going to try telling us the truth this time...OR DO I NEED TO BREAK YOUR ARM?
Kelly - If you know then why do you even need me to tell you?
Bea - Because I want to hear it from you, your side of it... now tell me!
Kelly - Ok!...ok I lied to cover for her. Now let go of my arm Smith
Bea lets go
Bea - Ok now we're finally getting somewhere. Next question Webster! Why did you lie for her?
Kelly - Because she asked me to
Bea (sarcastic) - Yes I had figured that out for myself!....why would you do it is what I want to know? What is in it for you?
Kelly - She is going to help me become the top dog. We both want rid of you Smith so that we can run this place together. I think that when the time comes, Clements and I will make a superb team I really do
Bea - It's never going to happen, not while I'm around
Kelly - Yes, it will happen. Clements and I are the future of this place, me as top dog her as governor. We will make a truly formidable team
Bea - Over my dead body!
Kelly grins
Kelly - Yes, exactly! That's exactly what we want, you dead!
Bea - Now you can come along and tell Mr. Moran all this
Kelly - Erm no, I don't think so somehow!
Bea - Oh I do....because you see you really have no choice. Either you tell Moran the truth or every woman in this place will be out to get you
Judy - That's right honey, your life won't be worth living
Advertisement
Bea - It will be an absolute misery, every minute of every day
Lorna - We all know you're pretty tough, or at least you think you are, but how tough are you with every woman in the place after you?
Bea - That's right. No matter how tough you are you can never win against a whole group of us
Kath - What is happening here right now proves that point. Together we all overpowered you easily and we can do that again any time we like
Judy - That's right, any time we like and you won't know when or where it might happen
Bea - That's right, it could happen at any time, and next time maybe we'll hurt you badly
Kelly - OH ALRIGHT! ALRIGHT BITCHES YOU WIN! I'LL TELL MORAN THE TRUTH
Judy pats her on the back
Judy - Good gal, we knew you'd see sense!
Bea -Just to make sure you tell him the whole truth I will come in with you when you see him
Kath - She'd better leave out the bit about us forcing the truth out of her
Bea - Yes you're right Kath, that could look bad. We don't want anyone getting the wrong idea and thinking we bullied you into making it up or anything, you understand?
Kelly nods her head
Bea - Good, we'll go and see Moran now...come on
The women leave the cell, marching Kelly along
Blackmoor
A van pulls into the yard and Marina and Vern are waiting as the prisoner is let out. The prisoner is Geoff
The governor's office
Joan is at her desk as there is a knock at the door
Joan - Come in...
Marina enters
Marina - The new prisoner Renner has arrived
Joan - Has he had his induction?
Marina - Vern is giving it to him as we speak
Joan - Excellent. Now was there anything else?
Marina - No, nothing
Joan - Before you go I should tell you that Meg Morris will be returning today
Marina looks surprised
Marina- This soon? Is she ready for it after her ordeal?
Joan - I have no idea, but I will of course talk to her about that when she gets here
Marina - Is she aware that Renner is here?
Joan - No and I don't intend to tell her, at least not yet anyway
Marina - How will you keep it from her?
Joan - It's simple, I will organize it so that she is never rostered on his block for the time being. Eventually, when I feel she is ready to know about it I will tell her, but not until I am totally sure she is ready to handle it. I will expect yourself and the other staff to keep it from her that he is here also
Marina - Of course, I understand governor. What a caring governor you are looking after the welfare of your staff in this way!
Bea and Kelly are with Bob
Bob - So what can I do for you two ladies this morning?
Bea - Kelly has something she needs to tell you Mr Moran, and she asked me to come along for moral support. What she has to tell you is extremely serious
Bob looks at Kelly
Bob - What do you need to tell me, Webster? I'm listening
Kelly sits head bowed, looking extremely reluctant to speak
Bea - Go on love tell him, don't be afraid. You're doing the only thing you can do, the right thing, you know that
Vern is in Blackmoor's reception as Inspector Thorne arrives
Advertisement
Thorne - Good morning
Vern - Good morning, how can I help you?
Thorne flashes his ID badge
Thorne - I'm here to interview one of your new arrivals, Mr Renner
Meg is in the office with Joan
Joan - So I need to ask you if you are sure you're up for being here right now?
Meg - I'm up for it, of course, I am
Joan - We all know you had a terrible ordeal, it was all over the news. No one here would blame you if you felt you needed more time to recover
Meg is frosty
Meg - I said I can handle it and that's final. What happened is over now, its time to get on with it
Joan - Well I had a duty to ask, you know that
Meg - Yes I know....but let's not pretend you have my welfare at heart. You couldn't give a damn about me
Joan - True....but while I am the governor of this prison I will not have any officers here who can't handle it. It does not look good for the prison or me as governor. So you just make damn sure you really are ready to be here because the first sign you aren't I will order you to take further leave
Meg nods her head and rolls her eyes
Meg - Yes I see, I might have known it all came down to you protecting yourself and your position as governor
Joan smirks
Joan - Of course ......now you may get to work and remember I am keeping an eye on you just to make sure you are coping and not letting me down
Meg glares angrily at Joan for a moment before getting up and marching out of the office
Kelly - So that's it, Clements hurt Cassie, I just lied for her in return for favours
Bea - I can also confirm that the last any of us saw of Cassie before she got hurt was Clements taking her from the Recroom claiming there was a mess needing to be cleaned up in solitary
Bob looks grim
Bob - I see....this is very serious
Bob looks sternly at Kelly
Bob - Lying to the police like this is a very serious offense, Webster, it can carry some pretty stiff penalties
Kelly sneers
Kelly - Oh gee, I'm really worried ain't i...
Bob - I suppose I should acknowledge the fact that you did the right thing eventually, it shows you must have some sort of conscience after all Webster
Kelly (sarcastic tone) - I'm all heart Mr Moran, no one forced me, I simply decided I must do the right thing
Bea rolls her eyes
Thorne is with Geoff in a windowless interview room
Geoff (hostile)- What do you want?
Thorne (jovial) - Just a nice little chat Renner!
Geoff - Well try and be quick about it will you, the less I have to do with women, wogs, and pigs the better!
Thorne - It's regarding the statement you gave to my colleague Inspector Rouse regarding Sonia Stevens
Geoff - I said all I was prepared to say on that matter...
Thorne - But it would help us if we could locate the body, I'm sure you understand?
Geoff - I can't remember where I buried her and that's that
Thorne - Come on now Renner, don't insult our intelligence! You would know where you buried someone, it's not the type of thing you forget
Geoff - Well on this occasion I have forgotten....it was in the middle of the bush, lots of tree bushes, undergrowth. One tree looks much the same as another
Thorne - Well maybe if you could give us a rough idea of which area it was that might help? We can look for any patches of disturbed ground then
Geoff - Can't help sorry
Thorne - You know some of us down the station are beginning to wonder if you even murdered her at all Mr Renner. Right now she is down under fate unknown. She is regarded as a missing person rather than a murder victim
At Wentworth Vera and Janice are with Richard in his office
Vera - This is ridiculous, we can't all hide in here all morning
Janice - It's just until Sue rings through from reception to let us know Grace has arrived to arrest her. Once we know she's safely out of the building we can go about our business
Janice looks at the clock on the wall
Janice - It shouldn't be too much longer now
Vera - Well I'm not afraid to face her!
Janice - Nor am I, but it's better if we don't. We did our bit, let the police handle it from here
Richard - I still can't believe she went that far. When Janice told me last night I was shocked
Vera - Well I can believe it. I can believe anything of her
Richard - Has there been any change in Cassie's condition at all?
Vera shakes her head sadly
Vera - So far none
Vern is showing Geoff into his windowless cell
Geoff - This place really is a dump. I've seen sewer rats living in better conditions than this
Vern - Get used to it, it's going to be your home for quite some years
Geoff - Thrilling!
Vern - How was the visit with Thorne?
Geoff - Irritating, bloody irritating
Vern - Did you give him the information he wanted to know?
Geoff - What do you think? He's a pig and I don't help the pigs. I hate them all
Vern - I suppose you hate screws too?
Geoff -You're damn right I do!
Vern - Well guess what, I hate convicts so the feelings mutual! And out there you might have been the big man waving your guns and bombs around, but in here we're in charge and you're nothing. Nothing but a worthless convict! These walls are your future now, you will never see the light of day again, except from behind a barbed-wire fence
Geoff - Have you finished?
Vern - For now yes
Geoff - Nice little speech. But if you're hoping to break me I hope you're ready for the challenge because I don't break easily. I don't scare easily either, I'm sure there are plenty of little boys in here who wet themselves every time they hear your footsteps on the landing, but if you're hoping I will be one of them you'll be in for a disappointment
Vern - That's what you say now. But things can change soon enough. I saw plenty of men just like you back in Colorado, come in thinking they are indestructible, a few years down the line they are nervous wrecks crying for their mothers.
Geoff - I'm sure, but that won't happen to me
Vern - They didn't think it could happen to them either
Sue is behind the reception desk at Wentworth as Grace arrives
Grace- Good morning Mrs Bailey
Sue looks relieved to see him
Sue - Thank god you're here at last
Grace - Is she here yet?
Sue - Yes she is, she arrived around fifteen minutes ago
The reception phone rings
Sue - Hold on one moment, I just need to get that
Sue picks up the phone
Sue - Reception, Officer Bailey speaking?....
......Bob is on the other end from his office
Bob - Can you ring out for Inspector Grace please Sue, I have new and important information for him on the Cassie McDonald case. It seems Webster was not the culprit after all...
Sue - Grace is already here in the building right now
Bob looks surprised
Bob - Really? I wasn't expecting him today
Sue - No, he is here to deal with another incident, one which involves Mrs. Clements and which we were going to come and tell you about. I think perhaps I had better bring him to your office now
Bob - Yes I think perhaps you had, I'll see you in a minute
Bob puts the phone down and sits looking intrigued
GATESLAM
PART 2
Sue and Grace are with Bob in the office
Grace - So that's the situation. I am here to arrest Clements for trying to run down Miss Bennett last night. Mrs Bailey here was a witness along with Miss Bennett
Bob looks stunned and looks at Sue
Bob - Are you sure that she was trying to hit her?
Sue - Oh there is no doubt. Jan and I saw it with our own two eyes, she drove straight at her and only missed her by a second. There is no way it was an accident. she was aiming right for her
Bob - How incredible...
Sue - If Jan and I hadn't been there to warn Vera I think she would be dead now
Bob - Did Sandra know you were there?
Sue - I don't think so, I can't be sure if she noticed us. She acted normal with me when I saw her earlier
Grace - You had something you wanted to tell me to Mr Moran?
Bob - Oh yes.....this concerns Clements too. Webster is now claiming that Clements was the one who attacked McDonald and Webster merely covered for her
Grace - My my, it does seem as though our Mrs Clements has been a busy girl doesn't it
Bob - I think we'd better go and find her
Grace - My thoughts exactly
The three of them leave the office
Vera, Janice, and Richard are still in his office as Sandra bursts in without knocking
She looks surprised to see Vera and Janice while Vera, Janice, and Richard all look extremely uncomfortable to see her
Sandra smiles pleasantly at Vera and Janice
Sandra - There you both are! I wondered why I couldn't find you! What are you doing in here with Richard?
Vera - Just having a chat that's all, is that ok with you?
Sandra - Sure, but maybe I should remind you that you are both supposed to be working, not sitting around for a friendly chat
Janice - Vera had a nasty experience last night Sandra, she needed time for a chat. Richard and I felt we could help her
Sandra acts like she has no idea what happened
Sandra - Oh Vera love, do tell me what happened? Maybe I can help too!
Janice - We thought perhaps you might already know what it was!
Sandra shakes her head and looks confused
Sandra - How would I know Janice dear? I am not a mind reader, am I!
Sandra looks at Vera as if examining her carefully
Sandra - I must say you don't look well though Miss Bennett! You look like someone has just walked over your grave!
Janice (under her breath) - Or tried to run her down in a car!
Sandra tilts her head towards Janice and gives a little smile
Sandra - I didn't quite catch that! You were whispering dear, you need to speak up a bit!
Janice - It wasn't important
Vera - Yes well I think perhaps it's time to get on with some work now!
Vera rushes out of the office, followed by Janice
Sandra remains behind with a sly smirk on her face
Sandra - I'm glad they left Richard, I was hoping to have a chat, just the two of us
Vera rushes up the corridor with Janice
Vera - DAMN HER!..... I thought I could face her but she freaked me out in there
Janice - Well that's understandable. She tried to kill you last night. Seeing the person they know tried to kill them would freak anyone out
Vera - Where the hell is Grace? I won't relax until that woman has been taken away!
Janice - Look I'm sure he won't be much longer Vera, really
Back with Richard and Sandra
Richard - I have nothing to say to you, I don't want you near me
Sandra - Oh but we must talk about our marriage
Richard - There is no marriage now, it's over for good. The sooner I get a divorce from you the better
Sandra - I was hoping you may have mellowed out a bit by now, but I can see not
Richard - Mellowed out a bit?....what planet are you on woman? My son is in prison for life thanks to you
Sandra - Look I told you enough times that I had nothing to do with it...Darren made his own choices
Richard - Just get out damn you!
Sandra tries to stroke his face, but he turns his face away
Sandra - Oh Richard...
Richard- GET OUT!
Sandra - FINE! HAVE IT YOU WAY YOU STUPID, STUBBORN, FOOLISH MAN, BUT DON'T EVER SAY I DIDN'T TRY!
Sandra turns to leave and finds Bob, Grace, and Sue standing in the doorway
Grace - Good morning Mrs Clements
Sandra - Yes good morning...
Sandra tries to leave as Grace blocks her path
Sandra - I wonder if you would be so kind as to allow me to get past, please?
Grace - No I'm afraid I can't do that. You see I am going to have to ask you to accompany me down to the station to answer a few questions
Sandra keeps her cool
Sandra - What are these questions about?
Grace - I think it would be better if we waited until we were at the station, don't you?
Sandra - Well in that case I'd be only too happy to accompany you, I don't have anything important to do right now.....well shall we go?
Sandra coolly strolls out to the corridor

The Harrowbird's Crown
(Formerly: Tales of a Harrowed House) Synopsis: This is the tale of an exiled royal family who, after their bloody reunion on the island of Providence, return to a war-torn homeland where once more, powerful forces pit sibling against sibling in a bid for the crown — and once more, the magical streets of Auctor echo their infamous motto: “Fire will Reign as Harrowbirds Soar!” From his humble beginnings as a shoemaker’s son, his year spent as a daringly brazen orphan caught between rivaling Houses and a mad ghost, and his fight for the crown after his return to Auctor, Corbyn faces a coming-of-age story unlike any before him as he discovers magic and birthright are two things he never knew he had. From the intimate narrative of a childhood that was never her own, her year spent struggling to find the person she is rather than the person her family needs her to be, the secrets she hides, and the truths she finds, Halle discovers herself on the fabled island of Providence as her House collapses around her, bids to enter a legendary school of magic in her homeland of Auctor, and fights for a crown she never knew she wanted. A high-action, character-focused story written with a poet’s styling, The Harrowbird’s Crown is a tale that will transport readers into the conflict and conquest of a royal family back on the rise. General Information: This story is more traditionally plotted. While the beginning may seem to start out slowly, when shit hits the fan: the action is constant, the mysteries are satisfying, and the character development is rewarding. Chapters are usually between 2.5-3.5 thousand words (though some, like the first and second chapters, can run up to 5k words). When it’s long it means that the chapter will just have that much content in it. There’s Action, Mystery, Fantasy, Comedy, and some Psychological undertakings. Romance hasn’t come up yet, but it may in future chapters. I try to have chapters out every Sunday at 7:00 CST Book One: The Ghost of Providence
