Janice and Richard are in a cafe drinking coffee
Richard - Doesn't that woman understand that my son is going to prison for the rest of his life? How can she be so happy about Dwyer's death?
Janice - Wendy was being a selfish bitch darling. Only thinking about herself and the fact that she now has his fortune
Richard - Well I wish she had kept her feelings to herself, seeing her so happy made it even worse
Janice - I know, she is really not worth getting upset over. Let's forget about her and focus on helping Darren now
Richard - Well what can we do to help him now? The judge has made his decision
Janice - There is always the option to appeal, we can encourage Darren to go down that route
Richard - You reckon that will offer some hope for him?
Janice - Well there's a chance isn't there, it's worth trying anyway
Richard - It's not as if my boy has anything else to lose now is it? He got the maximum sentence
Janice - Exactly. We have to try, he can't lose anything and can only gain a reduced sentence with some luck
The solicitor's office
Grace puffs on a cigarette and looks grave
Grace - This is a problem, it won't be bloody easy to resolve this. we are all aware of how dangerous Butler is
Jim - Yes well frankly I am disgusted that he was allowed to walk free after what he did to my wife and sons
Grace - Well that decision had nothing to do with me Mr Fletcher, I don't like the idea of men like Butler walking free any more than you do
Jim - So you have no idea how to get them back safely? That's not very bloody encouraging is it
Grace - I'm thinking ok, I'm bloody thinking
Jim - I hope this thinking won't be going on too long. I need to hear a plan soon before I go mad. This is making me sick with worry
Toni is banging on the door of the pantry
Toni - LET ME OUT SANDRA! PLEASE!
The flat is empty
Sue is behind the governor's desk as there is a knock at the door
Sue - Come in
Sandra enters
Sue - Good morning Mrs Clements
Sandra - Good morning, I came for a quick word...
Sue - I'm glad you came to see me, i wanted to talk to you too. I wanted to make sure there are no hard feelings about me getting the deputy governor position
Sandra delivers a sweet smile
Sandra - Of course, not Sue, I realize it's not your fault. It was all Eileen's decision and we must respect her choices mustn't we
Sue - Still I realize it was a blow for you
Sandra - Rubbish, I don't mind at all!
Sue - Ok I'm glad.....well what was it you wanted to see me about?
Sandra - It's about Toni, she wanted me to tell you that she has decided to resign
Sue looks shocked
Sue - Resign? That's a bit sudden, isn't it? She always seemed so happy in her job
Sandra - She said something about wanting a change. The job wears her out, its too much hard work for her
Sue - She always seemed to cope well enough to me
Sandra sighs with irritation
Sandra - Oh well all I can do is pass on the message anyway!
Sue - Why can't Toni tell me herself?
Sandra - Because she asked me to do it...
Sue - I know but why? I would prefer to hear it from her herself
Sandra - Does it really matter?
Sue - Yes it does to me, i will have to ring her
Sandra - Ring her? why?
Sue - Because I want to hear it from her, I will feel better that way
Sue picks her phone up
Sue - I will call her now
Sandra - Oh she won't be there, she has gone away for a while
Sue - Gone away?
Sandra - Yes that's right, she needed a holiday
Sue - And does she not care that she is supposed to give notice? We are short-staffed enough as it is without this
Sandra chuckles
Sandra - Well I did try to point this out to her but she wouldn't have it!
Sue looks annoyed
Sue - How inconsiderate! It's just not good enough!
Back with Jim and Grace
Grace - We'll have to set a trap for Butler, catch him
Jim - Set a trap how?
Grace- Next time you go to meet him to hand him some more money, you won't be taking any cash. Instead, we will be coming along and once there we will arrest him, take him in for questioning and make him tell us where the hostages are
Jim shakes his head
Jim - That won't work, Geoff will never reveal where the hostages are. He would rather die than give in like that
Grace - He will have no choice once we start interrogating him, believe me, my men can be pretty bloody persuasive when they need to be
Jim - No it's too dangerous. Butler told me that he has an accomplice. He says that if he doesn't return within an hour of meeting me he has left the accomplice instructions to kill them all
Grace- He's probably lying...
Jim - He might not be, is it worth taking the risk?
Grace - We have to try and rescue them somehow, have you got any better bloody ideas?
Jim shakes his head with despair
Jim - I was so sure Bob could rescue them. If anyone could do it it would have been Bob
Grace - Yes, well that plan was bloody stupid. That's what happens when you try and deal with psychopaths like Butler on your own without help from us
Jim - Well I don't like your idea at all, I say its too risky
Grace - I say it's the only bloody option there is....my men will get him to reveal their location, he will be left with no choice but to cooperate
Jim - And what happens if his accomplice really does have instructions to kill them within an hour?
Grace - Then we will have to make sure we get the information out of him within ten minutes of catching him won't we
Jim - I don't like it.....
Grace - I don't bloody like it either but what else can we do?
Richard and Janice arrive at Wentworth where Vera is in reception
Vera - Good morning
Janice - Morning Vera
Vera - How did it go in court?
Richard tries to answer but ends up shaking his head and bursting into tears
Janice takes him in her arms and kisses him on the forehead
Janice - That's it darling, have a good cry, that will help you feel a little better
Janice turns to Vera
Janice - It was very bad news Vera, young Darren got life with no parole
Vera gasps with shock
Vera -No parole? That's an unusual sentence, especially for one so young. I really did think he would have a chance for parole after 30 years or something
Advertisement
Janice - We all thought that
Vera - I'm very sorry Richard, really I am
Richard sobs
Richard - Seeing him in that dock like that, I just wanted to take him home and make everything alright again. I wish this had never happened, I want my son back home!
Janice - Come on, we'll have another coffee in the staff room
Richard tries to pull himself together
Richard - No I need to get to work
Janice - Work can wait, come on Sue won't mind will she
They leave the reception. Vera watches them go with a look of genuine concern on her face
Back with Jim and Grace
Grace- Next time he calls take the call as usual. Pretend everything is normal and you have more cash for him. Agree to meet him again, as usual, that's all you have to do. After that, we'll do the rest
Jim - What if he sees you before you get a chance to catch him? What if he sees you before he has even switched his engine off? He will take off again the second he does...
Grace - We will be in position, well hidden long before he arrives. All we need is the details from you on the location and we will be there in advance before you arrive
Jim - You have it all planned don't you
Grace - Of course. I want to catch that bastard as much as you do and get the hostages to safety
Jim - I wish I felt as confident as you do about this working
Grace - Well we have to make it work because there aren't any other options. Attempting to follow him back is too risky as he may see us, we have to catch him there and make him tell us
Jim - And what about this accomplice? Even if Geoff does tell us, he will be there waiting when you arrive at the location
Grace - It's possible he is lying about the accomplice, but if he does exist we will just take him by surprise. We have to hope he isn't as sharp or as dangerous as Butler is
Jim - I doubt he is, few people would be as dangerous as Butler
Grace - There you go then, the accomplice is unlikely to pose much of a threat
Jim - But you still have to get Butler to reveal the location
Grace - And he will trust me
Jim looks dubious and extremely worried
Vera is with Sue in the office
Vera - So I thought I should let you know that Mr Clements is in a state
Sue - Yes thanks Vera, poor man
Vera - Why on earth he came in today I don't know. He would be better off staying at home today in the state he is in
Sue - I will go and speak to him later, let him know that he can go home if he needs to
Vera - Yes, well I had best get back to my typing
Sue - Oh before you go i wanted to tell you something
Vera - Oh?...
Sue - Yes, Mrs Clements came to tell me that Toni has resigned. Did you know anything about this?
Vera looks shocked
Vera - Resigned? No, this is the first I've heard of it. Tone has always been happy in her job here
Sue - Yes that's what I thought too, but Clements has handed in her resignation on her behalf
Vera - Why wouldn't Tone hand it in herself? It seems odd she'd leave it to Clements to do it for her
Sue shrugs
Sue - I thought it was odd too, but why would Clements lie? Toni must have decided to resign and couldn't face telling me herself
Vera - I will have to call in to see her later. Have you tried talking to her?
Sue - No, that's the other thing. I wanted to talk to her but Clements says she has gone away on holiday
Vera - Well again she said nothing to me about a holiday! This doesn't add up at all
Janice and Richard are in Richards office
Janice - Are you sure you'll be alright here on your own?
Richard - Yes Jan, I'll be fine. I have lots of work to be getting stuck into
Janice - I can stay a while if you need me to
Richard - Don't be silly, you have work to do. You can't stay in here with me all-day
Janice - Well Bailey isn't likely to get heavy with me over it, she's a bit of a soft touch
Richard - No please, I will be fine. I have plenty of prisoners to see today
Janice - Well if you should need me come and find me
Richard nods his head
Richard - I will...thank you so much for all your support this morning. I don't know how I would have coped without you
Janice - Well if I can't support my boyfriend when he needs me then what use would I be?
Jim is back home with Cheryl
Cheryl - So what did Grace suggest?
Jim - He wants to catch Geoff next time I go to meet him and make him reveal where he is hiding them
Cheryl looks surprised
Cheryl - Did you tell him how risky that could be? The threats he made? His claim to have an accomplice?
Jim - of course, I did, he was adamant that this was the only option and that it would work
Cheryl - Hell.....
Jim - Well you were the one who wanted the police involved
Cheryl - I know, but I thought they would have something more subtle than this in mind
Jim - Yes well I hate the idea, but I am beginning to think that as dangerous as it is it might be the only option really...anyway how was Alicia while I was gone?
Cheryl - Quiet, won't talk to me. Just sits and sulks
Jim - I hope she stays like that for now, at least she won't cause us too much hassle that way. Until we have resolved this I can't spend time worrying about her
Cheryl - Yes but once this is all over you really will have to sit down with her and talk
Jim - Yes I know
There is a knock at the door
Jim - Oh god, I hope it isn't bloody Ron!
Jim goes to the door. Judith is at the door
Judith - Well good morning, I came to see how my little Alicia is today......
GATESLAM
PART 2
Judith is in the lounge with Jim and Cheryl
Judith - Well where is she?
Cheryl - She is in her room
Judith looks horrified
Judith - You have left her in her room on her own? Oh the poor little thing, she has just lost her mother!
Cheryl - She doesn't want to talk to Jim or me right now
Judith - So that does not mean it's ok to leave her alone, especially not at a time like this. Go and fetch her for me at once, please. I must see if she is ok!
Cheryl leaves the room
Judith shakes her head at Jim
Judith - You should be ashamed of yourself! The child has just lost her mother and all you can do is leave her alone in her room! You're her father, it's your job to look after her now!
Jim - Look I will but I can't right now. I have an important thing to deal with
Judith looks outraged
Judith - What could be more important than your own daughter?
Jim - I can't tell you but trust me it is important
Judith - You're a disgrace! I know you're cheating on this Kath person with that girl Cheryl. I suppose that's what you regard as more important than your own daughter! Well, it's disgusting and I have a good mind to tell the Kath person about it when she comes back!
Jim is struggling to keep his cool
Jim - Look I am not having an affair with Cheryl!
Judith - Of course you are, all men are the same. Cheat the first chance they get and Shirley told me you were one of the worst!
Cheryl returns with Alicia
Cheryl - See, I told you nanny was here!
Alicia runs into Judith's arms
Judith - My little darling! Are these bad people neglecting you?....well not to worry. I'm here now!
Bea is with Janice
She hands out another photo of Jacqueline for Janice
Bea - I want you to put this in Sandra's locker for me. It's better you do it, I can't risk being seen in the staff room
Janice nods her head
Janice - Yes of course Smith, I'll do it
Bea - As of today the women will be ignoring Clements. When she gives orders and so on, we will just ignore her. This is easier to do now that she is an officer again and not the acting governor
Janice - Yes, good old Eileen eh. I did not expect her to demote Clements like that
Bea - Yes she did something good for a change when she did that
Janice - She won't like being ignored, she will feel she is losing the control she craves so much
Bea smirks
Bea - That's the whole point. Ignoring her authority, undermining her. Along with the photos and letters its all part of the plan to send her insane again, hopefully for good this time
Janice smirks back
Janice - I hope it works Smith and I will do all I can to help make it work
Bea - You know Raymond it's such a shame you're in the wrong uniform and have been a bit of a mongrel yourself in the past because I could almost grow to like you
Janice - I could almost grow to like you too Smith...I do stress the use of the word almost though
Vera is on the phone in the staff room.....
.....The phone in Toni's flat rings out...
.....Janice arrives in the staff room
Janice - Oh hello Vera, I wasn't expecting anyone to be in here, its not break time yet
Vera hangs up
Vera - I was trying to get hold of Tone
Janice - She isn't here today? I thought she was rostered on?
Vera - Yes she was, but apparently she's resigned
Janice looks surprised
Janice - Resigned? You're kidding me...
Vera - No, and guess who was the one to tell Sue? Not Tone herself but Clements acting on her behalf according to Clements
Janice - Oh really?....
The dining room
Bea, Judy, Cassie, and Pixie are sitting together
Sandra is standing in the doorway
Bea - So when she gives the order to leave we stay in our seats, got that?
Pixie -Sure Bea, I bet Mrs Clements will be awfully upset though!
Bea - That's the whole point Pix love, it's supposed to upset her a lot..ok pass the message on Jude
Judy turns around to where Lorna is sitting behind her and taps her on the back
Lorna turns around and Judy whispers to her. Lorna nods her head and turns back around. Lorna whispers to the person sitting beside her
Bea glances over at Sandra in the doorway with a grin
Janice and Vera are in the staff room having s coffee
Vera - The whole thing seems strange to me
Janice - It seems strange to me too
Vera - I say we call in to see if Tone is home later on tonight after we leave here
Janice nods her head
Janice - Yes, i was thinking the same thing
Vera - You don't think.....
Vera pauses
Janice - Think what Vera?
Vera - No forget it, I am being silly
Janice - No go on, please
Vera - Well you don't think Clements has hurt Tone do you?
Janice - I bloody hope not. If she has I'll kill her
Vera - None of this feels right that's all
Janice -Of course, it doesn't feel right. Nothing ever does when Clements is involved
Back in the dining room
The bell sounds
Sandra - Right ladies, move out now
They all remain in their seats
Sandra - I said move out ladies!.....
Sue is sat behind her desk as Spider is shown in
Sue - Afternoon Simpson
Spider -Yeah G'day....slight improvement on governor since I was last in here I see
Sue - Your time in solitary is over
Spider -Gee, I suppose you expect me to be grateful for the favour?
Sue - Naturally I must advise you to stay away from Webster
Spider - Well gee I'd love to but it's a bit hard in here, can't help but bump into people ya know
Sue - Well just don't try and talk to her or provoke her in any way, we don't want any trouble between you
Spider - Yeah well you just tell her to stay away from me woncha, I never even touched the bitch
Sue - We won't go over all that again Simpson, we had to go on the evidence at hand. The point is I do not want you aggravating her anymore
Spider - Well just make sure I am protected, that crazy bitch is a serial killer remember!
Sue - I will instruct the officers to keep an eye on you for a while
Spider - Forgive me if that doesn't fill me with much confidence woncha

Forged in Fear and Fury - An Apocalyptic LitRPG
In an attempt to prevent Earths ensuing demise, it is ripped from the void by an entity known as The Totality. It is then fused with a Lost Dungeon World to increase its inhabitants chances of survival in a new, system-enhanced universe. Cade Vale barely avoids death in the first second. Will he be able to overcome the rigors of this new world and survive? Will he be able to carve a new life out of the aether for himself and those whom he loves most? ...Will he be able to avoid becoming everything he hates in order to do so? Artwork by Kayla Basciano - Instagram: vulpix1323 Inspired primarily by the systems in The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound, The Genesis System, and The New World as well as by Savage Divinity, Azarinth Healer, and Shovels in Spades in general. I haven't been able to get these worlds out of my head and I've been waiting for something to fill the void left by the hiatus of Genesis, but so far nothing has scratched that itch as much as ProfoundMagician was able to with the world he created. I figure if I'm going to be thinking about this stuff as much as I do I might as well get better at writing while playing with a number of those ideas that I love. I have a number of specifics and events I want to show in the story, but a lot of the fun is coming up with ways to branch those together cohesively. This is an attempt to alleviate my depression by channeling my creativity into a hobby. Hopefully it's as enjoyable to read as it is to write.

NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY: The Adventures of The Creeping Bam (BOOK ONE: The Job)
TAO is a broken world held together with nothing but magic and the will of the gods who protect it and its people. Then thousand years ago THE SUNDERING struck and Tao was almost torn apart by a terrible magical cataclysm which resulted in the planet almost being halted in its journey through the cosmos. It took all the power the gods of Tao could muster to restore its orbit and set it turning again, but in their efforts it was forever changed – its axis was drastically altered, and it now spins in such a way that one face of the world is forever turned from the sun it orbits, leaving half the planet in perpetual darkness. The various humanoid races that survived and now thrive within the habitable parts of THE DAY LANDS have come to live in perpetual fear of what lives beyond THE BORDERLANDS that separate them from whatever dwells within THE NIGHT LANDS, but for ten millennia it has kept its secrets. The land of RUNDAO languishes under the rule of their warlike Northern neighbours, the TEKTEHRAN EMPIRE, while a small, ragtag band of motley adventurers ply their mercenary trade fighting monsters and protecting the common man from the various dangers that haunt the night and prowl the hinterlands on the edges of civilization. THE CREEPING BAM have amassed a modest reputation in their years together, but they’re still just a small-time party of sellswords, thieves, outcasts and mages. They’re also exactly the kind of underdogs the people of Tao doesn’t yet realise are needed to save the world from the encroaching darkness they doesn’t even know is coming … This is a love letter and homage to the high-fantasy worlds of the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Warhammer and the sword & sorcery cinema and literature I fell in love with as a kid growing up in the 80s, from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (and the awesome Schwarzenegger movie, STILL my favourite fantasy film EVER), The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and Ron Howard and George Lucas’ Willow, to the more grown-up and edgy worlds of grimdark masters George RR Martin and (my all-time favourite) Joe Abercrombie, as well as a BIG DOLLOP of Terry Pratchett’s immortal Discworld series. IMPORTANT: This story contains material which some readers may consider to be mature, such as battle violence, some strong language and occasional mild sexual scenes. If this is not your kind of thing, this story is not for you. I am also serializing this story on Tumblr, Wattpad, Quotev and Sweek.

The Puppy Project
"Give me my puppy!" I demanded, my eyes ablazed with fiery anger."Correction, it's not your puppy. It's our puppy," He smiled, but it was anything but sweet nor happy."You know what? Damn you! You're nothing but a cold, emotionless, and heartless bad boy!" I sneered, glaring at him fiercely. He chuckled at my words, taking a step closer to me. He slammed his hand unto the wall, trapping me, before leaning in close. "You got that right sweetheart but I think you got one thing wrong." He said, his eyes piercing straight into mine."And what is that?" I managed to asked, my throat seeming to get drier the more he looked at me."I'm neither one of those when I'm with you," and with those words, slammed his lips into mine.#1 in Strong-Female Character - 1/29/21#1 in Sarcasm - 2/4/21#2 in BadBoy - 2/13/21#3 in Teen Fiction - 2/13/21#1 in Mysterious - 3/4/21Copyrighted 2017.
