Lucy stands grinning as Ted looks at Janice
Ted - Just stay in here and keep quiet love ok!
Janice nods her head as Ted quickly closes the bedroom door.
Ted, Joan and Lucy stand on the landing
Ted looks gravely at Lucy
Ted - You keep quiet my girl, you understand?
Eileen arrives to find the three of them standing there
Eileen - Well then, what did you want to show me, Ted?
Ted - Oh nothing really.....
Eileen - Nothing? But Lucy said you wanted to show me something
Ted - Yes well Lucy likes to play jokes
Eileen - Does she really?
Lucy shrugs and chuckles
Lucy - Yeah! Always joking me
Eileen - You mean you called me up here for no reason at all? You know at my age my legs ache walking up and down bloody stairs too often!
Ted - I'm sure Lucy is sorry...
Silence
Ted - Aren't you love?
Lucy - Oh yeah sure...
Eileen looks at Joan
Eileen - What do you have to say about all this Joan?
Joan - Well it's like Ted said, it was Lucy's idea of a joke to call you up here for nothing
Eileen - Well what was the argument about?
Lucy - None of your business, it was between Daddy and me!
Eileen - There is no need to be so rude, if you were my daughter I would give you a damn good hiding for such rudeness!
Ted - I'm so sorry for Lucy's rudeness love. However what she says is correct, this argument is between father and daughter and needn't concern anyone else
They all stand there for a moment. Ted and Joan in front of the bedroom door
Ted - Perhaps we should all go downstairs and have a drink in the lounge?
Eileen - Is there something in the bedroom you're trying to prevent me from seeing?
Ted looks terrified
Ted - No dear, why do you say that?
Eileen - The way the three of you are standing here like this with the door closed. You certainly look like a suspicious trio to me...
Ted - There is nothing in the bedroom I assure you....isn't that right Joan!
Joan nods her head
Joan - Yes that's right, nothing in there
Lucy (grinning) - Why don't you have a look for yourself, Eileen, put your mind at ease?
Eileen - Yes maybe I should. Something certainly seems strange here...
Eileen moves towards the door as Ted steers her away with a chuckle
Ted - Well actually while you're up here I wanted to ask your opinion on something...
Ted walks Eileen into the bathroom
Ted - Tiles Eileen!
Eileen - Tiles?
Ted - Oh yes indeed!
Eileen - What about Tiles, Ted?
Ted - What colour do you think would look best?
Eileen looks puzzled
Ted - I'm thinking of re-tiling you see! I can't decide which colour would be best!
Toni is walking along a corridor at Wentworth as Shanice runs over
Shanice - Miss I wanted a word!
Toni - What about Battersby?
Shanice - I wanted to know if anyone has spoken to the governor yet about my request?
Toni looks blank
Shanice - About the dining room remember?
Toni - Oh yes, let me get this right again. You wanted to request for a bigger dining room to be built, is that right?
Shanice nods her head enthusiastically
Shanice - It's just like I said to Roslyn you see, it's only more fairer if all the blocks can eat at the same time as each other! She said I should tell Mr Moran my idea!
Toni - Well I haven't spoken to him yet I'm sorry
Shanice sighs with irritation
Shanice - But it's flaming important!
Toni (sarcastic) - Well I know it is, It's the most important issue Mr Moran needs to deal with...but unfortunately he has to deal with less important issues like parole hearings and things like that. Speaking of which I hope you are ready to face the parole board in the morning?
Shanice looks surprised
Shanice - Me? But my parole ain't due yet, is it?
Toni - Yes, you're up before the board tomorrow. Didn't anyone tell you?
Shanice - No they flaming well didn't!
Toni - Well they should have done, I'm sorry
Shanice - This is another thing to sue for flaming compo over! The list of issues keeps on growing!
Toni - And what about the new dining room, do you still want Mr Moran informed of your ideas?
Shanice - Sod that now, I'm getting out of here ain't I! That don't matter no more!
Toni - Battersby, before you get carried away I ought to warn you that you haven't been granted parole yet. You still have to convince the parole board and they can knock you back if they want
Shanice - They bleeding well better not knock me back! I'll sue for flaming compo if they do!
Toni - You plan to get a lot of compo don't you Battersby?
Shanice laughs and nods her head
Shanice - Oh yeah, thousands!
Toni pats her on the back
Toni - Well good luck with that one!
We see a rec room that is not the H Block rec room, a bunch of unknown women
Ros enters with a book
Ros - Is Shanice around?
Unknown woman - No none of us have seen her have we gals?
They all shake their heads
Ros sighs with relief
Ros - Thank god for that, I can finally get some peace from her. She's been doing my head in all-day
Woman - Yeah we feel sorry for ya having to share with her. H Block must have breathed a sigh of relief the day she got moved onto our block!
Ros - Yeah I bet they did!
Woman - Still knowing Bea I bet she never took no crap from Shanice!
Ros - Oh Bea can't control all the women all the time you know... and she isn't getting any younger either
Woman - Personally it annoys me how the top dog always comes from flaming H block, what's so damn special about that lot anyway?
Ros - I wouldn't know, it's been 8 years since I was on that block...now if you don't mind I'd like to read in peace now
Woman - Oh I'm very sorry I'm sure!
Ros sits quietly with her book as Toni arrives
Toni - Evening ladies
The unknown prisoner - Oh evening Miss Williams!
Toni approaches Ros
Toni - Coulson, I wanted to remind you about your parole hearing tomorrow
Ros - I don't need reminding thank you
Toni - Oh well Mr Moran wanted me to remind you and I did...I also wanted to say good luck
Ros - Thank you...
Ros returns to her book
Toni leaves the room
The prisoner glances over
Prisoner - You never said anything about being up for parole Ros?
Ros - I didn't see the need to spread it around Madge, it's my business no one else's
Madge - Fair enough
Ros - anyway I mightn't get it
Madge - But you should dear, you've served your time now. 8 years is long enough for a young woman like you. You deserve a chance to be free and live your life now

Ted, Joan, Eileen and Lucy are sitting in the lounge
Ted - So you think green tiles, Eileen?
Eileen - Yes, green is good
Ted - I thought maybe blue?
Eileen sighs
Eileen - Well why ask my opinion then? If you want blue go with blue, it's your bathroom!
Lucy - As fascinating as this is I must dash now...
Lucy gets up to leave
Ted - Wait a moment, please.....I wanted to ask Joan for a progress report
Lucy pulls a face
Lucy - A progress report?
Ted - Yes on how you performed on your first day on the job
Joan - Oh she did quite well really....but still she needs to remember not to call me Auntie while we are at work. She must address me in the appropriate manner
Ted looks pleased
Ted - Well done love, I'm proud of you. We'll make a damn fine officer out of you
Lucy - Thank you, can I go now?
Ted - Yes, off you go
Lucy leaves the room
The three of them are left alone
Ted - Now she's gone you can tell me how she really got on Joan
Joan - What I said just now was the truth
Ted - Really? I mean don't get me wrong, that pleases me a great deal. I'm just surprised that's all, I was worried she would be a disaster. I mean she has only just finished her training, never had to deal with prisoners before....never stepped inside a prison before!
Joan - Maybe in a previous life she was a prisoner or something...
Ted laughs
Ted - Good one sis!
Eileen examines her watch
Eileen - I need to make a move soon
Ted - Yes darling, of course
Eileen - Before I go we must discuss Mrs Powell and Mr Carlton, Joan
Joan - Yes, I felt maybe tomorrow we should do it?
Eileen - Yes, no point leaving it any longer
Ted looks inquisitive
Ted - Do what about Mrs Powell and Mr Carlson?
Eileen - Oh Joan and I feel we need to attempt to talk them into returning to Blackmoor
Ted looks at Joan
Ted - You told me you hate them both sis?
Joan - Well yes I do but Eileen feels...
Joan pauses
Joan - Well we both feel that despite how I may feel about them that they are both excellent officers, very competent and not too soft on the prisoners
Eileen - That's right, they are both the sort of officers I want in my prisons
Ted - But hang on, doesn't Carlson have a prosthetic leg?
Eileen - Yes, so?
Ted - So surely this makes him weaker? Makes him a target?
Joan - Well as a matter of fact it does. I was telling Eileen only today about the incident with a prisoner called Kate Peter.....
Eileen cuts Joan off
Eileen - I have every faith in Mr Carlton...I don't believe disability should hold anyone back
Eileen takes a sip of her drink and pulls a face
Eileen - And anyway we'll give him a nice desk job! Always plenty of paperwork to be done and someone has to do it!
The B Block recroom
Ros is still sitting quietly with her book as Shanice arrives and sits beside her
Shanice - There ya are Rozzy! I was looking for ya, I went to our cell to see if you was there
Ros rolls her eyes with annoyance
Ros - Hello Shanice
Shanice - Now Rozzy, how many times have I told ya! You can call me Shan or Shanny if you like, we are mates after all!
Shanice looks at the book
Shanice - Good book?
Ros -Yes very....and I am trying to have some peace so I can read it!
Shanice - I've never been one for reading much me!...or doing much writing. They said to me ''you need to improve your spelling Mrs Battersby'' but I thought so long as I can spell me own name then what else matters?
Ros - Was there anything important you wanted to see me about?
Shanice - Oh not really...
Ros - Then maybe I can read in peace now?...
Shanice - Oh of course love, soz!
Ros returns to her book
Shanice sits quietly for a few moments and then roars with laughter. Ros jumps and looks at Shanice with irritation
Shanice - Oh silly me! I forgot my good news Rozzy! I am up for me parole in the morning!
Ros - Yes, so am i
Shanice slaps her on the back
Shanice - Fancy that eh! Both of us getting out on the same day
Ros - Nothings for sure yet
Shanice - Oh that's negative talk Rozzy! We both need to keep positive about it!.....where will you go?
Ros - I have no idea yet, I'm fairly sure my Aunt will put me up for a bit
Shanice - Well if not you're welcome to come and stay with me
Ros looks horrified. Madge sits and laughs
Shanice - What's so amusing Marge?
Madge - Stop calling me Marge, my name is Madge. I have told you that before several times now
Shanice - Well what's so amusing!
Madge - Nothing really, it's just you surely don't imagine Ros will want to stay with you do you?
Shanice - And why not? We are mates after all?
Madge - Mates? Oh get real, Ros can't stand you! None of us can
Shanice turns to Ros
Shanice - No that's not true, is it? We're goods mates right
Ros fakes a smile
Ros - Yes of course we are...
Shanice turns back to Madge
Shanice - See Marge? You got it all wrong!
Madge - No I didn't you dumb bitch. Coulson is just saying that so she won't upset you
Shanice loses her temper
Shanice - NO YOU STUPID LYING BITCH MARGE! ROZZY AND I ARE BEZZIE MATES AND YOU'RE A SHIT-STIRRER
Shanice attacks Madge and they fight
Ros runs in to pull them apart
Ros - STOP THAT BOTH OF YOU!
Madge - You stupid cow Coulson! What's it to you if I wanna beat this bitch to a pulp!
Shanice - I'd like to see you try!
Madge - Any time love!
Ros - I don't care if you kill each other, you're both an annoying pair of cows. Just don't do it in here where I have to hear this nonsense! I just want to read in peace damn it!
Madge - You always did think you were a cut above the rest of us didn't you Coulson....a stuck up bitch that's what you are
Ros - It's better than being a brainless thug
Madge - Oh and that's what I am, is it?
Ros - Yes it is...if you had half a brain cell it would be lonely!
Madge gets into Ros's face aggressively
Madge - I could beat the crap out of you right now for a comment like that
Shanice - Oh fair go eh Marge!
Madge - And you can keep put of it, Battersby!
Madge smirks at Ros
Madge - Maybe if you apologise right now we can forget the whole thing
Ros - I'm not a hypocrite. I don't feel sorry so therefore I won't apologise
Madge - I really advise you to rethink that cos I'm gonna hurt ya bad if you don't
Ros - I'm not scared of you Cummings
Madge - Well you should be because now I'm going to hurt you
Madge slaps Ros in the face
Ros responds with a vicious clenched fist punch that sends Madge flying just as Vera arrives in the doorway
Madge has blood pouring down her face as she tilts her head back
Madge - YOU BLOODY BITCH! I'LL GET YOU FOR THAT!
Shanice - OH NICE ONE ROZZY! IT'S ABOUT TIME OLD MARGE GOT A DAMN GOOD HIDING!..... THAT WAS WELL IMPRESSIVE
Vera claps her hands with a smirk on her face causing Ros, Shanice and Madge to notice her for the first time
Ros - Miss Bennett, I didn't see you there
Vera - No, clearly not. Well, Battersby is quite right of course, it was certainly impressive. Such a shame about your parole though isn't it, you're not likely to get it now after that
Shanice - Marge did provoke her though miss
Vera - And you can keep put of it, Battersby!
Vera smirks at Ros
Vera - I always knew you wouldn't be able to keep out of trouble for long Coulson. Your type thinks she can do whatever she pleases and get away with it You killed McNally and thought you could get away with it and now you think you can get away with whatever you like in here. Well you can't
Madge - I need to see the sister
Vera - Yes alright Cummings, I'll take you now
Vera begins to leave with Madge. She pauses in the doorway and looks back at Ros
Vera - Don't go anywhere will you Coulson, I'll be back to escort you to solitary as soon as I've dealt with Cummings
Vera leaves with Madge
Ros - DAMN IT!
Shanice - Oh what will you do Rozzy? Bennett will ruin your parole!
Ros - She can do what she likes, I don't care anyway
Shanice - Don't be silly, I'm sure you do
Ros - I've been here for 8 years now, where would I go if I got out? What would I do?
Ros shakes her head sadly
Ros - This is the only world I know now...maybe I'm better off here
Shanice - Oh well, if you're gonna be staying I'd put in a request for a bigger dining room if I were you
Ros gives Shanice a look
Toni arrives home to find her living room has been rearranged. She looks around in shock
Sandra is in the kitchen cooking as she arrives
Sandra - Oh hiya! Dinner won't be long, I hope you like chicken?
Toni - What?....oh yes that's fine. Look what have you been doing in my lounge?
Sandra chuckles
Sandra - Oh I rearranged the furniture, I hope you don't mind? I think it looks much better the way it is now, don't you?
Toni - No I preferred it as it was. This is my home and I didn't expect you to come in here and take it upon yourself to make changes without my consent
Sandra - But dear, it is my home too now
Toni - No you are just a guest and I was hoping you would be able to find yourself a hotel soon?
Sandra looks deeply hurt
Sandra - A hotel?...oh but we're friends Tone! I want to stay here. I hate living alone...please can I stay?
Toni sighs
Toni -I like my own space I'm sorry
Sandra - Well just for a few more days then, please?
Toni - Well yes ok, I suppose that will be ok
Sandra smiles and pours a glass of wine
Sandra - Have a glass of wine Tone!
Sandra holds the glass out to Toni
Ted is waving as Eileen drives off in her car
Joan joins him in the doorway
Joan - Well that was a close one
Ted - Yes, I could kill Lucy for that! I'd better go and tell Jan it's safe to come down now
Joan - And then maybe the three of us should sit down for a talk
Ted - A talk about what?
Joan - About what you think you're playing at for a start
Ted - Well I think that's my business Joan, Mine and Jan's, not yours or anyone else's
Joan - But you are two-timing Eileen!
Ted - And what she doesn't know can't hurt her can it!
Joan - I'm not happy about this
Ted - It really needn't concern you
Joan - It does concern me when I am expected to keep the secret for you...presumably, that's what you want me to do?
Ted - Of course, i mean imagine the trouble it would cause if it came out?
Joan - Then don't tell me it doesn't concern me Ted when it does....and I feel I am entitled to my views
Ted - And what are those views?
Joan - You should end it with Janice right away
Ted - No way!
Joan - I was inside with her, it doesn't feel right that you are seeing her
Ted - Well I am and it's just something that both yourself and Lucy will have to get used to
Ted walks off
Janice is still in the bed as Ted arrives
Ted - The coasts clear now Jan!
Janice - That was close
Ted - It was too damn close! I'm really angry with Lucy
Janice - She doesn't like me much does she?
Ted - She doesn't like any of the women I date, I wouldn't take it personally
Janice - I don't....but I can bet she will cause a whole lot more trouble for us
Ted - She won't if she knows what's good for her. I have let that girl get away with too much in the past and I'm not going to do that anymore
Janice gives a mischievous grin
Janice - Remind me where we were before we were so rudely interrupted
Ted grins too and moves in for a kiss
