Meg is in the governor's office with Bob
Meg - I must say it was quite a surprise to return from a day off to find that you are now the governor, I've got deputy back and Sandra's been demoted to senior officer rank
Bob - A nice surprise though I hope?
Meg smiles
Meg - Yes of course...any idea what made Dwyer change his mind about keeping Sandra as governor?
Bob - Perhaps he realized that Sandra is not a suitable choice as governor
Meg - Yes, I have had my doubts about her I have to admit. There's just something about her I don't like
Bob - Yes isn't there just. Well you can rest assured I intend to keep a very close eye on her now that I'm in this chair
Meg - I was a little surprised to hear that Maxwell and Gibson got pardoned too?
Bob - Kath should never have been back here in the first place and the department realized they were too harsh on Maxwell and Gibson for the rooftop protest. It was a peaceful protest and no one got hurt, the sentences of 5 years were far too excessive
Meg - I agree, it's just not often the department backs down or admits it was wrong over anything
Bob - Well there's a first time for everything and maybe now I'm in the chair we can bring in some much-needed changes around here
Meg - What sort of changes?
Bob - Changes for the better...if it's one thing, I can't stand its corruption. I don't mind bending a few rules when I have to for a good cause, but corruption within this prison can't be tolerated. What Dwyer and his department get up to is one thing but where Wentworth is concerned I'm in charge here now and I'm relying on you as my deputy to give me your full support?
Meg nods her head
Meg - you have it
Bob smiles
Bob - Good, I'm pleased to hear it
Sandra is marching out of Wentworth as Toni runs out after her into the grounds
Toni - Mrs Clements where are you going?
Sandra - To see Dwyer of course. If he expects me to let him get away with this he is mad
Toni - Don't you think you need to calm down a bit?
Sandra - No I do not Williams! I have every damn right to be angry...well he'd better have some answers for me!
Sandra marches through the gate as Toni stands to watch her go
Vera runs up
Vera - Miss Williams, I saw you and Clements marching off in a hurry, I called after you but you didn't seem to hear me? What on earth's the matter? You both tore out here so fast I thought the prison was on fire?
Toni shakes her head
Toni - Oh it's Sandra, shes off to confront Dwyer. She's so mad about losing governor, I feel sure she'll only make matters worse the mood she's in. I tried to make her see reason but she wouldn't listen
Vera - Oh let the woman get on with it, we have a prison to run. If she wants to confront Dwyer that's her funeral
Toni - Yes you're right, at least I tried anyway
Vera - You worry too much about others Tone, I used to think that at Barnhurst too
Toni smiles
Toni - I don't even like Sandra, I just wanted to stop her making trouble for herself
Vera - Well you can't help people who don't want to listen....besides Clements has a few screws loose if you ask me

They share a chuckle
Vera - let's go inside and have a coffee, we're both due on a break
They walk back towards the building
The laundry
Judy - We all thought you were dead Stevens?
Sonia - I faked my own death so that Renner wouldn't come after me
Bea - And what will you do now? He could find out your alive and back in here
Sonia - How will he find out Smith? The authorities know the danger I could be in so they are keeping my recapture a secret
Bea - Yeah well don't worry, I won't tell anyone. But that doesn't change how I feel about you Stevens, how you worked with Ferguson to set me up for Barnhurst
Sonia - That was a long time ago now Smith, I have turned over a new leaf. Seen the error of my ways
Judy and Bea laugh
Judy - Pull the other one Stevens, its got bells on it
Sonia - It's the truth I swear, I'm not looking for any trouble now, I've changed
Bea - People like you don't change Stevens
Sonia - Oh I don't expect you to believe me right away, I hope in time you will
Bea - Never!
Sonia - Well that's a pity Smith because it would be so much nicer if we all got on together, don't you agree?
Bea - Yeah well I can't stand around chatting all day, I have work to do
Sonia - Yes of course, what would you like me to do?
Bea - You can help Judy with the folding
Sonia - Yes I'll be only too happy to
Sonia joins Judy at the folding table
Sonia - Well how are you, Bryant? How's your dicky ticker? The pacemaker still doing its job I hope?
Judy gives her a dirty look and then turns to Helen
Judy - You know something Hel, I could swear I heard something just now. It sounded like a dirty rat or something
Helen gives Judy a cold look
Helen - Then you'd be in good company won't you, Bea and you both
Helen turns away from Judy. Judy bows her head and looks upset
Sonia gives Judy a sympathetic smile
Sonia - Don't tell me you've fallen out with Smart, Bryant. You were always such good friends
Judy - Yeah well you can just keep out of it can't you
Sonia shrugs
Sonia - Yes sure, hardly any of my business is it?
Judy - Yes that's right its not
Helen is by the driers as Bea approaches
Bea - Alright Helen I won't a word outside
Helen - Can't you see I'm busy?
Bea - It can wait, come on
Helen rolls her eyes and follows Bea into the corridor
Sonia watches them go
Sonia - Pretty funny that don't you think Bryant?
Judy (annoyed) - Oh what are you on about Stevens?
Sonia - Well Smith told me she couldn't stand around talking because she has work to do but she can find time to step into the corridor with Smart
Bea and Helen are in the corridor
Helen - Well, what do you want Bea?
Bea - Don't you think it's about time you stopped this silliness?
Helen - What silliness?
Bea - You know damn well what silliness, the way you're being with Jude and i
Helen - I don't happen to think I am being silly over that
Bea - Come on Helen, I know you're annoyed with us right now but we go back a long way...
Helen - I know that Sweetie, but I can't just switch off the way I feel. I wish I could believe me

Bea looks upset
Bea - Come on love, Jude and I miss you
Helen - Do you?
Bea - Of course, we do. Let's stop this and be friends again, what do you say?
Helen stands thinking for a moment
Helen - I'll think about it Bea, that's the best I can do right now I'm sorry
Bea bows her head, she looks upset
Bea - Fair enough....well let's get back to the laundry shall we
Bea walks back. Helen follows behind
Lori and Wally knock at the door to Jocks flat
Inside Jock is in the bathroom flushing a finger down the toilet, the heavily dismembered body of Anthony lies in a blood-stained bathtub
Jock stops dead in panic, he sits still
Lori knocks at the door again
Jock quietly wheels himself into his lounge
Lori - Well it doesn't look like he's in does it. We'll have to try again later
Jock can hear their voices from the lounge
Wally - This is bloody annoying, I want to see him now
Lori - I know but if he's not in what can we do?
Wally - Yes you're right we'll come back later
They turn to walk away.
Jock wheels himself backward back towards the bathroom as he knocks into a table and sends a vase crashing to the floor, he sits in panic
Outside Wally and Lori are halfway up the path as they stop in their tracks, they have heard, they look at each other
Wally - What the hell was that?....he's in there
Wally marches back and hammers at the door
Wally - MR STEWART?...ARE YOU IN THERE MR STEWART?
Wally hammers again impatiently
Wally - COME ON OPEN UP, WE WANT A WORD WITH YOU
Lori pulls Wally away from the door
Lori - Will you calm down? You're getting angry and it's not helping
Wally - He's in there damn it!
Lori - We can't make him open up can we
Wally - Can't we?
Lori - No, come on be sensible
Wally - Yes you're right
Lori - What we'll do is go to the pub and have a drink, come back again later. Maybe he'll be more willing to talk to us then? Persistence pays off sometimes
Wally nods his head
Wally - Yes ok, I could just murder a beer
Lori smiles
Lori - Well there you go then, so could i. Let's grab a beer and calm down
Lori starts to lead Wally away. Jock sighs with relief
Suddenly Wally turns back and runs at the door and kicks it open with two heavy kicks
Beth is lying in a chair, clearly under sedation
Weissman - What do you remember about the night you killed Brian Beth?
Beth smiles
Beth - We had a lovely party to celebrate 40 years of marriage. It was a wonderful night. Our dear children bought us tickets to a cruise, we were so excited about it
Weissman - And after you went to bed? What happened then?
Nigel takes Rachel's gag out
Nigel - Is there anything you need? A drink? Some food?
Rachel - I need you to untie me now. you have to let me go Nigel you know that
Nigel shakes his head
Nigel - You'll go straight to the police won't you? Then we'll all be split up. I'll be in prison and away from you all, I wouldn't be able to bear that
Rachel - So what do you intend to do Nigel? You can't keep me tied up down here forever
Nigel - Yes I realize that
Rachel - If you're going to kill me just get it over with but don't hurt the kids I beg of you
Nigel smiles and kisses her
Nigel - I'm still deciding on the best course of action, I don't like being rushed into things you know that
Rachel - At least tell me what happened that night, you owe me that much?
Nigel - Why? it would only upset you
Rachel - Please Nigel, I need to know. I need to understand better
Beth - I got back out of bed, I was sleepwalking again. I was in a kind of trance
Weissman - Then what happened?
Beth - I made my way downstairs...
Nigel smiles
Nigel - Your father told me about the inheritance that night, he was a bit drunk and confided in me how he had all that money saved up and had arranged his will so that you, Ben, and Beth would get the money after his death. He wanted to make sure you were all provided for. He wanted you all to be safe and secure. He told me he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer but didn't want to tell anyone yet...not until he had to, not until the condition got to the point where he couldn't hide it anymore
Rachel shakes her head
Rachel - You're lying, my father was as fit as a fiddle. He wasn't terminally ill
Nigel - He was love, I wouldn't lie about something like that
Rachel - So he told you that he was terminally ill and about the inheritance, then what?
Nigel - Then the party ended and everyone went home and we all went to bed...
Beth - So I went down to the kitchen. I looked into the lounge on the way and I saw Nigel on the sofa on the way there, kissing someone. I thought he was with Rachel, it was dark I couldn't see...
.
Nigel - I was on the sofa with that nice young girl Toni, you're mother suddenly passed by and saw us. I felt sure she would go mad at seeing me with another woman. But instead, she just stood and stared at us for a moment before moving off. She seemed in some kind of trance, I realized she was sleepwalking again so I got up and followed her...
Beth - I went into the kitchen and opened the fridge, I thought I'll do a bit of cooking! I had tried that before while I was sleepwalking and nearly burnt the kitchen down, I thought this time I'll show them. I'll cook something wonderful. So I picked up a knife...
Nigel - She picked up a knife and started chopping some carrots, I stood and watched for a moment. I thought to myself this is downright bizarre. I thought I'd better get that knife off her and put her back to bed before she hurt herself or something
Beth - So there I was happily chopping away when suddenly Nigel grabs me and says.....
Nigel - ''I'll take that knife off you shall I? You'd be better off back in bed what do you reckon?''
Beth - I thought he had a cheek, what business is it of his if I want to cook in my own kitchen or not?
Nigel - Well she didn't take too kindly to that I can tell you. She told me to go away and mind my own business. But I struggled with her for the knife...
Beth - And eventually he got it off me. He started to take me back to bed, i was most annoyed. He said...
Nigel - ''Don't you think it's about time you got help for this Mrs Abbott? It's been worrying Rach a lot I can tell you'' Well that's what I said to her and she didn't take kindly to that at all. As we were leaving the kitchen I was going to put the knife back but then I had an idea, why not kill Brian and let it look like Beth had done it? She wouldn't remember in the morning and we all knew about the sleepwalking. As I led her up the stairs all I could think about was that inheritance, I mean for god sake I've wanted enough money for a better house for you and the kids for years. Finally there it all was right there waiting for me. I had to take the opportunity while it was there
Beth - So he put me back in bed and he said ''Go to sleep now Mrs Abbott''
Nigel - I told her to go to sleep and covered her over. I turned her facing away from Brian. Then I stood back and looked at Brian, he was snoring. I raised the knife and plunged it into his chest and stomach several times. When I'd finished I went to the bathroom and wiped my prints off the knife. I wrapped the knife in a towel and went back to the bedroom
Beth - I knew he was up to something, but I didn't look to see, I just lay in the darkness thinking about whether it was time to get help for the sleepwalking. It seemed it was getting a bit out of hand, I mean only the previous night I had crashed my car into my neighbor Len's car.....well anyway then suddenly Nigel, I think it was Nigel anyway, came back and took hold of my hand, he wrapped it around something, it felt cold and hard
Nigel - I wrapped her hand around the knife so that her prints would be all over it, then using the towel I placed it back in your father's chest and crept back downstairs. Young Toni was still lying there looking cute so I got back on the sofa with her
Rachel is angry and tearful
Rachel - You killed my father!
Nigel - I did it for you and the kids can't you see?
Rachel - I loved him very much, you knew that
Nigel - He was terminally ill anyway, why does it matter? All I did was hurry it up a bit
Rachel - You're sick do you know that?
Nigel - I wanted that money for our future
Rachel - And what about setting my mother up for it? I suppose that was ok as well just so long as you get the money?
Nigel - Well she's just a silly old bitch isn't she, she's never even liked me much. You can't expect me to care what happens to her
Rachel shakes her head in despair
Rachel - You're very sick, you need help
Nigel - Well anyway now you know what happened.....and I still need to decide what I'm going to do now don't i
Rachel - Let me go and hand yourself in Nigel, you have to
Nigel shakes his head
Nigel - I already told you I can't do that
Beth screams and thrashes around in the chair
Beth - NIGEL DID IT!........... NIGEL KILLED MY BRIAN......NIGEL KILLED HIM!
Weissman leaps forward and restrains Beth
Weissman - Calm down Mrs Abbott, calm down it's going to be ok
Beth - HE KILLED MY BRIAN, HE KILLED HIM!..... HE KILLED MY BRIAN
Weissman - Shuush! calm down
Weissman comforts Beth and calms her down
Weissman - That's it, keep nice and calm I'm going to bring you back out now ok? We'll talk once you're fully awake again
Beth nods her head

PART 2
Sandra is with Dwyer in his office
Dwyer - What do you want Clements? I'm very busy today
Sandra (furious) - Why did you give my job to Moran?
Dwyer - The department don't need to explain anything to you
Sandra - Oh just tell me damn you!
Dwyer - We felt Moran was more suitable for the job
Sandra - Bullshit! You and I had an understanding and you went back on it and I want to know why? What does Moran have over you?
Dwyer - I have said all I am prepared to say on this matter, now if you don't mind I have work to do, you can see yourself out
Dwyer returns to his paperwork. Sandra sits there for a moment and then in a fury sweeps all the paperwork onto the floor
Sandra - Don't you dismiss me like that Dwyer! No one does that to me! I demand a proper explanation right now!
Dwyer is red in the face with anger
Dwyer - I've said all I'm prepared to say. Now if you want to keep your job as an officer at Wentworth I suggest you leave right now and don't ever come in here behaving in this outrageous manner again
Sandra - You're a bastard Dwyer!
Dwyer snaps
Dwyer - GET OUT OF MY SIGHT AND GET BACK TO WENTWORTH NOW BEFORE I DECIDE TO DISMISS YOU COMPLETELY!
Sandra gets up and storms out
Dwyer bends over and begins to collect his paperwork up off the floor
Lori and Wally enter Jock's flat, the lounge is empty
They cover their noses looking disgusted
Lori - What on earth is that disgusting smell? It smells like something died here
Wally (suspicious) - Yes doesn't it just...
They begin to look around
Lori - Maybe we should just leave, this is giving me the creeps
Wally - No way, we've come this far
They look in the kitchen, it's empty
They arrive at the bathroom, Lori screams in horror
Jock is in the bedroom opening a cupboard
Back in the bathroom, Lori is screaming
Wally hugs her
Lori - Get me out of here Wally, please
Wally - It's alright we're going, calm down
Wally begins to lead Lori out of the bathroom
Lori - We have to get out of here now and get the police
Wally - Yes we're going to
They arrive in the lounge and stop in their tracks in shock
Jock is sitting in the middle of the room pointing a gun at them
Jock - Not so fast eh, I haven't even offered you a cup of tea or anything
