The priest looks shocked but remains calm
The Priest - I don't believe I caught your name?
Nigel - Does it matter what my name is?
Priest - No I'm sorry I suppose it doesn't really...so...why don't you tell me a bit more about the crime?
Nigel - Why do you need to know any more? So that so you can tell the police all about it?
Priest - I'm just trying to help....tell me whatever you feel comfortable with, no pressure on my part I promise you...
Silence
Priest - Please do not be afraid, I'm here to help
Silence
The priest glances at the tiny gap in the cubicle wall, the other cubicle is empty. He quickly opens his door and steps out to see the back of a man quickly disappearing through the main doors of the church
Judy paces the cell
Judy - Does it really matter why I'm back? I just am, can't we leave it at that?
Bea =- Of course, it matters Jude. You promised me you'd never come back this time and I was so sure you'd make it. I want to know what went wrong
Judy - I gave it a damn good try, I didn't want to come back here that's for sure
Bea - One minute you're organizing a charity concert, the next you're back in here. It doesn't make any sense
Judy - Yeah well it does if the organizer used the money for their own reasons, didn't give it to the deaf kids at all
Bea looks shocked and horrified
Bea - No Jude, that can't be so?
Judy - Well it is and I suppose now you hate me too. Everyone else does, even Sheila
Bea - Jude why? Just tell me why you did it
Judy turns away from Bea in tears
A familiar face in is reception - Helen Smart
Meg is there with the charge sheet
Meg -Back again Helen?
Helen smiles and does a silly voice
Helen - Well you know what they say Mrs Morris, home sweet home!
Judy is still crying
Judy - I took it because I'm a stupid selfish bitch ok
Bea comforts Judy
Bea - Come on Jude, I've known you a long time. There has to be more to it than that. You wouldn't do something like that without a good reason
Judy - I can't tell you, love, I'm sorry, it's not that I don't trust you I just can't say any more
Bea - You don't need to tell me anymore I can already guess. It was Jock Stewart again wasn't it?
Judy nods her head and wipes the tears off her face
Judy - He's still in a wheelchair and he blames me for it. He wants the money to go to the states for some sort of treatment. This time he threatened to hurt little David as well as Lori
Bea looks angry
Bea - That baaaastard!
Judy - Yeah well now you know and keep it to yourself, please
Bea - You're not just going to let him get away with this surely?
Judy - I have to, I have no choice. Now he has what he wants he'll leave me alone and Lori and David will be safe
Bea - But it's not right Jude
Judy - You have to promise me you won't say anything either
Bea looks unsure
Judy - Please Bea, promise me you'll keep it between us two
Bea reluctantly nods her head
Bea - Yeah ok. I still think you're mad though
Judy - I'm protecting Lori and David

The police are at the church with the priest
Police officer - Did he give a name?
The priest - No I'm afraid not
Police officer - Did you get a look at his face? You can give me a description?
The priest - No I'm sorry, he was in the confession box and then left quickly. All I saw was the back of his head
Police officer - I see....did he give many details about the alleged crime?
Priest - No nothing at all, I tried but he wouldn't tell me
The police officer - Well we really don't have very much to go on then do we?
The priest - I'm sorry, he left so fast. I wanted to get him to tell me more. I felt I had to report this anyway
Police officer - Yes, of course, you did the right thing
Priest - Maybe he will come back? I can get him to tell me more then
Police officer - Maybe but it's doubtful, it seems more likely he was pulling a prank. Some people have too much time on their hands
Priest - Oh no I doubt it was a prank. He seemed very troubled to me. I'd say he is struggling to live with his actions
Police officer - With all due respect, some people are very good actors.
The rec room
Meg arrives with Helen
Meg - Some of you may know Helen Smart already
Shirley looks over and looks concerned
Meg - I'll leave you to settle back in Helen
Helen - Gee thanks Mrs Morris
Meg leaves the rec room
Shirley waits for her to go and then charges over
Shirley - What are you doing here? Who is looking after Alicia?
Helen - Relax hun, she's with your mother
Shirley has a face like thunder
Shirley - Relax? Do you not remember what I told you about my mother? That woman can't be trusted to look after a hamster let alone a child! I wanted you to look after her, you knew that
Helen - Well I'm sorry love but I didn't want to be stuck with someone else's kid forever
Shirley - You selfish bitch! I thought we were friends
Helen look angry
Helen - maybe you shouldn't have ended up back in here sweetie, don't try blaming me for things that are your own fault
Shirley- I suppose you did business while Alicia was in the house did you?
Helen - Well a girls gotta make a living somehow hasn't she? Especially when she has to pay extra to feed someone else's brat
Shirley - You bitch!
Shirley flies at Helen and they scrap
Shirley - I'll never trust you again now
Helen - Good, now I can get some peace....oh and by the way, your precious little Alicia is a spoiled obnoxious little princess. She must take after her mother eh
Bea and Judy arrive in the room
Bea - Hey cut it out!
Bea pulls Shirley and Helen apart
Bea - What's going on here?
Shirley - Not that it's any of your business but this bitch, who I thought was my friend, has let me down big time
Bea - Why are you back again Helen?
Helen - Same old same old
Bea rolls her eyes
Bea - Never change do you?
Helen smiles
Helen - Nope...
Helen looks at Judy
Helen - Gday Jude, fancy seeing you here eh.....gonna fill your old mate Helen in on what you're doing back here
Judy and Bea exchange a look
Leanne is alone in her cell, lying on the bed, as Kath arrives in the doorway
Advertisement
Leanne looks at her nervously
Leanne - G'day Kath...
Kath - Up to much kid killer?
Leanne - No not much
Kath steps in and closes the cell door. She walks around the cell
Kath - Any cozy chats with Clements recently?
Leanne - Not for a few days now
Kath smiles
Kath - She has a soft spot for you kid killer
Leanne - I know...
Kath - She even went as far as to warn me to make sure you stay unharmed
Leanne - Did she?
Kath - Yes...
Kath stands in silence for a second and then suddenly runs at Leanne and pins her to the bed. Leanne tries to scream as Kath covers her mouth
Kath - But as we both know we have a private relationship don't we kid killer.....one where I will still hurt you and Clements will never find out about it
The rec room
Helen looks shocked. The rest of the room look at Judy in disgust
Helen - You stole the money for the deaf kids?
Judy - Yes but I had a good reason
Judy addresses the whole room
Judy - You have to, believe me, I had a really good reason
Helen - What is this reason then Jude? I'd really like to know
Judy - I can't tell you, honey, you just have to trust me that's all
Helen (daft voice) - Well it sounds a bit fishy to me...
Bea - Oh belt up Helen, you know Jude well enough by now to know she wouldn't do something like this unless she really had to
Shirley - Then why won't she tell us what the reason is?
Bea - Because it's no one else's business that's why
Janice gets out of her seat and stands with Shirley
Janice - You just want to protect your mate Smith, embarrassed because you sang her praises for days before and after the concert and now you have egg on your face. Your wonderful friend turns out to be nothing but a lousy liar and deceiver
Bea - Shut up Raymond
Shirley - Why should she shut up? Seems pretty accurate to me
Shirley and Janice laugh as Bea flies at them
Bea - You pair of bitches, I told you to shut up!
Janice - You silly fat old fool Smith
Bea - Wanna say that again Raymond?
Bea and Janice scrap and Shirley runs to assist Janice
Beth steps forwards anxiously
Beth - Come on ladies, let's all be civil with each other eh
Shirley - Like we're gonna listen to anything you say, crazy old sleepwalking granny
Cheryl is in the doorway
Cheryl - SCREWS!
Bea, Janice, and Shirley all split apart as Bob arrives in the room
Bob glances around and senses the tension
Bob- What's going on here ladies?
Cheryl - Oh nothing Mr Moran, just debating what to watch on telly
Bea - Yes some of the little kids here want to watch the silly kiddie cartoons, while some of us would rather watch the adult tv
Bea and Janice sneer at each other
Beth - This place is a madhouse, I swear if I stay here much longer I will go mad
Janice - Oh shut up Abbot, you stupid old cow!
Bob - That's enough Raymond!....now Smith and Abbott you have visitors so come with me
Bob glances around at the others
Bob - The rest of you get about your business without any trouble
Bob leaves with Bea and Beth
Kath is still pinning Leanne to her bed
Kath - So this brings me to my next point....seeing as you are so close to Clements you can use this to my advantage
Leanne - Yeah how?
Kath - Each time I want Clements to do something, hear about something, anything like that you can be the one to ask her, tell her, or whatever. She will listen to you and care what you have to say....like if you get viciously beaten up, for example, you'll tell her who I tell you to tell her was the culprit
Brumby and Cassie are grinning in the corridor outside the closed door as Leanne screams out in pain
The visitor's room
Bea and Beth are shown in by Bob
Beth spots Ben and smiles with delight, she rushes over
Bea spots Chloe and Thelma
Kath opens the cell door and drags a beaten Leanne out into the corridor. Leanne is crying
Kath - Get along to Clements and tell her exactly what I told you to say, got that?
Leanne nods her head and staggers off clutching her side
Kath turns to Brumby and Cassie
Kath - Good girls keeping nit like that....you can help yourself to something from the supplies as a reward
Brumby - Gee Kath thanks!
Cassie - Yes thanks Kath
Kath smiles but with an air of menace
Kath - Remember to be sensible, don't be greedy. If you take too much you will be expected to pay for it.
Cassie - Yeah no worries Kath, we'll be sensible. A joint each?
Kath nods her head
Kath - Yes, that will be fine
The rec room
Judy sheepishly approaches Shirley and Janice
Judy - G'day!
Janice - Rack off!
Judy - Hey I'm only trying to be friendly
Janice - Any mate of Smiths is no mate of ours right Shirl?
Shirley - Yeah right
Janice - And besides, you took that money that was meant for those poor kids
Judy walks off and approaches Lorna
Judy - Hey Lorn, good to see ya....its been a few years hasn't it
Lorna turns her back on Judy
Judy - Come on Lorn, it's ya old mate Jude?
Lorna ignores her
Judy approaches Helen
Judy - Look Hel, I need you to understand
Helen - Understand what Jude? You won't tell me anything
Judy - Because I can't, that's why
Helen looks bitter
Helen - But you told Bea didn't you?
Judy - Maybe
Helen -come in Jude, there is no maybe about it. I know you told Bea the reason
Judy - Does it matter if I did or not?
Helen - Sure it matters..I thought I was your friend too
Judy - Of course you are
Helen - But you won't tell me, you'll only tell Bea?
Judy - Helen, please...I really need a friend right now
Helen looks bitter
Helen - You've got one.....Bea. So go talk to her, I'm not interested
Helen leaves the room
Judy looks around the room, she looks distressed
Judy - WHY WON'T ANYONE UNDERSTAND GODDAMNIT!
The woman ignore her
Leanne staggers along a corridor and bumps into Meg
Meg - My God, who did this to you?
Leanne - I need to see Mrs Clements right now!
Meg - Of course, I'll take you there right away
Meg helps Leanne along the corridor
The visitor's room
Beth and Ben are sitting down together
Beth - It's so lovely to see you, sweetheart, it feels like it's been months since I saw you
Ben - I wanted to come sooner mum but I couldn't face it. It's been hard
Beth - I know darling...
Ben - I keep trying to make sense of what happened
Beth - So do I believe me
Ben - Were you really sleepwalking mum?
Beth - Oh yes
Ben - Rach and Nigel think you used that to try and cover it up
Beth- I didn't, I swear
Ben - Why did you drop the sleepwalking in court then?
Beth - I thought it was pointless pursuing it...and besides I wanted to be punished. If I'd got help sooner this wouldn't have happened
Ben - I feel like I've lost both parents
Beth - Oh darling you haven't. I'm still here...if you want me that is
Ben nods his head and fights back tears
Ben - I miss you, mum...
Beth - I miss you too darling
They hug warmly
Beth - I'm so very sorry I took your father away from you
Ben - I believe you did it in your sleep mum
Beth - Thanks, you have no idea how much it means to me to hear you say that
Bea is sitting across the room with Chloe and Thelma
Bea - I swear seeing you once a week is about the only thing keeping me sane in here love
Chloe and Thelma look troubled
Thelma - Chloe has exciting news for you, Bea
Bea - Oh yeah what's that love?
Chloe - I have discovered a talent for singing and dancing
Thelma - Yes her teachers at school think she has something special and could go a long way in the performing arts
Chloe -I have already won some awards for my singing and dancing in only a few months
Bea looks delighted
Bea - Hey good on ya love, I never knew you had such a talent
Chloe - Nor did i. I'm really excited about what the future could hold now
Bea - So you should be
Thelma - The thing is Chloe has been offered a place in one of the top-performing arts academies in Australia, it is extremely hard to get into this academy, you have to have a true talent
Bea - I'm very proud of you love...you can come in every week and tell me how you're getting on
Thelma bows her head as does Chloe
Thelma - The problem is the academy is in Brisbane Bea, if Chloe accepts a place we will be moving to Brisbane, it will be impossible to visit you once a week. In fact, we'd probably only be able to get over here a couple of times a year
The smile drops from Bea's face, she looks crushed
Leanne is with Sandra in the office
Sandra - Who did this to you?
Leanne - It was Shanice miss...
GATESLAM
PART 2
Back with Sandra and Leanne
Sandra looks angry
Sandra - Blast that fool Maxwell, I asked her to look after you!
Leanne - Oh miss it wasn't Kath's fault. She has been great to me, really looked after me. Shanice got me alone when Kath wasn't around. Kath tries her best but she just can't watch me all-day
Sandra nods her head
Sandra - Yes you're right. It's unfair to blame Maxwell for Battersby's actions. Well that brainless thug Battersby will be punished badly now
Ben brings two coffees over from the coffee machine
Ben - Where do we go from here then mum? You can't just rot in here for the next 8 years or longer
Beth - I have had a visit from a psychiatrist, Dr. Weissman. He seems a very nice man and he believes me. He is going to help me
Ben - That's good, I want you home where you belong
Beth - But we need to find a way to treat this and prevent me hurting or killing anyone else. I already tried to kill one of the women in here while sleepwalking, luckily I was stopped in time
Beth suddenly looks horrified
Beth - My god, it's only just sunk in the enormity of that. I was perhaps a mere few minutes away from adding a second victim. It doesn't bear thinking about
Ben - Don't dwell on it eh mum, she lived so just focus on that. Has this Dr. Weissman said much about the treatment available?
Beth - No not much but I'm guessing maybe hypnosis might be one option
Ben = Are you happy to do that mum?
Beth - I'll try anything if there's a chance it might help darling...I just wish Rachel would come and see me I miss her terribly
Ben -I could talk to her for you if you like mum
Beth - Oh would you?
Ben - Yes, I would like her to come and see you and support you. I want us to stick together as a family. We always did before and dad would want us to now
Beth smiles with joy
Bea puts on a brave face
Bea - Full of surprises you, take after that mother of yours
Chloe - I haven't accepted a place yet gran, we thought we should come and talk to you about it first
Bea - What for? You don't need my permission to do it
Thelma - We felt we should talk to you about it anyway
Bea - And Donald? What did he say?
Thelma - Donald was keen for Chloe to accept a place immediately and not risk letting the place get taken by anyone else. He didn't think we should delay it
Bea - He's right, you should accept it right away before the chance is gone
Chloe - You don't mind gran?
Bea - Why would I mind? You have to take this opportunity, it's an amazing chance for you
Chloe - But won't you miss me?
Bea - Of course, I'll miss you but you can't stay back just for me. I can't expect you to either. You have to think of yourself not me
Chloe hugs Bea
Chloe - I love you gran
Bea - I love you too...I want you to write to me as often as you can, let me know how you're getting on
Chloe - I will, I promise
Shanice is stood before Sandra
Sandra - You know why you're here of course
Shanice - I bloody don't know! Mrs Morris just came and got me and told me I was in trouble and I had no idea what I done wrong!
Sandra - Oh spare me the act Battersby, I won't fool for it
Shanice - It's no act, I swear I am clueless!
Sandra - For once you speak the truth, you are indeed clueless. Clueless, ignorant, and extremely stupid. Well now you can go to solitary for 48 hours
Shanice snaps
Shanice - WHAT THE HELL FOR? I NEVER DONE NOTHING I TOLD YA!
Sandra - DO NOT SHOUT AT ME, I CAN ALWAYS MAKE IT LONGER!
Meg leads an angry Shanice out
Shanice - I never done nothing!
Sandra sits back in her seat looking angry

The Luckless Mage of Greidwhen Academy
A TOURNAMENT OF SORCERERS… AND THE MISFIT WHO ENTERED IT. Ever since she was a little girl, Lucy Hardtvelt has wanted to attend the same academy of magic her mother had graduated from, as well as compete in the same, famous Sorcerers Tournament hosted there every year. And finally, after having her application accepted, Lucy is jubilant to begin her first year at the prestigious Greidwhen Academy for Mages. Unfortunately, Lucy soon finds that, unlike her mother, she herself has little to no aptitude in the magical arts—struggling to keep even the most basic of spells from blowing up in her face. Now, having been given a harsh dose of reality, Lucy must find out if she has what it takes not only to survive at Greidwhen, but also the Sorcerer’s Tournament and its one-thousand contestants where the winner will be given the title of Champion Sorcerer, as well as the right to challenge the Celestial Mages—who are known to have been defeated only a handful of times…

Writer here:I wrote a couple of chapters for a project of mine, just posting here for critique. Hate it, love it? Please leave a comment or review. The first few chapters can be pretty peculiar, however please bear with it.
8 158Rising To The Ancients
Once again I ain't got any ideas for my Synopsis yet. Sorry bout that.
8 213Martial World
This story is about a guy who gets whisked off to another world to find out that he is so strong that the only battles he loses are the ones against himself, as our MC finds out this new world might not be so bad. The more time he spends there the less he finds himself missing his home.
8 99Your Mundane Transmigration Into Another World
My second fiction here, it might be similar to the first, but I will focus on improving consistency as it was not very good. The idea is to make a completely ordinary isekai story, but make it right - no cliche, some originality etc. I do not yet know where it will go, but it will involve dungeons at some point, transmigraiton, demons, elves, humans, undead. I will strive for regular updates every friday, but my writing speed is that of a slime (not a native speaker), so I might not deliver every week. Feel free to write what you think, I welcome feedback. HIATUS - will continue after I am done with my other book, I am unable to write two at the same time.
