Bea is still with Sandra

Bea - So that is all there is to it. The girl was bringing the drugs in for Ford....the drugs that killed three of the girls.

Sandra - And because of that you killed her?

Bea - I didn't intend to kill her but in the end, I was so mad that it just happened

Sandra - She was my only child Smith!

Bea - She was a drug pusher, if you expect me to be sorry you'll be disappointed. She was no great loss to the world

Sandra looks ready to fly into a rage but keeps calm

Sandra - Ford was making her do it, she wouldn't have done it willingly

Bea gives a nasty chuckle

Bea - It went on for months, she could have ended it if she really wanted to. She chose to carry on and shall I tell you the reason she chose to carry on?

Sandra - Well that's clear enough to me, she wanted to protect Steve

Bea shakes her head

Bea - Nah...it was because she was getting a cut of the profits, that's the real reason. And that makes her a sick bitch

Sandra - You know something Smith, I knew I wasn't going to forgive you but I was actually hoping you might show even the smallest hint of remorse for what you did. That might have helped a little. But no, not a bit of it. That means I will show you absolutely no mercy when I do eventually fix you

Bea is unfazed

Bea - And when do you plan to fix me?

Sandra - You won't know, I'll surprise you...not I'll call Miss Bennett back and she can take you to your block

Bea looks slightly unnerved by Sandra's cool demeanor

The laundry

Lorna is on the press

Jessie arrives

Jessie - G'day ladies...they let me out of the infirmary. Said I should come along here, see if you needed a hand

Leanne - G'day, how are you feeling?

Jessie - Ok I suppose

Lorna - We're sorry about Lexie love

Jessie nods her head and looks upset

Jessie - So am I believe me

Lorna - Such a rotten way to go

Leanne smirks

Leanne - But we gave Cunningham a special send-off right gals

They all laugh and cheer

Lorna - Yeah he got what he deserved....you would have been pleased if you'd seen it, Jess

Jessie gives a weak smile

Jessie - Thanks girls, I'm sure Lexie appreciates it where ever she is

Jessie joins Leanne at the folding table and Leanne looks at Lorna

Leanne - How does it feel to be on that thing Lorn?

Lorna - It feels good, in all the years I've been here I've never had the chance to have a go on it until now!

Shirley - I'd make the most of it if I were you, I can't see you staying there for long

Leanne - And who asked you, newcomer?

Shirley shrugs

Shirley - Just offering an opinion that's all. It's clear to me that Lorna is not top dog material

Jessie - Until Kath comes back I take it?

Leanne - Why Kath?

Jessie shrugs

Jessie - Seems to me shes the only candidate around right now

Leanne - Yeah unless Cheryl wants the job again

Jessie - But she didn't really want it back again, to begin with, remember

Leanne - Yeah, that's true enough

Leanne looks at Shirley with a smirk

Leanne - Let's see if you're so full of your smart arse opinions when Kath gets back and hears how you pinched her boyfriend eh

Shirley - I find it hard to believe that this Kath is as hard as you say really

Leanne - You'll find out

Lorna - Ok Lee, stop stirring eh. You've certainly come out of your shell from the timid thing that first arrived here

Vera arrives in the doorway with Bea

Vera - This is Smith ladies, of course, some of you will know her already

Lorna looks delighted

Lorna - Hey Bea, good to see ya again!

Brumby is with Sandra

Sandra - Escaping eh? You're a fool that's all I can say. Barnehurst is the easiest of all the prisons to be in and you blow your chance to stay there. Frankly, you were lucky to get a chance to go there at all with your record for escapes

Brumby shrugs

Brumby - It's boring down there, at least here there's a bit of excitement

Sandra - There are some bad ladies in here Michelle and I hate to see you younger ones get mixed up in it

Brumby rolls her eyes

Brumby - God you're just like that stupid cow Ms Hollands...she's still here I suppose?

Sandra - No she is not

Brumby looks pleased

Brumby - Least that's something eh

The dining room

Bea is sitting with Lorna, Jessie, and Leanne

Bea - So how long have you been top dog love?

Lorna - Only since today

Bea - I'm pleased for ya

Lorna - Cheers....don't you want the job back yourself?

Bea - Nah not really, I'm a bit tired of being top dog. Reckon I'll settle down to a quiet life now

Lorna - The thing is I really don't know if I'm up to the job

Bea - Well at least give yourself a chance. You've only been top dog for five minutes

Lorna - Yeah suppose...

Bea - Listen what's got into Bennett? She's being all sweetness and light..she greeted me back with a smile and said how pleased she was to see me

Leanne - She's always been like that since I've been here

Jessie nods along too

Jessie - Yeah Bennett seems alright

Bea - Trust me, you didn't know her before and this is not normal for her

Lorna - I dunno Bea, she just seemed to change overnight, She even does typing classes now

Bea - Well I find it unsettling, I think I prefer it when she is nasty. At least you know where you stand then

Lorna chuckles

Lorna - Yeah, I know what ya mean

Bea - Another thing, what do we know about our governor?

Lorna - Not much, only that she came in undercover

Bea looks surprised

Bea - Did she? So a clever one then?

Jessie - Yeah, I'd say she's one to watch for sure. Something about her I don't like but I can't quite put my finger on it

Leanne - Hey, Sandra's alright! She nice to me anyway

Bea raises an eyebrow

Bea - Is she?

Sandra is with Dwyer, eating lunch in a posh restaurant

Sandra - So I saw her and can you believe the bitch wasn't even the least bit sorry for what she did

Dwyer - Did you really expect her to be?

Sandra takes a mouthful of food and washes it down with some wine

Sandra - No I suppose not really, the woman is clearly the scum of the earth

Dwyer - One thing I will say about Smith is she keeps whichever prison she ends up in relatively clean from drugs which always look good for the department. Other than that the woman is a menace, always at the center of riots, fires, bashings, murders

Sandra - So you would not be too sad to be rid of her for good?

Dwyer sips his wine and smirks

Dwyer - Not at all...what do you have planned for her?

Sandra - I'm not quite sure yet and I don't intend to rush it either. Smith isn't going anywhere and I want to make it damn good, Smith deserves only the best I can give her...so I will plan it out nice and carefully. By the time I'm done with her Smith will be begging me to kill her to end her suffering...just begging

Sandra has an evil expression on her face as she takes another mouthful of food

The women are still in the dining room as Brumby arrives and gets a meal

Lorna - Hey Tucker, when did you get back?

Brumby sits at Lorna and Bea's table

Brumby - This morning

Bea - Back? Where did you go?

Brumby = Barnehurst....bit of a surprise seeing you back here Bea

Bea - I came back today as well

Brumby - To tell you the truth it's good to see a few familiar faces. Where are some of the others? Kath, Chez, Ailsa. Louise, Kelly?

Jessie pushes her half-eaten meal away

Jessie - Think I'll go to my cell for a lie down before work starts again

Leanne - But you've hardly touched it

Jessie -Don't feel very hungry

Jessie gets up and leaves looking downbeat

Brumby - Who's the fatty then? She's new

Brumby looks at Leanne

Brumby - You're new too, gosh it's all different here now

Leanne - I'm Leanne

Brumby - I'm Michelle, but you can call me Brumby

Leanne pulls a face

Leanne - Brumby?!

Lorna - Anyway love what happened at Barnehurst? I thought you went there to sort things out with your mother?

Brumby shrugs

Brumby - Yeah well it didn't work out did it

Janice arrives in the room and gets a meal. She sits with Shirley who is sat alone

Janice - Ok if I sit here?

Shirley - Yeah sure

Bea and Brumby look in shock

Brumby - She's never in here on our side of the bars is she?

Lorna - Yes Brum, she is

Bea and Brumby look stunned

Back at Janice and Shirley's table, Janice plays with her food and sighs

Janice - You're the only one who will give me the time of day

Shirley - Are you really that surprised?

Janice - No I suppose I'm not... I just hope in time they will decide to give me a chance

Mrs Fowler and a man are in reception as Sandra arrives back from lunch. She glances over

Sandra - Mrs Fowler?

Mrs Fowler - Yes and this is my husband

Sandra - You've come to see Leanne I take it?

Mr Fowler sighs heavily

Mr Fowler - I didn't want to but it seems you did a good job convincing my wife

Mrs Fowler looks upset

Mrs Fowler - It was when you reminded me that she is still my daughter that I felt we had to come and see her Mrs Clements

Sandra looks happy

Sandra - Well i am pleased, I'll take you through right away, follow me

They make their way from reception into the main prison

Mrs Fowler - Please try and be kind to Leanne won't you?

Mr Fowler sighs again

Mr Fowler - Well I'll try. but after the way, she let us down so badly...

The laundry

Lorna is again on the press as Brumby sticks a piece of chewing gum in her mouth and smirks cheekily

Brumby - I thought you were joking when you said you were on the press Lorn, I'm sorry

Lorna - It's ok, I guess most people wouldn't believe it

Brumby - I find it hard to think that you will stay there long, I'm sorry

Shirley chips in

Shirley - I agree, said the same thing myself

Bea glares at Shirley and Brumby

Bea - Look you two, Lorn's a mate ok so either support her or shut up

Brumby - Ok sure...

Bea looks Shirley up and down

Bea - And we don't like newcomers shooting their mouths off either

Brumby - Yeah, we all saw you sitting with her at lunch

Shirley - I felt sorry for her that's all, she's done nothing to me

Lorna =- Yeah so we advise you to keep away from her if you know what's good for you

Shirley - I'll talk to whoever I want, but thanks for the advice gals

Shirley returns to her work and gets dirty looks from the others. Bea lights a fag

Sandra arrives in the room

Sandra - Filson, you have a visitor

Leanne - Yeah who?

Sandra - Come along and find out

As they are about to leave Sandra spots Bea smoking and snatches the cigarette from her mouth

Sandra - No smoking in the laundry Smith

Lorna speaks from the press

Lorna - Since when?

Sandra - Since now, its a new rule

Lorna - You never mentioned it before

Sandra - Well I'm mentioning it now, anyone caught smoking in here will be punished

Sandra throws the cigarette to the floor and leaves with Leanne

The visitor's room

Mr Fowler has sat arms folded across his chest. Mrs Fowler is sat looking nervous

Across the room, Ronnie Kennedy is sitting with a visitor as are a few other prisoners and Janice has a visitor too - Eileen

Eileen - Oh Janice, just as I thought we might be rebuilding our relationship you go and let me down all over again

Janice - I didn't do it mother, I swear?

Eileen shakes her head with sorrow

Eileen - I simply don't believe you, I'm sorry. You always were a loose canon and since Tommy went you've been dying to take it out on someone

Janice - Listen mother with your connections you could help me get out of here, i know you could

Eileen - Maybe ... the question is do I want to?

Janice - You do surely? I'm your daughter remember?...we've bonded a bit since Tommy and Maureen left, you said it yourself just now

Eileen - I also said that once again you have ruined everything

Janice raises her voice in anger

Janice - And I told you I didn't do it!

The others in the room glance over at the raised voice

Mr Fowler looks at his wife

Mr Fowler - How much longer do we have to wait? This place is dreadful

Mrs Fowler - I'm sure it won't be too much longer, just be patient

Eileen - Well if you're going to talk to me like that I think I'll go

Eileen goes to get up as Janice stops her

Janice - Please mother don't go, I need your help

Janice - Oh please yes, I can't stay in here, they all hate me! Use your power and your contacts to help me out

Ronnie and the other prisoners and their visitors glance over and roar with laughter. Mr and Mrs Fowler look too

Mr Fowler leaps out of his chair

Mr Fowler - Right that does it! I'm not hanging around in this madhouse a minute longer!

Mrs Fowler - oh please love just hang on a few more minutes

Mr Fowler storms to the door as Sandra and Leanne appear

The laughter continues

Sandra - What's all the noise?

Sandra looks around and spots Janice on her knees

Sandra - What on earth are you doing Raymond? Is this the cause of this disruption?

Ronnie - She's begging mummy to help Mrs Clements!

More laughter

Sandra - Get back into your chair or the visits over!

Eileen gets up

Eileen - Well I was leaving anyway

Janice calls after her

Janice - No mother please wait! Will you help me, please?

Sandra - Shut up Raymond!....and that goes for the rest of you too unless you want your visits to end

The room settles down

Leanne looks at her parents

Leanne - Hi mum, dad

Mrs Fowler suddenly gets up in tears and hugs her daughter

Back in the visitor's room

Leanne and her parents are sitting down

Leanne - It's good to see you both, I mean that

Mrs Fowler - It's good to see you too

Leanne - Why has it taken you both so long to come?

Mrs Fowler - We wanted to come...

She pauses and glances at her husband

Mrs Fowler - Well I wanted to come sooner, but we were both very angry with you you know. You did let us down

Mr Fowler - Indeed yes. marrying so young like that. I knew it was a mistake right from the start!

Leanne - You still could have supported me

Mr Fowler - We told you what we wanted, what we expected from you, you ignored it

Leanne looks angry

Leanne - I am still your daughter. You should have stuck by me not abandoned me. I needed you both. I had an abusive bastard for a husband, a baby I couldn't cope with. It was all too much

Mr Fowler - Yes and look what you did to the poor little boy!

Leanne - I couldn't cope, it all got too much. I regret what I did to him

Mr Fowler - Nothing can change what you did!

Mrs Fowler looks fretful

Mrs Fowler - Come on now, let's keep calm shall we

Leanne - No mum, I won't keep calm. You both need to know that my baby might still be alive if you had supported me

Mr Fowler gets up to leave

Mr Fowler swings back around angrily and yells

Mr Fowler - YOU KILLED YOUR BABY!... YOU DID IT..NO ONE ELSE! SO DON'T TRY AND PASS THE BLAME ON TO US!

Ronnie, Janice, and the other prisoners have heard and look over in shock. A worried Leanne looks around at them all and then looks at an equally worried-looking Sandra

Mr Fowler - Now I'm leaving, I'll wait outside

Mr Fowler leaves

Leanne looks bitterly at her mother

Leanne - You should go to

Mrs Fowler is crying

Mrs Fowler - I'd like us to talk more love

Leanne - Yeah well I wouldn't, just piss off, will you!

The rec room

Bea and Lorna are playing pool. Brumby and Jessie are sitting at the tv. Shirley has sat alone in the corner with a book

Bea looks over at Shirley

Bea - I'm not sure I trust that one

Lorna - No nor am i...I know she showed an interest in the top dog position

Bea - None of us know her well enough yet to let her have that

Lorna nods her head in agreement

Bea - You're doing a good job, we don't need Shirley

Lorna - You reckon I'm doing a good job, really?

Bea - Course, I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it

Lorna looks touched

Lorna - What if she tries to fight me for it?

They all roar cruelly with laughter

Janice is bright red in the face with anger

Janice- Quiet the lot of you!

Bea - Sorry love but you can't give us orders anymore can you

Brumby - Yeah too right! You're nothing now, just one of the scum!

Janice pulls Brumby from her chair and slaps her in the face

Janice- You little bitch Tucker! This place was so much more pleasant while you were away

The women crowd around Janice

Bea - Say sorry to Brumby for hitting her

Janice - Like hell I will!

Lorna - Say sorry before we hurt ya!

Janice looks at Ronnie

Janice - Are you going to tell them all what else happened in the visitor's room or shall I?

Ronnie - Yeah nice way to take the heat off yourself eh

Bea looks at Ronnie with an inquisitive expression

Bea - What else happened Ron?

Ronnie- Well it turns out that our little friend Leanne isn't here for being a poor little innocent victim of an abusive husband after all and she didn't kill him at all....she killed her baby boy
