The rottweiler is laying on the ground with blood pouring from its head. Kath is holding a blood-stained garden spade
Shanice - Oh Karen you've done it now! Kyle will be heartbroken
Kath stares at Shanice with a hostile expression on her face
Kath - I asked you several times to call the damn thing off and you just stood there laughing...I was defending myself against a dangerous animal
Shanice - If you say so Karen
Kath - I do, that dog was clearly trying to attack me...now pick the damn thing up and get it out of my garden!
Shanice - You expect me to lift him by myself? He's very heavy
Kath - Do it! Or you'll find out what this spade feels like!
Shanice - You're a violent woman! Well, I'll warn you, this isn't over Karen!
Kath snaps
Kath - MY NAMES KATH YOU STUPID COW! NOT KAREN, KATH!
Blackmoor
Joan and Bea continue to stare each other out, both pointing their guns
Bea - You never know when to stop do you, Ferguson. I actually thought we were starting to reach some sort of understanding
Joan chuckles
Joan - HA! You and I reach an understanding? Never! After what you did to Shane I'll...
Bea cuts her off
Bea - I'm so sick of going over all this now Ferguson. I'm the first to admit I truly hated you once and wanted to get you but now I'm bored of it
Joan -I'm sure you are. You killed my Shane so I'm sure you're satisfied now....but I'm not
Joan glances at Ann while keeping her gun trained on Bea
Joan - And as for you Reynolds, trying to team up with Len to get me, not a wise move that
Ann - What do you expect me to do Ferguson? You murdered my daughter and set my son up for it. I can't....no correction I WON'T sit back and let you get away with it
Joan - There won't be much you can do about it if you're dead is there
Ann - Please Ferguson, just end this now. Do the right thing and own up to what you've done. I'm appealing to the decency that I know you have inside you somewhere
Joan - You and Morris deserved all you got for what you did to me...you and Connors all working together
Ann - Think again Ferguson, you're wrong if you truly believe that what Meg and I did deserved that response from you. You've killed people as an answer to getting back at us
Bea - I'd save your breath Mrs Reynolds, you can't reason with Ferguson
Joan - Shut up Smith
Bea - Are we shooting each other or what? I'm a bit bored of this now
Joan turns her gun onto Ann
Joan - You'll keep Smith, I'll just shoot Reynolds instead
Bea - You won't.....
Joan - Yes I will
Bea - I'm going to pull this trigger right now if you do....then you die and I live, that will be amusing won't it
Joan - You'll both keep
Joan leaves the room. Bea puts her gun down and sighs with relief
Bea - Are you ok Mrs Reynolds?
Ann grabs Bea's gun and runs out of the room with it. Bea runs after her panic-stricken
Shanice is sitting in her lounge smoking as Kyle comes in
Kyle - Hey ma!
Shanice - Hey my darling
Kyle - I'm gonna take prince down the park with me and my mates
Kyle begins to leave
Shanice gets out of her seat and stops him

Shanice - I have bad news darling
Blackmoor
Joan meets Marie in a corridor and hands her the gun
Joan - Keep this safe for me, I may need it again at some point
Marie nods her head
Marie - No worries Fergo
Kyle is in the garden kneeling beside his dogsbody crying. Shanice is beside him hugging him
Shanice - Oh my poor baby! Let it all out darling, a good old cry will make you feel better!
Kyle - Who did it? Who killed my prince?
Shanice - Oh I don't know if I can tell you darling...it may be best if you don't know
Kyle angrily yells
Kyle - TELL ME MA! TELL ME WHO KILLED HIM!...WAS IT JERRY? IS THAT WHY YOU DON'T WANT TO TELL ME? SO YOU CAN PROTECT HIM?
Shanice remains silent
Kyle leaps up
Kyle - I'LL KILL HIM! HE WAS ALWAYS THREATENING TO HURT PRINCE! I NEVER BELIEVED HE'D HAVE THE GUTS TO DO IT!.... I'LL BLOODY KILL HIM!
Kyle runs back towards to house and Shanice chases after him
Shanice - KYLE STOP!
Blackmoor
Joan is back in her isolation cell as Ann arrives and points the gun at her
Ann - I want you to own up to what you've done Ferguson. I want my son released from prison
Joan - I told you you can whistle for it
Ann - You'll own up or so help me I'll.....
Joan - You'll what? Shoot me? That might earn you your revenge but it won't get Paul out will it? You need me, to tell the truth, and get him out and that won't happen if I'm dead will it
Ann - Will you confess and get my son his freedom back?
Joan - It depends
Ann - On what?
Joan - On whether you're prepared to lie and say Smith shot Murphy, I was nowhere near at the time.
Ann nods her head
Ann - Ok I can lie
Joan - Good, that will do for a start
Ann looks angry
Ann - What do you mean for a start? What else do you want from me?
Joan smirks
Joan - I'll have a think about that and let ya know when I come up with something. In the meantime make sure you do this first favour for me and that will help towards securing Paul's release
Janice arrives in the garden looking irate and marches over to Vera
Cheryl and Chrissie are watching from a distance
Chrissie - UH-OH! Looks like old Vinegar tits is for the high jump!
Janice - A word please Vera!
Vera Smiles at Janice
Vera - Come to join us in the sunshine have you?
Janice - I came to ask you what do you think you're playing at allowing the women on an outside rec? This is not the allocated time and you know that
Vera - But I thought it was such a lovely day it seemed a shame for them to be stuck in that dreary laundry
Janice - Listen, Bennett, if this is some kind of game, some attempt to cause trouble I'll warn you now that...
Vera - It's no game I assure you, I'm just showing the women some kindness...
Janice - Well you never have before
Vera - And I have finally learned the error of my ways after all these years...better late than never I suppose!
Vera chuckles and shakes her head
Vera - Maybe you should take a leaf out of my book to Jan!
Janice - Just get back inside and get on with your shift, I'll get the women back in

Vera - As you wish
Vera strolls off humming to herself, Janice watches her go with a look of bemusement and then turns to look at the women
Janice -OK YOU LOT THE PARTIES OVER! YOU CAN ALL RETURN TO THE LAUNDRY NOW!
Blackmoor
Ann is in a corridor as Bea runs into her
Bea - Oh there you are Mrs Reynolds, I came to look for you
Ann - Really, why?
Bea - I was worried what you might do with that gun...you haven't done anything foolish with it, have you?
Ann - Like shootings Ferguson you mean?
Bea - Yes
Ann - Ferguson is fine Smith...and now if you'll excuse me I need to deal with the dead body up in isolation
Bea - Listen, Mrs. Reynolds, I know I have no right to ask this but is there any way you can lie for me and say I wasn't even present when Ferguson killed Murphy? I'm doing well right now as top dog, I can help you with your reforms. But I can't do that if I am in the pound as an accessory
Ann - Yes I'll leave your name out of it
Bea - Thanks Mrs Reynolds
Ann looks guilty
Jeremy is in his room as Kyle bursts in and drags him off his bed
Kyle - YOU BASTARD JERRY! WHY DID YOU DO IT!
Jeremy looks confused
Jeremy - Do what bro?
Kyle -- YOU KNOW WHAT YOU JERK! YOU KILLED HIM!
Jeremy - I dunno what you're on about, have you been drinking?
Kyle raises a fist
Kyle - I'm gonna put you in intensive care for this!
Shanice runs in and pulls Kyle off
Shanice - It was that bitch next door, she killed Prince
The laundry
Chrissie - You reckon Bennett has lost it, Cheryl?
Cheryl - How the hell do I know! She sure wasn't acting her usual self though
Jenny - Maybe it's this place getting to her, affecting her mind
Cheryl chuckles
Cheryl- Maybe you're right sister!
Jenny - I know how she feels, I feel like I'm going insane in here, I just want to get out
Chrissie - Yeah well we all feel like that don't we
Jenny - Well I shouldn't even be here! I was set up!
Cheryl rolls her eyes
Cheryl - Not that again Hartley for god sake!
Jenny - Well it's the truth! I'm sorry if hearing it annoys you, it annoys me more having to say it believe me
Chrissie - So don't say it then eh!
Chrissie and Cheryl giggle
Jenny - IT'S NOT FUNNY! I HAVE TO SAY IT BECAUSE I HOPE EVENTUALLY IF I SAY IT ENOUGH TIMES SOMEONE WILL LISTEN, BUT I GUESS I'M WRONG AS USUAL!
Jenny storms out of the laundry in a huff
Blackmoor
Ann is in isolation with Inspector Grace and various others and the body of Len
Grace - Well it was only a matter of time really
Ann - I suppose so
Grace - Anyone who makes themselves as unpopular as Murphy did is always going to be living on borrowed time
Ann - I knew something like this would happen as soon as he was moved here
Grace - It wouldn't have mattered where he was moved he was always going to be high risk....anyway I have to ask you a few questions now if you don't mind?
Ann - Of course not inspector
Grace - First of all I must ask you did you witness the crime or merely find the body?
Ann - Oh I witnessed it alright, I was right here in the room as it happened
Grace - I see. that must have been very traumatic for you?
Ann - Yes it was rather
Grace - So I'm sure you can work out my next question....who did the deed?
Ann - That was Smith...Bea Smith
Grace - Really? I was expecting you to say, Ferguson, seeing as she's to blame for everything else that happens
Ann - No Ferguson wasn't even here, she was tucked up in her isolation cell over the other side of the prison
Grace - This makes a refreshing change I must say
Bea is in the rec room with Margo
Bea - So he's dead
Margo - And Fergo pulled the trigger?
Bea - Yeah...so no one can pin it on me
Margo - But hell Bea, you were there, and you wanted to pull the trigger yourself, you're an accessory
Bea smirks
Bea - Even if I had pulled the trigger myself I wasn't planning to get caught for it. I was planning to set the freak up. The fact she pulled the trigger just makes it easier on me
Margo - But you were still there...
Bea - Reynolds is going to lie for me, I'm in the clear
Two officers enter the room and approach Bea
Officer - Come with us please Smith
Kath is in her lounge as a lump of concrete smashes through the window and narrowly misses her
Kath leaps out of her seat in shock
Kyle is outside
Kyle - YOU MURDERING BITCH! I HATE YOU YOU BITCH!
Shanice is with him
Shanice - YOU HEAR THIS KAREN! MY BOY IS BROKEN-HEARTED THANKS TO YOU! I HOPE YOU'RE PROUD OF YOURSELF!
Kath - YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE LET THE THING LOOSE ON ME I TOLD YOU ALREADY!
Kyle - COME OUT HERE AND FACE ME YOU, MURDERER!
Kyle picks up some more concrete off the pile of rubble and looks ready to throw that through the window too
Kyle -COME OUT NOW OR I THROW ANOTHER SLAB IN!
Shanice stops him
Shanice - Leave it kiddo, we'll tell dad about it right, he'll know what to do
Shanice leads him away
Blackmoor
An angry Bea is in the interview room with Grace
Bea - This is bull! I wasn't even there
Grace - That's not what my witness says
Bea - And who is your witness? Whoever they are they are a bloody liar
Grace - It's none other than the governor herself, Mrs Reynolds
Bea looks surprised and angry
Jenny is alone in her cell drinking Whisky as Vera arrives in the doorway
Vera - Having a little drink I see Hartley?
Jenny - Yes and I suppose you're here to take it away from me, report me to the governor? Well go ahead I don't care anymore
Vera - Don't be silly Hartley, the old me would have I know but not now. Now I can understand you need a drink to make life a little more bearable in here
Jenny looks shocked
Vera - In all honesty, I could do with some myself
Jenny holds the bottle out
Jenny - Well you're free to join me Miss Bennett
Vera - Oh thanks that's very kind, not sure it's such a good idea though!
Jenny - Well suit yourself Miss Bennett
Vera stands looking tempted
The staffroom
Janice is there with Jim
Janice - You know Vera quite well don't you Jim?
Jim - I wouldn't say that exactly...Vera is a hard woman for anyone to get to know that well
Janice - Well you've known her a long time then?
Jim - Yes
Janice - You would know better than most if she was acting strangely wouldn't you?
Jim - Yes I suppose so
Janice - I would like you to keep an eye on her for me for a little while, let me know if she's acting weirdly at all. Can you do that?
Jim - Yes no problem...can I ask why?
Janice - I caught her giving the women an unscheduled rec period
Jim looks stunned
Jim - That's not like Vera, she's a stickler for the rules
Janice - Yes exactly, so you can see why I want you to keep an eye on her for me
Des is home
Des - I see the rubble is still there..poor old Karen and Jimbo eh
Shanice - Yeah
They both laugh
Shanice - Kyle is a bit upset
Des - Why?
Shanice - Rottweilers dead.....Karen killed it
Des - You mean she's actually managed to make up for them smashing our stereo?
Shanice nods her head
Shanice - Yeah, good eh. Of course, I wasn't counting on her killing it when I set it loose on her but part of me was secretly hoping she might and she didn't let me down!
Des - I've been wanting shot of that thing for months!
Shanice - Me too! It was a pain in the flaming arse. I wish we'd never bought Kyle the thing
Des nods his head in agreement
GATESLAM
PART 2
Vera and Jenny are drinking together
Vera - Of course, old Birdsworth liked a drink!...you never met her, did you?
Jenny shakes her head
Vera - She was a harmless enough old thing really....a pain in the arse though most of the time
They both giggle stupidly
Vera - Still I liked her, I never admitted it but I did. I had a soft spot for her
Vera is tearful
Kyle is in the garden digging a grave for the dog as Des joins him
Des - Your mum told me about the dog fella, I'm sorry
Kyle - Yeah well I wanna know what we're gonna do to her for this!
Des - You leave that to your old dad eh son, I'll think of something
Back with Vera and Jenny
They are both drunk
Vera - Old and hard before your time Vera, that's what she used to say. She was so cruel to me
Jenny looks sympathetic
Jenny - Sounds like my nana. She was a monster, a controlling monster. She faked a lot of her illness just to keep me at her beck and call. She faked a lot of it just to force me to stay with her, she didn't want me to leave
Vera nods
Vera - I think my mother was the same...selfish old cow
Jenny - And of course, nothing I did could ever be good enough, I was breaking my back trying to look after her and keep her happy and it was never enough
Vera - Exactly like my mother...and she would say such cruel cruel things
Jenny - Do you miss her?
Vera - Yes, even after she was so cruel
Jenny - I miss nana too, I ask myself why constantly
Jim appears in the doorway and looks stunned
The police are with Kath
Kath - So you can see our window is smashed....now I want to know what you will do about this. They have already put a pile of rubble on our drive as you can see and now I have their son smashing my windows
Policewoman - Yes ... I must ask you have you done anything to provoke them?
Kath is angry
Kath - Even if I had it doesn't mean it's alright for their son to smash our windows!
Policeman - No one is saying it is Mrs Maxwell, we just want to get to the bottom of why this has happened
Kath - It's happened because they are a bunch of lunatics that's why
Policeman - And there is nothing more you need to tell us?
Kath sighs
Kath - Well I did kill their son's dog....but I had a good reason
Jim and Vera are in the staffroom as Jim hands Vera a cup of coffee
Jim - Drink that
Vera - I don't want it
Jim - Tough, you need it
Vera - I should be getting on with my rounds
Jim - In that condition? No way, I'm calling you a taxi and you can go home and sleep it off
Vera - I'm fine Jim!
Jim - Jan said you were acting weird, and Kath and I were concerned about you last night. i wasn't prepared for this though. Drinking with a prisoner, its seriously out of character
Vera - It's no big deal. We were just talking that's all, as it happens we found we had a lot more in common than either of us could ever have imagined
Jim - I'll have to report this, I hope you realize that?
Vera - Why? There was no harm done
Jim - It was a serious breach of the rules and regulations that you are usually so fond of and you know it
Vera turns nasty
Vera - Yes well having relations with an ex-prisoner is too and you know that. So maybe I'll tell Jan all about that as well...but of course, if you keep my secret I'm happy to keep yours. It's up to you really Jim
Jim looks angry
Jim - Blackmailing me Vera?
Vera - You can call it what you like
Jim - I'll let it go this time...but I want you to go home and sober up
Vera - And I want to stay and finish my shift
Vera gets up and leaves the room
The police are talking to Shanice and Des on their doorstep as Kath stands at the top of the driveway
Shanice - My boy is upset officers...and he had good reason to be. Karen killed his dog you see
Kath - I only did that because it attacked me
Des - Yes and we don't blame you for it...we are grateful you finally got rid of the savage mutt for us
Shanice - Yes and we don't wish to lay charges officers, the dog was savage and Karen had every right to kill it. As far as we're concerned the matters over
Kath = Well as far as I'm concerned it isn't. There is still the matter of the rubble on our driveway, our car, and the broken window
Shanice - I don't want any more trouble, I want us all to get along
Des - I'll have the rubble removed for you and the windows repaired, how does that sound?
Shanice - Not that we admit any part in it, of course, the rubble I mean...we just want to be nice seeing as you did us a favour and Kyle did smash your windows. If we can resolve this without Kyle being in trouble I'd like to
The officers look at Kath
Policeman - Sounds fair to me, might be the best way to draw a line under this?
Kath - And what about our car?
Shanice - Oh come on Karen! We had nothing to do with the rubble, we are offering to have it removed for you out of the kindness of our hearts, you can't expect us to pay for your damaged car as well

8 100Mindfulness
"Mindfulness? What do you mean Bradley?" I was speechless and I wasn't able to comprehend."You already know Stef, you can understand it by the way I look at you, I'm completely aware of what I feel, we have families and I have a daughter, but nothing will take me away from you. You are my Zweisamkeit, you know what I mean?" I looked at him, he was smiling and it was the best smile in the entire world. and I started to laugh. "I don't speak German Bradley, you know." "This word describes the self-imposed isolation of a couple in love. Their togetherness creates a kind of loneliness around the two of them. And you, you are the only one who makes me feel like this. I can't let you go and I have to tell you, I love you Stefani, more than the word can say, more than anything, I'm in love with you from the first day I met you at your home, you were smiling with your blonde hair messed up, and when you started to sing, I saw heaven. I use this world, Mindfulness because I'm aware of my feeling from the first time." He started to get closer to me and...
