Janice is standing over Ian's body as Ailsa arrives in the doorway. Ailsa looks shocked
Ailsa - Bloody hell what happened to him?
Janice - You should know Slater, you just attacked him and slashed his throat, I always said you were tuppence short of a dollar Slater
Ailsa - You're bleeding mad, I was nowhere near him!
Janice - I know...but who else knows that? Only us two right and you're going to confess to it
Ailsa - Like hell I am...
Ailsa turns to go and Janice grabs her and puts a hand around her throat
Janice - You will confess Slater!
Ailsa bites into Janice's arm, Janice slaps her in the face
Janice - You stupid old bat!
Janice puts the knife to her throat
Ailsa - Hey, what the hell are ya doing?
Janice - You wanna die Ailsa?...or you want Mandy or sweet little Connie to get hurt or killed?
Ailsa shakes her head
Janice forces the knife into her hand
Janice - Get a good grip on that so that your fingerprints are all over it
Ailsa does so
Janice - That's right very good, you killed poor old Mr Henderson didn't you Ailsa?
Ailsa doesn't respond so Janice chokes her
Janice - DIDN'T YOU AILSA!
Ailsa - YES...YES, I KILLED HIM! LET ME GO YOU'RE HURTING ME!
Janice - You just went crazy, lost it. We all know how you lose it at times Ailsa... like when you tried to burn two prisoners alive...now let's get you to the pound shall we, you're far too dangerous to be left roaming around after what you've done!
Janice leads Ailsa away
Spike is in the Marsh house office when there is a knock at the door, she goes to answer and Joan's associate is standing there
Inspector Thorne arrives at Wentworth's reception where Jim is at the desk
Thorne - Well well well g'day Mr Fletcher, long time no see
Jim - Inspector Thorne, what brings you here?
Thorne - It's been a few years and I see the old place has changed a bit...I thought you'd left years ago?
Jim - I did but I found my way back in the end
Thorne - Well I got a call from your governor Miss Raymond to report a serious incident here, do you know anything about it
Jim - No, this is the first I've heard about this. I best ring through to her office
Janice is in the governor's office with Vera who is now back in a uniform
Janice - I'm glad to see you got back into a uniform nice and prompt Miss Bennett...how does it feel? Comfortable I hope?
Vera - Never mind that I want to know why I was summoned back here? If it was just to torment me then don't bother, it's hardly professional
Janice - And of course, some of your activities as governor, like drinking on duty, were highly professional weren't they!
Vera (short-tempered) - I keep telling you, I was never drinking on duty!
Janice - Yes and I don't believe it, no matter how many times you say it!...but anyway I called you here because something very serious has happened....a brutal murder.. and I was the one who had to find the body, it was a shocking sight, Vera, I'm still in shock
Vera looks concerned
Vera - A murder? Who has been murdered
Janice sits and shakes her head pretending to be tearful as the office phone rings
Janice - I called for Inspector Thorne, hopefully, this is reception ringing through to tell me he has arrived

Janice picks the phone up while Vera stands looking concerned
Marsh house
Spike is lying unconscious on the office floor as Graham enters through the front door
Graham walks into the office and finds Spike on the floor, he looks worried
Graham - Margaret? Margaret are you ok?
Graham shakes her
Janice, Jim, and Vera are in the governor's office with Thorne
Janice - So I locked Slater up in solitary
Thorne - I see...and you're sure she did it?
Janice - Oh yes, she admitted as much, quite proud of it she was
Thorne - And where is the location of the body?
Janice - It's in a cell on H Block
Vera - In a cell? What if the other prisoners find it?
Janice - Relax Vera, they won't, I locked the cell door to make sure
Thorne - I'd best get on the blower, get my men over. While I do that can someone get Slater to an interview room so I can be ready to interview her shortly?
Janice - Yes I'll do that myself, Inspector
Marsh house
A clearly drugged up Spike is sitting in a chair as Graham hands her a cup of coffee
Graham - I can't believe this Margaret, I really cannot! I thought you'd kicked the habit for good
Spike - I have!
Graham - Please don't lie to me, I can tell when someones had a dose of smack. You're just lucky it was me who found you and not someone else
Spike - Look Graham there was a man here, he forced it into me... and I think I know who sent him. I think its time I told you something
Janice arrives at Ailsa's solitary cell
Janice - Come with me to the interview room, the police will be ready to interview you shortly
They leave the cell and start up the corridor
Janice - If you have any ideas about going back on our plan forget them right now. You may not care about yourself but I can only remind you about the harm that could be caused to your precious granddaughters if you decide not to confess
Ailsa looks downbeat, beaten
Ailsa - I know Miss, I'll confess I swear it
Janice - Good, I'm glad to hear it
Brumby is standing outside her cell looking annoyed as Jim, Vera and Thorne arrive
Brumby - About bloody time someone got here! What the hell is going on? I can't get into me cell it's locked
Vera - Stand aside please Tucker!
Brumby moves away as Vera unlocks the cell
Brumby - Anyone gonna tell me why my cell was locked?
Jim - Your cell has been the scene of a crime Tucker
They open the cell door and step inside, Brumby looks at the body in shock
Brumby - Bloody hell
Brumby looks panicked
Brumby - Look I never did this I swear! Just cos it happened in my cell don't try and pin it on me ok! I was in the laundry all afternoon with the others, I never left once! They can give me an alibi!
Vera - Oh shut up Tucker!
Thorne looks at Brumby with a smile
Thorne - Relax sweetheart, we already have a suspect, you're in the clear
Brumby sighs with relief
Brumby - Who was it then?
Vera (snappy) - That's none of your business Tucker! Now, why don't you go to the rec room and leave us to get on with business here?
Brumby - Nah I want to stay! This is my cell, want to make sure no one touches my stuff don't I!
Thorne - I assure you no one's interested in your stuff, we are here to deal with a crime scene
Marsh house
Graham sits looking at Spike dubiously
Graham - Ferguson? Really? You expect me to believe all this?
Spike - It's the truth
Graham - Isn't it more likely that you've had a relapse and can't face owning up to it? Once a junkie always a junkie they say don't they
Spike is angry
Spike - How dare you!...we better search the place now, I bet he has planted stuff here and tipped off the police, they could be here any moment
Spike gets up and begins to search the office in a panic
Spike - Help me, Graham, come on! We have to find the stuff and get rid of it before the cops get here
Graham - You seem pretty sure there's something there to find Margaret, why could that be I wonder? Could it be that you know some things there cos you put them there?
Spike - Look Joan won't have gone to this trouble for nothing, her plan must be for the police to be tipped off, come here and search, find the drugs and then they take me off and test me and find Heroin in my system
Suddenly the front door is kicked in and police rush in
Officer -POLICE! STAY WHERE YOU ARE!
Forensics are in the cell with Thorne. Vera Jim and Brumby are watching from the corridor
Thorne points to the discarded knife
Thorne - Bag that up and be careful with it, it could have fingerprints on it
Marsh house
Spike and Graham are in the lounge with Inspector Grace
Grace - We had a tip-off that there was a large quantity of heroin on the premises
Spike sits looking agitated
Grace - Are you ok there Miss Marsh? you seem a bit upset
Spike - Look inspector I think there are drugs here, but I didn't put them there I swear it
Grace - Oh really? Who did then?
Grace looks at Graham
Grace - Do you know anything about this Mr. Lang?
Graham - No I most certainly do not
A police officer enters the lounge carrying something which he hands to Grace
Grace dangles it in front of Spike and Graham
Grace - Well well well what do we have here then?..... I don't think I can help you out this time Marsh
Spike is nearly crying
Spike - That bloody bitch Ferguson set me up!
Grace takes a puff on his fag
Grace - Ferguson's to blame for bloody everything isn't she? It won't wash girly! I can tell you have some Heroin in your system right now!
Spike - Yes I do...that was because a man came here and forced me to take it, he held me down and injected me himself
Grace - Really?...and any idea who this man was?
Spike - None but I know he was one of Ferguson's associates
Grace - You'll both have to accompany me to the station
Graham looks horrified
Graham - You mean me too?
Grace - Yes Mr Lang, you too
Graham - But I had nothing to do with any of it!
Grace - Yes that's what you say. But unless Marsh is willing to own up and clear you of any involvement I have to explore the possibility that you were both in on it
Graham looks at Spike
Graham - Look Margaret please....you have to do the right thing here and clear me, love. It's not fair to drag me down with you
Spike sits and cries
The interview room
Thorne is there with Ailsa
Thorne - So why don't you tell me all about it Ailsa?
Ailsa - What do ya wanna know?
Thorne - Why you did it would be a start
Ailsa sits and shrugs
Ailsa - Dunno, was bored I suppose
Thorne - You murdered someone because you were bored? Come on lady there has to be more to it than that?
Ailsa - Listen when someone upsets me they pay for it right? Just ask Somerset Villa care home for the elderly...just ask Bea Smith and Joan Ferguson, I bet their lungs have only just recovered from the blast of smoke I gave them!
Thorne - So Mr Henderson upset you?
Ailsa - Yeah suppose, I mean the lad had no manners, didn't know how to treat a lady of my age. They have no bloody respect these days! none of em!
Thorne - Yes I know what you mean Ailsa, I think the same thing myself!
Ailsa - Well that's all I wanna say!
Thorne - That's fine, all I need now is for you to sign a statement and the whole thing is over
Ailsa - Over? I'll face life for it won't I? I'll die in this joint
Thorne - Well yes I'm afraid so
Ailsa sits head bowed
Ailsa - Well I didn't have much to get out for anyway, suppose it's no big deal really at my age...and I got my granddaughters to look after me in here too
The rec room
Brumby arrives
Cheryl - Where have you been all evening?
Brumby - Down by my cell
Cheryl - Look I told you, it's no good avoiding people, they will forget about it in time, you just have to face them and tough it out until then
Brumby - Nah it's not that...you'll never guess what has happened Cheryl...
.....Mandy and Connie are sitting together in another part of the room
Mandy - Have you seen Gran at all?
Connie shakes her head
Connie - not seen her for hours
Mandy - Nor have I, I hope she's ok
Connie - Maybe she's in the pound?
Mandy - Yeah maybe...
.....Cheryl laughs loudly
Brumby - What's so funny?
Cheryl - You are sister! You and your stories, geez I don't know, you're just too much Brumby!
Brumby looks indignant
Brumby - It's not a story I tell ya! it's the truth
Cheryl addresses the room
Cheryl - HEY GIRLS, TUCKERS GOT A STORY FOR US ALL!
Mandy - Oh yeah? What's that then?
Cheryl - Apparently Henderson's been murdered!...in her cell no less!
They all chuckle
Mandy - Yeah good one Tucker! This one beats the other lies hands down
Brumby - It's not a bloody lie, you'll all find out soon enough
Brumby gets up and storms out of the room
The police station
Spike and Graham are sitting in a room as Grace enters
Grace - Tests show you had Heroin in your system Marsh, hardly a big surprise is it
Spike - Look I tell ya I didn't take anything willingly
Grace - Spare me the bullshit girly...are you willing to clear Mr Lang of involvement?
Graham looks at Spike
Graham - Please Margaret, you have to clear me
Spike shakes her head and gives Graham a spiteful look
Spike - He was in on it as much as I was, more in fact. Ok I admit I took the drugs and I knew they were there but Graham was the one who convinced me we should buy it in the first place and he wanted to sell it to our women at the house
Grace looks at Graham with a smirk
Grace - Fancy that Mr Lang, I had you down as an upright, law-abiding citizen
Graham - And I am! Margaret is lying....why are you lying, Margaret? I don't understand why you're doing this to me
There is a knock at the door and a police officer enters and whispers something to Grace
Grace - One moment folks
Grace steps into the corridor with the officer, leaving the door open
Spike leans in close to whisper in Graham's ear
Spike - I was set up, I told you that, you chose not to believe me. Pretty funny way to treat your girlfriend who you claim to love.....well now you can just go down with me, can't you? maybe if you'd chosen to believe me and support me I would have let you off...
Graham looks ready to go mad
Graham - You're quite the spiteful bitch underneath it all aren't you Margaret!
Grace steps back in
Grace (sarcastic) - Sorry if I'm interrupting something folks, I can step back out again if you wish to carry on your little chat in peace
Spike - No inspector, I believe we were just about finished weren't we Graham?
Grace - Saying your goodbyes to each other were you?
GATESLAM
PART 2
The rec room
Janice enters accompanied by Jim and Vera
Janice - Attention please ladies!
Everyone is silent, all eyes on Janice
Janice - Now some of you may already be aware that there has been a change of governor...I'm back in the chair again
Cheryl - Yeah miss, we heard a rumor
Janice - Well that's not the only announcement I have to make... I also have to inform you all that Mr Henderson was this evening murdered by another prisoner
Cheryl - We heard a rumour on that too...Gawd so Tucker was actually telling the truth
Mandy - Who murdered him, Miss?
Janice smirks
Janice - It was your granny, Slater!
Mandy and Connie look shocked
Janice - Now Wentworth scores a hat trick....all three Slaters in for murder...Connie, you can accompany me to my office for a little chat, lets go now
Connie nervously leaves with Janice
Cheryl turns to Mandy
Cheryl - I always knew the old girl had it in her to kill
Mandy smirks, eyes lit up with devilment
Mandy - So did I, Gibson
Mandy licks her lips
Cheryl looks slightly unnerved
Connie is alone in the governor's office with Janice
Connie - If you want to talk about Gran, I knew nothing about it i really didn't. I have no idea why she did it
Janice chuckles
Janice - She did it because she has a screw loose, all you Slaters do... and that's all anyone needs to know on that subject. No, I had a rather more pressing matter to discuss with you, Slater?
Connie - And what's that?
Janice - I want to know why you told Henderson the truth about who attacked you?
Connie - He made me ok, I was scared. He knew anyway, just wanted confirmation
Janice - Well I'm very angry that you did that
Connie - Why does it matter now, the poor blokes dead ain't he?
Janice - That's hardly the point, you weren't to know that your nutty old granny would do him in, he could just as easily still be alive now and who knows what he'd do with that information
Connie - Look miss I'm sorry
Janice - Yes, you will be
Connie - Why? What are you going to do?
Janice - You'll find out...in good time
Connie looks scared
Exterior shot of Woodridge prison
Inside Colleen is in the staffroom as Geoff Carlson enters, they smile at each other
Geoff - Enjoying a break?
Colleen - Yes at long last, been on my feet for hours
Geoff pours himself a coffee and joins her
Geoff - I'm very happy to have you here Colleen, we need good officers like you
Colleen smiles and lights a cigarette
Colleen -I'm very happy to be here too Geoff
Geoff - Of course dealing with male prisoners is very different from dealing with female ones
Colleen - Yes I realize that Geoff...don't worry I can handle them
Geoff - Yes I thought so...we should have a new arrival coming in shortly. So when we finish our coffee maybe we can go down and meet him together
Colleen - Yes, sounds like a good idea
They smile at each other again
Blackmoor
Spike is in the governor's office with Ann and Meg
Spike - Ferguson set me up, it had to be her
Ann - Damn that woman! Does she ever stop?
Meg - I'm so sorry Margaret, I got you into this mess
Spike - Yeah well I did agree to do it didn't i
Ann - Look, Margaret, there's nothing I can do to get you out of here right now but while you are here I can make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible, that's really the least we can do for you...and we'll all work on fixing Ferguson
Spike - Yeah I know, thanks. It's Marsh house I worry about now, the department might close it down and I worked so hard for it
Meg - Can't Graham look after it?
Spike shakes her head
Spike - I'm afraid he can't
Woodridge
Graham is standing in reception as Colleen and Geoff arrive to greet him
Geoff - Evening Mr Lang isn't it?
Graham - Yes that's right, Graham Lang...and I shouldn't damn well be here! I did nothing wrong
Colleen and Geoff chuckle
Geoff - You see Colleen, male prisoners are just as innocent as female ones are
Colleen - That does seem to be the case yes
Graham looks wound up
Vera is patrolling a corridor as Brumby runs up
Brumby - Miss, I need your help please Miss
Vera - Oh what is it, Tucker?
Brumby - It's gonna be lock up soon and I need to move cells before that happens
Vera - Oh and why?
Brumby - I can't sleep in that cell Miss Bennett, not after what happened in there!
Vera - Oh stop being a silly girl! He's not there now, is he!
Brumby - Yeah but he was....all that blood and everything, just the thought of it gives me the creeps. please Miss I need to change cells
Vera - Well I'll have to ask the governor Tucker
Brumby - Oh thanks Miss
Vera - I can't promise she's going to agree to it though
