Mrs Adams points the sawn-off shotgun at Father Brian

Mrs Adams - You should have learned to keep out of things that don't concern you, Father.....now you leave me no choice but to kill you

Father Brian - Don't be so ridiculous Mrs Adams, I think we both know you won't do that. I think you know this has to end right here and right now....this is wrong and you know it

Rodney - This is Katherine Father, my fiancee

Mrs Adams - Yes, so you see there is nothing wrong about it, it's all very much right

Father Brian - She is obviously being held against her will, now this has to end here and you both know that

He turns to Kath

Father Brian - We're going to calmly walk out of here ok Katherine?

Kath nods

Mrs Adams - I don't think so father...

Father Brian - Oh I do...

They begin to leave. Mrs Adams shoots Father Brian in the stomach at close range, sending a spray of blood everywhere, the force of the impact sends Father Brian through the air and he hits against the wall and slumps down to the floor

Kath screams

Kath -oh my god! what have you done!

Kath rushes over as Father Brian breathes his last breath and dies

Mrs Adams wipes the blood off her face and looks around the room, there is blood everywhere

Mrs Adams - Oh deary me, what a mess

She stands to look at Father Brian and shakes her head sadly

Mrs Adams - He was such a nice man, what a pity, but it had to be done

Ailsa and Mandy are still in the corridor

Mandy - When did you get here then?

Ailsa - Today

Mandy - Didn't even know you were back inside, last I heard you were living with mum and dad, what happened there?

Ailsa (bitter) - They moved to Perth didn't they, my Dennis got offered a new job and that bitch Marion didn't want me along with them did she. she never wanted me there in the first place and once they moved to Perth it was her perfect excuse to get shot of me, they had me dumped in some rotten stinking care home. I hated it there and the staff was abusive so I set it alight and here I am. Of course, I don't blame my Dennis, he is just too weak to stand up to Marion, she is a rotten bitch

Mandy - Can't disagree there, she certainly is a cow my mother...and I know what's its like to be disowned, abandoned by your own family don't i. We're in the same boat here gran

Ailsa looks at her cold

Ailsa - That's one thing we all agreed on as a family, that you were no longer a part of it after what you did. You deserved to be disowned, but I didn't, my crime was merely to be despised by my own daughter-in-law.

Mandy - Yeah well I reckon we should forget the past gran. I mean now here we both are in this place and the rest of the family ain't around. we're on our own and we should stick together

Ailsa -You can forget that my girl! I'll never forget any of it

Mandy - But I am still your grandchild does that mean nothing?

Ailsa looks at her sadly

Ailsa - Of course, it means something, my child. I wish I could still see that sweet little girl I once loved so much but she's gone forever now. You killed her, no one else...

Mandy fights back tears

Mandy - Look what I did....well I was sick, I couldn't help it

Ailsa - Yes you were sick alright, but if you expect me to ever accept it I can't,

Mandy - I don't want anyone else to know about it at least promise me that

Ailsa - Oh I bet you don't my child. I can imagine what they might do to you if they knew. Don't worry that won't hear it from me, despite everything I don't wish to see you hurt...not that you don't deserve it but I still don't want to see that happen. But stay away from me, I mean that

Ailsa turns and walks away. Mandy wipes back tears. she calls out after her

Mandy - Gran, please.....

Ailsa is crying too, she ignores Mandy and carries on

Lizzie arrives at her cell to find Brumby curled up on the bed severely beaten

Lizzie - What happened Brum?

Brumby (crying) - Mandy set her gang on me didn't she

Lizzie - Why love?

Brumby - Cos I wouldn't help them heavy ya. I am supposed to forget you're my friend and join in or face a thrashing...I don't know what to do Lizzie, I don't want to join them in hurting you but what can I do?

Lizzie sits beside her to comfort her

Lizzie - You just wait till Bea gets back, she'll sort that bitch out don't you worry

Brumby - Yeah you reckon?

Lizzie - I reckon

Rodney and Mrs Adams are digging a grave outside the cottage. Inside the dead body of Father Brian remains in the cellar. Kath is sat on the bed in shock, dazed

Exterior shot of Wentworth at night time.

Inside the mood is subdued in the rec room. Roo enters, hands wrapped in bandages

Mandy - So they've let you out of the infirmary then have they?

Roo - Yeah, still in bloody agony though and can't do anything the state my hands are in. Once I get the use of my hands back Smith will pay for this...in the meantime, there ain't much I can do so I'm relying on you to look after things for me Slater

Mandy smirks at Roo

Mandy - I've already taken care of that Roo, I'm the new top dog around here

Roo is fuming

Roo - Since when?

Mandy - Since today, everyone has voted me in

Roo - Like hell ya are, I'm top dog, just cos I'm out of action for a bit don't mean you can take over!

Mandy - Think you'll find it does...and I have. There ain't much you can do about it in your condition is there

Roo gets right into Mandy's face to whisper

Roo - I could tell the girls about your crime remember? Your sick little secret

Mandy - Ah yeah that...well you could, couldn't you but then I'd have to hurt your son wouldn't i.....

Roo looks mad

Rodney and Mrs Adams arrive at the cellar, Mrs Adams still has the sawn-off shotgun

Mrs Adams - Katherine help Rodney with the body, it's too heavy for him to carry up on his own

Kath sits on the bed sobbing

Mrs Adams - C'mon Katherine pull yourself together, we have to shift this body before it starts to rot.

Kath - I can't...I can't touch it

Rodney - You can Kath, c'mon it's not nice for me either, we'll do it together won't we

Rodney guides Kath over to the body and they begin to lift together

Mrs Adams - We'll take this step by step, nice and slowly, there is no hurry. Don't try any of your tricks Katherine...I have this gun remember

Mandy meets Janice in a quiet spot

Mandy - Don't you have a home to go to Miss Raymond?

Janice - That's my business...now how did you get on?

Mandy - Everything worked out perfectly, I'm top dog

Janice - And Morgan?

Mandy - She sounded off a bit like we expected. But once I mentioned her son that soon shut her up, thank you for giving me that ammunition Miss Raymond...it's pretty sick though to threaten someone's child like that

Janice gives Mandy a look

Janice - That's a bit rich coming from you darling...What you did was one of the sickest things I ever read. quite honestly it gives me the creeps, makes me wonder if I really want to work with you

Mandy - I think you can put your feelings aside Miss Raymond, I think you know it's best if we work together. Help each other. I can keep those girls in line in return for a few favours from you.

Janice - And what about Smith?

Mandy - Smith won't be a problem I can assure you

Janice - Well I hope not Slater, I am releasing her from the pound in the morning, I do hope you can handle her as you say you can

Mandy - I can...so we got a deal? Partners?

Janice - Yes ok...but don't let me down, don't try and mess me around, not ever because I can destroy you and find a new partner any time I like. Remember that

Mandy - Yes Mrs Raymond I know...

Janice - Good...now get going, it will be lock-up soon

Exterior shot of the cottage in daylight.

Inside Rodney is with Kath, this time he has his uniform on.

Rodney - I have to go back to Wentworth today Kath, I hate leaving you here all day but I have no choice.

Kath doesn't respond

Rodney - I know you're upset about Father Brian, so am i. So is mum, she always liked him very very much you know, we both did. We wanted him to be the one who married us two, I don't know who we'll get to do it now...oh well I'll see you later

Rodney leaves Kath alone in the cellar...

....Mrs. Adams is upstairs looking tearful as Rodney arrives

Mrs Adams - I wish you could stay home today dear, I don't want to be alone today, I feel so upset

She wipes her eyes on her sleeve

Mrs Adams - Father Brian was a friend of the families for so many years, he married your dear father and me, you know. I can't believe he is dead

Rodney - I know mum but you had to do it didn't you. He would have wrecked everything, what choice did you have?

Mrs Adams nods her head

Mrs Adams - Yes you're right dear and what's done is done

Bea is stood before Janice

Janice - I hope you're time in the pound has given you time to reflect on how to avoid ''accidents'' in the future?

Bea - Yeah sure no worries

Janice -That's good because let me make something clear Smith, I do not like troublemakers, I like things to run along nice and smoothly you understand. A nice orderly prison. Each time there is an incident here it reflects badly on me as governor and that's no good

Bea looks bored

Bea - I'll be a good little girl from now on Miss

Janice - I hope for your sake you are, remember that troublemakers go to blackmoor, all it takes is a phone call

The laundry. Mandy is on the press. Bea arrives in the doorway. Lizzie dashes over

Lizzie - I'm glad you're out Bea

Bea - Thanks, so am I, Lizzie

Bea eyes up Mandy on the press

Bea - So you've taken over from Morgan have you?

Mandy - Yeah, I took the chance while she was out of action didn't i

Bea spots Helen

Bea (pleased) - Hey g'day Hel, longtime no see

Helen - Hi Bea, Lizzie told me you were here, I must say I was pretty shocked when I heard as we all thought you were dead...you'll have to fill me in on what you've been doing these last few years I bet it's real interesting

Bea - You'll have to fill me in on what you've been doing too

Lizzie - But right now I reckon we should fill Bea in on what's been happening since she's been in the pound right Hel?

Helen - Oh yes definitely

The Kitchen

Reb, Brumby, and Vicki are there. Meg comes in

Meg - Kean your solicitor is here to see you

Reb's face lights up as she leaves with Meg

Brumby and Vicki remain behind, Brumby is clearly in pain

Vicki (smirking) - so I hear Mandy's crew gave you a good hiding last night? I would say I'm sorry to hear about it Brumby, but that would be such a lie. The only thing I'm sorry about is they didn't hurt you worse

Brumby- Oh shove off McPherson...

Vicki - I won't shove off Tucker, you may think I have forgotten what you did with my mother but I haven't and I won't. I'm gonna get you for that I swear it

Brumby - Yeah whatever McPherson, scared silly ain't i

The laundry

An angry Bea stands in front of Mandy

Bea - I've been hearing things Slater and I don't like it, I don't like it one bit

Mandy - That's just tough isn't it Smith...

Bea - Lizzie is a mate of mine, a very old, very dear mate and I don't stand by and let anyone push her around

Mandy - I'm top dog here and I do what I like when I like and there is nothing you or anyone else can do about it

Bea suddenly attacks Mandy

Bea - That's where you're wrong......

Rodney visits Joan in isolation

Joan - What do you want? come to gawp?

Rodney - Be friendly Joan, I came to see how you're settling in

Joan sneers - Oh just fine...here I am with only the bricks for company

Rodney - What did you expect Joan? Did you really think you'd be allowed in with the others? That's just stupid Joan

Joan - You could help me, Adams!

Rodney - Help how?

Joan - Help me get Smith, all I want to do is get Smith. That's what I came back for!

Rodney - And how do you think I can help?

Joan snaps

Joan - I don't know Adams! We can find a way!

Rodney shakes his head

Rodney - I plan to keep my nose clean from now on, now more funny business

Joan - Ha! don't give me that. You have a few schemes going right now I bet...you're bent, Adams!

Rodney - I can't help with Smith sorry. I can get you stuff if you like? A radio? some magazines? It will help pass the time?

Joan - Shove it!

Rodney smirks - Suit yourself Joan...don't say I didn't try to be nice

Joan - You owe me, Adams, I taught you everything you know

Rodney - I know and I'm grateful Joan. But I want to be a governor one day and that means keeping my nose clean, I have had too many close calls

Joan chuckles

Joan - You a governor? now I've heard it all, you're never be governor material boy face it

Rodney is indignant

Rodney - Why not? I could make a go at it

Joan - You're a no-hoper. now me, I was governor material, I could have made a good job of it but I lost out to Reynolds the damn social worker

Rodney - You have to admit she was a worthy opponent though

Joan - She was an amateur! nothing more

Rodney - Yes well as much as I'd love to stand around chatting I have to get back on my rounds now Joan....I'm so sorry I can't be of more help to you

He leaves

The laundry. Bea and Mandy fight, egged on by Helen and Lizzie

The interview room. Meg shows Reb in, a man is waiting. Meg leaves them alone. Reb sits down

Reb - Thanks for coming Stephen

Stephen - You know me Reb, you call I come running.....what can I do for you this time?

Reb - I'm in a real mess this time Stephen. I may not have been the one who pulled the trigger but I can't get away from the fact I'm an accessory. I see no point in hanging around to try and defend myself, they are gonna hang me anyway. I want an escape and I want it asap

Stephen - Well of course can arrange this for you Reb, but these things take time as well you know

Reb (annoyed) - How much time are we talking about here?

Stephen - Well a week at least maybe longer

Reb - You really can't fix something up sooner?

Stephen shakes his head

Stephen - No I'm sorry, it just can't be done Reb

Reb - Well very well then, I can be as patient as the next person. Another week or so in here ain't gonna kill me but any longer and I will start to question what use you are to me anymore Stephen

The laundry

Bea has beaten Mandy. Mandy lays on the floor out of breath

Bea - Is that enough for you or do you want some more?

Mandy - BITCH!

Bea chuckles and opens a dryer

Bea - You're just like Morgan, need to learn some Manners...Hel help me lift her

Helen obliges.

They lift Mandy and place her inside a dryer

Bea - How long do you reckon Hel

Helen pretends to think

Helen - 20 minutes?

Bea - That sounds good but I don't know we don't want her to suffocate do we

Lizzie - Gawd no, she could end up like Ann Yates! poor bugger, what a rotten way to go that was

Helen - No you're right...we just want to give her a scare...

Bea - Perhaps 10 minutes will do?...got anything you'd like to say, Slater?

Mandy -I'll kill the lot of ya!

Bea slams the door shut while laughing

Janice is with Joan in isolation

Janice - I thought I should come and see how you're coping Ferguson, I realize Isolation is a difficult challenge for any prisoner

Joan - I am not coping well at all! I want out of here. I want to be put among the other women and treated normally

Janice - Come now you know this is not possible and you know why

Joan - Look governor, I survived before I can do so again...you can't keep me here like this forever

Janice - I am trying to arrange your transfer Ferguson, which will hopefully go some way to solving the issue. In the meantime you will just have to try and make the best of it, I'm sorry

Joan - And how am I supposed to do that in here?

Janice - I'm sorry Ferguson I really am

Janice gives Joan a smug look and leaves

Bea lets Mandy out of the dryer, she collapses on the floor

Bea drags her to her knees and holds her chin up

Bea - While you were in the dryer there was a change of circumstances...I was voted in as the top dog

Lizzie lets out a dirty laugh

GATESLAM

PART 2

The governor's office

Janice is on the phone with Dwyer

Janice - I wondered if there is any news regarding the Ferguson situation?

Dwyer - Ah yes well I have spoken to the police about that. It would seem that Ferguson was moved to several different prisons during her stay inside but was recognized by someone at every single one she went to. This is partly why she got off on a suspended sentence as keeping her inside was too much hassle

Janice - I see....so where does that leave us now?

Dwyer - It comes down to this Janice, there is little point in moving her from Wentworth, she will just be recognized where ever she goes. It will cost to department too much time and money, she may as well stay at Wentworth

Janice looks annoyed

Janice - I see....well I can't guarantee her safety here Mr Dwyer

Dwyer nods gravely

Dwyer - Yes I realize that...well you say she's in isolation right?

Janice - Yes that's right

Dwyer - I suggest you leave her there then, that's the safest bet

Janice - Yes of course, but the problem is this Sir. I and other members of staff have been keeping an eye on Ferguson and we have noticed she has become very agitated and unsettled. we worry for her mental health

Dwyer - You have my permission to move her out of isolation if you feel she is at risk if she remains there

Janice looks gobsmacked

Janice - Really?...what if there are problems?

Dwyer - You won't be held accountable Miss Raymond...and frankly Ferguson has caused everyone so much trouble who would care if she met with some kind of ''accident''...now I'll leave it to your discretion, good day Miss Raymond.

Dwyer hangs up, he has Len with him
