It's been three months since the incident with Jo'nae happened. I've been very supportive to her. But she makes it so hard. She pushes me away a lot even when I jus try to be there for her.

"Baby. Come on. What's wrong?" I said sitting next to her on the bed.

She was getting ready to bury herself in her blankets again. She's been doing this for the past 3 months. I understand she is going through something but she needs to communicate so I can support her.

"Nothing, I'm fine I just want to sleep." She told me pulling the blankets over her.

"You've been sleeping all day! Come on let's go do something." I said pulling the sheets off her.

"Like what?"

"I don't even know. You want to go do some shopping for Ashanti's gender reveal?" Her face lit up when I said that and a bright smile grew across her face.

"But we don't even know the gender yet we get the papers later today."

"I know. That doesn't mean we can't do some looking around." She nodded and got out of bed and headed to the bathroom.

She took a shower brushed her teeth got dressed and came out to me.

"How I look?" She said spinning.

"Damn ma." I said looking her up and down. She smiled and grabbed my hand leading me out the room.

"Where you guys goin?" Ashanti said coming towards us.

She was holding her belly. It had grown so much bigger. It makes me happy when I see her belly. Cause I know I gotta lil homie in there waiting to come out I can't wait to be an uncle.

"We going to do some searching for your gender reveal." Jo'nae said with a smile.

"I'm happy to see you smile." Ashanti said pulling Jo'nae in for a hug. Her belly caused them to have a weird looking hug that made me laugh.

"Whatchu laughin for!" She said pulling away. I quickly shook my head and grabbed Jo'nae's hand walking out the house with her.

"Alright first we go to the mall." She said taking her phone out.

We drove for a little bit before we arrived at the mall. We got out the car and made our way through the parking lot.

"Hold on bae." I said taking my phone out. I stepped back from her and snapped some pictures while she was posing.

She was coming back. Slowly. Her smile is starting to look real again. And I'm happy for her.

I picked one of the photos and posted it on my Instagram. "That's all me. 😋@naenae". I clicked post and it went to my page.

We first went into Target and got gender neutral blankets, bibs, and bottles.

"Bae why you getting this when we supposed to be planning the party."

"Shhhhh." She said putting her hand out to me.

We went into the baby clothing aisle looking for gender neutral clothing but it was hard!

I looked over at Jo'nae and she was holding up a pair of shorts for a boy. She was admiring them. She let out a sigh before folding them and putting them back on the table.

"What's wrong?" I asked her as she walked past me.

"Nothing. I'm fine. We need to go to party city after we leave here." I walked over to her and kissed her forehead.

"I love you."

"I love you too." She said with a smile.

I took the cart and pushed it to check out while she held my arm and walked beside me.

Once we got in the car I checked my phone cause it's been blowing up ever since we got in. I opened it up and all the notifications were from Instagram. Under Jo'naes picture.

I put my phone in the glove box before pulling out the parking lot. We headed over to party city an got a bunch of stuff for the baby shower. Stuff like: Tablecloths, napkins, plates, balloons, streamers, and a customized banner with Jay and Ashanti name on it.

We headed back home and stored all the stuff away before they could see it.

"Where do you plan on having it?" I ask her. She shrugs.

"I don't know yet I still have a lot of time we don't plan it until a week after we get results!" She said excited!

"Alright well since we got the shopping out the way-" She cut me off.

"Pause! Who said that?"

"We not done?!"

"No! That's not even half. This is a gender reveal for my best friends first baby. Not no mfk kickback." I smiled and nodded before sitting on her bed.

"Alright well what can we do right now?" I asked her.

She grabbed her laptop and pulled it on her lap.

"We need to find their thrones."

"Thrones?!" I said with a face.

"Yes nigga thrones! For a King and Queen! Stop playing wit me De you know what the fuck I get into!" She said poking my forehead.

I laughed and laid on her arm as she typed on the laptop. We searched on Amazon for thrones and shit but it kept pissing her off. She finally found the ones she wanted and added them to the cart.

"I'm tired." She said yawning. I got up and took her laptop of her lap and closed it.

"Go to sleep then ma." I put her laptop on her desk and she laid back on her pillow.

"Here" I said taking her bonnet off her dresser and handing it to her. She smiled and put it on before laying back down.

I closed the door shut and walked out into the living room where Jay was on the phone.

I nodded my head at him and he nodded back. I took my keys off the table and started for the door.

Imma go get Jo'nae something to eat for when she wake up.

"Where you goin?" Jay said stopping me at the door.

"Bouta go get some food for Jo'nae."

"Oh aight keep your head up." He said turning to go upstairs. "Imma talk to you when you get back."

"Bae." I said walking into my room. Ashanti was sitting on the edge of the bed tryin go to put her shoes on.

I walked up to her and took the shoe out her hand.

"What! I'm trying to see if I can still do it." She said reaching for the shoe. I laughed and threw it back on the floor.

"Look. I've been thinking about something." I said getting on the bed.

"Aw Shit."

"What?"

"Every time you think of something it's either crazy or stupid."

"I thought about dating yo-" She slapped me before I could finish my sentence.

"I'm just playin damn!" I said holding her hands. Dem bitches quick.

"Anyways, what were you thinking about?" She started to put her hair in a ponytail.

"Maybeweshouldgetourowncrib." I said quickly. She gave me a look and laughed.

"What?"

"Maybe. We. Should. Get. Our. Own. Crib." Her face turned from funny to serious.

"Why?"

"Because there's so much shit happening in this house and I don't want the baby to come into this toxicity."

She nodded and looked around the room.

"I was going to mention that when we were in Florida. But it just wasn't the right time. I'm happy you mentioned it though cause I keep seeing these fucking zillow ads everywhere."

She took out her phone and pulled up the ads and showed them to me.

They had a two bedroom condo 2 bathroom, right down the street. As soon as I saw that one I was like I have to have it! I pointed at it and she clicked on it. It looked amazing. I could just imagine our little peanut running throughout the house.

"I already got the money and shii." I said looking at her.

She kissed me and thanked me for taking care of her. This girl know damn well that's my job and I'll do just that till death do us part. Yes mfk I'm talking marriage. That's my next step.

"We gotta doctors apppintment baby." She said getting off the bed.

"I know it's in like 10 minutes that's what I originally came here for. That's why you tried putting them shoes on?" I said laughing.

"Shut up." She picked up the shoe and threw it at me. She is strong asl.

We made our way to the doctors office and once we got there we were the first called in.

"Okay. Mr & Mrs Lawson! We finding out the gender today??" The doctor said coming in.

"We aren't married. Yet." Ashanti said looking up at me. I looked away with a smile and she smacked my hand.

"But no. My best friend and her boyfriend are going to come and get the results."

"Oh yes Jo'nae Marie Andrews and Demarcus Wayne? The young man and woman that came along last time."

We nodded our heads.

"Okay great so today I'm going to send you home with a picture of the baby through the ultrasound. And later today Mrs. Andrews and Mr. Wayne will come and pick up your results."

The doctor took our ultrasound pictures and handed them to us. After she had cleaned up and left the room we held them up and looked at them. I've fallen in love all over again. Seeing that baby on the picture made my heart turn warm. I pulled Ashanti in for a hug.

"I love you ma." She stood there for a second before pulling away. I looked down at her. "What happened?" I said watching her tear up.

"That's the first time you've said that to me." She said as a tear dropped. I wiped it away and held her face in my hands.

"I do. I do love you."

"I love you too Jay." I kissed her and pulled her back in for a tighter hug.

We left the doctors office and went back home. Once we got there we went straight up to the room and started to talk about the ultrasound pictures and the condo down the street.

I took a picture of the ultrasound photo and posted it on instagram.

We took the pictures and went downstairs to Jo'naes room to show her but she was sleeping so we just went to sit on the couch.

"I hope it's a boy." I said sitting down.

"What made you change your mind?" Ashanti said putting her legs on mine.

"I don't know. I just want you to have your baby boy. You deserve everything you wish for ma. You know that." In leaned over and kissed her temple.

"Either way you'll still be my girl." I said leaning back.'We cuddled on the couch and watched TV until Demarcus came home.

"Yo yo." He said walking in with bags of food.

"Hey De." Ashanti said waving at him.

"Wassup."

"Jo'nae up yet?" He asked us setting the food down on the kitchen table.

We shook our heads and he left to go wake her up. I got up and helped Ashanti before we went and looked through the bags for what was bought.

"Hey boo!" Ashanti said running up to Jo'nae who was half sleep.

"Hey bae." She said hugging her back. Jo'nae was a little taller than Ashanti and her bump was bigger than her!

"Come sit down and eat." Demarcus said pulling out the chair for Jo'nae while I pulled out one for Ashanti.

We sat down and started eating when Demarcus started laughing. Ashanti, Jo'nae, and I looked at each other and back at him.

"What's so funny?" Jo'nae asked him.

"Bro. Guess who I seen at Wendy's?"

"Who?" We all said in sync.

"Rachel."

We all looked at each other and busted out laughing.

"Not her tryna start shit with me! She worried about the wrong beef!" Ashanti said laughing.

"WeLcOmE tO wEnDy'S!" Demarcus said in a funny voice making us all laugh harder.

"Bro. Nah on some real shit when she seen me she was mad asl. And she took forever getting our food. Saying "Its still cooking."

"I can't tell my fries bout stale as shit." I said dropping the fry on the table. It made a thud that made the girls laugh.

Are they high or something?

"I'm bouta piss." Ashanti said getting up and hurrying to the bathroom.

Once she got back we continued eating. After an hour of sitting around and talking we cleaned up the table and went in the living room to watch TV.

"Bae. It's time." Jo'nae said looking at her phone. Her and Demarcus got up and walked towards the door.

"Where you guys goin?" Ashanti said looking at them.

"To find out if you carrying a boy or girl!" Jo'nae said walking out the house closing the door. Ashanti looked up at me.

"Team boy." She said holding out her pinky.

"Team boy." I said linking it.

Pulling up to that doctors office was like THE BEST feeling ever and that's not even my baby! I damn near ran in.

"Bae slow tf down!" I hear Demarcus say behind me. I stopped and waited for him to catch up and together we walked to the front desk.

"Hi we are here to see Dr. KeKe." I said to the lady up front. She went around a corner and came back with the same doctor we seen before.

"Hi, how are you?" She asked us.

"Very good. How are you?" I said sticking my hand out to shake it. She took it and shook it.

"Very good. You're here to find out the gender of Ashanti & Jay'shawn's baby?"

"Yes ma'am!" Demarcus said. She turned and went through a file cabinet and turned back to us.

"You tell them I said congratulations." We nodded then turned around and walked outside with the paper still folded.

We got to the parking lot and opened up the paper and looked at it then each other then back at the paper.

"OMGGGGG!" I said jumping around!

"THATS FUCKIN VALID!" Demarcus said picking me up.

We started doing our little dancey dance and people were staring at us like we were crazy. But I ain't give not one fuck!

"Come on! We gotta get home and make the gender reveal surprise." Demarcus said grabbing my hand and running to the car.

He was so excited. I hope he's this excited about our kids.
