"I shouldn't be doing this right now." Naala groaned. She was in the hospital because of her bleeding at 36 weeks pregnant.

"Then you shouldn't have been having sex at 16," Naala's dad, Jacob, mumbled beside her.

"Really daddy? Right now," Naala mugged him picking up her cup of ice.

"Yeah right now," He said fixing the pillows behind her back. "You still not gonna tell me who it is?"

"He's not here anyway dad, he's not important," Naala replied. She never told her dad that Dave was the father because he would go ballistic.

"He's not important," Jacob scoffed. "You can barely look after yourself Naala,"

"Daddy please," Naala said putting her head down. "I'm in enough pain,"

"And now you about to have two babies on your own," Jacob said using the cloth to wipe her head. Even though he was angry, that was still his baby girl.

"I can do it," Naala said quietly, she had to think positively.

"You don't know the first thing about babies La," Jacob shook his head.

"What do you want me to do now?" Naala asked him.

"Adoption is always an option. I know a few parents at the school who have been struggling to conceive," Jacob suggested.

"You want me to give my babies away?" Naala asked sadly.

"You have your whole life ahead of you," Jacob said in response. "Don't let this ruin it for you,"

Naala thought hard about what her dad was saying, maybe she couldn't look after them.

The doctor entered the room with a solemn look making Naala sit up.

"Can you tell me what's going on now?" Naala asked the doctor, desperate to get out of there.

"One of the twins has the cord wrapped around its neck, we haven't been able to detect a heartbeat which probably means they are no longer alive," The doctor blurted out.

"How can you just say it like that?" Jacob grumbled standing to his feet. The look on Naala's face made him more angrier.

"Sir —"

"No, she is 17!" Jacob shouted. "You don't break bad news to a 17 year old like that,"

"Daddy," Naala whimpered sadly. Jacob ignored her and carried on going off on the doctor.

"I just want them out," Naala shouted over him. "Get them out of me," She ordered. That was enough for her not to want the babies anymore.

The doctor nodded quickly and prepared Naala for labor. The entire process Naala couldn't think straight.

The pain was unbearable and her dad was making everything ten times worse.

"One more push and the first baby is out," The doctor prompted Naala to push.

"One more push Naala, I know you can," Jacob spoke holding her hand.

"Ahhh," Naala pushed with all her strength, Sinai slipping out with ease.

"That's baby number one out," The doctor announced, "It's a girl," He added when Sinai's screams filled the room.

"I don't care," Naala tutted laying back down. Jacob sighed and looked over at the nurses that were cleaning Sinai up.

"She's got a good set of lungs on her," He tried to joke with Naala who wasn't in the mood.

"On the next contraction, you need to push really hard okay?" The doctor instructed.

"But it's dead what's the point?" Naala cried looking to her dad for support.

"You gotta do it," Jacob said getting closer to her. "You're so strong, I'm right here with you too," He convinced her.

"I don't want to," Naala shook her head in pain.

"You have to," Jacob repeated. "I know it hurts baby, it's always gonna hurt but you have to,"

"I feel it," Naala winced squeezing her dad's hand tighter.

"I'm never letting you go," Jacob spoke leaning down beside her.

"Push," The doctor spoke holding onto her leg. Naala did what she was told, and delivered Ameer, the cord still wrapped tightly around his neck.

The nurses carried him away and wrapped him up, "It's a boy," One of the nurses announced.

"I can't look at him," Naala sobbed turning away when they tried to hand him to her.

"Baby listen to me," Jacob said sternly. "This is the only time you will ever get with him. Don't waste it," He said to her.

"But I can't dad," Naala cried. "He's gone and it's my fault,"

"How can that be your fault?" Jacob retorted. "You did so good Naala, just hold him. You won't ever get another chance,"

Naala cried hard when they placed Ameer into her arms. His body wasn't cold but it wasn't warm. His lips were dark gray from lack of oxygen.

"You can name him," One of the nurses suggested. "He's still yours,"

Naala stared down at him, unable to process what was happening. Everything happened so quick, one minute he was there and the next he was gone.

"A name Naala," Jacob pushed. "Anything that means something to you," He added.

"His dad would have wanted him to be a junior," Naala sniffed. "But his name is ugly, so I'll go with Ameer," She decided.

It didn't take Jacob long to connect the dots and as soon as he did, he grew more angry at Dave's absence while his daughter suffered.

"I can't get over how perfect you are," Dave mumbled rocking their baby girl. Her face was all screwed up in her sleep, showing off her perfectly pouted lips, just like Naala.

It was like she took Naala's entire face and only inherited Dave's skin color.

There was still no news on Naala and the second baby, it felt like years to him but it had been the whole night.

"I can't wait for your mommy to meet you," Dave spoke to her. "I hope she gets to meet you," He said sadly.

Childbirth was a scary thing, women were more closer to death when bringing new life into the world.

Dave held her with one hand and pulled his phone out with the other, dialling Miani's number.

"I've been waiting all morning," Miani answered excitedly. "Should I be saying congratulations yet?"

"We've got one girl," Dave said looking down at her.

"One? What happened to the other baby?" Miani asked, her voice now low.

"They told me to leave, Ion even know if Lala is okay," Dave admitted with a sigh.

"I'm coming down there," Miani said firmly. "I'll be on the next jet out, keep praying," She spoke softly.

"I can't lose her," Dave mumbled, his eyes burning with tears.

"Neither can I, that's why she's not going anywhere," Miani replied with conviction. They wrapped up on the phone and Dave hung up.

"Man Naala you gotta get up," Dave said to himself. There was no way he would be able to do it on his own.

The baby started to fidget in his arms before she opened her eyes. Her hazel brown eyes stared back at Dave.

"Where did you get these from?" Dave muttered sitting back down. He didn't concentrate on them for long enough because staring into her eyes reminded him of Naala.

"I can't even name you without your mama," He spoke holding on to her tiny hand.

Dave sat back in sadness, he needed Naala to pull through otherwise he would be lost without her.

"Hi," Dr Reece smiled knocking on the door. Dave tried to suss out whether it was good or bad news by the sound of her voice.

"Is she okay?" Dave asked straight away.

"She lost a lot of blood, it seemed like she had a clot that went undiagnosed for a while," Dr Reece started. "That caused her to go into cardiac arrest,"

"What does all of that mean?" Dave asked urgently.

"Naala is a fighter, she is up and awake," Dr Reece confirmed.

"And the baby?" Dave questioned, a small hint of relief running through him.

"They are both doing great," Dr Reece said, emphasise on they.

"Thank you" Dave breathed out a sign of relief. "I can see them?"

"Yes come on," Dr Reece said with a bright smile ushering him along. "But first, this little lady has some tests," She said to him.

"I'm not sure about leaving her," Dave shook his head. Naala would kill him if he let her out of his sight.

"It won't be long, I'll bring her straight back," Claire reassured him.

"Okay," Dave said handing her over carefully, he trusted Claire to look after her.

She directed Dave to Naala's room and turned down the hall, carrying the baby with her.

Dave almost ran to the room, knocking on the door before opening it.

Naala was sat up in the bed, cradling the baby. Her eyes lit up when she saw Dave, even though her tiredness was still present.

"Hey," Naala said to him quietly.

"Hi," Dave responded standing close to the door.

"Come here and meet your son," Naala said holding her hand out for him.

"A boy?" Dave said with a smirk. He walked to her side and like she said, his son laid in her arms.

"A boy," Naala nodded holding him up. She could see how happy he was to finally have a son.

"Thank you man," Dave sniffed taking him from her. He felt like a true bitch for crying but he was overjoyed.

"Don't cry," Naala chuckled, her own eyes filling with tears. "Where's our daughter?" She asked realising he came in without her.

"They running some tests," Dave said taking in his son's face. "He's so quiet," Dave commented.

"I know, he hasn't cried at all," Naala said laying back down.

"You straight though?" Dave asked using his free hand to rub her arm.

"I feel drained," Naala muttered. "It was like one moment I was there and then I wasn't,"

"I'm just glad you okay," Dave expressed taking a seat beside her. Naala smiled and leaned forward meeting him halfway, kissing him lightly.

"You've got your son now," Naala said closing her eyes.

"Yeah because of you," Dave nodded with a smile. "I love you,"

"Love you too," Naala whispered, sleep taking over her.

"I guess it's just me and you now," Dave concentrated on his son.

"Whatchu wanna do?" He asked the baby that had his eyes closed and lips pursed.

"I take that as you telling me to shut the fuck up," Dave laughed getting comfortable in the sofa.

"Stop cursing at him," Naala mumbled in her sleep.

"I forgot about her super sonic hearing," Dave tutted holding his son tighter. Soon after, he fell asleep too, his mind finally at ease.

It felt like a 10 minute nap before Dr Reece came back with their daughter, waking Naala.

"She's so adorable," Naala cooed at her daughter. "Do you think Aamirah suits her?" Naala said to him.

"It do but I'm not sure about Aiden no more," Dave said in regards to their son.

"Aamirah it is but what about you baby boy?" Naala muttered looking over into the cot beside her.

Aamirah wriggled in her mom's arms and scrunched up her face, letting out a small cry.

"Did they feed her?" Naala asked Dave rocking the baby.

"Ion think so," Dave responded as her cries got louder.

"Okay let's try this," Naala mumbled pulling the hospital dress down. She fixed Aamirah at her nipple and tried to guide her head towards it.

Aamirah moved her head drastically and didn't latch on, crying harder.

"You want me to get someone?" Dave stood to his feet.

"She doesn't want it," Naala said switching her over. "I know she's hungry," She added trying with the other nipple.

Dave could see how much she was struggling to get her to latch so he swooped in and lifted her up, trying to shush her cries.

"This has never happened before," Naala said pulling her dress back up.

"It's aight, remember Saint had a hard time too," Dave responded walking around the room.

"Bring her back let me try again," Naala spoke tiredly. Dave did as he was told and handed Aamirah back once her cries had settled.

"You have to work with me baby," Naala spoke quietly guiding her back.

Dave sat down and watching Naala try once more but there was still nothing. This time Aamirah had latched on but nothing seemed to be happening.

"Can you get Claire?" Naala asked Dave, leaning back in the bed. He stood up and kissed her lips,

"Stop worrying," He said to her. He could feel her stress radiating off of her.

Naala nodded and kissed him back before putting her attention back on to their daughter.

When Dave left the room, Naala sighed and ran her hand over Aamirah's head full of hair.

"You don't want mommy's milk?" Naala spoke to her lowly. "Your brother liked it," She added sadly.

Aamirah opened her eyes, exposing her hazel brown pupils. Naala turned her head to the side in disbelief, all their children had standard brown eyes.

Instead of focusing on that, she lifted her nipple into her mouth again and rubbed her back to convince her to eat.

Aamirah didn't cooperate for a while before she randomly latched on and began to eat.

"Thank God," Naala mumbled throwing her head back on her pillow.

Dave took a while to come back and when he did, he was on his own.

"I think she's gone home for the day," He spoke referring to Dr Reece.

"No worries, she's got the hang of it now," Naala pointed downwards at Aamirah who was falling asleep on her breast.

"That's good," Dave smiled, "Well done baby," He said pecking Naala's lips.

"Look at her eyes bae," Naala said rubbing Aamirah's cheek to get her to open her eyes.

"I saw em earlier, Ion know where she gets them from," Dave shrugged lifting the baby boy up. "He needs a name La,"

"I don't know, what about Aasad?" Naala suggested,

"Double A?" Dave said in response.

"Yeah both Aamirah and Aasad with a double A, it's cute," Naala replied looking at him.

"I fuck with it," Dave nodded. Naala sighed and shook her head,

"The cursing Amir. It's got to stop," Naala said with a firm voice.

"Yes boss," Dave smirked moving closer to her. "Aamirah and Aasad, I like it," He spoke closely to her lips.

"I love you," Naala pecked his lips. This was her first pregnancy and birth where her and Dave weren't at odds. There was no cheating scandals, just love.

"I love you more," Dave replied. "Thank you for giving me these two," He added using his large hand to hold her face.

"No thank you," Naala pouted kissing him again. "But you need to go and get some car seats,"

"Did Miss Ruby drop off some clothes for you?" Dave nodded standing up again.

"I think so, I need your help using the bathroom though," She said putting Aamirah down in the cot with Aasad.

At first, Aasad wriggled in discomfort but slowly got used to his sister being close by again.

"Come on," Dave helped her up, mindful of her caesarean scar.

"Ass all out," Dave tutted closing the hospital dress.

"It's not my fault," Naala laughed holding his hand tightly.

"Easy," Dave said as she sat on the toilet. Naala winced and held his hand tighter.

"I think the meds have worn off now," She complained whilst peeing.

"Probably but she'll top you up," He said to her. Looking down at her, Dave was honestly infatuated with her. The fact that she had given him his first son after all their struggles, was amazing to him.

"You're staring." Naala said awkwardly looking away from him.

"I can't help it," Dave responded lowly. "You're amazing,"

"Aw bae. Stop you know my hormones are all over the place." Naala said fanning her eyes.

"You about to cry huh?" Dave laughed helping her up.

"Yeah," Naala said tearfully. "I don't even know why I'm crying," She sniffed linking arms with him.

"You want me to send Mason up here while I go?" Dave questioned as he lifted her back into the bed.

"I'll be fine," Naala waved him off. "I'm gonna sleep anyway,"

"Okay, you called ahead about the seats right?" Dave asked because Naala was very particular about the things she wanted for the babies.

"I ordered them 3 months ago," Naala nodded. "Just tell them your name," She instructed before yawning.

"I won't be long," Dave said leaning down to kiss her twice. "Make sure you actually sleep," He knew Naala and she would most likely stay up watching their every move.

"I will, go so I can leave, I hate hospitals," Naala said pushing him back.

"Love you," Dave said kissing her. "I love y'all too," He said touching the babies.

"We love you too, go," Naala laughed and laid back down properly.

~~

"How the hell?" Dave mumbled to himself as he tried to fix the seats into the car. He was already frustrated because he had to wait 30 minutes for them to find the order.

He picked up the instructions again and read them, throwing them down when he couldn't understand it.

If it was only one baby it wouldn't matter, he would get Naala to hold them the whole way but she couldn't hold two babies.

"What the fuck man," Dave grunted pushing the button harder to make the handle recline.

"Do you need some help?" Dave heard from behind him.

"Yeah otherwise I'm gonna break them," Dave huffed stepping back. The worker chuckled and got closer.

"I've heard these are the best seats for newborns," She smiled leaning into the car to help. Her whole ass was on display, making Dave look away.

"The most expensive too," Dave said holding the car door.

"You have good taste," The girl replied, still fixing the first seat.

"My wife picked them out months ago," Dave responded cooly, making sure to drop the wife bomb.

"Ah, I think I remember," Hailey, the worker spoke. "She came in to do the shopping for the nursery?"

"That's her," Dave nodded wondering why the girl remembered that.

"She was real pretty, well done," Hailey praised moving onto the next seat.

"Thanks," Dave mumbled quietly. He waited for her to be done and then pulled out his wallet.

"You don't have to pay me," Hailey shook her head.

"You didn't have to help me," He said handing her the $100 bill.

"Thank you," Hailey smiled putting the money into her pocket. "Oh and congratulations," She said gesturing to the seats.

"Thanks," Dave gave her a head nod and closed both doors. He got back into the car and started it up.

As soon as he got into the car properly, his phone started to ring through the car system.

"La you good?" Dave questioned into the phone.

"No, she won't stop crying," Naala sniffed, her tears evident through the phone.

"The nurses ain't helping?" Dave said speeding up.

"I don't want them to help me, she's my baby," Naala said, her voice low over the sounds of Aamirah's loud cries.

"What about Aasad?" Dave asked her. Naala huffed and moved the phone closer to her ear.

"He's still sleeping. I feel like she doesn't like me," Naala said in defeat.

"She's going off your energy baby," Dave said soothingly. "You ain't calm so neither is she,"

"Can you just come back?" Naala asked sadly.

"I'm coming, stop crying with her." Dave told her before hanging up.

Back at the hospital, Naala was exhausted. Aamirah was seeming to be very difficult while Aasad was an angel.

"Oh my God, shut her up," Naleli groaned rubbing her head.

"Now isn't the time Naleli," Naala said patting Aamirah's back.

"What is the matter with you?" Naala asked Aamirah. "I've fed you, I've changed you, what is it? You want your daddy?" Naala sighed walking around the room.

"I knew I would find you here," A voice said from behind Naala.
