《Depths Of Fire | House Of The Dragon》1

As the first century of the Targaryen dynasty came to a close, the health of the Old King, Jaehaerys, was failing. In those days, House Targaryen stood at the height of its strength with 10 adult dragons under its yoke. No power in the world could stand against it.
King Jaehaerys reigned over nearly 60 years of peace and prosperity. But tragedy had claimed both his sons, leaving his succession in doubt. So, in the year 101, the Old King called a Great Council to choose an heir. Over a thousand lords made the journey to Harrenhal. Fourteen succession claims were heard but only two were truly considered: Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, the King's eldest descendant, and her younger cousin, Prince Viserys Targaryen, the King's eldest male descendant. Jaehaerys Targaryen: It is declared by all lords paramount and lords vassal of the Seven Kingdoms... that Prince Viserys Targaryen be made Prince of Dragonstone.
Rhaenys, a woman, would not inherit the Iron Throne. The lords instead chose Viserys. Jaehaerys called the Great Council to prevent a war being fought over his succession. For he knew the cold truth. The only thing that could tear down the House of the Dragon... was itself.

Visenya was doing one of the things she enjoyed the most, riding her dragon Naerion, who was named after her mother, along with her cousin Rhaenyra, as they both raced to the Keep.
Both of them were saddled on their respective dragons and flew against the winds that blowed their hair. Soon, the saw the keep and landed together.
"No one won, this time as well." Rhaenrya sighed.
Visenya sorted, " We both know, none of us was trying to win, Nyra."
"Well, we're sisters, Nya, of course we wouldn't try to win against the other."
Visenya and Rhaenrya smiled at each other. They caressed their dragons one last time and then left them in the care of dragon keepers and went to go inside the castle, hand in hand.
" Welcome back, Princesses. I trust your ride was pleasant." Head of the Kingsguard, Ser Harold Westerling said.
"Try not to look too relieved, ser." Rhaenrya told him.
"I am relieved. Every time those golden and lavender beasts bring you both back unspoiled, it saves my head from a spike."
"Our dragons wouldn't harm us." Visenya tried to asure the man but she knew it would be of no use. Only a dragon's rider could understand the relation between themselves and the dragons.

As Visenya walked with her cousin towards the keep, she saw Alicent Hightower standing there, waiting for Rhaenyra more than likely, and groaned. This made Rhaenyra give her a look, which she rolled her eyes at. Visenya and Alicent never got along well, much like their fathers. Visenya thought Alicent was too stuck up and had a habit of judging the people around her while Alicent thought that Visenya was too wild, much like her father and in her opinion didn't act like a proper lady, to which Visenya replied that she isn't a lady but a princess.
Rhaenyra sighed but approached her friend with a smile.
"Syrax is growing quickly. She'll soon be as large as Caraxes." Alicent said with a smile.
"That's almost large enough to saddle two." Rhaenrya told her friend with a suggestive look.
"I believe I'm quite content as a spectator, thank you." Alicent said clearly afraid of the Dragon.
Visenya sighed and gave them a look," If you couples are done checking upon each other, we should hurry Nyra we have a Small Council meeting to attend."
"Sure, but I'll go and visit mother first. Would you like to join?"
Before Visenya could open her mouth to reply, Ser Rodrik came and greeted the princesses with a bow and a nod to Alicent.
"I deeply apologize to interrupt princess but i believe you would like to see this." He said to Visenya and gave her a note.
Without even opening the letter, she knew who it was from, and a genuine smile appeared on her face.
Meet me at your mother's place.
Seeing the bright smile on her cousin's face Rhaenrya gave her a curious look, to which she replied with a one that said, 'I'll tell you later'.
"Well, Alicent, Nyra, you go and visit Aunt Aemma, I believe I'm needed elsewhere."
And then without sparing anyone else a glance she rushed towards the flower gardens at the backside of the castle that everyone claimed to be late Naerys Targaryen's place, due to the amount of time she spent there. Now, after her death only Visenya visited it, except for her father who came there whenever he was at the Red Keep.
As she neared the gardens she composed herself and went in at a normal pace. As soon as she entered the gardens, she saw a figure leaning to a tree, looking down. As soon as the figure listened to the crunch of grass and dry leaves he looked up and laid his eyes on someone he had not seen in quite sometime.

Visenya took some steps towards the figure and then stopped at some distance.
"Kepa, jery emagon issare mirri jēda." Visenya said to her father, Daemon Targaryen, with a serious expression on her face. (Father, it has been sometime.)
"Sȳrī, ziry iksos aōha Uncle Viserys's fault . Ziry's se mēre qilōni jittan issa naejot vale, byka zaldrīzes." Daemon replied with the same stoic look that he has on his face most of the time. (Well, that is your Uncle Viserys's fault. He is the one who sent me to Vale, little Dragon.)
Both looked at each other, until Visenya's broke into a smile and she ran into her father's awaiting arms. Daemon chuckled and spun her around as he used to do when she was a child. After a few seconds Visenya pulled away, and gave her father a bright smile.
"I missed you, father."
"I have missed you too, little dragon. But you know I wouldn't leave you here if it was up to me. And I don't want you to go to Vale with me, you'd be miserable there." He said, genuinely feeling sorry, that he has to stay away from his daughter.
"I know." Visenya told him softly, and gave him a reassuring smile. "Now, would you tell me about all the places you visited, while you were pretending to be in Vale, all this time."
At hearing his daughter's statement, he raised a brow at her, making her snort.
"Please, father as if you would spend more than a few days at that miserable place. I was there for two days and I felt like drowning myself. And we are more alike then others like to admit."
Daemon sighed knowing his daughter was right.
"Well, I'll tell you all about it, when we have dinner this evening. For now tell me what were you doing before coming here." Daemon said as he wrapped a hand around her shoulder and led her to sit on a bench.
" Well, I went dragon riding along with Nyra and then we were walking back to the castle when we met the Hightower Septa."
"Hightower Septa? I didn't knew there was one. " Daemon asked confused.
"Alicent." Visenya said making Daemon snort.
"We really are more alike than I thought." He said while chuckling. "Now, I brought you something."
"What is it?"
Daemon smiled at the eager look on her face and took out a dagger from his cloak. "Here! Now, I know you can handle a sword with ease and protect yourself. But you can't always carry a sword with yourself at the castle and we know that it has more danger than any other place. So, I brought it for you."
Visenya examined the dagger and found it to be lighter and sharper than any other she has ever seen.
"Valarian Steel?" She asked curiously.
"Well, we all should have something of our ancestry. I have Dark Sister, Viserys has his dagger. Now you have yours and I have brought Princess Rhaenrya a trinket."
She smiled at her father. " I love it father, truely. Thank you."
"I knew you would."
"Now, as you spoke of dangers earlier, I think I should go and attend Small Council meeting. Nyra would have returned from the Queen's chambers and I'd rather not face Uncle Corlys's stern gaze, I do believe that their isn't anything more scarier." She said cheekily making Daemon chuckle. "And, I do believe, you also have something diabolical you are planning on doing." She added.
"You have such faith in me, daughter." Daemon snorted.
Visenya smiled and kissed his cheek and went to find her cousin to attend the Small Council meeting.
____________
Hey guys, I hope that you all are doing well. I apologise for the late update. I've been really busy as my classes have started sometime ago and I didn't get much time attending them and completing homework and giving tests. I hope you understand.
Also I changed my lead male characters surname from Martell to Stark as I thought it would suit the story better.
See you next time.
Till then enjoy.
P.S.: I liked the name Moonfire, that one of you sent for Visenya's Dragon, though at last I settled for Naerion, as it shows how much her mother meant to her.
