《Hazelnut - Ryeji》5

"Hwang Yeji!" Lia yelled in the classroom.
Yeji, who is sitting in front of her, looked at Lia and smiled. "What is it?"
Lia looked at her seatmate Chaeryeong and chuckled like an insane person. "Tell her what's wrong." Lia said to her seatmate.
Chaeryeong put her hand in her pocket and pulled out her phone. "Yeji, what's the meaning of this?" Chaeryeong scrolled through her phone trying to find the picture that left them curious and discombobulated.
After minutes of searching, Chaeryeong finally found the picture she's looking for. "What is this?" She showed Yeji her phone.
Yeji squinted and started scanning the picture that her best friends are showing to her. "What's that?" Yeji asked.
Lia sarcastically chuckled at her friend. "Someone saw you and Ryujin together in the hospital. Why? what? how?"
Yeji chuckled and started fixing her beanie that is black and bought from America. Yeji sat down properly while thinking of an answer to her curious friends.
"We're friends." Yeji said.
Chaeryeong raised her right eyebrow and threw a glance at Ryujin who is sitting a few meters away from them and talking to her friends. "Her? she's a troublemaker, Yeji. What if she punches you or beats you up out of the blue? she's a bad person and she likes to pick on weak people like Minju." Chaeryeong said and rested her head on her palm.
"Nope. She's a nice person." Yeji looked at Ryujin. She found herself lost in a daydream when she keeps on thinking about how Ryujin saved her.
"Anyways, what were you doing in the hospital?" Lia asked that made Yeji snap out of her thoughts.
Yeji looked at Lia and awkwardly chuckled. "W-well, I..." Yeji couldn't think of a lie. "I.. hurt my ankle and Ryujin helped me." Yeji explained.
Lia rested her head on her hand while looking at Yeji. She's looking at her face, her movement, her lips, and her eyes. It's obvious that Lia thinks Yeji is lying. "Right." Lia crossed her arms. "You're not sick, are you?"

Yeji was caught off guard with her friend's question. "N-no. Why would I get sick?" Yeji chuckled. "I promise you that the three of us will stay together until we get old."
Chaeryeong let out a big smile while looking at Yeji. "Yep! Anyways, I-" Chaeryeong was cut off when one of their male classmates suddenly appeared in front of them.
The three of them looked at their classmate who was black-haired, 1.85 m tall, and handsome. He was holding something behind his back that made the three friends a little curious.
"What do you need, Soobin?" Yeji tilted her head like a puppy.
Soobin awkwardly chuckled and sat down on the empty chair besides Yeji. "D-do you want to have lunch with me?" He shyly asked.
Yeji rested her head on her hand. "I'm sorry." She apologized.
It was obvious for Soobin that Yeji wasn't interested with him. He stood up and faced the floor with sadness. "Alright. Anyways, here's some ice cream for you." Soobin put the ice cream cup on Yeji's table and handed her a plastic spoon.
Yeji's world lit up when she saw the flavor of the ice cream. "Hazelnut? thanks, Soobin!" Yeji happily said and took the spoon and the ice cream. Yeji scooped a small portion of ice cream with her plastic spoon and placed it inside her mouth without hesitation. As the ice cream touched her taste buds, a satisfied expression formed on her face. 'So good.' Yeji thought to herself while eating.
Soobin smiled at Yeji. "You're welcome. I'll get going now." He looked at the three girls and waved his hand at them and walked away.
When the tall handsome guy is no longer present, Lia leaned forward to her friend. "You should date him." She suggested.
Yeji coughed that almost made her spit out the ice cream in her mouth. "What?" Yeji said.
Chaeryeong leaned forward and chuckled. "I agree. Look at him. He's handsome, smart, tall, and kind. Stop hanging out with that troublemaker and befriend the opposite of her."

Yeji carefully placed the ice cream she was eating on her table and laughed at her friends as she fixed her beanie. "Nope."
Lia crossed her arms and sighed. "Alright. We're just trying to help."
Yeji gave her friend a pat on the head. "Thanks for the concern, but I have no time for relationships."

"Shin Ryujin!!!!" My friends yelled as they ran towards me.
I looked behind me while walking away from our school. "Hey." I weakly said and waved at them.
It was a peaceful afternoon. There were kids running around, students playing with their friends, old people sweeping the dirt on the ground, and leaves that are dancing along with the wind.
I paused for a moment so I can wait for my friends. They were carrying their bags and plastic bags while running towards me.
I crossed my arms as I inhaled and exhaled the beautiful scent. I originally wanted to kill myself this day, but I didn't want to die on a peaceful day. The only thing that can make me even more satisfied is a ballad or a serenade.
I started daydreaming about someone singing a song in front of me while strumming a guitar while the two of us are surrounded by candle lights. I was mesmerized by the made up sound and the divine feeling.
I was busy thinking about my reverie that I didn't even realize my friends are standing in front of me with their arms crossed.
"Ryujin!" Hyunjin yelled that melted my daydream.
I got startled. I looked at my friends and I chuckled awkwardly. "H-hey."
Heejin opened the plastic bag she was holding and showed me an object that seems to be spray paint. "Hey, let's write a curse word on the principal's car." She whispered.
I placed my hand behind my head and started caressing my hair. "I can't come with you today."
"Why?" They asked in unison.
"I-I'm really sad. I've been having a lot of problems lately." I explained.
The two chuckled at me. "What? there's no such thing as sadness, Ryujin." Heejin said.
Hyunjin connected her arms with Heejin. "Yep. Stop being sad, dummy." She said.
The two walked away from me.
I was standing still. I faced the ground with sadness. "Are my only friends even worried about me?" I asked myself.
I looked at the blue sky and I started thinking. My heart was broken into pieces once again and the giant wound on my chest is starting to grow larger.
"Should I kill myself today?" I asked.
"Don't." Someone suddenly spoke behind me that startled me.
I looked behind me and my eyes met the eyes of a cat looking girl.
"Yeji." I said.
Yeji walked towards me with a concerned expression on her face. She placed her hand on my shoulder that made me a little confused. "I'm here, Ryujin. You can talk to me."
I clicked my tongue and I shoved her hand away. "The hell are you talking about?"
She crossed her arms and glared at me. "You need real friends. Those two girls you call friends aren't even worried about you."
I placed my hands in my pocket and chuckled weakly. "What are you saying?"
"I want to befriend you. You know, Ryujin. I won't be here for too long so I won't be by your side until the end." She said that made me even more confused. "You should get good friends or even a boyfriend or a girlfriend. You need someone who will listen to you and give you warmth."
I crossed my arms. "Alright. Sure." I scoffed.
"I'll get going now." I said and walked away from her.
