Yippee (insert autism creature yippee thingy) agere Marcy again

But yea uh this is a v late update bc I had final exams and then I got sick BUT ITS SUMMER BREAK NOW WHICH MEANS I GET TO WRITE MORE OFTEN

Anyway I think little Marcy would be even more obsessive with rules and stuff & would have an even harder time struggling with changes (major changes as well as small ones). So I incorporated a tiiiiiinnnnyyyy bit of that in here. She's also more sensitive ("picky") to food textures n stuff

Title is the song Little Moth by Chloe Moriondo

Anne was late to their sleepover, having needed to help her parents with the restaurant again.

Which wasn't usually a problem; Sasha and Marcy had hung out without Anne dozens of times. This time, however, was different.

"Sashy?"

Sasha adjusted the phone in her hands, anxiously waiting for Anne to pick up. "Hold on, Marce, I gotta... talk to Anne real quick..."

Marcy crossed her arms and huffed, crawling over to where Sasha sat on the bed and shaking her arm.

"Marcy, just give me a second, please?"

At last, Anne picked up. "Sash, I'm working! Why are you calling?"

At hearing the annoyance in her tone, Sasha almost hung up right then and there, but then looked back to Marcy- who was still trying to get her attention- and decided against it.

"Listen, Marcy's- she's like, little, I guess. Whatever, point is, I don't know what I'm supposed to do."

"It's not like you haven't seen her like this before, just do what you normally do! I'm busy!" Anne whispered into the phone. Shuffling and other voices could be heard in the background, muffling the audio.

"Yeah, but you're normally here! Anne, I don't even know how old she is or anything. You're the one who deals with this stuff, not me!" Sasha whispered back.

Marcy perked up at hearing Anne's name and she shuffled over to the phone. "Annie!"

"Hi, Mars-bars! Are you being good for Sasha?" Anne asked, voice softening.

"Mhm!"

"That's awesome, Marce! I'll be there soon", Anne said, then lowered her voice to a whisper, "she regresses anywhere from two to five. She's mostly nonverbal at two and three, so it sounds like she's maybe four or five right now. Listen, I need to go. Just... I don't know, ask her what she wants to do. Oh, and please try to have her eat an actual meal. If she can't, it's fine, just give her goldfish or graham crackers or whatever. There's mint chocolate chip ice cream in the freezer, but she can't have any until after she has dinner. You'll figure it out, I'll be there in a few hours."

"Wait, Anne-"

"Bye!"

The phone call ended with a click, and Sasha groaned.

"Are you mad with me?" Marcy asked quietly. Sasha's annoyed expression faded into a much softer one.

"No, I'm not mad, alright? Just... a little stressed, is all."

Marcy frowned and climbed into Sasha's lap, hugging her tightly. "Anne gives me hugs when I'm sad, and then I feel all better. I don't like it when you're sad", she mumbled.

Sasha smiled and laughed, most of her previous anxiety fading. "Thanks, Marce."

After a few moments of awkward silence, Sasha spoke up again, clearing her throat. "Is there anything you want to do, or...?"

Marcy's eyes lit up. "Color! Can we color?"

"Uh, sure- just-"

Before she could finish her sentence, Marcy was already running off excitedly, returning in an instant with an assortment of coloring books.

"That's... a lot. Wow, I definitely did not know you had that many!"

Marcy beamed. "Anne got them for me! Here!" She passed one off to Sasha, flipping to a page of a dragonfly and pointing at it. "You're gonna color this one!"

"Oh, uh, okay! What are you going to color?"

Marcy flipped through her coloring book for a moment, tongue out in concentration.

"Uhm, gonna color... a caterpillar!" She exclaimed, frantically pointing at the page to make sure Sasha was looking.

"Yeah, I see it, Marbles! Caterpillars are cool, aren't they?"

"Mhm! When they get all grown up, they turn to butterflies! And they have six eyes, but they can't see colors 'n pictures outta them! They only see light and stuff!"

Sasha smiled fondly, nodding along attentively as Marcy continued to list off caterpillar facts while she colored.

The two fell into a comfortable silence, the only sound being Marcy's quiet humming to a made-up song.

The near-silence was disrupted by a buzz from Sasha's phone, a text lighting up the screen. She picked it up and slid the message open.

Has Marcy had dinner yet? Be there in like an hour or two ig, parents want me to help close :/

Sasha inhaled through her teeth. Shoot. Forgot about dinner.

Having dinner now!!

"Marce, are you hungry?"

"Nuh uh", she replied, not taking even a second to look up from her drawing.

"You have to eat, bud. Is there anything you might want?"

"Ice cream?"

"You can't have ice cream for dinner", Sasha rubbed her temples, beginning to put the crayons back into their bin.

"Hey! I'm not done!" Marcy cried, dumping the crayons back out again.

"Marcy...", Sasha sighed, "how about I give you five more minutes to color, but then you have to clean up and eat dinner. Deal?"

"And then ice cream?"

"And then ice cream."

"M'kay!"

Sasha sighed with relief. Marcy quickly finished her drawing, helping Sasha put everything away before rushing toward the kitchen.

Sasha opened the pantry in search of something a picky four-year-old might actually want. "What are you hungry for, Marbles?"

"Can I have peanut butter and jelly? But you gotta make it how Anne makes it!" Marcy exclaimed, swinging her legs.

"How does Anne make it?"

"No crust! And they gotta be in triangles, please!"

"Alright, you got it."

"Can we watch cartoons?" Marcy added.

"I don't think we can eat on the couch, I'm pretty sure Anne.. said..." Sasha trailed off, watching as Marcy pouted and looked up at her with sad eyes. She did that face on purpose, Sasha knew. She hated it, she hated it so much, because it somehow worked on her every single time.

"Fine, go turn on the TV."

"Yay!"

Sasha followed her to the living room shortly after finishing making her sandwich, as well as grabbing a bowl of mint ice cream- both of which Marcy downed within five minutes.

Happily, she settled into Sasha's lap. Sasha draped a blanket over the both of them, trying to make herself as comfortable as possible- she could tell by the way Marcy curled into her chest, eyes drooping, that she would be stuck there for a good few hours.

She found herself growing tired as well, a yawn escaping her as she stared softly at a now-sleeping Marcy.

She felt the TV audio fade into nothing but white noise, yawning again and shutting her eyes.

Sasha's phone buzzed twice with new notifications that wouldn't have a chance to be read.

Omw, how r u guys

???

Anne opened the door, finding the house dead silent aside from the TV running in the living room.

"Sasha? Marce?"

She went to grab the remote to turn off the TV, but froze in place instantly, mouthing an 'aww'.

Marcy and Sasha were cuddled together on the couch, Marcy curled into Sasha with a thumb in her mouth, Sasha's arms wrapped tightly around her, both fast asleep with a blanket lazily draped over them.

Anne made sure to get a few photos before covering the two with another blanket, smiling softly.
