《Wolfs Bride(bwwm)》Chapter Fourteen

Deciding that I needed to get away, I gave a call to Leigh who'd made it her mission to text me a hundred times a day.

Checking my wrist watch, I leaned against the wall outside of a small town café that Leigh insisted had the best little cakes.

"Argo!"

Hearing my name, I looked up from staring at the toes of my converses. Leigh rushed over to me, from across the street she was followed by someone I hadn't met yet.

She stopped in front of me her green eyes narrowed, "Why haven't you answered any of my calls? And what is this about a wedding?"

"Wedding?" A calm voice repeated, I turned my attention to said speaker. She was about my height at 5'10, her skin was a tad bit darker than my own. "You're getting married, aren't you like eighteen?"

Surprised that the person knew my name, I turned a questioning gaze towards Leigh. Who it finally dawned on; that she had yet to introduce us.

"Oh!" She shook her head as she motioned towards the young-women, "Sorry, Argo this is Jane our moms are really good friends. My mom saw I was going out, and since her mom had come over to chat she wanted me to bring Jane along." Leigh leaned forward and whispered, "Don't worry she's cool."

I turned my attention towards Jane, "Hi, I'm sorry you got dragged along by Leigh."

Jane shrugged, "It's cool, other than bible study I'm sure this will probably be the only other thing going on today. And it's way better than listening to my mom gossip."

We made our way inside, ordering drinks and cakes, that were topped with whip cream and cute little eatable stickers.

"So... what's this about marriage?" Liegh said, her eyes narrowed in curiosity. "I know your parents are like "Old fashion" but what about college?" Her expression turned concerned. "Do you even want it?"

I turned my wavering eyes away to view the outside, someone needed to clean the window better. "I'm not being forced, but-." I left off trying to pull together my thoughts.

"Do you like the supposed groom?" Jane suddenly asked, drawing my attention. She smiled, "That's the only thing that would make me stick with an arranged marriage."

"Even if I loved him, would I? I mean, could I give up my possible future for him?" Why did my chest hurt, I could hear the tremble in my voice, "I don't want to depend on someone Leigh. I don't want to have hopes and dreams dependent on another's existence."

"Ooh love," Leigh laid a hand over mine, she frowned, "You shouldn't do anything you don't want to do. I'll support you all the way, no matter what."

A hand appeared holding a fork, that still had a piece of chocolate. "Count me in." Leigh and I looked at Jane blankly, "Oh and thanks for the cake it's sort of my birthday."

"What?!" Leigh exclaimed, "Why didn't you tell me. "She lifted a hand and shouted over to the waiter they had all ogled when they'd first entered. "Yo, Two big choco-bananas Asap!"

Laughing, me and Jane snickered. I wasn't sure that was going to work but it took my mind off of the pending marriage...coming in two days, ugh.

Ewan exited the bathroom, the steam rolled into his room. The towel he wore was slung low on his hips, as he walked over to the vanity table. He sensed something behind him, whipping around he was surprised to meet the sharp, hungry gaze of Argo's sister. She stood in the doorway, her eyes roving over his body.

"What are you doing here?"

Chelsey smirked, "Why wouldn't I be here?" She walked deeper into the room shutting the door behind her. "I do live on this land."

Narrowing his eyes, Ewan stood still. "You may live on this land, but if we're discovered alone it will be hard to explain your presence."

Chelsey stopped in front her eyes coy, but her lips quirked in a smirk. She lifted a hand and lightly placed it on his chest. "And what if it isn't an understanding?" She bit her lip, the message clear in her eyes. "We both know my sister isn't exactly the desirable type."

Ewan frowned down at her, he would have rather pushed her away but he didn't want to hurt her. "I don't know what your attempting but it won't work." With that he stepped back, only to have his back bump into the vanity.

Glancing backwards, he felt her press herself to his chest, jerking his head back around his widened when her lips pressed into his.

The door popped opened and before he could shove Chelsey off him, he found himself staring into soft browns. That were wide in surprise, quickly he pushed Chelsey away and walked towards Argo.

**

Chelsey was kissing Ewan.

At first I didn't feel much of anything aside from a mild amusement. Ewan forced aside, and walked towards me. Why did the man insist on walking around half-naked, didn't he know there were female dogs wondering around who were eager to take a bite out of him?

And with a sudden clarity, I grabbed the hand Ewan had lifted to touch my shoulder. "Are you okay?" He asked his eyes searching her eyes before glancing at Chelsey who was frowning at them both, "I didn't invite her in."

"I know." I whispered, moving past him I walked over to Chelsey.

She frowned at me, snapping. "What?!" she clicked her tongue, "I thought I'd give something sweet to remember me by." With that she smirked, and moved to walked past me.

Raising my hand, I grabbed her arm.

She glared at me, "Let go." She pulled at her arm, only for me to tighten my hold. She winced, "Owe that hurts."

I leaned over, my lips near her ear. "Everything I've ever gotten you wanted." I pulled back, so her eyes that showing pain, met mine. "Still I have never denied you the right of a Beta."

"O-we, it h-hurts A-argo." Her eyes welled, "Let go." She whimpered, I'm sure from feeling my nails digging into her arm.

I felt heat in my eyes, my spine twitched. "Yet, you have over stepped." I turned so I could see Ewan's face. He looked on in mild shock, but I could a small amount of pride I his gaze.

Our eyes met. "He is mine." I grinned, "His lips, his body, his very soul is all mine."

I let go of her arm, Chelsey quickly moved away from me. She cursed, "Your crazy! Wait till I tell dad, you're gonna wish you were dead."

She ran out passed Ewan, whose eyes were focused on me. He hadn't moved, but I could feel the passion in his eyes.

"You ran."

Two words shouldn't have caused a wave of heat to suffuse my cheeks. I dropped my gaze. "I needed to get away."

"From me?"

"Sorta." I said, gathering the courage to face him. "Ewan we agreed to work together to take away what my father loves the most. Despite what is between us, I want you to know that I have no intention of staying. I can't stay."

"Can't, or won't?"

I felt the anger in his voice, his cold eyes cut through me. "Argo there is obvious attraction between us, as well as a mutual respect. I don't see why you wish to not stay-."

"Stay here," I laughed, "And be a servant for the rest of my life? Or what become a wife a mother, before I can even experience the world." I shook my head, "Why are Alpha's always so sure they are the ones with the right answer?"

"I don't know if I have the right answer," Ewan said, somehow he'd grown larger. He walked forward and placed a hand on my shoulder, "But what makes you so sure I am not the right answer. Why can't I be the one who brings you salvation?"

"Because," I swallowed, my mouth, "You don't love me. You love the power marrying will bring you." I dropped my gaze, staring at my toes, and whispered. "Especially for the land, that your clan can live on now that they have no place for themselves."

His hand tensed, and he lifted it from my shoulder. And stepped back, his eyes narrowing. I could see the thoughts running through his mind.

"You know?"

Fidgeting, I nodded.

"I'm not angry, it's nice to be able to help my husbands to be family."

"Who?"

"Ah, I overheard Thomas talking on the phone." Crossing my arms, I sighed. "And mom always comes to me to complain about any and everything, so she enjoyed going on a rant about how you pushed the wedding further up. I mean, I knew you couldn't- wouldn't suddenly find me so fascinating."

"Stop."

"I'm the Omega, it would be strange if you desired me over Chelsey." I couldn't hear anything; I didn't want to hear anything. Walking towards him I laid a hand on his shoulder. "We'll be married in two days. I'm glad that I could bring you something useful."

I quietly left the room. Hoping this would end all of Ewan attempts to drag me closer to him.

Like Leigh said, I should do what I desired, and I truly desired to be free.

So why did it feel like I'd done something wrong?

Shaking my head, I quickly left not looking behind.
