I pulled back.

I smiled at her.

"We should get back to our seats," I said.

She nodded and pushed herself up.

I climbed out of bed and held out my hand for her, to help her up.

When we arrived back at my place, Livie seemed to be a little nervous.

"Hey. Everything is going to be okay. I promise," I said trying to appease her.

She smiled at me and nodded.

"Let's go," I said.

"Mr. Henderson, Ms. Lazos, it's so wonderful to have you back," she greeted us. "And oh my goodness," she said once her eyes landed on our sons.

"They look so much like you, Mr. Henderson."

I smiled proudly. "They do, don't they," I said smugly.

Livie simply chuckled and shook her head, while rolling her eyes at me.

"What are their names?" Gail asked.

"This one is Jarred, he's older by a minute and six seconds," I look to Livie. "Right?"

She nodded.

"And this right here, is Jaydan."

"What beautiful names for two handsome boys," she said.

"Well you two must be hungry. I've prepared some food for you. Let me take care of those boys while you two eat and get settled. Olivia, dear. It's good to have you back. I've missed you," Gail said.

"Thanks, Gail. I've missed you too."

Gail smiled. "Well now go on and freshen up. Let me get to know these two little munchkins," she said as she held out her arms for the boys.

The boys squealed and leaned themselves towards Gail.

"Alright. We'll be right down to eat what you've prepared for us," I said and took Livie's hands and led her up the stairs.

"Where will I be staying?" She asked.

"In my room," I said simply.

"But..."

"Livie, I promise I won't do anything you don't want me too. I'll be on my best behaviour. Scouts honour."

She chuckled. "You weren't a Boy Scout, so that doesn't count. I just don't think it's a good idea. It's just a month and then..."

"Livie, we've slept together before. Look, this is part of the whole getting to know each other and getting used to each other again, routine that we were talking about. I promise to stay on my side of the bed," I said.

She bit her lip and was obviously deep in thought about it, while I stood before hoping she agrees.

Then finally she sighed and said, "alright. But you better stay true to your words, mister!" She said while narrowing her eyes at me.

"Yes, ma'm," I said in mock salute.

She chuckled.

"Why don't you freshen up first and I'll just make a couple of calls."

She nodded. "Okay."

I watched her grab a few things from her bags before heading to the bathroom.

I pulled out my phone and contacted my lawyer to prepare a few things for me.

After giving instructions to my lawyer, I called my brother Ethan.

He answered on the third ring.

"Hey, big bro. Where have you been? I've been trying to reach you," he said.

"Hey. Yeah sorry about that. I had some important things to take care of."

"Is everything alright?" He asked.

"Yeah. Everything's good. Listen, do you want to meet up and grab some lunch tomorrow?"

"Sure, as long as you're buying," he said.

I chuckled. "Cheapskate!"

"You're rich. You can afford it," he retorted with a laugh.

"Like you're not, Mr. Number One Real Estate Developer, according to LA's Time Magazine," I said.

He chuckled. "Well, what can I say... I really am the best," he said smugly.

I laughed. "Yes you are. I'm proud of you little brother," I said. "Dad and mom would have been too."

"Thanks. They would have been proud of all of us."

"Yes. They would have..."

"But hey, I gotta go. I have a meeting with this broker," he said.

"Alright."

"Later, big bro, just text me the time and place for lunch tomorrow," he said.

"Alright. Later," I said before ending the call.

The news about Livie and the twins is going to be hard to break to him. I have a feeling he's going to be more accepting of the twins than Livie.

I turned around just when Livie came out of the bathroom. There was a lightness to her. A lightness that has not been there ever since I found her.

I smiled.

She looked more like the Livie I knew. The one who always has a ready smile for everyone. Someone who laughs at the silliest things. The one who offered her love and affections freely. The one who was kind and thoughtful.

"Is everything okay?" Livie asked as she came out of the bathroom.

I turn to her and nodded. "Yeah. Everything's great. That was my brother. I'm meeting him for lunch tomorrow."

"Oh..." The uneasy look was back on her face.

I find that I don't like that look on her.

"Hey... Come here," I said as I held out my arms to her.

She looked at my outstretched arms before finally moving towards me, slowly.

She walked into my arms, and I wrapped them tightly around her, giving her a tender squeeze.

I wrapped my arms around her. "It will be fine. You'll see. Jason knows and he took it well. It might take a little time for Ethan to warm up to you again, but in time he'll come around."

Livie looked doubtful.

"I have to tell him before this gets out to the press."

"Yeah, I understand. I just..."

"We both knew this wasn't going to be easy right?"

She nodded.

"But we have each other now. In time everything will be okay," I said.

She nodded and smiled.

I kissed the top of her head.

"We better head back downstairs and save Gail from the little munchkins," I said.

She chuckled. "You don't want to freshen up first?"

I chuckled. "I'll shower later," I said. But an idea came to mind. "Wait, you know what, I have a better idea. Why don't we go out for dinner tonight?" I asked Livie.

"Really?" She asked.

"Yeah. We can celebrate our first night back in LA," I said.

"I'd like that," she said, then frowned.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

She bit her lip. "Well..."

"What is it?" I asked.

"I don't have anything to wear," she said.

I laughed softly. "Don't worry sweetheart, come," I said and led her to the walk-in closet we used to share.

"I think they still fit you, it might be a little loose. You lost some weight, but you might be able to find something. They're in good condition. If not we can always call Evangeline and have her sent some dress for you," I said.

"You kept my clothes..." She whispered.

"I..." Yes. I did.

"Why?" She asked.

I shrugged. "I couldn't find it in me to throw them away."

Tears welled in her eyes.

"Hey... Don't cry..."

She threw herself at me and hugged me. "I want this to work, Lucas. I really do," she said.

"Then we will. We'll make it work. I swear it, sweetheart," I said.

When we pulled apart, I cupped her face and kissed her.

"Why don't you get ready in here, and I'll get ready in the other room. I'll wait for you downstairs. I'll make some reservations at your favourite restaurant. Then, I'll save Gail from the munchkins," I said.

She laughed. "Okay. Sounds good."

I nodded then kissed her one last time, before leaving.

After getting ready in the room next door, I went back downstairs to see the twins.

I found them in the playroom I have asked my secretary to set up.

"I hope they are not giving you a hard time, Gail," I said.

She waved her hand dismissively. "They are absolutely adorable. I can't believe how much alike they look like you. It's eerie."

I laughed. "Well at least you can be sure that they will be handsome when they grow older," I smirked.

She laughed. "I just hope they don't inherit your stubbornness."

I groaned.

"I'm just glad you finally got your senses back and went after her. It only took you two years."

"Gail..." I groaned.

"What? I'm just telling the truth. That girl is the best thing that's ever happened to you!"

"You know what she did. What was I supposed to do?"

Gail sighed and shook her head. "I thought you were a brilliant man. I guess I was wrong," she said.

"What's that supposed to mean? Am I the only one here who understands how badly she hurt me? She..."

"Luke, I don't meddle in your life, but you're forgetting that I watched you grow up into the man you are now, and the man I know you to be. The man your parents and your grandpa raised you to be, is a man who is fair. A man who listens. You were neither of those things to Olivia."

Her words silenced me.

Fair?

Olivia betrayed me! Cheated on me!

What's fair? Take her back?

Forgive her?

Pretend it didn't happen?

I don't need this right now.

"I'm taking Livie out for dinner," I said not wanting to talk about this matter any further.

Gail sighed and nodded. "Sounds good to me. You two have a wonderful time. Don't worry about the boys. I'll take care of them," she said.

I nodded. "I know you will."

I kissed my sons before leaving to see if Livie was ready.

I walk into the foyer on my way to the stairs, and stopped on my tracks when I saw Livie coming down the stairs.

My breath caught in my throat.

She looked so damn beautiful.

Our eyes collide and she gave me a small shy smile.

She seemed a little nervous and unsure as she was coming down the stairs.

I gave her an encouraging smile.

I walk towards her and met her half way.

"I can't breathe," I said.

"What? Why?" She asked worriedly.

"You look so damn beautiful, you took my breath away," I said.

She burst out laughing.

I grinned at her. "Seriously though... Wow. You look stunningly beautiful, sweetheart," I said.

"Thanks," she said.

"Ready to go?" I asked.

She nodded. "But I want to say goodbye to the twins first," she said.

"Of course," I said and led her to the playroom.

After kissing the boys goodbye, we got into the car and drove to Belagio's. Livie's favourite Italian restaurant.

We walked inside the restaurant and was led to a table, overlooking the ocean.

"I missed this place," Livie said.

"Me too."

"When were you here last?" she asked.

"The last time I was here was with you," I said honestly.

Colour rose to her cheeks. "Oh..." was all she said.

"Luke?" I winced at the sound of that familiar voice, while Livie jumped in surprise.

I glanced up to find Caroline Holst standing there.

"Caroline," I greeted politely.

"I can't believe you're here? What brings you here? And who is your guest?" She asked.

I forced myself not to snort. She knows damn well who Olivia is. She's just here to cause trouble. I had to reign myself in to stop myself from saying something nasty to her, or have her escorted out of the premises.

"I'm here with Olivia, as you can see," I said.

That's when she looked over at Livie. "Olivia? The one who cheated on you and slept with your best friend?" She asked, causing Livie to gasp in shock.

I clenched my jaw tightly.

"That's enough Caroline. My fiancé and I are having a private dinner. You've said your hello, now please leave," I said.

"Fiancé?" She asked in surprise.

"Yes. You heard it right."

"Wow. I can't believe you would take her back, after what she and Nick did to you."

Livie paled and she threw her napkin on the table and got on her feet, but before she could leave, I stopped her with a look.

"Caroline, you are out of line. You have no right to speak to my fiancé that way. What she and I have is our business not yours or anyone else for that matter. You have overstayed your welcome, and I advise you to leave. And if I ever hear you utter one single insult against Olivia, I will personally make sure that you lose the reputation you protect with your life. I know things Caroline. Things you wouldn't want to get out. I suggest you keep what happened here to yourself, if you don't want me to open my mouth!"

Caroline blanched. "Oh come one, Luke. I was just..."

"Enough!"

Both Livie and Caroline jumped at the the tone of my voice.

"Do we understand each other Caroline?"

She nodded. "Not a word," she said, and quietly left.

My body was vibrating with anger, but it was nothing compared to the fury in Livie's eyes, as she stood there with her fists clenched tightly.
