《His Heart's Desire (Book 2 in His Heart's Series)》Prologue

"Sweetheart, why didn't you tell me?" I asked after the first time we made love.

She blushed in embarrassment and covered her eyes with her arm.

I chuckled, as I pry her arm from her eyes. "Don't be embarrassed. That's nothing to be embarrassed about. You have no idea how much it pleases me to know that I am the only man who has ever made love to you."

Olivia smiled softly. "I wanted to be my first time to be with the man I loved."

I smiled at her tenderly and kissed her tenderly on her lips. "I am honoured, sweetheart; and I'll never get tired of hearing how much you love me," I said.

"Me neither. Tell me again," she asked.

"I love you."

"Again."

"I love you."

"Again.

"I love you, Livie. I love you so much."

"I love you too, Lucas," she said. I love the sound of my full name on her lips. Nobody calls me Lucas, so it makes it special, knowing that my Livie is the only one who calls me by my full name. I am Lucas to her, and she is Livie to me.

"I love you, so much, Livie. You own my heart, mind, body, and soul."

She smiled as tears welled up in her eyes. "I'm yours completely, agápi mou."

We sealed our love with a kiss.

Later that night, as the soft light of dawn crept into the room, I looked down on the woman I loved with all my heart sleeping beside me. Her head resting on my chest.

I caressed her cheek softly with the back of my hand and ran my fingers through her soft dark golden brown hair cascading across my chest to the arm I have wrapped around her.

I bent down and kissed the top of her head. "I love you Livie," I whispered. "You are so damn beautiful. I love everything about you. Thank you for making me the happiest man in the world by coming home with me and leaving the life you've always known just to be with me."

She stirred and snuggled closer to me. "Hmmm, love you," she mumbled.

I smiled.

I met Olivia in Greece while I was there to oversee the last few details before I open the new branch of Henderson hotel and resort in Athens.

She ran smack hard into me while I was stepping out of my hotel.

I step out of my hotel and a woman ran into me. Hard.

I caught her in my arms before she doubled over. "Are you alright..." The words died in my mouth once I saw the woman's face.

She was beautiful.

Stunning...

Her cheeks were flushed as colour rose to her cheeks.

"Yes. I'm so sorry," she stammered out as she pushed away from me and tried to straighten up and rearrange her clothing.

"I'm the one who's sorry... Ms?" I asked.

She frowned and ignored my question. "It's quite alright Mister. I was not paying attention to where I was going. I'm sorry. I won't take more of your time," she said and tried to walk past me.

"Wait," I said grabbing her arm to stop her. "Are you sure you're okay?"

She nodded. "Yes."

"Well... I feel really bad, would you at least let me offer to buy you some lunch? I'm on my way to grab some and I would really like it if you joined me," I said.

"That's very kind of you, but that's not necessary and to be quite frank. I don't know you," she said.

I chuckled. "I can assure you, I am not a bad person."

"And how would I know that for sure? Of course you'll say you aren't. What kind of psycho admits that they are one to their victim?" She retorted.

I threw my head back and laughed. "Touché. But look I really am not a psycho, as you put it. Here," I said as I pulled out my business card and offered it to her. "That's my name on that card. I'm here on business overseeing the last details before Henderson Hotel and Resort opens. I don't if you've heard of..."

"Oh I know that hotel," she said, interrupting me. Then her eyes widen in shock as it slowly sunk in to her who I was. "You own Henderson Hotel and Resort?"

I nodded. "This one and a few others all over the world," I said knowing that she'll definitely be hanging on to me after finding out that I am THE Henderson. All women do.

But she surprised me, "Is that supposed to impress me?" She asked as she folded her arms across her chest, clearly unimpressed with who I am.

I raised my eyebrows at her in surprise. "You're a feisty little thing aren't you?"

She frowned. "Look flaunting your wealth may work on other women, but not me. I don't care if you're the President or the richest man in the world. I still don't know you well enough to have lunch with you," she said as she tilted her chin up.

I opened my mouth to say something, but she interrupted me again. "Oh, and I'm not little," she said. "Just wanted to add that."

I let out an airy laugh. "I didn't mean... It was just an expression," I started to say. She's definitely not little I'd say she's about five foot six inches in height to my six foot two inches.

"Look, thanks again for the offer but I better go."

"Oh come on. You're probably here on vacation? Won't you be kind as to join your fellow American- guessing from your accent, I mean you are American right? Anyways, it's just lunch. You can pick the place. We can walk and I'll have my driver meet us there. My men have to stay though for security reasons."

"Not that it's any of your business, but my mother is American while my father is Greek. But I moved here permanently when I was eleven. Anyways, why go to all this trouble just to have lunch with me?" She asked.

I shrugged. "Even better. You can be my tour guide, since you've been living here most of your life. And to answer your question, I don't really know. You're different. I'd like to get to know you more and it would be a nice change not eating lunch alone. So what do you say?" I asked and gave her my best puppy dog eyes.

She laughed. "Oh god. You're laying it on thick mister," she said.

For a few seconds there I thought she was going to blow me off. But she looked at me, and but her bottom lip, clearly contemplating whether she should agree or not.

"Please?"

She sighed. "Fine. But I choose the place."

I smiled. "Deal."

Livie was unlike anyone I have ever met before. She wasn't drawn to me by the fact that I was rich In fact, it made her weary of me.

I chuckled at the memory.

I still remember that day as if it were yesterday. She was a breath of fresh air. She was funny and full of life, even though she had a rough childhood. She lost both her parents when she was eleven, and moved here to be with her grandmother who passed away just over a year before we met. I guess that's why we immediately connected. We both suffered the loss of our parents at a young age. It was a pain that we both know well and shared.

From that moment on, I pursued her. It wasn't long until she got more comfortable with me. We spent everyday together. She showed me around Athens. She took me to places I never even knew existed. It was the 'heart of Athens,' as she called it.

For the first time in a long time, I felt happy. Relaxed. But everyday that passes, I knew I was getting closer to leaving. I knew I had to get back to my life in LA. But I also knew that there was no way I was living Livie behind.

I was in love with her. I fell for her from the very first moment our eyes met. I fell even deeper in love with her the more I got to know her. But the moment I knew for sure that she was the one for me, was when we were sitting at the top of the lighthouse, as we were watching the sunset. It hit me square in the face. I turned to her and she had her eyes closed. She was smiling softly. The sun was reflected on her skin, giving her this beautiful and mesmerizing glow. I was a goner.

My grandfather's advice rang in my head. He told me that once I find the one, I should make sure that I do everything I can to keep her. So I asked her to come with me. I remember how her face transformed into a huge grin and she threw herself at me. Hugging me tightly. She confessed that she was really sad knowing that I was leaving soon, and she was afraid that she was never going to see me again. I assured her that I was determined to do everything in my power to convince her to come with me, and that all she had to do was say yes. And she did. She said yes, and now here we are a month later since we've been back from Greece, madly in love with each other.

I smiled. I am madly in love with this girl and I can't imagine my life without her.

My Livie is special.

She's amazing... She's kind and full of life. She can light up a room with her smile. She makes my day better and brighter.

My day begins and ends with her and now I know for sure that there is only one more thing I need to do, to make sure I keep her and spend the rest of my life making her even more happier as she has made me.

I'm going to ask Livie to marry me.

I looked back down at her sleeping form and hugged her closer to me.

I settled and finally fell into a dreamless sleep.

***

It has taken me a week to get back from Rio to settle a problem that came up with one of the managers at the resort. The only good thing that came out of that trip was that I found the perfect ring for Livie.

I can't wait to see her tonight.

I pat my pocket making sure that the ring was in my pocket. I planned on proposing to her where we first. I have everything set up. The jet was waiting for us, ready the fly to Athens tonight.

I can't wait to see the look on Livie's face once she finds out where I'm taking her and why.

As I was getting ready to leave the house to pick up Livie up from the studio, my best friend Nick burst into the front doors.

"What... Is everything okay?" I asked.

"I'm so sorry Luke. So fucking sorry," he said.

I frowned. "Why are you saying sorry?"

"Luke I swear I didn't meant for it to happen. I swear it."

"Didn't mean for what to happen?" I asked.

"I slept with Olivia," he blurted out and I felt the blood drain in my face.

Did I hear him right? No... I...

"What the fuck did you say?"

"I had sex with Olivia," he said again.

Rage washed all over me. "You son of a bitch!" I grab him on his collar and slammed him against the wall.

"I'm sorry man, it just happened. She threw herself at me, and I tried to resist, but she was relentless," Nick said.

I released him and punched him in the face so hard, I felt and heard my knuckles crack. But the pain was nothing compared to the devastation and hurt I feel deep inside of me.

I looked back at the man, I thought was my best friend with rage and fury in my eyes.

"Get the fuck out of my life and out of my home. If I ever see your fucking face again, I'm going to kill you!"

"Luke, listen to me. You're like a brother to me..." He started to say and I punched him again.

"Luke, I wanted to tell you because I can't take the guilt. I didn't meant to hurt you."

"De Luca, I'm only going to say this once more. Get the hell out of my house. Don't you dare show your fucking face to me again."

Nick looked at me and scrambled out the door.

It took everything in me not to run after him and beat him to a bloody pulp.

"Gail," I yelled for my housekeeper.

I hear her walking quickly towards me.

"Sir?"

"I want you to take all of Olivia's clothes and put it in her suitcases. I want all of her things gone in my room. When you're done leave her things by the front door. Tell her..." The words died in my mouth when Olivia burst through the front door.

"Lucas," she cried out. She looked disheveled and she was crying.

I looked at her with disgust.

"Oh god," she said as she ran towards me and threw herself at me. I remained frozen and rooted to my spot.

Oh god. How could this woman betray me? How can the woman I loved and trusted hurt me?

"Lucas?" She whispered.

"Get the fuck out of my house and out of my life. I never want to see you again!" I growled at her.
