"i love you luke" i said putting my head on his shoulder
"i had them all leave since i saw how stressed you seemed and i didn't want to get bumbarded with questions after" he said and i looked up and his so our lips could connect
"i have to go. i will be back later tonight to talk about what is going on" i said.
"isnt it important for me to know ahead?"
"luke i'm not fighting right now" i stood up and went inside. i went upstairs and changed into sweatpants and a t shirt before going downstairs and grabbing my keys
"call me if you need me" i heard from behind me. i blew him a kiss before walking out and to my car.
here goes nothing.
---
as i pulled into the parking lot i took in a deep breath nervously. i got out of my car and rushed into the busy building.
i went to the front desk and waited patiently for her to get off the phone. i tapped my nails against the ledge
"sorry about that ma'am. how can i help you?"
"my mom, kristin tays, was brought in here earlier today. i was wondering where her room was" i told her and she nodded
"can i see proof of identity?" he asked. i gave her my id that still said kayla tays.
i still have yet to legally change my last name
"room 54 which is on level 2" she told me. i thanked her before running to the elevator and hoping on
i dodged people as i went to the room. as i stood in front of it i second guessed going in
i let out a sigh before knocking on the door. my dad opened it instantly and i walked to find my mom laying down. the heart beat monitor giving off small beats

i sat in a chair and looked up at my dad. he gave me a soft smile and i just looked away.
"when will she wake up, if she does?" i asked
"her heart is failing. she downed all her meds and shot up. she isn't going to make it kayla. i'm sorry i didn't protect her enough" he explained and another tear fell down my face
"don't blame yourself dad" i said as he sat next to me. he rubbed my back and my phone went off. i sighed seeing it was from luke
why are you at the hospital?
are you okay kayla?
please answer me baby.
i'm okay luke
i will explain everything later
kayla you are being weird
i'm scared luke. my mom is on her death
bed. my dad called me earlier. she attempted
again. i can't do this
i'm so sorry. i shouldn't have pushed you
into telling me
do you need me to come there?
i need you more than anything but you can't
i will see you when you get home.
i love you more than anything gorgeous
i love you punzo
i put my phone down and curled into a ball on the small chair. i watched my mom carefully as her breathing became less frequent and softer
"i love you mom" were the last words i got out to her before the monitor stopped and start a loud noise causing a doctor and two nurses to rush into the room
my dad and i hugged each other. i'm so selfish for texting luke and not spending the final moments she had with her.
i cried into his chest softly and he hugged me. it wasn't a sob or even crying. it was a numb cry. i didn't make noise, tears just fell
"we'll be alright" my dad said above me
"i know we will" i said.
we pulled away and the doctors and nurses where taking the attachments off her body knowing we couldn't bring her back
my dad and i sat there and watched holding hands. both of us heavily scared for what was to come. i sat back down as they left giving us time. i just stared at her cold body
"i love you dad" i said noticing him about to cry
"i love you pea"

Ambrosius: My Own Time
Hi... I died. Well actually... I didn't really die. My previous life definitely did though. If I'm being honest... If I truly died... what would happen? Where would I go? Is life just a fragile switch to be flipped? Or... is it something much more? Well, to answer those questions I asked, I had to live... and die... then live again... and die again. Over and over I lived... and died. Until one day... the ball of yarn I had been chasing around... finally unraveled itself. What was at end of the string... nothing, because that's all it is... a string of life... and death. But say... I am the one who unraveled the yarn ball of life and death.. so why must I abide by the rules of it? Why must my life... or rather... lives... be mortal? I... should be the only one... the only person to have unraveled that ball. The ONLY one, huh... sound nice... doesn't it? An infinite time... one devoid of the rules life and death that have been set upon me... a time that I should own... and one that I do own, from on, and forever. My own time... and the time that I own.

Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)
Nikola is an NPC in The World of Wills, a video game where players can feel sensations as if they were truly there. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until one day she wakes up sapient. Just as she begins thinking real, non-scripted thoughts and making connections, she and the players in the game are told that if they die in the game, they die in real life - and it's time to get killing. But what of Nikola, the emerging AI consciousness? How does she win in a game that can only end in her being wiped from existence at the end of it all? - Updates Mondays and Fridays. Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them. The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever? - This story is told in third person, past tense.- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.- Book cover by Vixeona.Cutting to Life is also being posted on SPB and Scribble Hub.Thank you sincerely for reading.

Midori
The sea of stars. The momentaneous lifeforms that flicker far away. Our futures — a sea brimming with light. Each and every shimmer in the starry canvas serves as one’s infinite opportunities in the vast sea of the future. The world, however, is far from the ideals of such a mantra. Complacency is the enemy of progress, yet to the four known nations, each one sees enemies around their borders. An example: A village isolated from the nation of Alkai prevents the lives of many from progressing. It’ll take a society, a group, even a whipped together rag-tag team to jump start the quest for progress. An escape from a motionless home—in order to search for a greater future, Mira approaches her blade in a new light. Any illustrations I use for covers and chapters are illustrations I have drawn myself unless otherwise stated.
